He doesnt have the counting stats. It’s hard to make a case for a 24 ppg guy to mvp when
-Jokic and Luka practically average a triple double
-Giannis puts up Shaq numbers
-Shai has 31 6 and 6
The MVP race loves box score stuffers, and Kawhi simply shows his impact outside of it.
Imo he’d have the scoring numbers if the refs actually gave him the whistle he deserves. One of the best/highest volume driving scorers itl yet only 4 fta per game. But that’s a topic for a whole post

Kawhi is like an old school star who doesn’t play for the stats. I bet he learned from Tim Duncan a lot. We don’t have many players like him nowadays, not to mention at this level.

If he averages 25+ on 50/40/90, Clippers get 1st seed, and other teams or player underperform then it’s possible. However, it’s all about narrative so Kawhi needs MVP games consistently rather than his efficient 25 points
