[Slater] Klay Thompson said it’s hard to not close: “Yeah, you kidding me? To go from one of the best players…It’s hard for anybody.” Klay credited the young guys. Draymond from off camera (to reporters): “I didn’t close Game 5 of the Finals. Who the f*** cares?”

Kuminga took his lunch and isn’t giving it back

It’s hard for Steph to score 60 and lose too

[Dray thought Kerr benching him in Game 4 was ‘disrespectful’ ](https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/dray-thought-kerr-benching-him-in-game-4-was-disrespectful/1447392/)

    >”Afterwards, I had to take myself to a place of, like, don’t go down that road, because for me, that road can get ugly,” Green said. “So for me, I’m like, ‘All right, I got benched. We won. I’m cool.’

    >”Had I got benched and we lost, though, I’m not sure I would have handled it well.”

he would have punched kerr if they lost lmao

I swear people didn’t watch the video. He sounds way more accepting about it but he’s human so he was just expressing the transition is pretty hard for him and mentioned he was proud of the young guys stepping up.

  5. Klay’s struggling with it in a very human way — it genuinely is really tough to be a Great Player and then not to be. We remember when players handled it well, like Iguodala or Ray Allen, but history’s littered with players whose bodies changed with age and couldn’t adjust. Hoping Klay eventually ends up in the former camp.

These reporters are tools and this sub has a raging hate boner for post injury Klay.

  7. nowhathappenedwas

Weird that the tweet is in reverse chronological order from what’s said on the video.

  8. Brad-Stevens

The tweet makes it seem like Draymond is responding to Klay … He says that before the media even asks the question

  9. Solid-Confidence-966

He sounds very reasonable in the video

  10. staymelooo

The fact that he came off the 2 worst injuries in basketball in b2b years and was able to be a key contributor to a title team afterwards is amazing. Nothing but respect for Klay 👏

  11. whatitdobabyyy

Video comes off a lot better, klay don’t be so truthful with the media

  12. Pulsing_Fantasticals

Man, dude looked on the verge of tears… Gotta feel for the guy.

Side note, I think this everytime I see locker room videos but, whose bright idea was it to let reporters into the goddamned locker room? Lol, Jesus Christ.

  13. LuckysBestMan

Quote makes it seem bad. The real response is fine

I honestly don’t understand the Klay hate in this sub. He just loves basketball and is clearly coming to grips with not being able to play at the level he expects of himself. I can’t tell if people are just jealous of his success or if this sub is full of 17 year olds just saying dumb shit because they can hide behind their phones and computers.

Whoever made this the title should be publicly flogged for deception.

  16. -xXxMangoxXx-

The video was a very reasonable, mature and honest answer. People forget the players are human too, and Klay went from having it all in terms of basketball to seeing a big decline.

  17. Nico_Simon

This is what the Bulls would look like if Mike and the gang played till 2002

  18. JNerdGaming

its alright that klays peaked. he really had a great run. first ballot hall of famer for sure.

  19. MambaSaidKnockYouOut

Klay actually comes off pretty good and human in the video. The tweet makes him sound saltier about being benched than he was in the video. He definitely seemed a bit disappointed but he was pretty complimentary of the group that closed.

  20. AAWalrus

Feel for Klay. It’s like dealing with a different version of your mortality. But he’s gonna get right and still help this team

  21. Blaasko30

I love when you can tell from the comments whether somebody watched the video or just read the title before commenting

  22. Own-Sleep-4973

Am I crazy or did klay come off 10000x more like-able after this interview?

I had the exact opposite reaction from just reading the title and before watching the video. I’m actively routing for him to turn it around now

  23. humlogic

You know r/ NBA got it down bad when they have to reach for some milquetoast locker room interview just to hate on a post Warriors win.

  24. Gym6DaysAWeek

Everyone should watch the clip. He doesn’t seem mad at all just goin through the emotions any player would feel

  25. Sauce-King

Klay’s going through it. You hate to see that

  26. akinzer34

Klay has had a great career. He’s essentially Kyle Korver with more minutes now. Some guys can’t reconcile that and need to just walk away. If he can adjust to being a role player he’ll still have some more good years. Just don’t know that he can handle the reality of that change.

  27. Apart-Bad-5446

Klay is in that Kyle Korver stage of his career, honestly. 25 MPG max, come out and shoot some threes and be more of a situational player.

I hope he retires a Warriors but he has to be realistic about his value.

Warriors made a huge mistake trading for CP3. No idea what they saw in that. Doesn’t help that Wiggins won one title and is now back to not giving a F about basketball. He had the potential tp be a SGA type of player but seems like he just plays basketball as a job.

  28. He was at the peak of his powers in that 2019 playoffs

He was going toe to toe with kawhi.

I can’t fault him for wanting to reach back to the mountaintop.

Klay is the most raw and sincere of the warriors.

  29. The way this is reported makes it seem like Draymond calling Klay out lol

  30. philadelphia76

Man I love Klay and this was really sad to watch. Feels like he’s really coming grips with his basketball mortality. Dude is so easy to root for.

  31. That video was hard to watch. Klay looked like a broken man trying to be upbeat. It’s like he’s trying to tell himself “tell me it’s not over” but with each passing game he’s coming to terms with it. It’s like he’s trying to summon super powers to help his team when they need him but he can’t do it like he used to. He’s just going though the stages of grief right now

  32. DrCain-NDegeocello

Draymond sure sounds like he cared. Why else does he remember?

  33. readytohurtagain

I love Klay. One of the most likable and talented players of his era. It was hard to see such a down to earth dude struggle with his pride but with his response tonight -accepting the reality of his new role – I think  he’s on the path back to that personality we all loved and will finish his career out as a hell of a guy to root for. That’s growth right there <3
