National Media Really Wants Us to Be Utah 2.0

I mean we’ll see. I do wish we had more playoff experience on this team. Maybe we do collapse like a dying sun, but there are a lot of reasons to think this team can compete with anyone. The defense travels, the chemistry is real, the offense is improving its efficiency, the bench plugged a hole, we’ve beat every last damn title competitor, and Ant is just getting better and better.

  1. People forget we’ve been to the playoffs twice now and we have a ton of guys with a bunch of playoff experience on this team: rudy, kyle, mike, monte morris, etc.our team is built around rudy way better than utah was too

  2. Hilarious. OKC is a tough matchup. But if our record says anything no way we lose to lakers and mavs if healthy. Calling it now

don’t click the link without ad block. That’s the only reason anyone writes clickbait garbage like that. The one play is PG getting away with a full arm extension and Ant tripping on his foot. Most of us saw the rest of that game where Clips got locked up

  4. Responsible-Leg-8840

Deadspin is a few scab writers and AI now.

Defector is what you’re looking for when you are looking for the Deadspin of way back then.

  5. This is clickbait AI generated bullshit not the national media

  6. Call us Jazz 2.0 is weird because despite sharing Rudy as a defensive centerpiece, we are built way differently.

Jazz were Rudy doing it all on defense. While you surrounded him with shooters that lacked on defense.

We are built completely on our defensive identity. Where the top 8 rotation all play defense. Even guys like Naz and KAT who struggled in the past are passable to good now.

  7. Who cares. I can’t wait til the playoffs so we can stop seeing these “They don’t respect us” post 5 times a day.

Oh ESPN had a discussion about who is currently the best team in the western conference. Denver was talked about for 2 minutes and they are the reigning champions so that’s fair. Even though we beat them by 20 earlier this season. They talked about OKC and us for maybe ten seconds. Then proceeded to glaze the Clippers for 7-8 minutes. Because they have 3 HOFers and had that great stretch of 25-5 or whatever. Didn’t mention how we bullied them in both games this season

It’s deadspin it should be disallowed from this sub

  10. Soopstoohot

Don’t let this article bother you. This guy is a terrible writer and has clearly not watched the team, including this game where we kicked the shit out of the media darlings to come out of the west while they played small ball and got smacked around.

  11. goingtothegreek

Chemistry is infinitely better than the Jazz where all you ever heard was Mitchell not liking Rudy and the denying it publicly. This team is built differently both in personnel and vibes

  12. The only way we are not winning the ‘chip is if the refs are out to get us, which is a real possibility.

I don’t see us choking. Defense isn’t really something that you can “choke”.

  13. placated

This is literally a guy with a few hundred Twitter followers trying to farm your hate engagement. Just ignore it.

  14. fantasygod777

Give me Marcus Morris and this team is unstoppable (not that he is a savior or anything but he gives our lineups so many possibilities with amazing insurance.

  15. Throebach

That article is just proof they either don’t know ball all that well or they do not watch wolves game besides catching highlight reels..

  16. MannerSuperb

This guy is a dumbasss lol Utah d didn’t have the wing defenders we have. They not sniffing a jaden McDaniels calibsd defender and ant is in a diff level defensively than Mitchell. What a bullshit article

  17. JustSeriousEnough

PG crossed ANT over that one play in the Clippers v Wolves games so thus, Clippers will have no problem with the Wolves in the playoffs.

Serious rocket science going on in that article.

Remember when deadspin was cool like 15 years ago

If the Jazz are the prototype, we are the nearly finished version 5.0 product. There’s so many upgrades aside from the depth and obvious presence of elite wing defenders.

Not many people point out that aside from Rudy, we have TWO more All-NBA caliber players, both willing to pass to Rudy and do the dirty work (unlike a certain former jazz SG). Imagine if the Jazz turned Royce O’Neal into KAT overnight in 2022. Imagine how much more talented everyone would think the Jazz were. That’s what we have right now, plus more.

Anything Deadspin writes should not be taken seriously.

This article was written by a 12 year old who consumes the NBA strictly through Sportscenter highlights and years’ old narratives.

  22. theinternetisnice

One big difference, that year we were the number one seed, I remember we didn’t really have many good statement games against other top seeds. Seems like we always shit the bed against the Suns and the Celtics and such (though we were Milwaukee’s nightmare). Y’all have a good handful of wins against elite teams.

  23. PeekyAstrounaut

This is a lazy article but I’ll bite. We have been to the playoffs the last 2 years with the core of this squad. That’s great playoff experience before we put things together. Ant has all but arrived, KAT is playing amazing basketball and Rudy is leading contender for DPOY and more than that, they are all gelling. You have to go down to the end of our bench to find guys who don’t have experience or aren’t playing at the top of their games.

  24. Bigchonky3

I think that was the weakest article I’ve ever seen written. If that game is foreshadowing the playoffs…great we will sweep the clippers.

  25. butt_luncheon

It’s an easy comp with Rudy/Mike and a good regular season. Outside of that though, the teams are vastly different. You can say ANT and Mitchell are similar comps, but the Jazz never had another player of KAT’s caliber or the wing defenders we have. Utah did have some great shooters though.
