Nothing is guaranteed in this league and I’m not taking a victory lap, but just want to give a shout-out to the dude who so many said, “will get snapped like a twig the first time he has to play an NBA center.”
Health is often times a lot of luck, but there’s no denying this dude is tough as nails.
A lot of people are getting worked up over the ROY race, but I honestly don’t care and I’m glad that Chet is not trying to force things to improve his odds, he’s just playing winning basketball.
Wemby is probably going to win it because he has more eye-popping games and will have more counting stats and he’s doing exactly what he should be doing on a crappy team.
I think the Spurs got exactly what they needed in Wemby. I think the Magic got exactly what they needed in Paolo. I think OKC got exactly what they needed in Chet. And I think all 3 guys went to situations that are great for them. Really a win-win-win situation for everyone.
Chet is the perfect player to form a big 3 with high-usage players like SGA and J-Dub. Chet’s not going to get the touches those other two bigs will: Paolo – 17.7 FGA / Wemby – 16.0 FGA / Chet – 11.8 FGA.
But when Chet gets a shot, he’s much more efficient: Paolo – 49.7% eFG / Wemby – 51.7% eFG / Chet – 61.6% eFG
And when you are playing alongside guys like SGA and J-Dub, efficiency is paramount. Chet wouldn’t be able to create his own shots at the level Wemby and Paolo do, but they also would never be nearly as efficient as him if they were in his place in OKC. On top of all that, his defensive impact is unbelievable. He just ties everything together perfectly.
I’m just really glad to have this dude in OKC blue.
Also, special shoutout to Cason as well. He deserves his own post sometime, but so excited about how good he already is and how high his ceiling is. And along with Chet, they are the only two players to play in all 54 games this year. What a rookie class!

Crazy how many comments from other subs and YouTube I saw last season saying he’s already a bust and will never play more than like 40 games in a season. Turns out freak injuries can happen at any point in a player’s career, and it just happened to Chet at the beginning of his

Sports are dumb. A post like this shouldn’t make me irrationally nervous but it does 😂

But I thought he was an injury prone bust who would get hurt in the first month?? /s

This is huge. I thought we’d be super careful with him this year…give him rests on b2b and limit his minutes often. If I had to guess, Chet shut down any talk of load management.
