Horn and I thought that the Sixers answered the Bell because it was a very physical game not a lot of fouls it seemed were called but maybe more could have been called we’re going to talk about Ricky Council overall good to get the win it was a great win and the

Reason why it was a great win cuz so many people contributed you know it was up and down game they had they got answers from other people that rang the bell other than Maxi you know councel forget counsel that’s AB a superstar night but let’s talk about everybody

Else who contributed you know guys came to play and I’m happy we got the win yeah six players with double figures including you know Ricky counsil with 19 you got KJ Martin with six Campa coming off the bench with six I mean these These are the contributions you need for

A game like this it’s going to be pretty hard fought yeah obviously uh Tyrese Maxi with the big fourth quarter I thought led the way but I thought buddy H heeld had another terrific game uh you know again let’s put it in perspective he finds out 48 hours ago that he’s on a

Brand new team he just played backto back games uh with very you know little preparation with respect to fitting in with new teamm you’d never know it watching his game tonight well we were just talking about Ricky Council 29 minutes 19 points points and of course a

Game like that it’s going to go ahead and get you the the interview and that’s where we’re going to go to seven of 13 that’s better than 54% see the free throws 10 rebounds double double in about 28 minutes of work first career double double for him

Path was going to be a little difficult got placed on a 2-a on draft night and just been working ever since that summer had a whole lot of doubters non-believers and this moment right I just feels unreal U shout out to coach Nick nurse is giving me the opportunity

And I’m glad we got the win as well tell me a little bit about cuz we all want to contribute right and you’re here you’re on the team but what’s it like to be in the in the fourth quarter to be in the game when it matters and then for you to

Be the difference with your play how’s that feel I mean I feel like just playing with energy and being myself uh coach Rico hin tells me all the time just go out there play this your opportunity no need to shot from the lights um and I know

We’re coming off a tough stretch where we haven’t been winning no game so when I’m on the court I’m just doing everything I can to try to win the game yeah we saw that and we loved we loved your energy and your reactions the flexing and stuff but we were we almost

Love the bench’s reaction more what does it mean to you when you look over to the bench and you’ve got all stars and you’ve got NBA veterans up out of their seats flexing right back at you man it means a lot but to be honest they better

As much as me and tur be cheering on that bench about to jump out our shoes we’ be doing all the celebration so I’m glad they they supporting me as well and I’m really glad we got that win tonight you talked about Nick nurse Rico Hines coaching staff is critical especially

The young players what have they done for you to get you prepared for nights like this man shout out to you T Murray on on team Ray on on the coaching staff we go to work late nights all the time um just working on my shot just just

Staying ready for the moment I mean this feels unreal right now like my brother is here his wife like that’s awesome I’m just I’m just glad they got the witness this night well we are glad for you that you got the win and played so darn well Ricky go celebrate with your teammates

These are guys Nick nurse gave him the opportunity but certainly that’s a lot of behind the scenes work when you see an effort like you saw on the court tonight mark it is Amy you know and I love the P perseverance of this gentlemen you know he he wanted to get

Drafted he didn’t he been continue to work and listen let me tell you something people that that g-league thing is is not for the faint of heart you know the two-way contracts most of them do not get time in the NBA so to fight through that and you know

It’s a it’s a bounty on you when you’re a two-way player and you in the G League them guys want to get what you have they least want to be two-way get opportunity so to to outwork that and be ready for your opportunity this is more tape for

Other teams to see you let Lo your team yeah what do you like to say those who are always prepared always invited there it is and he was certainly prepared you can see why he was invited to play 19 points and hear Kate Scott I mean he had

The energy he was getting fired up certainly games like this are going to feed into not only obviously him for a momentum but the rest of this team seeing a guy like that make the most of an opportunity yeah for sure you could see the enthusiasm on the bench and I

Will tell you that I’ve seen a couple of G of blue coat games early in the season and what you saw the energy and the activity that Ricky Council played with here in the NBA tonight and that’s how he plays every time he takes the court

Be it NBA or G league and that’s why he’s in the position he is right now yeah I mean he was a lightly recruited guy was a three three star athlete I know that’s not everything but lightly recruited went to Witchita State transferred after two years and played

Um at Arkansas as a junior was very good at Arkansas not not a shooter necessarily but you can see a score and something that I thought was really telling this was a close game throughout you know we were up there was about what four and a half minutes ago it was a

Two-point game and you’re thinking all right now four-point game six the Wizards were always still in it to the very end what does it say that Nick nurse was like all right Ricky counsil you help us get to this you know little bit of lead we want you to keep you out

Here in crunch time yeah he expressed the confidence in him and the player delivered as a result and not by coincidence a when it was a two-point game I’ll tell you the next two field goals offensive rebound Kell UB offensive rebound score Ricky Council just Harding those guys going after the

Ball and making it happen yeah you need plays like that when it’s a tight game but that says a lot of trust to put in Ricky Council who is a two-way player and obviously this is the most minutes that he’s gotten in quite a while in a

Game absolutely and he took advantage of that he he put his thumb print on his game he had an impact against these Wizards that make the Wizards GMS like who they was like this who’s this kid again exactly how how did they get him like so is I’m happy for him I’m happy

He got the opportunity I’m happy he took full advantage of it and he helped he was part of this win tonight and that’s a very good sign for things to come it’s always good if an opposing team’s coach just looks at the box score and says

Back-to-back games for the Sixers contributing 20 and then 23 tonight these are much more um appropriate numbers when you look at his you know the back of his card as everybody likes to say but he was a 44% three-point shooter tonight he averages 40% from his

Career but that’s just not all he is he does a lot of different things six assists for steals how about it you Reb at the ball he passed the ball and Mark Jackson had mentioned this and we were talking about it upstairs his ability to

Put the ball on the floor now again I haven’t seen him on a nightly basis like we know let the sixer players but plays like that particularly with his left hand he can get to the rim with his left hand which is a huge asset for a deadly

Three-point shooter as they come running at you to close out and you drive to the basket there you see him put it on for to make a pass and we talked about in the pregame show the ways he’s able to get Buckets and get open Mark and you

Can see that on display in a game like this it absolutely can’t listen we know he’s a shooter he’s one of the best as he came into the league and when he put that ball down they got to run him off the 3.9 like right here I didn’t know he

Had this I thought you know I thought he was just a catch and shoot guy this guy can put the ball down create three now with that being said I knew he was in college he was a scoring machine in college but to see him do that now it’s

Like it’s like I’m happy he’s on our team yeah we were watching out that that same bucket where he just kind of kept sliding he almost kind of like lured the defender in going this way and he just SL Sid him and he traditionally is a

Catch and shoot guy but he showed you has just a little bit more in the tank and the Sixers needed all that and then some we’ll talk a little bit more about Buddy healed also Tyrese Maxi’s night to lead the way at 14 points in the fourth

Quarter alone but yeah it’s been a hot minute everyone I forgot that everyone’s favorite song Mark knows the word so does Jimmy sing it home clap your hands get the win and even just start the game yeah I just uh you know we’re we’re kind

Of for sure have in the rotation and and um uh combination of the back to back too we were trying to move guys in and out and he just he just you know got in there and started rebounding and making some plays and and um you know just you know that’s why I

Always say if you’re if you’re playing those stints can get longer right and if you’re playing well I’m just trying to coach the game as as we’re seeing it out there and I thought um they were small they went small a lot of the game so we

End up with KJ and Ricky and Tobias is kind of our our biggest guys out there right but it was okay with matchup wise and all that stuff but he just you know he just kept making plays he stayed with it he fought he got offensive rebounds made a big huge offensive rebounding

Bucket down the stretch and just and just um you know we were just rolling with what was working yeah I mean he’s been with you guys now for a couple weeks just because you’ve been so depleted just maybe what what has he shown you in kind of that in between

Time that maybe allowed him to to step up the way he did yeah I mean you see how he plays and I think you would you would say well what’s one characteristic you see automatically plays really hard right but he does everything that way like walkth throughs shoot arounds

Practice he’s he’s just got a he’s one of those guys that’s got that kind of motor that is is always switched on he does everything with with good focus and and intensity right so it’s it’s hard you know it’s hard not to like that right Tyrese had one of those quieter

Scoring first halves but was still making an impact rebounding sharing ends the game with a pretty impressive stat line especially coming off of an illness what did you make of the way that he sort of took control tonight yeah I think that you know that’s kind of um

You know especially where we are right now that’s kind of the role or that’s kind of his job right now right he’s he’s he’s not feeling great you can tell that the first quarter really quick stint here and there just just uh what everybody just kind of letting the game

Play out and then they they start they start um picking up a little bit defensively then he’s got to go to work and and create some shots I thought he did an amazing job of of tonight playing through a lot of contact sec in the second half and um finishing finishing

Off some of those things obviously hit a couple deep big threes when we really needed to keep the scoreboard moving um but you know that’s to me like a great leadership job by him tonight right playing that way yeah you’ve talked all week about the importance of picking off

A win sort of whatever it takes um how good did it feel to to have this week culminate in being able to do that yeah I mean it it’s it’s good I mean I think you know again we I’m going into these things trying to figure out how we can

Give ourselves a chance you know to to to win because there’s just so many unknowns right two guys that haven’t had a practice yet and three three G League guys up and all I mean there’s a lot of unknown so I I told the guys I’m proud of you man I

Mean I told him at halftime we’re going to have to G find a way to gut this out cuz we’re it’s hard to keep running and making play cuz it’s you know it’s it’s fast and we played last night and all that stuff and it’s going to be like gut

Check can you just force yourself to play through the play and then if you’re that tired you got to come out and I really think our guys um did gut check a lot of plays and made some tough tough winning plays at the end Nick buddy G

Gave you guys a lot tonight like not just with his shooting he rebounded the ball defense assisting uh is his passing through the first two games has it kind of been more impressive than maybe you even thought when you first brought him in well I think that he understands the

Game right he he really understands it um so he’s going to make a lot of a right plays you know you don’t hardly you don’t hardly ever see him make like a silly play right like a that was such a silly like he he just understands like

You know he’s he’s good at at getting out of screens he’s good when he catches it he knows if he’s got the shot or if he doesn’t supposed to move it on and then he kind of he kind of keeps things moving I think you know he gets off he

Runs to the other side of the floor um he’s creating actions sometimes by does not doing that much but he’s creating space and actions for other guys and I you know one other guy you know Cam’s Cam’s the same he understands what he’s doing out there like you know cam didn’t

What he score didn’t score a ton tonight but um is six assists he was creating offense like when he was out there like we had some stuff going like he was hitting the roll or he was getting in there and firing out to you know some

Shots he and then he you know just just when you needed him to he’d turn on the Jets and go lay one in he was really I thought that was our best sequence of what the offense looked like with him out there it was a little tricky cuz I

Was trying to figure out how when the heck everybody would guard you know um if we went super small um but he certainly made the offense tick when he was in there tonight and then just Tyres buddy like as a combination what did you kind of see from their first outing

Together as as a Duo well you probably saw a lot of that stuff late in the game of them at the top right but but he’s really that’s a skill that he’s kind of really good at is is you know and you saw all the combinations he comes flying

Into that screen and roll a small small and tyres just goes and lays it in the first one they you know the speed confuses them and then they they see it coming again and the next time two guys stay with Tyrese and he’s he’s off the

Ball and he drives it and lays it in with that left hand you know two big layups that we got and it’s just it’s again it’s just hard to guard when there’s speed on the ball and shooting and shooting off the ball uh yeah with with

KJ are you can see obviously a lot of High Praise going around in this one and and Ricky Council Tyrese Maxi you know all the good things that you want after a win but I thought it was really telling that he you know first thing comment was about Ricky Council and that

Has to make a young player like Ricky Council coach feel really good yeah well it should he was a big contributor to this win and it’s nice to see Nick nurse identify that uh you know I think uh one thing we’ve learned about Coach Nur in this short stint you know he’s pretty

Direct with his comments and and usually they’re right on target for me and uh yeah Ricky Council was a confidence uh with the coach and a player responding big time
