The timeline is consistent with expected timelines of all other players returning from the same procedure. Back in 8 weeks is not rushing if all goes well.
Need to finish top 8 and have Embiid back start of April, thats 8 weeks from now to get him 2 weeks to build before the play-in (16 April).
Win the play-in, get another 3 day break before the start of the playoffs. The 2-4 slots could be any of Cavs, Knicks or Bucks, you have to play 2 of those to make the conference finals.

So this means he got his meniscus shaved instead of fully repaired correct?

Everybody is saying “don’t risk further injury, let him heal up for next season”. And that’s a smart idea in theory…
But how many times can we wait for “next season” before it’s too late? Joel will be 30 next month and he plays a high-impact style. I’m not saying he’s old, but the window will start closing in the next few years
Considering all of the momentum we had and the other factors in our favor, if Joel is healed in time, then I say let him play

That gives a bit more credence to the whole “buyers at the deadline” narrative.

that’s fucking YUGE news!

3/27 vs the Clippers at home will be 2 months post-injury. Would give him 10 games to ramp back up before playoffs. Seems like the best case scenario here

I’m already imagining a 1st round series vs the bucks. Would be cinema
