‘I came here with a dream’ – Pascal Siakam on his return to Toronto with the Pacers | NBA on ESPN

Oh by the way I think Rick Carle is pretty happy this cuz he’s got family up here Rick is actually from upstate New York and he had some family come over to see but his guys dug one out this is the kind of thing you’re going to have to do

Chris you come after the break you’ve got to grind some games out you lose some guys but you got a guy here in SE yakum that has to be extraordinarily pleased about the way his team played coming back to Toronto getting a w listen he’s with JJ everyone wanted to

Give Pascal seak a hug a high five or a handshake you said you were looking forward to being back to seeing familiar faces but the most important thing would be to get a win how are you able to do that tonight yeah no um they came out

With a lot of energy uh they played well I thought you know just proud of the guys for staying with it um nobody was panicking just continue to execute the game plan and um at the end there we was able to get more stops and we got the

Win everyone mobbed you they also mobed Ben Shepard he’s isolated on RJ Barett what did you see there and how much of a big play was that by the rookies no I love I love that I love that um we’ve been on him a little bit you know like

And he came out he responded guys are out um you know I’m proud of Ben for that you know just come in work hard I see him every day you know he just a good kid and um you know I love when good things happen to good people so he

He he played his ass off today but I know Monday was a disappointing loss how much did this team just need to rally and do whatever it takes because you’re short-handed you’re without miles you’re without Ben you’re without Jaylen Aaron goes down and all that mattered to get

Was to get a win yeah no for sure like we needed that win and again guys going to go out but we just got to keep keep rallying together um stay together and I’m just I’m just happy to be on this team man like I and and I want to give

Everything that I have and we’re still figuring out each other and I think you know the sky is the limit for us you look up in section 119 before the game everyone had your jersey on I know that meant a lot to you when you were coming

Into the league what did that mean to you tonight this entire experience incredible man like little SC kid from Cameroon man like you know I came here um like just with a dream you know just trying to trying to make it in the NBA and and and I could count you know

Jerseys my first day I couldn’t see any Jersey when I was here just to see that whole crowd that whole section of my jersey like it means it means a word to me you know like and and um I’m I’m humbled and I’m blessed to be to be part

Of this and um you know this will always be my home so I’m I’m I’m happy that you know they responded this wasn’t just another game this meant something to you yeah for sure it did congratulate thank you great job JJ great to hear from past

G cakam he was six of eight from the field in the second half H had an eight-point first half a 15-point second half hit a big shot Quin down the stretch to give the Pacers some breathing room and Indiana gets the win well he really did and the Pacers the

Willing they put the ball in his hands he’s Allstar he’s all NBA he’s going off the court here Chris I’m watching fans still staying and cheering him on [Applause] [Applause] is

  1. Pascal had tears in his eyes when asked about Toronto. Players from outside of Canada underestimate how special it is to play in the North and have a whole country embrace you. Listen at the way all the former players talk about Toronto. FVV, OG, Ibaka, Powell. Derozen never wanted to leave. This place is different.
