What’s up everybody Welcome in to the phnx Suns post game show no sexy sacks on this Saturday evening because the Phoenix Suns fall to the Golden State Warriors 113 to 112 I’m Lindsay that’s Flex that’s espo dang guys that was a terrible way to end this game I’m frustrated I’m not

Concerned I hated the way that game ended they should have won they fought all the way back in a game that they probably didn’t have business coming all the way back in but one good defensive possession in this game is over or one better run play at the end and they walk

Out of golden state with the win uh Steph Curry hits those shots I’m I’m not that’s not a lucky shot from Steph that’s a Steph Curry shot uh and Bradley Beal made the made the wrong choice on the defensive end there but I I hate the game I’m not concerned about the the

Long-term prognosis after it though yeah listen so I’m not concerned about this team long term this is this is about tonight I’m I’m [ __ ] furious I am I’m I’m furious this is a game the Suns didn’t relatively play well at all today especially in the first half right they

They didn’t play well they struggled a lot in the first half to get any clean looks to have to have the game in your Gras to be up two with 2.8 and the fact that you allow Steph Curry to even touch the ball is what’s driving me crazy it’s driving me crazy

Like it’s yo Brad bill gambled on the steel you give him a clean look I think if you play him straight up uh it’s going to be a tough shot for Steph to make and again coming out that time out I I’m emphasizing anybody but staff damn it

Anybody but Steph well yeah I mean if he hits that shot with Beal in his face you go okay you go okay okay you live with it but Beal bit on it he bit on it and it it was not an egregious enough p inbound pass or a pass to Steph there

That he should have been on it he should have cut in front of him and if he had to whip around and shoot over Beal and he hits it fine but that was just a poor defensive decision by Bradley Beal and how is that not everybody going just

Don’t let Steph get in front of you whoever winds up on him if we have to switch don’t let Steph get get past you and pull up for that three and anyway shape or form just stay on him if you foul him you foul him the worst they can

Do you know as long as he’s not shooting is is get two free throws on that like it’s yeah it’s it’s the here’s the thing it’s the cardinal sin because one you know step can shoot the ball from the [ __ ] parking lot so you have to be mindful of that number two with

That spot if you’re going for that steal it better be a steal and if it’s not that’s how you lose so I am as a coach as a player I’m absolutely saying you can’t [ __ ] gamble there it’s one thing you know if you weren’t coming off

Of a timeout the Warriors had taken a timeout right so at that point that should be the message right that should be the complete message is don’t bite anything stay on your man don’t give up a three anything but giving up an open look for three and they don’t do that

And that’s frustrating I don’t know that I would have fouled because you risk with how fast Steph can shoot that you put him in line for three free throws but I would take being in front of him and if he hits it you live with it this

Right call I agree with you what was what was that play I mean why why are book and KD operating in the same exact spot because you give the Defenders both the opportunity to be there I I do not understand that final play and they had time because they sat there and waited

For the refs to take 20 minutes to figure out was it0 seven or0 6 on the clock so they should have had an inbounds play drawn up for that situation and I get it it’s not easy and Allen’s trying to inbound that ball there well the five seconds are running

Out but that just seemed like a horribly horribly designed play yeah it didn’t make sense I’mma Be Honest that play I Believe again I gotta go back and look at it but that play looked like it was a clear Play 4 KD and book had no part of

That play and he just floated out to the top they were in the same spot terrible play just a terrible play and again this is one of those things where in that situation um I’m I’m riding with the hot hand I’m riding with the hot hand the

Hot hand was Devin Booker in that spot and so I can live with forcing one to Devon and Devin shooting off one leg falling out of bounds from 40 feet we lose a game I can live with that but to not even get a [ __ ] shot off forcing

In the middle of of that that was just a bad play I I didn’t get what they were doing um the chat brings up an interesting point they say why not have bull in there too cutting why have B inbound in the ball well yeah I mean get

A better look too sh said LOL I wonder if bull could have blocked the shot well I mean that was ear you could have guarded him on the inbound guy tougher but but it could have been interesting having him flash to the hoop and the thought of gives you an opportunity to

Anything of that sort and and here’s what I here’s what I would have done I’d have put Bobo as the inbound instead of Grayson Allen I want Grayson Allen’s threat to shoot the ball Allen’s a threat to shoot the ball if Grayson Allen gets open you got to respect it so

That frees up book and KD you don’t have a 76 dude on Golden State so you got Bobo inbound and he’s got a clear path to the pass he can see over whoever’s defending him they put Gary Payton on on Grayson there well I get I get it if you

Have time to pass back right because in a lot of cases that the inbounder the most dangerous but you didn’t it’s point six you can’t get it and kick it back correct so that guy’s out of the play so it already it already you already eliminated Grayson I don’t yeah I don’t

Understand what that play is and maybe you go back and watch it and you can explain it to me because in real time it made zero sense to me so yeah and then you don’t you know another thing is you could see Grayson was struggling because

Okay I got to throw it up and a guy like bo boo being able to see the court and being tall and everybody if he’s at his height if he just holding the ball here there’s no one that can contest so yeah I mean but again it’s uh Monday Morning

Quarterback I’m losing my voice because I’m pissed off um so I do want to have a larger conversation about um how teams lose right yeah so you’re not you’re super upset about the way the Suns lost this game I’m not super upset about the way the Suns lost this game I am more

Upset when we have games like we did against the Spurs earlier on in the season but where do you fall look I I’m not you I’m frustrated I’m not concerned I’m frustrated because talking about this one specific game in general we’re not talking about bigger picture I hate

I hate losses to the Spurs like that because it’s a team you shouldn’t lose to and we’ve talked about that I hated all the losses against teams you shouldn’t lose to now golden state has has kind of found their legs again they’re not as bad as their record shows

But what frustrates me is this was a game that didn’t look like you should be able to win you did not play well enough in your game and you had an opportunity to steal it and that’s how you make up for some of those losses like against

The Spurs and stuff is winning some of these games that maybe you’re not at your Peak but you go in and you steal it and you’re on the road like that that’s what frustrates me most about it I hate the Spurs lost more this frustrates me a

Lot though because you you should have been able to steal this one right so I think the reason why the the Spurs one upsets me most is because I mean let’s be honest it’s the Spurs you guys and they completely whooped us like completely whooped us whereas this one

It was in my like the Suns didn’t play the way that they needed to play sure the Suns should beat the Warriors we’ve seen it happened multiple times this season and just looking at these two teams yes the Suns absolutely should have won this game but I just didn’t

Feel like the suns were deserving of winning this game and the fact that they stayed in it though with how poorly they were playing early on was I don’t know it was just a little more I guess encouraging I suppose that like you’re playing like garbage but

You’re still in this game it is still a winnable game where when you fully give up and you allow a team like the Spurs to just completely kill you that hurts me more than this hurts me and I don’t know I’m with you ly I I do see because

This game was winnable and I am upset that they didn’t win it but because they at least showed some signs of life I don’t feel as bad yeah no listen I there’s a lot to be positive about with this game you didn’t play well you on the road golden state has been playing

Really well lately this is a this is a team that’s got Championship pedigree they’re they’re gonna make some noise if they get in the playoffs like they’re spur the G uh San Anon I mean San Warriors or The Warriors um the reason why I don’t lose my mind about like the

San Antonio loss um I think it’s about timing with me too like I think that if if we play the Spurs tomorrow and we lost the way we did to the Spurs tomorrow I would be [ __ ] furious but I think that that early in the season

But even that early in the season like we’re talking Sun Spurs y’all yeah no I get not I get it but I just feel like the reason why that doesn’t bother me because early in the season it was early we had injuries there’s a lot of stuff

Going on no excuses but it’s also a thing Lind that it’s like you understand the realness like you understand that even though you lose to the Spurs you know you’re better than the Spurs and this is a game where you’re like this is this is a good team this is

A team that you can run into I I just that’s what that’s where it is for me I think it’s it’s a matter of and I I also think because we talked about this pregame too you want to talk about timing timing of this game is terrible

And of itself because you had one of your worst shooting nights uh of the year for across the board right guess what happened tonight they won the damn fourth quarter they won 3029 uh so that’s it that’s at least something in the positive category and Devin Booker freaking carried him in

The second half in particular in the fourth right uh so there were some things that I went okay I feel all right about what happened down the stretch it just felt like you could have snuck away with it to and that’s that’s the thing that that can be frustrating plus it’s

Frustrating because you got Draymond Green acting the way he was acting he was acting a fool most of the night and another another prime example it being kind of a little bit emotional within this game I think there were times where where nerk was even leaning into the

Emotions of the drama between him and Draymond both teams kind of leaned into that at certain points as well but then you also get step with that giant celebration which makes you just yeah I mean the whole the whole thing was just like really you fought all the way back

You did this you made the defensive play the Kevin Durant block right was was so great and then you wind up with the Brad Beal having to go into a jump ball and winning the freaking jump ball like all these things you go finally these these things at the end of

A fourth are going your way uh and it feels like you get the momentum and then you get The Knockout Blow from Steph and I think that’s that’s why it bothers you so much because you saw all the opportunities it felt good it felt like maybe we’re even destined for book to

Hit a a a winner at Point seven because of the way he was playing and instead it it ends with that that dud of a of a final inbound too it’s all those factors that make it so frustrating yeah and I wish I can go I’m obviously I’m gonna go

Back and watch the tape but the Brad Beal play where Katie gets the block and they caught a jump ball um I I I I thought watching it live Brad got fouled that that wasn’t a jump ball I thought he was over his back I thought he was on shoulder and I thought

That was a foul and why is that important because if you call that foul there we still got the ball back on the jump ball so that’s going to be the argum people gonna say oh well we still got the jump ball but you got the jump

Ball and the shot clock was short because of the time of possession on a jump ball that’s one so that’s two seconds that we lost and that would have been the foul to give and so now the Devin Booker played potentially at the end as free throws instead of a nonf

Free throw so that one bothers me a little bit I thought Brad clearly had the ball I thought he spun I thought he came over his shoulder to try to get the the his ball in hand they caught a quick jump ball that pissed me off a little

Bit again it’s it’s a it’s a domino effect the Suns had this game won this game should have been over I thought the sun should have won but let me ask both of y’all this to to turn this into a positive thing um the way we were

Playing in the first quarter wasn’t good the way we were playing in the first half it just felt weird the whole game felt like it was the suns were playing chaotic chaotic there was no yeah there was no flow there was no calm it was just very like let’s throw [ __ ] at the

Wall and see what stes oh yeah if they had won this this is a total Bushi it’s a full Bushi like it was not a pretty game no they did not look like themselves the you know there were all sorts of of things that that went wrong

That but that’s why when you look up and they’re up 112 110 and they get it get those defensive stop to lead to that you’re like oh we got this game yeah look at that we got this game despite all that well crap okay and then Steph is Steph I you take nothing

Away from Steph he did exactly what Steph has always done if if I’d have told y’all before the game or maybe after watching the first half I’d have told both of y’all the suns are going to be up to with two seconds left in the

Game and Steph is going to get a 40 foot three would you have taken it just be honest just keep it keep it real and I know open no no no no no I mean again before the game we thought it was potentially a bad game I would have told

You you lose if you give me that scenario I tell you you lose if Steph takes the game win step’s taking that game winner I don’t care where you say it’s on the court I say you’re in trouble at that point so realistically speaking when the suns were down in this

Game and in the first quarter how chaotic it was if ID have told both of y’all right now I got a magic fast forward button oh you you said you’re saying in the fourth not be or in the first not before the game you’re telling me once I see Howa saw how

Cha and then I could fast forward and say you know what guys here’s the scenario we’re g to be up two they’re gonna have the ball with two seconds and Steph is gonna hit a turnaround he’s going to shoot a turn turnaround 40 foot three-pointer uh I don’t know what the

Results are going to be but that’s what’s going to happen will y’all take I’d say definitely [ __ ] taking the Warriors win the game 100% but what I would have they’re in Golden State it’s Steph Curry okay but I think your point is they were playing so

Disjointed would I would I say you know what for poorly as they’re playing yeah I I’ll be okay with that situation because they they came back that’s my point sure but if you still tell me it’s Steph shooted for 40 30 40 I go well they’re losing yeah

Like at any point in this game the suns were GNA win and the fact that they were up two with 2.8 I go home positive I go home saying okay you know what two good teams played today they they they played I mean both teams just went at it very physical game

And so uh yeah I mean you live with it I’m pissed off about it but what I what really bothers me is Frank vogle is supposed to be a defensive Savon you have a timeout that the Warriors have taken before that play and your defense isn’t of the right mindset or set you

Don’t have your best defensive players on the floor what’s the thought process in that that’s what I wonder the most is what’s the thought process and what did you say to your guys did Bradley Beal gamble after Frank said don’t stay in front of Steph and don’t leave that was

That a brad decision I why why was it set up that way are decision I agree I’m sure I’m sure Frank wasn’t saying go for any steel at all cost but but what why are you not having a a a better defensive strategy in that situation why

I leave with in this game and go okay so you didn’t win this one is this a Learning lesson do you shift and can you win in that situation next time because you are going to see this kind of situation the playoffs you are going to

Have games where these guys shoot sub 50 right and you’re fighting and scratching and clawing to get a win and you got to get those wins in the playoffs otherwise you’re going to lose series when you don’t win the 5050 games and that’s what I hope you learn from this game yeah I
