Indiana Pacers Postgame Media Availability (at Charlotte Hornets) | February 4, 2024

Yeah we had a good start to the game both ends the 90 start is a great way to start on the road um they’re they’re starting to get real Synergy uh you know Nim hard back in the lineup is something we thought made sense uh really for this game and um you know

Potentially the next few we’ll see um but he gives us he gives us flexibility and you know it it it it makes the ecos system of our roster work better you know um so that was good and and look our our our second unit had a great

Thing going in the second quarter and then things went a little Haywire you know we took some risks and had a couple of untimely turnovers and you know the thing slid some but we maintained a lead um got the job done got out here Al and that’s what’s important third quarter

They cut it to four you guys went on a 15 to2 run and it was that starting unit to I think you hit 10 of your first 13 from the field what do you like about that group seaka having tieback that you know makes you smile yeah I mean again

The it’s it’s a it’s a group that’s starting to real really feel each other um how to play with each other um Pascal is is getting more um more immersed in in what we’re doing the play calls that we do call you know how he fits into all that kind of

Stuff um you know and really frankly I’m a lot of this I’m just I’m watching unfold Tai’s really running the show out there um just you know and and and again you know Pascal just always seems to flow into his scoring opportunities you know like like tonight the guy you know

Has a quiet 25 you know he’s a plus3 on the court I mean he was he was tremendous um almost had a triple double I mean um pretty impressive 259 assists and eight rebounds so look the guy guy’s really good um played him a few more minutes than I wanted to but sometimes

That’s how it goes and so uh you know we uh you know we get to go move onward you’ve talked about being a better rebounding team and Miles had 10 seak a good rebounder what has it been I mean Aaron neith probably the last couple weeks I think he’s averaged like eight

Rebounds a game what what has he done differently or what have you guys done differently to to be a better rebounding team well these guys are starting to realize that if they rebound they’re going to stay on the floor more pretty simple and you know these are these are

Actions and behaviors that we need and if guys aren’t going to rebound they’re not going to play um so yeah know it’s it was a pretty strong message you know I don’t like 9:00 a.m. shoo rounds on for 6:00 games but we came in this morning and we were pretty firm about our

Transgressions in the in the Sacramento game and the New York game I mean against New York we didn’t rebound on Sac against Sacramento we were throwing the ball all over the place and tonight we rebounded uh our ball security was good and there were stresses we weren’t

Making shots but we were still we were still controlling the tempo of the game because we were defending and rebounding for sure for sure winning is fun um everybody feels better when you’re winning so uh yeah I feel good right now the third quarter they cut it to four

And you guys really then put them away describe that stretch of the game uh I thought we did a good job of just getting enough stops getting out running um and I think that’s kind of how we how we have to live is just getting stops at

The right time getting down running that was kind of the first time that we’ve been able to do that since uh since pascals got here and uh I thought it was fun play of the game maybe he had the steel you had the dunk then were you

Just messing around yeah kind of scared everybody on social media I wasn’t trying to do that I wasn’t going to do that and then TJ did it to me so then I did it to TJ but it wasn’t meant I I would never joke with the fans like that

But I guess I did that’s my fault that’s my fault I’m good coach said that uh in this press conference that he brought you guys in early to kind of send a message um about rebounding about turnovers that kind of sink in this morning yeah I think so I

Think so I think that this is a you know a game in the middle of a three game skid where you can come in here and and and be relaxed and I thought we did a good job of everybody having a lot of attention to detail shoot around was

Really good this morning uh good intensiveness in in film and stuff like that so I thought we approach this game the right way we want to go in All-Star break on a high and you know we feel we got five more games uh you know next two

At home so we just want to handle every game the right way and going All-Star break feeling good what thing about Brandon Miller oh he’s good he’s good he’s going to be really good um I think he listens and you see the Improvement we’ve played him this our third time

Playing him you see the Improvement on a game to game basis and I think what’s good for him right now I mean unfortunately there’s a lot of guys hurt but I think what’s good is kind of baptism by fire he’s kind of being a to

Look at to do a little bit more than he he probably would if everybody was healthy so that’s good for him he’s going to be a good player in this league for a long time you talked a lot about Pas Galer the last couple weeks but to

Look down and say 25 and oh yeah he almost had a triple double what does it say about how he does his business yeah he just you know gets to it uh just got to find early early opportunities to get him the ball in space he’s tough anybody

To guard in space um we’re trying to get his his foul rate up I told him once he ever since he put on that that navy and gold they the fouls aren’t coming as much so uh trying to give the free thr out a little bit more but just trying to

Find him early when I can today stand up and play video games afternoon like in Chicago uh it was a stand up yeah yeah treat treatment all day uh yeah it was one of those days for sure I mean I think obviously we do a little better today but you know that’s something

That’s going to be consistent you know throughout the throughout the year so um I you know we been struggling with it lately so we got to all coming together um and just you know like fight for boards and and again make make better decision on offense which I thought we

Did today you’ve been here a little bit now but you you st to get comfortable um no yeah definitely I think again like um just figuring out that balance like like I said the other day is just um just just finding out a balance within you

Know like be who I am as a player and and also like fitting with a team so um you know like sometime I can be a little bit like you know like trying so hard to like you know make sure that everything is right and and and you know it could

Take away from like who I am so you know everyone has just been telling me to be me um and and and that version of me that’s aggressive and and you know like playing aggressive on defense aggressive on offense like um it’s it’s like that’s

The version that we want so um I just got to figure out that Bal

  1. When you put the ball in Siakam hands just like Haliburton on offense, then good decisions are made for the entire team… They both have gravity to create open shots for everyone.. Keep working on team defense in preparation for playoffs…

  2. Team way better when Buddy doesnt start or play more then 20 minutes genius. Stubborn idiot. Pacer fans shouldnt forgive Him or let him off the hook for starting and playing Buddy 30 mpg.

Get him off the team Goodness God

  3. They really need to win 4 out of the next 5 games going into the break. Get over that 30 win mark, enjoy the break, and then be ready to grind and get a top four seed in the playoffs. When everyone is fully healthy, this team is better than the 76ers, Cavs, and Knicks.
