I genuinely don’t see the teams ahead of us obliging and playing 500 basketball so we would have to deadass go 23-6 to avoid the playin imo. This is so cooked we just have to pray we can’t squeeze to the 8 seed so we have to cracks at the playoffs

Most of this sub was okay with staying put. People will just complain about ham and another season is wasted with healthy lebron and ad. Yea we will get a all star caliber player summer maybe 2 actually. You guys keep believing that.

Tonight is the most important game of the season. The Lakers played hard last night. The Nuggets did what they always do. Stayed in control of the game and then took over. If the Lakers come out dead tonight I think it’s the beginning of the end. If they show life it means the fight is still there.

I am confident that we can beat the Jazz and Pels in a 1 game knockout if we’re healthy, but the Kings, Warriors, and Mavs scare me. Don’t get me wrong, in a 7 game series I’m taking us every single time against the Warriors and Kings (maybe not the Mavs, depends how Vando is health wise), but in 1 game I don’t trust our coaching staff not to completely shit the bed with the gameplan and/or the opponent not to have an outlier shooting performance (with the assistance of our dumb as fuck defensive scheme).
We absolutely need to end up the 8 seed at worst, because winning 2 win or go home games is completely unreasonable considering the bipolar nature of the team, and even then I think making a push to the 6 seed is necessary.
We are currently 5 games back in the loss column from 6th, and if we assume everyone continues their winning percentage for the rest of the season, we can only afford 8 more losses (that’s including the assumption we have the tiebreaker over NOLA, as that would tie us with their record)
Therefore, we’d need a record of 21-8 the rest of the way, equivalent to a 59 win pace.
Basically, to not be in the play in, we need to play like a 60 win team against the best teams in the league due to our remaining SOS.
Oh, by the way, if that assessment feels disturbingly familiar, it’s because it is. Last season we went on an 18-8 stretch post trade deadline to close the season which got us to 7th place. We are in the exact same fucking spot right now that we were then, except this time we don’t have a revamped roster to get us there.

Damn. I’m just looking at the Pelicans record and look, that team is talented, but it just boggles my mind that we have LEBRON and AD and a very solid supporting cast, and cannot muster being a few games above .500 for a sustained period of time.

I don’t think it is good idea to shoot for 20-9. That means that LeBron has to play a lot of back to back. which is really unlikely. I would say, get into playin- hopefully 7-8 seed. I think trying to get the team as healthy as possible and seeing what deep run we can make.
