Chauncey is the Perfect Coach for Scoot

Here’s why:

Chauncey was a PG drafted #3 overall, but struggled his first three years. He was traded his rookie year from the Celtics to the Raptors. The following season the Raptor traded him to the Nuggets. In his 3rd season he was traded by the Raptors to the Magic, where he never got to play due to a shoulder injury. The Magic cut him at the end of the season.

Chauncey was considered by nearly everyone to be a bust through three years.

However, that wasn’t the end of the story. Chauncey was signed as a backup PG to Terrell Brandon by the Timberwolves in 2000 and had the best season of his career so far. The following season Brandon was injured and Chauncey has his breakout season.

He signed with the Pistons in 2002 (his 6th season) and became 3x All-NBA, 2x All-Defensive, and won Finals MVP against the Shaq and Kobe-led Lakers.

Now he’s being considered for the Hall of Fame.

What all this means is that there is probably no coach in the league who is better suited to teach a young PG how to succeed than Chauncey Billups.

  1. Chauncey is the perfect head coach for no one. Ok maybe a peewee team

  2. What if he just — like — a good friend and mentor? Lol an ex-coach perhaps?
