Hawks biggest blunder was waiting for DJ instead of going after White at the trade deadline. White was a much better fit, on a great contract and needed much less capital to get.

Can he play defense?

People are lying to everyone and themselves if they’re saying they knew White would turn into what he is now.
This sub needs to take a collective breath and step away from Reddit for a bit.

The hawks thought their roster was good back then. They were flying high after their playoff run and got cocky. Then got lax and had to be matched up with the Heat. And then the whole team got exposed.

Chances are he never becomes the player he is today if he comes here. Between Nate’s shitty system and not having the benefit of open looks as the third or fourth guy on offense he’s not developing the same way offensively. There was no reason to believe he would provide any spacing when we could make a play at him and there’s no reason to believe he would have developed his current shot if we traded for him. At least with Dejounte, his 3 pointer showed development. White was shooting 30% from 3 for years when Boston traded for him.

Who turned the brightness up on Nate McMillan?

Yes yes yes, 100% yes. White is better than Murray, would’ve complemented Trae better, & cost less to trade for.

Just want it to be known b4 the recency bias fully takes over. Derrick White looked like ass for the Celtics after they got him and we were in this sub pointing that out back then. This celtics blog article in real time even shows that [Derrick White Trade Mistake](https://www.celticsblog.com/2022/2/11/22929311/sorry-folks-derrick-white-trade-disaster-josh-richardson-jayson-tatum-jaylen-brown-romeo-langford) It took them getting dogged in the finals by Curry b4 he got started making that deal look good lol. Please don’t try that mess in here cuz using hindsight to prove a point as if we don’t watch our own org flop WITH piecing together players well and maximizing talent

<insert player here like I know the future> 2K GM mode. Who knew that Marcus Smart would drop off, Hunter would stop playing defense, etc but you KNEW that White was a better option right? Even though you made your profile like less than 9 months ago (Obviously you made a new acct).
Trae and DJM are on the same time line. DJM is younger and actually wanted to come here.

BTW, you were hyping AJ Griffin and his defense is definitely bad, even worse than Bogi but now you want to go back two years ago? WOW.
