Daryl Morey doesn’t think Jaden Springer can contribute to a title team. Two quotes that stand out from Brad Stevens (before Morey‘s comments) about Springer: ”He is an athlete who can play athletically in the playoffs.“ ”Maybe we all have different evaluations of people.“

Daryl Morey says he believes that Jaden Springer has a good future, but Philly is trying to win a championship now and he believes Springer’s time to contribute to a title team is not here at the moment

People take this shit too personal. Springer isn’t going to play in the playoffs this year, and he’s very limited offensively. Those things matter less to Boston right now than Philly. The Sixers will have many avenues to add talent this off-season, the Celtics will have very few. So the C’s took a flier on a 21 year old that could be a productive cost controlled defensive minded player while they hit the super tax era.

Hope it works out for the Celtics!

Can’t wait for him to Lock up Maxey.

Play with that chip on your shoulder. They didn’t want you so cook them.

Daryl Morey, expert on making the NBA finals

Brad’s teams have gotten further than any of Daryl’s. Daryl’s have also inevitably turned into shitshows: harden-dwight>harden-cp>harden-westbrook>embiid-ben-doc>embiid-harden-doc.

Brad has also stolen KP and Derrick and swung the trade for Jrue and we still have good draft capital.

So I think I’m going with Brad on this.

Who exactly has Morey evaluated properly besides harden?

Nobody on Philly will ever contribute to a title team in Philly.

Whether people want to admit it or not, quick guards kill the Celtics. I can see him being used over Pritchard for defense in the playoffs. There is enough offense on the floor at all times where that part of his game wouldn’t hurt them

this is how brad acquires and develops young talent without having high or any frp’s. trade for many 2rp’s and bundle with filler for semi nba ready talent with upside. its brilliant.

  9. Maybe he will have a Nesmith-esque Arc and start playing his best ball against the Sixers 😂

Morey is gonna look so dumb when Springer wins Finals MVP

Philly doesn’t matter…..how Embiid goes, so goes Philly.

Come playoff time, they’ll be rotating maxey, melton, and hield. Which is why they also got rid of beverly

  12. Well Springer will get a ring before Morey anyways

  13. Brad Stevens also referred to Springer as a “puppy” in his comments.

It sounds like Stevens and Morey aren’t that far apart on where Springer is as a prospect. Rather the Celtics have a longer term view of their own championship timeline than the Sixers right now.

  14. Thanks for sharing the quote. Jared Weiss wrote a good story today comparing and contrasting Brad’s and Morey’s comments to clarify their perspectives in regard to the trade

But that second round pick is going to help them win a title now?

We’ll have playoff games where Brunson/Maxey/Lilliard/Mitchell are going off and propping up bench units, if Springer can come in and drag them back from being absurd, that’s plenty. I’m honestly not bothered about his offence if we’re playing 4 shooters and those guards are getting to play help off Springer.
