First you got to get excited Tate about the fact that the Hawks were able to go into Philly and do exactly what they should have done get the season series split against the Sixers and I say that because we know that when we looked at the hawk side of things you kind of

Already knew Clint capella would be out right and you knew it was a 5050 for DeAndre Hunter although he has been playing every game since he’s been back on a minute restriction so we figured okay we’ll probably get to see him as well dejonte Murray was the one you

Hoped had come back but as someone who is currently suffering from a back injury when I saw lower back tightness I’m like yeah that’s going to be that’s a tall order that’s a very very tall order so that’s kept him out the last couple of games but you’re also looking

At a Sixers team that are were out the obvious Joel andb DeAnthony Melton what we weren’t aware of until later today was that Tyrese Maxi wouldn’t be able to go due to illness so with their roster taking a little bit more of a hit and these new people like buddy hee not

Really jelling with this team looks to me like that was kind of a no-brainer this should have been a win for the Hawks and you said Deshawn that for you it came down to one thing everything but the nail is what we got tonight exactly everything but that nail which nail the

Nail in the coffin by the way I’m glad that you did mention something about de jante Murray and the back tightness because um listen that’s a that’s a real Beast as you know and outside of that fact you know that’s one of those things where you don’t just walk into a

Doctor’s office or and walk back out with a new back you know that’s that’s that’s just not something that that happens you can do knees and elbows and other extremities but you’re not just coming out with a new back um outside of that you know I was I I was thinking

About when thinking about this game outside of some of the new you know like you already said guys being out already New pieces that was already kind of I feel like Blasphemous already as it is you know they’re kind of premature with the chemistry and the um you know

Inexperience of of playing together so I thought that this was one that the Hawks really really had to hammer home um outside of that I was looking at some numbers and I’m just going to read it here forgive me for how bad it looks optically but I was thinking what does

This team need to do considering all of these things for me to feel confident and feel good about their win right realistically so I felt like that they needed to shoot at Le at least and all of these are minimum numbers 40% from the field they ended up shooting

51 a low uh 40% from three they shot 44% that’s another check 80% from the free throw line they shot 81% singled digit turnovers was one of the ones that I always keying on of course I didn’t get so lucky on that when 13 turnover for our Hawks and then

Um of course in the Fast Break points we started out most of the beginning of this year getting out to into transition being one of the faster Pac teams we always hear Quin Snider head coach talk about Pace Pace Pace four fast break points for this team on tonight I think

That depending on what side of the fence that you live on that’s good because it’s like well that’s something that we have always excelled at at what point in time this year for us not to excel at it in this game and still be able to come

Out away with a win think it’s good but you still got to consider everything all together I would like to see and they’ve been on this kick for whatever reason of not scoring very many points in uh in Fast Break it’ll be nice to see them

Kind of pick back up where they once were and kind of get back off to a uh get get back off to looking good in that department yeah I agree and maybe a lot of that is because of the way they get their three-pointers and kind of the way

That they want to go I don’t want to say with a half court offense by any stretch because that’s not the game they played we know that unfortunately that was kind of the undoing of the previous coach and trying to play a half court offense so

That’s not kind of what they do but I think what we saw tonight was just and maybe these last couple of games as well especially as we’ve seen Ana oku really really do well is whenever they go inside the paint it seems like they’re actually able to execute and Quinn

Snyder is leaning into the fact that hey we’ve got a mismatch inside let’s just take advantage of that and granted that was a good call because what ended up happening was what you like to see more often than not even though the Hawks tend to be a solid three-point shooting

Team they I wouldn’t call them great like they you know once were if you will when they had more three-point threats out there especially when you’ve got to insert Bogi into the starting lineup that takes away an extra threep point shooter so when dejon’s out or sadique

Bay is out and you know that sort of thing although sadique was there tonight my point being a lot of what they spent time doing was just taking advantage of kind of bringing the ball up playing with some decent pace and not just trying to rush their shots really like

Taking advantage of going deep into the 24 second clock I felt like and I think that’s one of the things that kind of I like seeing with the Hawks because oftentimes in the past they’d kind of Rush shots and that would be frustrating didn’t see them Rush shots a lot tonight

Or have I nor have I seen them Rush shots a lot in this stretch where they’ve had more winning games and dare I say even when lot losing they played some winning basketball so if you’re going to give me 46 points in the paint even though that’s what they ended up

Giving giving away as well I’m okay I’m okay if that means that Ana oku if that’s a good night for him then I’m good with that and I felt like that kind of contributed to it being a good night for him however I had some concerns okay you

Know we we don’t overwhelm you with numbers on this show we try to give you numbers that are meaningful and substantive so I’ll give you the numbers that I liked tonight I like 37 I do I like 22 I do I don’t like seven at all

Let me tell you why great the for the 37 like that is so awesome when you look at an amazing stat line where Trey young has now notched the 30th game of his career with 30 plus points 10 plus assists five plus three-pointers made tying him with Dame Lillard for the

Second most such games all time behind both of them of course behind James Harden I’m absolutely always GNA love a stat like that because that’s that kind of thing that puts you in rare air in a space where he does it so very well so yeah I absolutely loved him walking away

This Trey with a stat line of 37 points off of 10 of 21 shooting five of 12 from three because that also tells me that he was shooting efficiently right no doubt and he was taking smart shots okay I like that 22 points I love when you get out to a 22-point lead

Because of course in this this era of basketball that’s seven plus possessions that that other team has to get in order to catch up to you I like that be down seven or 10 possessions and I’m feeling good about life seven points oh I’m not feeling good about life you being

Outscored 35 to 24 and no I do not care who was on the court in the fourth quarter still got outscored by 35 to 2 yeah so you getting outscored by 11 points you then walking away with just a six-point win I I didn’t like that part

Because yes the Hawks did close that’s a beautiful thing it’s something that you and I had had a lot of frustration about in the beginning of the season so we’re good with that but I just want to make sure that and you and I will talk about

It tomorrow night as well hopefully we don’t even have this conversation because it doesn’t Tighten Up This Much towards the end but ultimately speaking just don’t want to go back to that point in time where the Hawks used to Trend and you and I would get on this postcast

The Hawks from our standpoint development is a key feature of who we are and we are watching players continually grow it may not completely cause the results today that we want but we also know that those results are coming we have to continuously hammer out the things we believe are going to

Net us those results and at this point in time yes there are opportunities and deadlines to continuously build that out but that’s where when you’re sitting in our seats you have to be weighing out the short-term and long-term results patience patience patience is key and there’ll be another time for us to make

Moves to the roster but in the meantime there are still moves being made with the roster and that is everything for our guys that are developing day in and day out that’s what we are leaning into and that’s where we ended up at this particular deadline okay DeShaun as we

Say as they say in radio I’ll hang up and listen so and and and listening to that and I mean I’ll just be honest a lot of it just kind of sounds like fluff um that’s why I read the whole thing because I was like dissected yeah no doubt

Um patience is key sounds cute it is also something that we all know is true um don’t blow my head up with things that we already know let’s get down to the bear what is it the bare bottom the Bare Bones the the the the the meat and

Potatoes the nuts and bolts I want those things right so I think there’s something to address when when there are Zero moves made and this roster is continuously starting to look the same each and every single time standing Pat when you have a record that

Is better than 20 no is it 23 and 29 I don’t 24 29 now um then we’re having a different conversation um and you mentioned something earlier about you know Eastern Conference Finals and whatever else there’s not nearly as many guys that are returning from that roster that we have

On this current one so we’re talking about a totally different team a lot of guys that contributed at that time and and you didn’t replace those guys that’s the thing for me where you didn’t replace you didn’t replace the Lou Williams you didn’t replace the cam

Probably be in the top three we’re probably going to just sneak into the top six but we know our boy Joel emb’s coming back like we believe so we’re gonna go stack things too to just make sure we got Shooters so that we can stay

Engage do there it is and what did they do tonight they shot their way back into this game because they know that they can’t defend their way back into a game so I could just go on and on but in looking at those teams and again I do

Charl right they all kind of jump in and out of the seven through 10 but the top five that I just mentioned to you the Hawks have been with those top five those middling fives now for the last four years since that run M but of those middling five teams those teams have

Gotten to the Eastern Conference Finals those teams have gotten to the NBA finals those teams have gotten out of the first round those teams have not been in the playin multiple times and looking at maybe a third time getting in the play in I think that’s where the

Frustration comes in and despite Landry saying that hey he understands the frustration and he knows that hey fans he he gets it but he’s saying patience is key and I that’s why when you said it I was like I gotta touch on that because again yes patience is key but how much

Patience is the fan base of supposed to have now that we’re five years removed from those Glory Days and like I said I am not expecting it to be I wasn’t expecting ECF every single season because if every things happen desun team of course injuries happen it’s a

Long season all I’m saying is we’re having the same conversation multiple trade deadlines multiple free agency periods and It’s just tough after a while to kind of understand what the true direction is and when are you going to get to resulting I think maybe the most discouraging thing about moves not
