On today’s episode of Locked on suns the NBA trade deadline is T-minus 17 hours away what the first flurry of deals shows us about what the Suns will be able to get done on Thursday and some out of nowhere 5050 maybe just maybe backup plans if the miles Bridges

On NBA all lowercase for a first deposit match up to $100 all right we saw three trades in the NBA on Wednesday to me what those trades showed us from a Phoenix Sun standpoint is that the Suns can in fact get a trade done there is a version of these three
Deals where Simone fono went to the Pistons you saw Xavier Tilman go to the B Celtics and Monte Morris go to the Minnesota Timberwolves there are versions of those trades even if the Suns maybe couldn’t have gotten a deal over to the Finish Line with those players or shouldn’t have pursued those players
It’s not onetoone examples of guys that we know the Suns would have wanted but the price tag when it comes to what the trades ended up looking like the Suns could have matched okay so let’s go through them fonio right 2024 second round pick uh and I
Believe I’m not I don’t remember what player Kevin Knox I think to the Jazz it’s really the pick is the the the Primo part of the package that pick is going to be 32nd overall that’s better than any pick the Suns have right the Suns have four second round draft picks only
Two of them are really any good so yeah Detroit beat that offer but not by that much it’s really the Jazz picking quality over quantity and in my opinion probably Detroit being more determined to Fork over their best offer than the Suns would have been because I don’t
Think vono is an Awesome Fit For What the Suns need again he even like I said miles Bridges is like a bigger Eric Gordon for this team I think fonio certainly is he is really just a shooter and ball mover he is a Monty williams5 offense guy much more than
What this team needed so I just don’t think the Suns would have done that the other one Xavier Tilman the Suns certainly would have done and it sounded like you would you know you saw in various places and you I would recommend following subscribing becoming a locked on suns
Insider so you can get every single rumor all throughout Thursday throughout the buyout Market different pieces of news and Analysis into the playoffs that link is at the show description below be in the know about the Suns all the time with my locked on suns Insider text
Alerts you get all of that straight to your phone you can interact get exclusive content and of course on Thursday every single suns rumor that’s not just till the deadline if there’s anything that almost happened that always comes out too and I will be scouring the internet to deliver that
Straight to the lockd on suns insiders who sign up at the link in the show description or at join sub.com lockon Suns one of those rumors was Xavier Tilman and the Suns having interest in him he is the Memphis big man he you remember started a lot of their postseason games
Last year in that first round series because Stephen Adams and Brandon Clark were both hurt and then he did the same thing again to start this season and he’s turned himself into a pretty serviceable guy the Boston Celtics got him for two second round picks I don’t
Know what those second round picks are exactly but again you know if the Suns wanted to go get Xavier Tilman and he was highest on their list they could have sent four and I think they would have gotten Xavier Tilman the third one was Monte Morris again a player that I think
I know some Suns fans still think that the Suns need a point guard I don’t think they’re going to pursue that so you know it kind of doesn’t matter we can argue about it all day I don’t think they would have been in on on a player
Like Monte Morris but again you look at what was sent out to go ahead and get him it is Shake Milton who is on a I believe a some kind of mid-level exception the smallest one troy Brown who is a veteran on a minimum contract or maybe I have
The those two things flipped maybe Browns on the midlevel and Milton’s on the minimum either way and one second round pick not crazy different from like metu aogi and a and a second round pick or two second round picks outside of the fact that the salary doesn’t exactly work because the
Suns don’t have anybody on that fiveish million dollar range they could have gone out and gotten Monte Morris would be my read so if you’re listen listening to this on late Wednesday night early Thursday morning and you’re just hoping upon hope that the Suns have enough ammunition to
Get something done these three trades in which contending teams or teams trying to win in the case of the Pistons added rotation players that I think will be difference makers at prices that the Suns could have afforded the fact that the Suns did not have not made a move
Yet as I’m recording this at 8:30 on Wednesday night is not because they are priced out it is just because they haven’t made their swing yet speaking of Morris and the wolves that might have been the biggest move that will impact who wins the Western Conference that will happen
Before the deadline and if that’s the case that would be a huge sigh of relief for the Suns we’ll get into if that’s true next first Today’s Show brought to you by Nissan that’s right are you the kind of driver that likes to push things a little further if you ever wondered what

Here Monte Morris is now on the Minnesota Timberwolves another small point guard for them but player that they sorely needed if you watch that team when Mike Conley is not playing either because of injury or just literally sitting on the bench resting in the middle of games
Where he’s active they show you time and again how badly they will need Morris and I think he will truly make them better if he can stay healthy but when I look at the Western Conference I see a cluster at the top I see a Sacramento Kings team that
Has tinkered with making a deal but has not pulled the trigger on a major Improvement yet and doesn’t feel like they’re going to on Thursday and then the Suns and Below them yeah the Lakers okay if they got to jonay Murray you’re hearing the Pelicans now with Deonte
Murray that would be big the Mavericks sure maybe they pull off something for PJ Washington maybe even Kyle kozma if they really muster up an offer and Washington plays Ball but even if you told me Murray got moved to the Lakers or or let’s say even
Kosman got to the Mavs I don’t think either of those trades make those teams better than the Suns I think we have enough under our belts Now 50 plus games in where those teams I I think would be somewhat kidding themselves that those moves Vault them into the upper echelon of the Western
Conference at the upper echelon of the West I don’t think Minnesota could maybe make one more move they do have Kyle Anderson but Morris was the biggest need so my assumption is that might be their one their one trick of their card up their sleeve the Denver Nuggets I don’t expect
To do anything they don’t need to do anything as long as they’re healthy and they can Trot out eight guys they will be the favorites heading into the postseason in my opinion the Clippers need one more Wing Amir coffee is solid developing but because of his inexperience and in
Particular to me his lack of offensive difference making he might be a liability that they will try to upgrade and they have the PJ Tucker salary to do that they have bones Highland or the assets that they could get for bones Highland that they could use and compile to upgrade
But scanning that whole landscape I don’t see a move that is going to shake the foundation of any of these teams the big question mark would be the Thunder they’ve been quiet forever not this season I mean forever as in the whole time they’ve existed as a
Franchise and Sam prey has been their executive you do not hear rumors about the thunder you don’t hear there you know you might hear random people go on shows and speculate or write articles speculating about what the Thunder could should might do but you will not hear a lot about
What the thunder plan to do will do or anything they traded for Paul George out of nowhere they traded Away Paul George just as secretly and they’ve handled their business that way time and again so they could go out on Thursday and get somebody that we
Just did not have on on on our Radars that nobody guessed I’m not really convinced they will do that because they are so far ahead of schedule that even this year there’s really no need to rush I think they should absolutely make a a deal by next offseason to consolidate
Their roster and address their weaknesses and everything else but I’m not convinced they’ll make a big swing but they absolutely could if they don’t you are looking once again right back at Minnesota solidifying its bench and its second unit offense being the single biggest move that anybody outside
Of Phoenix makes in the west to solidify themselves as Championship contenders you know that I think the Suns have a very good opportunity to upgrade their standing as a championship Contender themselves if they can get a defense first Wing or forward who can make them bigger who can make them more stable and
Deep and who can defend opposing Playmakers at a higher level than the guys they currently have I think that puts the the sun’s a lot closer to contention even if it’s a smallish rotation player maybe it’s a an eighth man I think that would go a long
Way just like it did for Minnesota but we could look up at the end of Thursday when all these moves are are done and say Monte Morris and whatever the Suns did affected the title race in the west at least more than anything else that got done if the Clippers can’t find that
Wing player if the Thunder opt to mostly stand Pat if the Kings stand Pat if the Mavs and Lakers only get a player as good as let’s say dejonte Murray Kyle kozma whatever I would go ahead and say that’s what we will feel is that those Minnesota Phoenix
Clippers trades to just upgrade the depth were the most important ones closing out the show let’s go through if the Suns for some reason do not get miles Bridges which all indications still appear to be that they are in a good position to do that there are other players around the
League that would fit the bill in terms of salary situation and archetype that the Suns could pivot to and I’ll go through those names next first Today’s Show brought to you by prize picks the best place to play daily fantasy sports because frankly it is nothing like the same old daily

Code locked on NBA for a first deposit match up to $100 prize picks pick more pick less it’s that easy closing out the show miles Bridges continues to be linked to the Suns Brian Brian wior mentioned it on his podcast I think on Friday again in very direct terms
We’ve heard it from every Insider now and Windor once again on Wednesday on NBA Countdown leading to the Wednesday night games on ESPN reiterated that he said that as far as I could tell I didn’t see the I didn’t I wasn’t watching but I saw people tweeting what he said it sounds
Basically like he said Bridges has a very strong and likely Suitor in the west and then didn’t specifically say who that team was but then immediately brought the Suns up and then did not bring any other teams up so read between the lines there that’s not very hard to
Decipher again any little rumors or tidbits like that all throughout the rest of Wednesday night into Thursday I will have for you at the locked on suns Insider text alerts where you can be in the know about the Suns all the time you don’t have time to be going on Twitter or

Subtext docomo ons Sons or click the link in the show description below and get all of that plus more exclusive content throughout the season on the locked on Insider Community Bridges make $7.9 million obviously because of the qualifying offer and everything else he is in an even more unique situation having
Basically a uh no trade clause in his contract so he’s kind of a one oneoff but there are other similar players and so that’s what I want to hit on right now who are the miles Bridges backup plans I took this inspiration from Nick angat over at lockon Mavericks who did
The um like out of nowhere trade possibilities on Wednesday’s show so I will throw one at you that is out of nowhere would would would be a surprise but reasonable possible enough that it’s worth discussing Obi toppen $6.8 million salary which means the Suns could trade nere little for him
And whatever second round picks he is on an expiring contract just like miles Bridges and he’d actually be even easier to resign because you would get his bird rights whereas with Bridges you would not however I think the Pacers just wouldn’t trade him but the you know because they
Just traded for him and yes he’s now a backup for Pascal se yakum but he’s still in their rotation and young and developing and everything else but if they didn’t think they were going to resign him if the Suns offered enough it would not Shock Me for them to
Flip toppen into little who is under contract for longer still fits the way they want to play and toppen would give the Suns a little more size than little does similar athleticism and a little more polish you know toppen would play right away for the Suns make them bigger make them um a
Little more Dynamic so there’s one how about Caleb Martin I was texting with Wes Goldberg who hosts our lockon heat show and he said it’s probably a no-go little for Martin that’s just not enough for Miami they don’t want to get worse they’re don’t they’re not trying to dump Caleb Martin just
To get something for him in case he leaves with his player option this upcoming summer which he will decline because it’s only for $7 million and this guy could have been the Conference Finals MVP last year but let’s just say Wes is wrong or this deal gets done maybe early enough on Thursday
Where the heat could use if the sun’s let’s say threw all their picks in four second round picks in little could the heat maybe then turn around and use those picks to get something else it’s probably not likely again these are very outside the box Poss possibilities here but we know the Suns
Wanted Martin back in the Aon Lillard trade when Lillard might have been going to Miami Martin could have come to Phoenix instead of Grayson Allen because obviously the Bucks wouldn’t have been involved then and Grayson couldn’t have been involved so we know they like him he certainly fills a need as another athletic
Wing with you know defensive pedigree and and and you know playoff experience and everything else I think he’d be awesome it’s just again unlikely from the Miami side how about our old friend kenrich Williams I’ve never been a huge fan if I’m being 100% honest he just lacks a little bit of
Athleticism but if you’re talking about a player and he’s a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder Makes $6.2 million he is under contract long term so it’s kind of a one for one in terms of the contract situation with little and with kendri Williams but it would make the Thunder younger
And it would give them more picks again is that enough inspiration for them to get it done maybe not probably not but certainly a possibility and if you’re talking about a player like we’ve heard about bridges who provides some value in large part because he can cons help the Suns
Construct some small ball lineups a little bit more easily that could be appealing you know kenrich again I mean it’s not like he’s 610 or something but he is 67 he’s used to playing up a position and he’s physically very he’s physical and he’s strong and big and um
Is somebody like apj Tucker type who you can plug in as a power forward so to speak in maybe a KD at the five type of lineup and trust him to let’s say you know match up with a I don’t know even a Carl Anthony towns for instance right
Or Paul George or something like that right and you don’t have to be panicked the same way that right now in those lineups you know it’s can a kogi survive and and whatever else I brought these up on the lock on suns Insider feed and had some responses from the
Subscribers over there which again you can join at the link in the show description below or visit join sub.com lockon Sons to sign up for being to know about the Suns all the time I already said this to them but look for Toronto okay again this is really a if it does
Not work with Miles Bridges this is not me saying these are plan priority number one plan a anything but the rock uh the Raptors have three players who might make some sense one is Thaddius young who is still in the NBA has been has started some games for Toronto this year
Shockingly I don’t think he’s really a playoff caliber player though so he would not be the top of the list none of these guys would be the top of the list again but him less so even than the others Otto Porter who makes $6.3 million on an expiring salary and has
Been healthy All Season he tends to alternate Seasons where he can play and when he can’t play and that sucks for him but uh you know he he made a huge impact in that Golden State finals run two years ago he was hurt most of last year but now he he’s
Not playing a lot because the Raptors have a lot of guys and they’re not not really trying to prioritize you know playing their their veterans but Porter has great size played with Beal once upon a time and if the suns were able to get Intel that he could play certainly
Worth a flyer and you probably could get him and make another trade because you wouldn’t have to give up much to get him last one on Toronto would be Jaylen McDaniels obviously jayen McDaniels is in Minnesota making a ton of money and being a really impactful player but jay
Lynn is the older one you might remember him as the guy who got traded to Philadelphia last deadline for several second round picks he didn’t play a lot for them Doc Rivers never really put him in the lineup he’s one of those guys always where his athleticism
Is a little bit tantalizing when you watch but he’s never been able to catch on on any of the teams that he’s played for as I said not plan a but if you could get him and a backup center Maybe that’s a a good option if
You strike out on Bridges or if you just pivot off of bridges for whatever reason the point is there are lots of similar types of guys making in that 7ish million doll range who are not named Miles Bridges and all hope will not be lost if the
Suns are not able to pull that off that’ll wrap us up for today hopefully I’m able to get this on to YouTube and onto the audio feed before anything else breaks here on Wednesday night but I think I’ll be in the clear however I thought that last Wednesday of the
Deadline and the Suns got Kevin Durant so you never really know enjoy the magic the fireworks I will be back with episodes anytime the Suns make a trade if it happens early in the day if not just be on the lookout as quickly as I possibly can after the deadline hits I
Will have an episode so you could get multiple tomorrow just depends on how much everything is spaced out don’t forget to sign up for lockon Suns Insider alerts and join that community at the link in the show description if you want every rumor sent to your phone throughout Thursday and the buyout
Market and beyond plus exclusive content more throughout the season and I will catch you guys Thursday afternoon talk to you then
The first few moves of the NBA trade deadline showed the Phoenix Suns can meet the going rate for solid role players.
Brendon Kleen of @justbasketballfans explains why before wondering whether the most impactful move in the Western Conference has already happened. Plus, if the Suns don’t get Miles Bridges, who could they pivot to that is similar?

Suns should pursue Miles Bridges or Nick Richards or Dorian Finney Smith.
