The Jaden Springer trade now of course a lot of you guys know the Boston Celtics made a couple of interesting moves at the trade deadline we’ve talked a lot about Xavier Tilman if you want to see a bit more about that we’ve made plenty of videos over the last couple of days but

One of the trades that made me flew under the radar not just for Celtics fans but for a lot of NBA fans is the Jaden Springer trade and when Boston acquired Jaden Springer from the Philadelphia 76ers I think a lot of people were like okay you know a lot of

Outside fans thought it’s a fine move right what’s Boston really doing with this is he you look at Jaden Springer stats he plays like 12 minutes a game averaging an inefficient Four Points you’re like ah well that’s nothing but that’s not true Jaden Springer is a fantastic Defender he’s guarded Steph

Curry and put the clamps on him he’s guarded LCA donic for for periods and he’s put the clamps on him and while his offensive game still has you there’s still some work to be done there for sure he can absolutely contribute and so when Daryl Mur came out and said yeah

Look the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to compete for a title and he doesn’t feel Jaden Springer can do that at the moment he did say Jaden Springer has a good future in this league but he said nah I don’t think Jaden Springer can contribute to a title team well Brad

Stevens had a response to that of course Darren muray doesn’t think Jaden spring can contribute to a title team but two quotes about that the stand out from Brad Stevens in the video I might link the video down below if I’d suggest you go checking it out it’s just 30 seconds

But stevenh said yeah he said but Springer is is an athlete who can play athletically in the playoffs and maybe we all have different evaluations of people sort of I don’t know if he’s calling out myy at that point I don’t know if he’s throwing a little bit of

Shade but at the end of the day Brad Stevens Le teams have had historically a lot more success than darl mury Leed teams at least from the GM spot and I think Brad Stevens knows a thing or two about winning and like I said before yes Jaden Springer is very raw offensively

Still like he he’s definitely has some upside that’s for sure and I don’t think Daryl Murray would disagree with the fact that Springer has some offensive upside but what I completely disagree with and what I think Brad Stevens disagrees with is that is the idea that Springer can’t contribute to a title

Team I know he’s young he’s I believe 21 years old but he has shown flashes of defensive Brilliance and it’s not like you’re going to have to rely on on Springer alone to lock down opposing team’s best players but when it comes to a playoff series you know most teams

Shorten the rotation but you want to be able to not rest your top guys as much as possible but but save them if if you can right you don’t want to exhaust your top guys in the playoff series if you can help it so the idea of Jaden

Springer like you can bring him in and today he can go out there and guard some of the other team’s best players from basically one through four like Springer has that versatility and when you watch him he he’s very aggressive defensively as well right he’s he he’s a very

Interesting player and I think he fits that Celtics built team very well you know s kind of went for some bigger you know thicker bench guys like o Bret and Lamar Stevens before he was sent off but I think Springer is a really nice defensive option especially come playoff

Time because let’s let’s break it down right like Jaylen Brown is one of the team’s best defenders of course we have drew holiday and Derek white as well Brown and Tatum are both plus Defenders but if you can get away with playing Jaden Springer maybe eight to 10 minutes

A night in a playoff series if you need him if the other team is really stacked at the position that Jaden Springer really thrives at guarding the idea of playing him even if it’s not every game even if it’s maybe three games over a seven game set where Jaden Springer

Comes in for eight or 10 minutes and he just works his butt off playing defense on some of the opposing team Stars so you can give some of the Celtics guys a break whether it’s white whether it’s holiday whether it’s Tatum I think that can be perfect and yeah you I’m not

Going to expect him to contribute offensively to a championship team and again he’s gonna have to not be a negative offensively if you want to play him any significant amount of run but I think he fills a very specific Niche for this Celtic Squad that could really

Propel this team almost to another level in the playoffs like imagine facing that starting five in the defensive holiday Tatum Brown and porzingis and looking at the bench and you still have Al Horford to guard some of the big men and then you have Jaden Springer this dog who’s

Going to come out there and guard some of your best players to teams are going to hate that so I think it’s a quite a good sign and completely disagree with Daryl Mor let us s down Bel what do you think about his comments I completely disagree I think Brad Stevens had a

Great response and yeah I do think the Celtics definitely have a bit of a different evaluation than the Sixers do um but we’re going to get into some other stuff and uh there was a well I’ll put up the title card for sneaky Celtic signing look I’m going to preface this

Section by saying I do not think the Celtics will sign either of these players you’re going to know what I’m talking about in a second um but I’ve seen a lot of people talk about the Celtics here like you know because it kind of makes sense right the Celtics

Are still looking to fill maybe a roster spot there’s some you know some some talks about oh who should fill who should not add whatever it is what it is but Jake fiser wrote an article today NBA trade deadline 2024 lowkey day oh I guess yesterday improves odds for summer

Blockbusters now he went through a lot of things in here spoke about a bunch of different teams and a bunch of different ERS but near the end of the article he mentioned some buyout options and he said it’s going to be a competitive landscape now didn’t he has signed with

The Lakers as of the recording of this video so of course this article came out yesterday before he signed you got Lowry you got Joe Harris that young AO por marks all this stuff at the very end he says veterans Danny Green and Rudy Gay are also serviceable players on the

Market looking for homes with teams in the playoff picture and so naturally a lot of people are saying well what about the Celtics some more Wing depth never really hurts I’m here to shut that down I think this is a terrible idea I don’t think the Celtics should go for either

Of these players yes Danny Green has that Championship pedigree and but like I don’t think either of these players should be getting any minutes for the Celtics the only way I see them ever doing something like this is it I’m not bring in Rudy Gay I don’t think that’s a

Smart idea in the slightest I just let’s throw Rudy Gay out the window Danny Green you bring him in for just a bench presence that Championship pedigree that guy who’s going to help you know talk to your talk your guys through some tough times in the playoffs this kind of stuff

Right that’s what you bring in Danny Green for but that’s basically it I don’t think either of these guys are capable to play at all on a playoff caliber team at this point Danny Green has played what like less than 10 games combined over the last two seasons it

Might be a bit more but like played what two games for the Sixers before they said h no you’re you’re done you can’t really play anymore he’s 36 he’s well past his Prime and in theory he’s a three and D guy at one point one of the top defensive guards in the NBA

Especially in transition but he’s not that anymore and I just don’t see him contributing for what the Celtics would need in a playoff push you know you know it’s like like I saw one person Onre they commented like I’d rather convert Peterson Drew Peterson it’s like you

Know what that’s not a terrible idea either and some people say well what about what if the last roster spot ends up going to kada not against that either I think there are other options of players that could actually contribute to a team versus you know the the moral

Support I guess I hate to say that because I love Danny Green right I mean Danny Green is I mean yeah some people might hate him some people might love him he’s had some sense with a lot of different teams I’m also I also like the Spurs so I like Danny Green but

He’s well past his Prim he’s past his days where he can really contribute for a championship team and I just don’t see a world where he gets any meaningful run on the Celtics and at this point while yes that Championship pedigree is valuable I mean you still have guys like

Drew holiday right and you still have white who’s been around that Spurs Organization for so long before the Celtics and it’s like you got guys who who can who can feel those voids right like you got winning guys and Celtics have been to the finals it’s not like

Yeah they lost but at this point I just don’t think what green could provide to this team uh even from a from a support standpoint from sort of a coaching standpoint in a way I don’t think that outweighs the fact that he just wouldn’t be able to contribute at least in my

Mind at this point for a playoff team so I’m out on Danny Green as for Rudy Gay I’m not GNA spend much time on him because Rudy Gay kind of career was like a smling efficiency volume scorer and that’s kind of what he was and he improved his defense at different parts

And he became more of a team oriented guy later in his career as he was getting less and less minutes but I just don’t see way where he plays like I just don’t see a way where he plays at all like I would rather play Jaden Springer

11 times out of 10 over Rudy Gay in pretty much any playoff situation and I mean I know they’re quite different players like let’s be honest that’s kind of not a good comparison to make but just pretty much any bench player I’d rather play over Rudy Gay like I just

Don’t think he has the foot speed to keep up especially defensively anymore he looked quite poor defensively last going out so out on him out on Danny Green what do you guys think I’d rather like when it comes to a playoff spot I don’t think these guys make any sense
