We may not be done with some open roster spots, but some of yall are tripping right now. Don’t praise Presti left and right and throw a fit when he trades players who aren’t really contributing much. It’s a low risk move with potential high reward, there doesn’t have to be more to this trade then that.
If Hayward can get healthy he is an immediate contributor to this team. We are currently in 1st place in the west and just got a better. If it doesn’t work out it oh well, we don’t really lose anything with this trade. The upside on Hayward if he can stay healthy is way more than what Mann and Micic are going to give us right now. This is a move to try and compete for a title this year, while not having to go all in and risking major assets for something that may not work.

It’s possible that Jazz game was the nail in the coffin for him. I doubt that the FO is making choices based off of one game, but I think his play hasn’t warranted keeping him. It has to be taken into account who he’s playing with and the limited minutes but he hasn’t played well.
His net rating is about -15 (off rating 102, def rating 117). His TS is 49%. Giddey is shooting the ball better. And Micic isn’t the passing maestro that people think he is. His assist to turnover ratio is barely above 2. He’s had moments that look cool, but he’s also regularly passing out of a very open shot to a more covered teammate and he regularly ends up in the paint without a plan and turns the ball over. Add in his defensive liabilities… I just don’t see him being a worthwhile piece moving forward.
