He basically said that there is no mandate from the Warriors front office to shed salary at the trade deadline. Any moves that will be made will be with the intention to help the team win this season. Pacers and Mavericks interested in Andrew Wiggins.

Thank god Wiggins getting some interest. This dude needs to move on.

Again, I’m of the opinion that we shouldn’t trade Wiggins just to trade him. Sure his value is low but he’s shown flashes of playing hard defense and if dump his salary, we don’t get any meaningful cap flexibility this offseason.
But I could see a 3 way deal unfolding where the Warriors want to trade for (just as an example) Vucevic and Caruso where CHI doesn’t want to take back Wiggins longterm money… so we ship Wigs to Indy, Indy sends expirings & a minor asset to Chicago, and then we trade a couple picks or a pick + Moody to Chicago.
Just don’t waste Moody and a bunch of picks, please. This season is in a hole, it would be so dumb to give up stuff now that we could have instead used or spent in a trade later.

not sure who we’d get from the Pacers that fits our rotation without redundancy. Hield doesn’t improve our defense, but he would be the 3rd best off-ball shooter. he would also overlap with Moody positionally if we kept the latter. Turner, Mathurin, Nembhard, Nesmith and McConnell are not on the block.
so that leaves maybe Toppin (great play finisher and minus defender who would be JoKu’s backup), Jalen Smith (not sure he helps our defense but he’s a better 5 than Saric and can stretch the floor), and iJax.
Wiggins offers more defensively over everything we could get from Pacers and he‘s overall been a positive contributor since Dray came back. we’re probably not making a big move at the deadline.
Is there a mandate for the team to get better? Because idk how many more 1 point failures, OT catastrophes, 20 point blown leads, etc this team can take.
I don’t think we should trade Wiggs anymore. With Dray back in the lineup JK and Wiggs are beasting defensively. Wiggs defensively makes up for his offensive bumbling.

Wiggs seems like he MIGHT be getting back into form from 2 years ago and early last season, but it’s not clear we’d get anything like that kind of value in a trade. Like every trade, it depends on what’s being offered. The only contract I think we should consider trading at a loss is CP3’s, because we stand to get zero for him after this season ends.
Klay would be on that list as well if an extension at a realistic salary does not seem possible.
The CP3 / Poole trade was to shed salary. Show me one statement from the FO saying that was the case. It’s a sports team. They’re always going to say they’re about winning while trading Wiggins for some expiring role player.
Wiggins isn’t the problem. The team needs him and his versatility. The team needs the backcourt of Green, Kuminga, and Wiggins to work.
When you trade Wiggins, you have to get those minutes back, hopefully better minutes, and on a contract that makes sense for this expensive team. I don’t see it happening. Wiggins just gets talked about because they aren’t going to trade Paul (expiring) or Klay (legacy).
The problem is Klay, which they are not going to trade and they aren’t going to reduce his minutes.
At this point, Paul is the guy you need to trade to try and make a run. Paul would help you in the playoffs, but you aren’t making a real playoff run with this team as is. Murray and Atlanta should be the trade partner.
But I’m not paying the bill.
If it’s the Pacers, I’m thinking Nesmith + Jalen Smith for Wiggins.
We just going to be mediocre , getting a 16th pick , doing copium that this team is top 4 with everyone healthy and keep on telling ourselves that they cant get better with a trade while other teams can because they have a capable front office , still having the highest payroll in the league and so on .
Just tell Curry he will be Dirk in his last years with the Mavs , you can do it Lacob!
