[Stein] Rival teams were left with the impression that Dejounte Murray staying and Trae Young being traded away will be a legitimate option for the Hawks in the off-season. The San Antonio Spurs would be atop the list of suitors for Trae Young.

> I can tell you this much: They’ve certainly convinced various rival teams that a Dejounte In/Trae Out course is going to be legitimately considered.

> San Antonio tops the perceived list. The Spurs have circulated for months among prominent league observers as a viable destination for Young’s offensive gifts. In Victor Wembanyama, they also seemingly possess precisely the sort of long and rangy defensive anchor who could mitigate Young’s defensive deficiencies. It is likewise believed in some corners of the league that Young would have interest in South Texas as a destination if he were forced to leave Atlanta.

> The Los Angeles Lakers could wind up on there, too. They have an All-NBA defensive anchor of their own in Anthony Davis and, after declining to make a major move at the deadline, are poised to have three first-round picks at their trade disposal starting on draft night (2029 and 2031 in addition to 2024 or 2025 depending on how New Orleans decides to settle the last obligation remaining from the original AD trade) to make a splashy move on June 26 or thereafter.

Bizarre. You only trade Trae if you’re rebuilding from the bottom, so if that’s the case why keep dejounte ? You’re not building a better team around him then you are around Trae

Thanks for sharing; I came here just for this! I would love to see Trea Young in a Spurs uniform.

I would like to remind people, as ever, that at no point in any of this does it say there have been actual indications that the Spurs *are* interested. It’s “league observers” putting together a “perceived list” that has San Antonio at the top.

I can believe that the Spurs will pick up the phone a few times if Young does indeed come available, but we don’t have any information to suggest it’s happened yet. There’s just a bunch of people saying it would make sense.

This made me laugh. Don’t get me wrong: I love South Texas, but no young multi-millionaire NBA star would ever consider it a destination when compared to *Atlanta*.

The Hawks picks should be more valuable to them than anybody else, so we’re absolutely in the drivers seat for Young IMO. It seems like returning the 3 Hawks picks we control should be worth the equivalent of 4-5 of another teams picks.

Alternatively they blow it up and trade Young to another team, fantastic! We get 3 years of high lottery picks to add to Wemby while being competitive

Do NOT trade any 2025 picks. That would be a horrible mistake.

It doesn’t seem like too many NBA players want to play with Trae. I hope the FO does not pursue this.

I know we have Wembenyama, but making Tre successful (champion) would be nice to get one over Luka/Mavs.

Plz make this happen. Idk why hawks choose DJ over Trae. Trae alone would make us a near play in team, we get to 30 wins even with this putrid perimeter defense

Y’all don’t know the value of players and will say this is an overpay but I would gladly offer all ATL picks back, Spurs 2025, BOS 2027 and Keldon + salary filler. Hawks likely ask for Raptors pick too. If OG gets 2 1sts Ice Trae gonna net 4+ guys be real.

    Ideally keep Sochan and Vassell.
