2024 NBA TRADE DEADLINE WINNERS AND LOSERS!

2024 NBA TRADE DEADLINE WINNERS AND LOSERS!

The 2024 NBA trade deadline was certainly a weird one no true stars were moved but there were a ton of very very interesting deal and not only that but of course there were certainly plenty of winners and some losers let’s start on the positive end of things here our

First winner of the NBA trade deadline has to be the New York Knicks now they almost landed on the other side of this video in the other category initially when trades were coming through earlier today because the news broke that they were going to be trading away Quinton

Grimes in exchange for Alec B and that’s all the information that we got that was literally it and then we later found out that actually boan Movic was also in the trade as well which is you know a pretty big detail that is a massive addition for New York I’m sure

They would have liked to keep Quinton Grimes but being able to get Burks is fine but bogdanovich is the true prize here someone that provides them lineup versatility a little bit of creation on the ball certainly a great off ball spacer as well and not a fantastic Defender but someone that at least

Competes and is going to fit in perfectly there in Detroit they needed someone that was a little bit of a connector there on the perimeter they needed a little bit more spacing and when you add in what they did of course with the OG and an obrade who’s hurt

Right now but has been fantastic in his first couple of weeks with the Knicks obviously you combine that together they’re huge winners but even just today what they did bringing in bogdanovich was absolutely a win and arguably the best move that anybody made today now where there are winners of course there

Are losers and on the other end of the spectrum here is the Dallas Mavericks um this was a move that a lot of people got very excited about today they brought in PJ Washington I think a lot of people like PJ Washington and he’s he’s good

He’s a fine player there’s things to be excited about there if you’re a fan of the Mavericks they traded away basically some salaries plus grant Williams but they just brought in in the offseason and a future first round pick overall not bad here’s my issue though PJ Washington offensively is 100% an

Upgrade from Grant Williams he’s a much better spacer he’s a more Dynamic offensive player and generally speaking is going to have a lot of offensive opportunities uh in advantageous situations alongside Luca and alongside Kyrie here’s my problem okay Luca at his position is one of the worst defenders

In the entire league Kyrie at his position is one of the worst defenders in the entire league and PJ Washington at his position is one of the worst defenders in the entire league and theoretically if you are trading a first round pick plus some stuff in exchange

For a guy in PJ Washington you would like for him to start and certainly finish games and I’m not sure that that is a defensive infrastructure that is sustainable for Dallas with PJ Washington Kyrie and Luca out there not to mention guys like Tim Hardway Jr

Other pieces on this roster that is a big big concern for me that Dallas traded away a future first round pick for a player that might not close games for them not to mention the fact that when they brought in Grant Williams in the offseason it cost them some draft

Compensation as well couple of second round picks and a pick swap they’re getting some seconds back in this deal as well but essentially they traded a pick Swap and a first in exchange for PJ Washington when you kind of you know rope in everything else going along

There Grant Williams when they got him in the offseason I understand the offensive upgrade of PJ Washington from Grant Williams but defensively I have a lot of concerns and i’ be watching this move very closely for Dallas Post deadline the other side now very sneaky underrated team of the deadline here is

The Phoenix Suns they get Royce elil they get David Rody they send out whatever it is that they’re able to trade at this point some seconds some random swaps Phoenix gets very creative in terms of the assets that they have available um and not not only were they

Able to bring these two guys in but they also have opened up some roster spots to potentially be involved in the buyout market and reyce O’Neal more so than Ry but ry’s at least a little bit interesting Royce O’Neal um is perfect for what they need he can hit spot up

Threes uh he’s a decent Defender provides them size because a lot of their spot up shooter role player guys um were small Eric Gordon Grayson Allen or they weren’t spot up shooter guys they could only guard so having someone that can do both and has size is perfect

For Phoenix Ry O’Neil is probably going to get a chance to start and finish games and at the you know value level that they got him for this is fantastic for Phoenix I also like David Rody and by the way Phoenix once all these guys have been playing together there have

Been some games where they look very very dangerous some nice additions for them again kind of the theme of the deadline some smaller moves but still moves that I really really liked there for Phoenix moving on though to our second loser the Toronto Raptors now this was a very weird deal essentially

Toronto has been involved in a lot of deadline stuff and I’ve already talked about how I like the ogan and Obi trade for them I like the SE yakum trade for them so let’s just focus on the deadline moves here today okay and the big one I

Want to focus on is getting Kelly o lenck and I I apologize the former lottery pick that was there in Cleveland and then traded to Utah I’m going to say aaji I’m probably mispronouncing it I apologize you guys know who I’m referring to they’re getting that guy

Plus o linic in exchange for some contracts basically in a late first- round pick and here’s the Calculus if you are MSU jiri you’re looking at this and you’re saying I hate the 2024 draft class this is going to be like the 25th pick in the draft I’m getting a guy that

Was a former Lottery Pick and I’m getting Kelly oen that’s fine but like why do you want Kelly oen they didn’t flip him anywhere else he’s an impending free agent you’re not trying to be good anyway and I guess this just comes down to like I’d rather have the guy that was

A top 15 pick 18 months ago or whatever that was over a late first round pick in what seems to be a week draft class in the 2024 class that makes sense to me but the issue with that is two teams have already given up on this guy so how

Much value does he really have I if I’m in the position of Toronto I would just rather have the first round pick I think it’s more valuable even in a week draft class and I don’t like the idea of them giving up a first uh given the situation

Of the team even though it’s not their own first of course and the fact that they did this last year too with yaka purle who’s good better than Kelly oen but like why as a rebuilding team do we have to keep sending away first round picks for like impending free agent bigs

That aren’t really going to help us a ton in the long term back to the positive side of this though Oklahoma City I want to talk about this a little bit more in depth as we get kind of a little bit more removed from the trade

Deadline I want to look into this a little bit more but the Gordon Hayward Edition I mean arguably from a name perspective this is the biggest name that got moved today and for a lot of different kind of smaller reasons I really really like this for okoma City

One it does suck that they got rid of Trey man I do think that there’s Talent there but as we’re going to talk about with Charlotte here in a little bit I think that’s a really good opportunity for him um and also getting rid of the

Davis Bon contract he has one year left on his deal after this year Gordon Hayward isn’t expiring so you’re basically trading away Trey man so that Charlotte’s okay taking on an extra year dois bans and you’re getting back Gordon Hayward and Hayward might play some for OKC you might get healthy might be

Helpful for them I’m surprised that they didn’t add a big at the deadline that was still strange to me but maybe they’ll address that in the offseason but here’s kind of the Hidden wrinkle of this and something I want to talk about more in depth in a future video Oklahoma

City’s big issue over the next couple of Seasons if they want to try and trade for a star is that they don’t really have salaries to try and make that happen they don’t have a big number on the roster amongst guys that’d actually move you know they’re not going to trade

SJ or anything like that uh L D someone you’d probably want to keep at his current number and bringing in Gordon Hayward allows them to one you know have him potentially help them here towards the end of the year but also let’s just say theoretically Gordon Hayward resigns

With OKC in the offseason on like a Bruce Brown kind of deal let’s say it’s a lot of money it’s 20 $25 million a year but it’s like two years plus a team option for Gordon Hayward that’s perfect for them he can help them sure probably but that also gives them a salary

Structure piece to potentially make the big big move whether it be at next year’s deadline or beyond that and you could do let’s say Josh giddy plus Gordon Hayward plus some other salaries and easily get to like 40 plus million dollar in contracts and of course they

Have all the draft picks that they need as well and their ability to trade for a start in the future is much is much greater now than it was before the deadline and again it’s kind of the theme of this deadline it’s a smaller move it’s a weirder move but one that I

Really really like for Oklahoma City in terms of how it kind of structures their ability to add a star in the future last up now on the loser section um I’m I’m a little confused by Philadelphia so I like buddy hee I like that addition and

I was like okay that makes sense then they traded away Pat Bev who’s been like decent for them and then they traded away Jaden Springer both those guys got traded away for second round picks um and I’m just a little bit confused by that like yes they haven’t been as good

Obviously now that Aid’s not playing but like Jaden Springer’s good and like a potential peace for you Pat Bev like wasn’t fantastic but like was a solid piece and like I don’t want campaign on the team I don’t really you know see any value in that certainly don’t see a ton

Of value in a future second round pick for a team that’s trying to potentially win the title and to me it it makes me think okay well maybe embiid’s going to be out for the year and this is kind of a lost year okay then why are we trading

For Buddy heal in the first place then I was fully prepared to really like the deadline for Philly and and I just kind of didn’t and last up now we go back to the winner section and it’s the Charlotte Hornets and if you look at the entirety of the trade season for

Charlotte it’s even more of a w when you wrap in the tier rier trade as well where they get a future first round pick pick there but also they get a future first in exchange for PJ Washington again a good offensive player but someone that is it’s kind of underrated

How bad PJ Washington is on defense uh so they get value there Grant Williams can maybe be flipped for something else they get out of the Gordon Hayward thing try man I think is going to be good for them especially in a guard rotation that currently features like leaky black and

Some other g-league guys like lamelo is out Brandon Miller is looked awesome but like clearly they were they had some issues trying to get any kind of value out of Miles Bridges but they were able to bring in guys that I think are going to help them can be future pieces and

They get two first round picks at the deadline in exchange for guys in Terry roier and PJ Washington they’re valuable but maybe when you look at what some of these role player guys went for around the league today you could say man they got really really good value in exchange

For those guys so I like what Charlotte did as well and I understand I’m going to make a video about this I understand that this wasn’t the most exciting deadline of all time we didn’t have all these star trades but you have to think about we had the James Harden trade in

The fall we had seakan ojan and Obi get traded within days of each other a couple weeks ago and there are still really interesting deals today and I think that this is something that I don’t know that we’re going to see ever again but this year for a lot of

Different reasons that I’ll cover in a different video um this year featured a lot of teams that kind of were struggling to find that one big move to make and so ultimately we ended up with a lot of smaller moves but at the end of the day for someone like me that just

Loves trade season loves constantly evaluating the roster construction all these teams this was still super super fun

The 2024 NBA Trade Deadline was weird but did have some winners and losers including the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, and more!

  1. Mavs fans don’t agree and that’s totally fine. I’m 100% okay admitting I’m wrong if it ends up that way. But to me this is almost like Christian Wood 2.0. I know they wanted to get rid of Grant but PJ just doesn’t guard. 2 firsts for Gafford and PJ who both might not even close games for them is tough IMO. I appreciate the respectful comments and we shall see!

  2. This guy hates the Mavs since they traded for Kyrie, i've only heard negative things from this guy

  3. This guy has obviously never played basketball and must hardly watch it if he thinks the mavs made bad moves. Absolute moron

  4. Toronto needed a backup big for a long while since Koloko has been ill since the summer and Kelly adds spacing too.

2 teams didn’t give up on Agbaji he was traded from the Cavs to Utah on draft night was he not? That means he’s played for 1 team for 1.5 seasons …?

Plus they still have 2 first rounders potentially 3. Why is the worst pick of the bunch a sticking point?

  5. Bulls making no moves is wild to me, but this dude must have no athletic experience the Mavs had the best deadline

  6. Your not sporting logically rn. You gave the Thundera a win off the assumption they can over pay him in the off season to trade him in the future lol but not docking them for the main thing that needed to do …. Add a BIG! 🤦🏽‍♂️😅

  7. You called the mavs deadline losers two years ago when we traded KP for Dinwidee and we made the WCF that year so this opinion really doesn’t surprise me in the slightest bro just hates the mavs

  8. Mavs are the most interesting team in the league. They have two all time talents, and everyone else is a third stringers. How do you have Luka and not try to build a championship team around him?

  9. How did Cavs give up on him? Utah liked him enough to trade Mitchell for him in the package

  10. I am sorry, but I am a Hornets fan and Gordon Hayward is awful (whenever he is healthy and playing)

  11. I am sorry, I am a Hornets fan and I think we should get something (one 2nd?)for Lowry and Grant Williams
