[Stein] Rival teams were left with the impression that Dejounte Murray staying and Trae Young being traded away will be a legitimate option for the Hawks in the off-season. The San Antonio Spurs would be atop the list of suitors for Trae Young.

> I can tell you this much: They’ve certainly convinced various rival teams that a Dejounte In/Trae Out course is going to be legitimately considered.

> San Antonio tops the perceived list. The Spurs have circulated for months among prominent league observers as a viable destination for Young’s offensive gifts. In Victor Wembanyama, they also seemingly possess precisely the sort of long and rangy defensive anchor who could mitigate Young’s defensive deficiencies. It is likewise believed in some corners of the league that Young would have interest in South Texas as a destination if he were forced to leave Atlanta.

> The Los Angeles Lakers could wind up on there, too. They have an All-NBA defensive anchor of their own in Anthony Davis and, after declining to make a major move at the deadline, are poised to have three first-round picks at their trade disposal starting on draft night (2029 and 2031 in addition to 2024 or 2025 depending on how New Orleans decides to settle the last obligation remaining from the original AD trade) to make a splashy move on June 26 or thereafter.

  1. Translations. Teams are more willing to put a package together for Trae than Dejounte because he’s better and are hoping the Hawks are so desperate for a trade that they make the deal

We’ve been over this multiple times already.

Keeping DJ and trading Trae most likely hurts Ressler’s pocket, so I still doubt this happens unless Trae asks for it.

  4. Atl-Fan_FTS

Please don’t start this dumbass shit again

  5. Because listening to trade packages for DJ screams I wanna keep him and trade Trae.

  6. DripGodAirborne

“Rival teams were left with the impression” 😂😂😂 Landry Fields be messing with these teams, as if something like this would ever happen!

Trae Young is the Atlanta Hawks. He’s NOT getting traded anytime soon. Our front office is not incompetent; I expect them to make off-season moves to strengthen the roster around Trae. We all know that teams were trying to pry away pieces from us for trash (remember those Dookie Lakers trade rumors?)

  7. Rival Team: “Hey, how about sending us Trae Young?”

Hawks: “Yeah sure. We would love to. Great idea. LOL”

Rival Team: ”I think they’re being serious. We should let Marc Stein know.”

I’m a Hox fan so don’t wanna see him go, but a Wemby-Trae pairing would be absolutely disgusting and probably Trae’s only real path to a ring.

Even entertaining the thought of trading Trae, what could the Spurs trade that even remotely comes close to his value?

All their picks would be late firsts if they get him (unless we want to bet on Wemby busting which I think is like hitting on an 18 in blackjack).  Getting our picks back from the DJM trade would be the only great pieces (since presumably we’d bottom out and blow everything up)

Giving up Trae for essentially the package that got DJM plus Vassell/garbage picks in addition seems fucking insane

I’m sorry but I cannot get off this post. The league is so thirsty for more Hawks drama and Landry flat out cockblocked all the bs by not trading anyone. Small Hawks W for Landry😂

  11. And I’m left with the impression that Megan Thee Stallion is in love with me. Being delusional is so fun!

So Pop didn’t want Trae on Team USA and thought Derrick White was better but now wants to trade for Trae. Interesting development.

This front office needs to start fighting back. Publicly announce your support behind these guys and most importantly, start spreading rumors about these other teams. It feels like other front office execs just say this shit so players on our team see enough of it and eventually want to leave

Maybe I’m wrong but I’m just so tired of the trade talks constantly surrounding this team

  14. MrWetPoopz

Absolutely not—this is not being considered at all.

Now I have as much proof as these dweebs, but our owner likes money. And Trae makes him wayyyyyyy more money than Dejounte.

Trae puts butts in seats. DJ Capitalizes Every Word As A Personality Trait.

  15. StraightCashH0mie

    Wemby for Trae straight up.

Honestly that would makes much sense as this rumor.

  16. Shade_Raven

DJ is cheaper than Trae and We know about Ressler

The same people who said bill was coming to the falcons is the same ones reporting these sources… THESE PEOPLE DONT KNOW…

  18. Ball4life6

I hate the media so much. They really think hawks are a farm team

I might kill myself if I was this bad at journalism tf

  20. Shade_Raven

I wish I had faith it was untrue but this FO and Owner are deeply unserious

  21. Doc_Mechagodzilla

Trading Trae only makes sense if all of our picks come back from San Antonio as well as a couple of rotation players. Doing so would severely lower the ceiling of the team but I don’t think it would leave the Hawks rebuilding. Hawks would then need to retool and acquire the best SF possible on the market or get lucky in the draft.

  22. jumboponcho

Trae and ownership are bffs, Trae isn’t going anywhere

I think the team could explore this after they realize how much they fucked up with the Murray deal. They got a glimpse of what his real trade value is this deadline and it should be an eye opener. I really don’t see how they get much better this offseason. They are still going to be a play in team that’s going to avoid the tax, so another rotation guy is going to go. And the coaching hasn’t exactly given me any hope that Quin can elevate this roster. I get that Trae is the best player on this team, but what good is this team with him, if they are just a 7-10 seed each year without their draft picks? Im tired of this team not being good enough to not have to play their way in to the playoffs. And the harsh reality is that trading Trae could be the best thing for this team LONG term. The hawks messed up so much since he got here that I don’t think they can right the ship. Not with this roster and not with this front office/ownership. I will say that if they do go this route, just ship off Murray as well and start over. I’m clearly not as emotionally invested in Trae as some in here. And the coach did say that everyone would be evaluated when he was hired. That means that Trae should be as well.

  24. ahend1999

Trae Young and KOC are like Lebron and Skip Bayless

  25. The_Truth_Hurts_Yu

What a surprise. If only someone saw this coming

  26. Kingsole111

You cannot trade Trae unless there is another 2018 type draft. Trading a star (top 15-1) player without the possibility of acquiring such a player is a bad move. Almost always.

Star trades fail almost always. The league is normally distributed with the higher tail weighted so so much. A star is worth 4 players (starter quality). So 5 picks is almost always a steal for such a player.

Sports journalism is a joke. These mfs get paid to do what regular fans do all day lmao
