How Michael Jordan Ruined the Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets once a respected upstart franchise starting in the 1989 NBA season was at one point a team who had a lot going forward only existing for 14 Seasons from The Duo of Larry Johnson Alonzo Morning that ended prematurely trading for Glenn rice and Anthony Mason who had their time in the
Sun and playing soon to be Colt hero Mugsy boges and one of the best Shooters of the 90s Dell Curry but as the Hornets became riddled with controversy which we get into later the Hornets moved to New Orleans and rebranded as the New Orleans Hornets however after 2 years of a
Hiatus of no Charlotte basketball the Hornets came back as the final expansion franchise becoming the Charlotte Bobcats in the 0405 season and as Charlotte sports fans reveled in reliving the good old days what they didn’t know is the Bobcats and soon to be Hornets will become the most disappointing franchise
In the NBA spanning 20 whole years whether it was making horrible draft selections that aged like milk owners making moves that hindered the team or signings that that push back the team rather than pushing it forward these are the many type of blunders we will talk about that creates the Charlotte Hornets
Only making the playoffs three times in 20 Seasons going through eight different coaches drafting only three Allstars and of course owning the worst record in NBA history at one point this is the Charlotte Hornets the Eternal rebuild but before we get into this video as you
Can imagine this video took a very long time to make so if you want to see more content like this be sure to leave a like comment subscribe for the next long deep dive and finally tell me what team’s era you want me to review next
Now as usual you already know who it is W it’s over it’s over ladies and gentlemen as I mentioned earlier the Charlotte Hornets was a team that was actually on the rise coming out of their last season which was the 20012 2002 season where they earned a 44 and 33 record and made it to the playoffs with
The third straight season off the backs of Jamal murn and a third season Baron Davis that made his first All-Star appearance but as the Hornets who are enjoying their rise of their team with many great pieces to grow off of we’d see controversy arise from the owner of
The team that would cause the end of the Charlotte Hornets as we know it the then owner George shin has become Public Enemy Number One Charlotte as in 1997 he was accused of sexual assault which caused people to go against him and to stop supporting the Hornets and then he
Continued to become unliked by the masses as the owner wanted to upgrade the facilities of the Hornet franchise and build a state-of-the-art new Arena however like many owners of sports history he wanted the city of Charlotte to build set Arena at no cost to himself
And on these cities dime and if the city refused he would move the team to a new location and let it be known that Charlotte call cm where the Hornets played at the time was already considered state-of-the-art and was built in 1998 he mainly didn’t like it
Due to the fact that he didn’t have a lot of luxury boxes included and many other things and as the city refused for obvious reasons George Shin would look around for relocation at first he wanted to go to Memphis Tennessee but the Vancouver Grizzlies W that big then it
Was St Louis but its Arena was already being used by the St Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and was told that even if he did move there the NHL team would be prioritized over them in the Arena’s time but as talks went cold the city of Charlotte would actually
Entertain sh’s offer and create a new arena in uptown Charlotte but it came with some interesting ordinances from the city where the people working there would be affected and once you hear it you can truly understand how the owner got eventually ran out of town the arena
Would be built and shin would take down his move request but the mayor of Charlotte Pat mccy would veto a living wage ordinance which would mean city workers would make enough money to live in the city itself which was protested by many people in the city as you can
Imagine so with the city officials feeling the heat they made a plan to create an arena but it would come with the exchange of shin selling the team which he obviously didn’t accept with the city now on the bad side of its citizens and shin being mostly hated as
A figure for his Antics the NBA eventually had to step him themselves to solve this issue and came with a compromise for both sides plus they didn’t want what happened in Charlotte to be more of a common occurrence with other owners as if one person got away
With it many of the other owners were try to do the same thing so the NBA gave Shin the opportunity to move to New Orleans and start a franchising the upstate Market there only having the New Orleans Saints at the time and in exchange the Hornets in Charlotte got to
Restart as a new franchise after a couple of years obviously to make some of that heat die down both sides get what they wanted Shin got a new franchise and gets to avoid the heat of the fans in Charlotte not liking him for his earlier Antics and the Charlotte
Faithful get a whole new franchise to en join with new ownership and a brand new Arena a very ugly start and precedent for the future but even before the Bobcats will even play their first game in Charlotte it all started from a very ugly origin that even surprised me but
That is how the Bobcats came to be and the start of our story Begins the Charlotte Bobcats is officially the 30th team to join the NBA as a franchise and obviously the Charlotte populace is excited for Hoops to return New Management taking over and the brand new Time Warner Arena and this
Time management would be for the people and once you hear some of this you’ll probably get a little bit of a laugh out of it the original bidding process for the franchise for ownership was actually pretty Fierce with an opportunity to be a part of the NBA even Larry Bird put in
A huge bit to own the bobcast before he eventually become a major staff member with his home State team the Indiana Pacers the winning bid actually went to Robert L Johnson and if you don’t know that name uh he’s the owner of Black Entertainment Television bet which made him the first ever African-American
Majority owner in the United States and one of the minority owners you wouldn’t believe it the rapper Nelly so we’re off to a funny start the Bobcats name itself before they became the Bobcats was actually voted upon the city’s residents and it came down to the dragons for some
Reason the Bobcats or the flight which eventually won at first because you know the Wright brothers became the first pioneers of flight as we know it and taken place in Charlotte North Carolina but owner Johnson denied that as it was a little bit too unorthodox and interestingly enough a little bit too on
The nose to the current air strike efforts in the Iraq War the world post 911 again pretty interesting anyways the Bobcats were chosen due to the animal being a primary predator in the Charlotte Wildlife but people suspected the name to also be a play on words to owner Robert Bob Johnson again an
Interesting franchise we have here the Bobcats would then name their first coach and general manager of the team and it was current Cavaliers coach father Bernie Bickerstaff who at this point didn’t have the best coaching record in the league being the coach of the suponic with Dale Ellis and Xavier
McDaniels and after the fact coach Denver and a tiny STI in Washington but obviously as an upstart franchise in his infancy stage your options are probably pretty limited but now comes the expansion draft and for the people who don’t know how that works every NBA gets to have protections on eight players
That they’re choosing but have to at least give up one if you don’t already have eight on contract or more than one if you own 10 or more there’s usually aren’t too many examples of players who get picked up by an expansion team and turn out to make their former franchise
Regret it so these players are obviously thought to be replaceable or was already one foot out of the door already so now we have our first look at this bobcast roster after set draft and is an interesting group of players if you look at your screen most of these guys were
Guys who are only playing a couple years in the NBA at most players who were in the free agency that year which meant the Bobcats would have to make a brand new contract W said player or a bunch of well randoms really out of the 19 players selected only eight ended up
Playing for the team Lonnie backer a second round pick in 2002 peras b a European 7-footer Jason Kono a second round shooter drafted with LeBron James Cavaliers Jamal Samson another second rounder Tamar SLE another second rounder who barely played on the New Jersey Nets teron Smith an undrafted player from the
Grizzlies jii white the oldest player drafted in a long time Washington Wizard and finally Gerald Wallace a bench warmer with the Sacramento Kings and with that done comes the Bobcat’s first ever draft selection and usually given the fourth pick the Bobcats were looking for a certain Prospect they had in mind
So they already were getting active and making their first ever trade with the Los Angeles Clippers getting the second pick in exchange for taking away a player in their expansion draft and giving them picks four and 33 and with high school Phenom Dwight Howard taking off the board at number one the Bobcats
Believe they got the second best option available with the second pick in the 2004 NBA draft the NBA’s 30th and newest team the Charlotte Bobcats select AA okaf for from the University of [Applause] Connecticut the first ever draft pick for the Charlotte Bobcats is a pick that
Everyone expected and it is EA okaf for EA okaf for coming off his National Championship at Connecticut was one of the best bigs in the college ranks and have been able to honestly be in a 2003 NBA Draft class with the numbers he put out in his final season he put up 17
Points 11 boards and four blocks of game which led the nation in every season since his freshman year as he put up four since he came into the college ranks he had NBA potential since his freshman season and now as a polished product after 3 years he is looking to
Make a splash in the NBA as the headline player of the Charlotte Bobcats While others on the board would turn out better obviously I don’t see any reason why he still wouldn’t be picked at number two for what he did in the college ranks and again obviously speaking we won’t know about what
Happened to him later but we’ll get to that later but while they made their first Big Splash in the draft the Bobcats still needed to fill out their roster and they rounded it out with soon to be journeyman Jason Hart traded their 2005 and 2006 second round picks for
Eddie House at Melvin Eli graded for second round pick of the Hawks in 2006 and signed playmaking guard Brevin Knight and Sharpshooter Steve Smith who at this point was 35 years old and with training camp ending in a one in5 preseason the Bobcats are now ready to start their inaugural NBA season their
First game against the Washington Wizards and with their starting lineup of AA okaf for Brevin Knight Gerald Wallace Jason Kono and Pras B well they lose that game 103 to 96 and turn over the ball 19 times but at at least their second overall pick AA okaf for showed
Out in his first game with a 19.10 rebound double double leading his team but obviously this team is going to need a lot of work and it’s expected the bobcat in general struggled as a unit and their stats said it all they had the third worst offense the 11th worst
Defense shot 70% as a team for the free throw line had a team average of 43% and despite taking the most two-pointers in the NBA and had the third lowest attempts from three had the second worst two Point shooting percentage as a team in the NBA but you know what despite
Their shortcomings as a team there are positives that will serve well in the future as an expansion team that isn’t expected to do well in the first place ICA okaf for is rookie season impr press from all ends and with a few seasons of tweaks could be a great big man in the
League averaging 15 points 11 rebounds in a block and a half he go on the win Rookie of the Year in a wide margin and with that people already recognize EMA as having potential in this league he already finished fourth in the league in rebounds a game fifth in offensive
Rebounds and 14th in blocks a game so the sky is the limit as the Bobcats slowly figure things out roster wise he’s got plenty of time to do the same with his game outside of that you have Brevin Knight being a nice f as a playmaker averaging nine a game despite
The horrible offense from the team Primos being a diamond in the rup as a center using his height to his Advantage averaging a second best 13A game and Jason Kono being as advertised as a shooter but I think what was most unexpected was Jared Wallace once a bench warmer for the Sacramento Kings
And now as a starter for the Bobcats showed himself to be a great interior threat finishing wise and an allaround Defender garnering the most nice steals per game and averaging an amazing 1.3 blocks per game just like that the Bobcats have found both the defensive anchor in the paint and their best
Defender on the perimeter in one off season will be playing together for years to come but again they sucked putting the ball in the hoop so in their first season they earned a record of 18-64 the second worst record in the NBA tied with you guessed it the New Orleans
Hornets funny enough and better than the Atlanta Hawks who only won 13 games so going into the next season they have some sort of a foundation for the future and even with a terrible record it has its bright spots but in a really good 2005 draft and with a fifth pick due to
Some Lottery Shenanigans the Bobcats have another chance to add a new layer towards their future as a franchise after a full of existing as a franchise the Bobcats have now found two players they can truly say can be the base of their team for the future to
Come in second overall pick of the Season before IM Mecha okaf for expansion draft selection Gerald Wallace there is more that needs to be done obviously and one of those things is hitting it big in the 2005 NBA draft as I said before they did get screwed in
The draft lottery as the Bucks jump from 6 to1 and the Blazers went from 4 to three leaving the second and third worst teams in the NBA the Hawks and the Bobcats and in the fourth and fifth spot the draft lottery can be really cruel but with that they miss out on
Australian bigman Andrew bogot UNC star Marvin Williams and the two best point guards of the class Chris Paul and Darren Williams who would have for sure been there if the lottery stayed the same with no changes but now this leaves the Bobcats in an interesting position the 2005 class is pretty topheavy in
Retrospect and didn’t really have too many players that even survive past the rookie extension deals so with the Bobcats getting rurally screwed they have to make the most out of this and pick up their second ever first round draft pick and that pick was used on UNCC Tar Hill Raymond felon just like
How mea okaf for was drafted as a champion in college Raymond was a top 10 recruit in the 2002 High School class went to UNC and won the national title in his junior year just like Hima Oka 4 2 he put up similar numbers since his freshman year and could have left
Earlier if he wanted to but considering this is 2005 the one andd done culture is not what it is like how it’s done now but I can imagine he was drafted as the third best best option for being the franchise point guard behind D will in
CP3 and just like how they got second best Nea Oka for getting third best ain’t that bad here as is shown that he’s a winner and a productive guard scoring wise also with the 13th pick they received from the Suns as a deal to draft jiti white in the expansion draft
Getting rid of some of that cap space the Bobcats drafted his teammates and top scorer on that UNC team sha May another proven and grown product in that UNC system that can easily translate well in the n level it could potentially be a Mecca’s front Court mate of course
Some of y’all who know a lot about the 2005 NBA draft can talk about how the management missed out on couple of Allstars and really good players but for now let’s just focus on the people they try to pick up as nothing too bad was missed and their reasoning for what they
Picked up was definitely sound the bad stuff and I mean the really bad stuff will happen later and with a very quiet off season the Bobcats are ready to start their third ever season however with the team improving all around from the draft and progression as a team
Tragedy will strike EA okafo will sustain a ankle injury that would leave him out for the entire season and only playing 26 games in his sophomore year sources believe that it was due to acha okore gaining nearly 20 pounds in the offseason and the extra weight caused
Him to mess up his rehab of his ankle from the season before and to be out due to having to basically start all the way over on that rehab due to that the Bobcats missed out on his sophomore year but others would show that they can actually do something in his place
Gerald Wallace the second in command would absolutely go wild in his second ever season as the Bobcat with his first season being a top Defender he would find himself going even further Beyond as a Defender this year jarald Wallace would average a team High 15 points a
Game on 53% shooting but was eye opening was the fact that Gerald Wallace averaged two blocks and two steals a game which ranked him first in steals per game and 11th in Blox per game as a 6’7 forward but what’s even more impressive is that to this day the only
Players to ever achieve that feat is Akim alaguan David Robinson and now Gerald Wallace joins that club but due to him only playing 55 games in his sophomore year as a bobcat he didn’t make the all defensive team or even get much dpy looks Jared Wallace has now
Cemented his spot on the team as a Cornerstone and future all NBA Defensive product and as an added fun fact Brevin Knight was actually second place in the NBA steals per game behind Gerald making his position on the team as a playmaker and Defender even more solidified as he
A a his usual 8 to n assists per game but what about the rookies that were drafted just a summer ago well Raymond Felton would eventually become a full-time starter but his numbers don’t really pop out at you averaging 12 points and six assists a game shooting
Below 40% from the field but most guards don’t come in looking amazing so he can get a pass for that and should improve as he gets used to NBA defenses and for Shawn may he suffered a season ending knee injury only 20 games in and in that
Time he didn’t look the best himself but as the 2005 season ended the Bobcats would end with a record of 26 and 56 an improvement of eight games and led the NBA and steals getting 10 a game and causing a crazy 17 turnovers a night but the stats still showed that they sucked
At scoring shooting a League worst 43% however things will get interesting in Charlotte North Carolina after the season ended as there is now a new owner in town and his name was Michael Jordan no not Michael B Jordan Michael Jeffrey Jordan one of the best players in NBA
History and postretirement as we all know he was very active in GM roles all over the NBA and this time around he wants to be an owner and a general manager of this team for the Charlotte Bobcats with him taking a minority Stak in the franchise and also making a deal
That would make him the head of basketball operations while Bernie bicker staff would still keep his GM job Jordan gets to say the final say in anything that happens with the team’s composition and for those who don’t know post playing with the Wizards Jordan has had a very interesting tenure already
Ready as a one-time GM that only lasted a season and a half as we all know he is credited for drafting quame Brown in the 2001 draft and potentially being the reason he never turned into anything he was also the reason Richard Hamilton became a Detroit Piston training for
Jerry Stackhouse who was 28 years old at the time but sources claimed it was because he was biased towards UNCC players and thought Jerry would be more helped towards the Wizards winning something immediately than Richard Hamilton who was already doing good at only 21 years old so already he has a
Very interesting resume coming into Charlotte but this could be an opportunity to make Charlotte a city of Champions and of course considering his resume as a player well this would be the first opportunity to show his GM prowess in the 206 NBA draft and potentially draft someone that he deems
As good enough to take over the franchise as a player with the change in management the first way to impress your fans and even further gain respect as an all-time athlete is being able to evaluate talent in the draft there are only so many guaranteed hits in the draft that you
Know of and even casual fans know that will be legit in the NBA before they even step foot on the court but what made MJ being the GM basically so alluring to fans was the fact that who else but a really good basketball player to go out and find Talent at a sport
That he took over for years and the 2006 NBA draft was his first opportunity to rectify all his mistakes in the past with the Washington Wizards this time the Bobcats are not screwed in the lottery staying at the third spot and with Andrea barani and LaMarcus alers
Being picked at one and two there are still plenty of great talented people that the Bobcats can choose from but as we all know Michael Jordan had the final say on who was chosen and he truly showed that his GM skills are similar to a child playing 2K my NBA for the first
Time with the third pick in the 2006 NBA draft the Charlotte Bobcats select Adam Morrison from Gaga University you heard it right the cheers the excitement and the selection Adam Morrison from Gaga Michael Jordan’s first ever pick as a general manager is what he thought would be a shoe went to
Be productive as a in NBA player and to State the positives can you really blame him probably but let’s look at this from his point of view Adam Morrison was considered to be one of the best college players in the NCAA ranks and for good reason 28 points per game while shooting
40% from three and being a 6′ 10 big man with a handle is not something that you’d see in 2006 Adam Morrison was a basketball anomaly at the time and his production showed for it but if there’s one thing you can see in Jordan’s logic here is that he probably thought that
Adam could produce the same way he did in college in the NBA because why not well some people just cannot do that and you see it all the time in the modern NBA really great college players but can’t really stand a chance in the NBA
Now at the same time while he was a great shooter he was the best athlete has to find his place in the league as a Ford not a de rebounder even at the college level and wasn’t even known as a great defender but people hyped Adam as a Larry Bird
Having a similar and weird game to Larry Bird but as we all know there is only one Larry Bird with this selection MJ missed out on the likes of getting a new Dynamic guard and Main scorer of the team in Brandon Roy who himself was a great fouryear scorer at Washington it
Could fit the NBA mold Rudy Gay the long and athletic freak of nature and many other players who carved a great role in the association this is the start of Michael Jordan’s interesting tenure as the Bob catch G M and his first of many Feats of bad Talent evaluation but they
Also drafted athlete in college high jumper Ryan Holland in the second round to potentially be a new center for the future and uh for the people that know he also gave me a banger video back in the day but that was nearly two decades later anyways after the draft the
Bobcats had their thought to be new star in the making Adam Morrison and fans were excited to see what he can do and as he go to the summer league and light up the competition for 24 points a game in five games people thought he’d be the
Pro and rise to the occasion as the Bobcats could become a better team with him at the lead but those cracks for this game would show itself very early never mind that though the Bobcats are ready to start their third season ever and everyone is hyped to see how the
Trio of Morrison Gerald Wallace and now a healed a mecha okaf for could do in the 20067 NBA season it would be a season of more Improvement but also realization at the same time the Bob cats will actually start their Season 22 and 33 a very respectable record for
Their standards and showing growth as a unit and for reference the year before at that same point the Bobcats were 15 and 41 but again you could truly see the Bobcats were on their way up season by season but after an eight game losing streak after that start I spoke up
Earlier their playoff hopes died and they went back to the drawing board they need a leader they need someone who can really take the Reigns and lead them to games and be able to win them games offensively some of you may be asking though wasn’t that supposed to be Adam
Morrison’s job as the top NCAA scorer last year well his rookie season was highly disappointing from all aspects shooting 12 times a game making him the official third option he’d average 11.8 points a game on an abysmal 37% from the field and 32% from three the problems I
Spoke of became a reality and he was a big non-factor on this team but his chances of figuring out his rookie season was ample according to basketball reference he was moved all over the court to try to figure out his role in the NBA and on this team especially
Whether it was as a small forward a power forward a small ball Center and for some reason even log some minutes at shooting guard and statistically speaking he’d be one of the worst players on the team with a near worst box plus minus and own the worst win
Shares on the team but he start 23 out of 78 games that season and the Bobcats really tried to make it work but his rookie season was just not something you think he can capitalize on without major Improvement speaking of major improvement though Gerald Wallace once again takes initiatives offensively
Looking like a real two-way star leading the team and scoring once again with 18 points the game shooting above 50% and being one of the best defenders in the NBA with two steals a game and a block added alongside that and this time around even though he played 73 games
Still didn’t make an all defensive team only getting 11 votes for it and getting three first place votes for defensive player of the year and second in command and Mecha Oka for would bounce back in the third season playing 67 games and averaging 14 Points 11 rebounds and two
And a half blocks tonight so the duo at least stays consistent but someone has to take things to the next level to create something serious in Charlotte North Carolina and as you look down the roster the potential just isn’t there outside of the main two Raymond Felton second season would look eerily similar
To the First with bad scoring efficiency but at least being an above average playmaker and Shawn may once again falls to his earlier stated injuries the season before and from there everybody else is already a vet who had met their Peak in their third season the Bobcats
Earned a record of 33 and 49 the 12th seed in the East and are known as one of the worst offenses in the NBA but the positives are the same Gerald Wallace was top five in Steels per game and EMA okaf for was top five in blocks but that
Is not enough so Michael Jordan made changes for the first time in this video mixing up the coaching room bery Bier staffer announced that he would not return as the coach of the Bobcats on March 13th 2007 and the same for his position as the general manager making
The first open slot for the coaching position since the franchise started in some fet you can argue this was a good thing but I don’t believe this was a coaching issue the team needed some improvement before anything else with no clear offensive leader and not a lot of
Upside to speak of but Michael Jordan would have a few plans for the 2007 off season that would actually cause some excitement and Intrigue for the Charlotte Bobcats people forget how crazy the 2007 NBA draft lottery was we’ve seen many times where a team would jump from far back in
The lottery to receive the number one pick and it is no different with the Portland TR Blazers jumping from the seventh overall pick to the first overall pick but the Bobcats with their 1% chance were forced in no man’s land and stayed at the eighth spot now at the
Same time we know the 2007 class had a lot of other prizes not named Greg Odin and Kevin Durant to absolutely standout freshman in college but as College standouts start getting drafted one by one the options start to get Slimmer and Slimmer but Michael Jordan and newly
Appointed GM Rod Higgins in his first ever GM role by the way started to cook up something that would finally give the Bobcats something they’ve been desperately needing with the eighth pick in the 2007 NBA draft the Charlotte Bobcats select Brandon Wright from the University of North
Carolina 6’1 and rail thin but second Team all ACC here is another freshman who comes in to the NBA D and hey why not just’s bring all the Carolina people into Charlotte Michael Jordan is there of course you have Shawn may Raymond Felton and now Jay Brandon Wright the
Forward Brandon Wright another UNCC product this makes the third time Michael Jordan chose someone from his Alma moer and people thought this picked was formed from his bias once again at UNC he was your prototypical tall and athletic big and his upside was unknown as he didn’t do much outside of jumping
High and dunking but on the same night MJ and Rod Higgins would subvert expectations big time on draft night the Charlotte Bobcats would trade the rights to Brendan Knight to the Golden State Warriors for highflying star Jason Richardson this move came out of absolutely nowhere to a lot of people as
The Warriors just came off their We Believe run beating the MVP dirt nin’s Ballas Mavericks in a miraculous six games as a 42 and 4 te but GM Chris Mullen knew the upside as a team wasn’t there despite their grit but with Jason still having a few more years left in a
6year $69 million nice deal the GM Mullen knew that it was either time to fully invest this court that he already had or Let It Go and rebuild and considering that it turned into Stephen Curry a few years later yeah they made the right decision anyways Jason Richardson being in Charlotte gives the
Bobcats a much needed reliable score that can lead the offensive load at his best in the six season lead so far he averaged 23 points a game and played at an All-Star level in a couple of Seasons even though he never made an All-Star team so for the price of a player who
Would soon be a perennial journeyman and role player this is the best move MJ has made so far so after that amazing night even with no draft picks made you can imagine the optimism in the air it might not be the immediate change that people want but progress is being made every
Year and the front office is trying to make the most out of what they were given but as you can imagine as you look down the 2007 class there were a couple more All Stars at least in the modern day that could have been chosen by the Charlotte Bobcat and worked upon later
But you know what this is a great second option but considering what happened last year the coaching spot is still vacant and now we’re going on to our second coach in franchise history and uh I’m just going to say say this right now you’re going to have to level with me on
This one because this story is going to get a little bit funny when searching for a coach there are a lot of factors to consider and one of those major factors is experience just like in any job field but the second coach to ever work for the Bobcats would be former
Lottery Pick and Champion Sam Vincent at this point Sam has only had one credential one itsy bitsy credential in the NBA post playing career and that is as a one-year assistant for the Dallas matter but while researching this video why would Jordan ever sign a coach that
Has never well coached in the NBA well I found an article from 2007 that explained Jordan’s logic fully quote Vincent will be reunited with Bobcat’s part-time owner Michael Jordan who has the final say on all basketball decisions Jordan and Vincent played together for two seasons with the
Chicago Bulls in the late 1980s and for the people that um are kind of business savy you can definitely see that this is a red flag in the article it also says Vincent a former first round pick for the Boston Celtics in 1985 has limited coaching Experience One season as an
Assistant under Avery Johnson with the Mavericks but Jordan said earlier this year he was looking for a young coach in the mold of Johnson you know the same Avery Johnson that lost the finals to Dwayne Wade and then lost to an AC that next year and finally Vincent was one of
10 candidates to interview for the Charlotte job the list include former NBA coaches Paul silus Stan Van Gundy and Mike ftell NBA assistant Lono Holland and Herb Williams and former ba assistant Mario Ellie and New Mexico State coach Reggie Theus Michael Jordan had the chances to pick up somebody with
Credentials on that list I just told you but instead hired someone with very little experience NBA wise on a team looking to improve that is a very funny spot to put your next coach in but this is Michael Jordan as the GM we’re talking about anyways as the season
Starts the new starting lineup for your Charlotte Bobcats are Raymond Felton Jason Richardson Gerald Wallace EMA okaf for and primas rosek they starting lineups every year ends up sounding better and better but a name that is missing is Adam Morrison in fact he didn’t play that game or or the season
Actually well during a preseason game against the Lakers Adam Morrison would be hit with one of the worst injuries in sports that can really alter your entire career and that is a torn ACL we’ve seen plenty NBA players career be ended or heavily affected by this type of injury
And as expected he would miss the entire 2008 season due to it while the Bobcats win their first two games of the Season against the Bucks in the heat that would perhaps be the highlight of their season because at the end of it the Bobcats would find themselves in a very similar
Spot to last year losing one more game than the year before 32 and 50 but how the Bobcats went about solving their offensive issue that played them all this time but looking down the list Jason Richardson would be as advertised scoring 21 points per game while being a
40% three-point shooter and being 13th in the NBA in points per game Gerald W will stay the same in his secondary scoring role and would be fifth in steals per game Mecha okaf for was still the serious defensive threat he always was and even played 82 games this season
And Raymond Felton is becoming a really really good playmaker being top 10 in assist per game so again I ask you what is the deal well the team somehow ended up in the same position as last year even with a new and improved top score the team still struggled defensively and offensiv
At the same time so now the pressure is on there isn’t a lot of excuses you can go with because even with Jason Richardson on your team to be the main scorer if you can’t find ways to win games something has to give and that’s exactly what happened because on April
26 Sam Vincent received the role of the scapegoat and got fired only after one season as a fulltime head coach that has to be a record by the way but actually the reason he was fired is because of Michael Jordan seeing an opportunity to hire a new coach the coaching legend
Himself Larry Brown who wanton a championship with the Pistons a couple years earlier coach Alan Iverson has been around the league for decades according to an ESPN article quote but the firing came shortly after the Charlotte Observer reported that according to a source close to Brown the
Hall of Fame coach would be willing to discuss the job with the Bobcats should it become available and quote the decision to remove Sam as the head coach after just one season was difficult but was decision that had to be made because my first obligation is to do what is in
The best interest of our team Jordan said in a statement here is your harsh reminder that once again the NBA is a business at the end of the day both sides parted and Larry Brown would be hired only three days later but as they got done with another disappointing
Season can Larry Brown be what the Bobcats need an experienced head coach to actually turn this ship around with the new structure for the team now being established the incoming coach Larry Brown doesn’t have much to look forward to in the form of the Bobcats but what the Bobcats do have to
Look forward to is the 2008 NBA draft class one of the deeper draft classes since 2000 this time around though because the lottery is rigged the Chicago Bulls move all the way up from 9 to one so they can draft the hometown hero and Memphis Tiger and sat cheater
And doesn’t know what consent means dedick Rose for that price the Bobcats moved back to the ninth spot but as D Rose and others got picked one by one there were still some very great college players to choose from and they were all being able to help them at a position
That they desperately needed a new center prospects include all Pack 12 member Brook Lopez Georgetown product Roy Hibert the high flying javel McGee and the shot blocking sensation Serge Ibaka but as the time ticks down Michael Jordan would once again make another heads scratching move the Charlotte Bobcats select DJ Augustine from the
University of [Applause] Texas little bit of a shock here maybe Augustine a first team all americ and the Bob Koozie Award winner as the nation’s top point guard Brook Lopez you know he has some emotion there Jay bis just said that he’d be a great pick right there
Charlotte decides not to go big and St if they go small in fact real small DJ Augustine just 5’11 172 lbs but he scored 19 points per game and dished out almost six assists per game last season he’s the fifth you heard that right even the commentator of that clip was amazed
By the fact that the bobcat CHS DJ Augustine as Brook Lopez was the shoeing pick to go on and become a new Charlotte Bobcat I didn’t even mention it though but last year Center prismo brzek was traded only a month after the season for ner muhamd so the starting Center Spot
Would always be open and the obvious option would have been in this big man heavy draft again Brook Lopez but when MJ is at the helm you should expect the unexpected sophomore DJ Augustine was your prototypical 6 foot scoring heavy guard scoring an impressive 19 points per game in college had a killer
Three-point shot and was even recognized by the NCAA by winning the Bob Koozie award which is the award given to the best point guard in the nation but who cares about that because if you’ve been keeping up with this timeline the Bobcats already have Raymond Felton at
The one and Jason Richardson at the two so adding DJ is pretty redundant to what they already have starting unless one of them is one foot out of the door but uh more on that later if you want to know Jordan’s thoughts on his draft selection
By the way quote we felt like Augustine would be better at the point guard situation Jordan said we felt like bis is going to play very similar to how Raymond does we felt Augustine could involve a lot in our roster make Matt Carrol a lot better make Adam Morrison a
Lot better we were really close with Lopez but I feel Augustine was a little better for our team but the Bobcats have the opportunity to make up for this as MJ traded their 2010 first round pick for a super Sonic’s first round pick in this draft the day before for the draft
Maybe this time they’ll use it on the center which they do but it’s an interesting one Alexis aena the 7 foot2 Uber athletic center from France this pick just like the last was an absolute shocker with the amount of inexperience that then 20-year-old aena had according to Jordan quote his scoring ability he
Can play in this league Jordan instead of aena his defense is going to take a lot of adjusting his physical capability is going to take some adjustment I don’t think coach wants to throw him out there and put heavy minutes on him I think he
Wants to expose him to the game and see what he can provide I don’t think this is exactly what you would want to hear if your GM is talking about your draft pick if you are a fan of the Bobcats especially a first rounder again Jordan’s GM skills are comparable to a
Child playing 2K with this they missed out on sergy Baka Nia Pekovic DeAndre Jordan or even orir AI but no I guess we’re going for the most overused word in Sports potential with this ends another bad draft night for Jordan and friends but it’s not like they know that
Yet but another offseason passes with no moves and we’re into the Larry Brown era and his specialty defense throughout his entire career as a coach Larry Brown has been known to provide some of the best offensive teams and bring out some hidden latent Talent out of some of these players defensively from Allan
Iris and 76ers the championship Pistons Reggie Miller’s Pacers David Robinson Spurs and even David Thompson’s nuggets he has seen all types of different teams but the Bobcats would be his biggest challenge yet and his usual system of Defense first and offense later was a huge success the Bobcats in the 2009 NBA
Season were a top 10 defense in the NBA only allowing 94.5 points a night good for ninth in the NBA but man this was probably one of the most polarizing Seasons that I have covered so far and I will tell you why first off not even 15 games into the
Season the Bobcat would change up the roster yet again on December 10th 2008 Jason Richardson and Jared Dudley would be traded to the Phoenix Suns for three and D player Raja Bell Boris Di and Shan single ter the Jason Richardson experience only lasted for a season but
At least his cost wasn’t severe because let me remind you again they missed out on the pick right behind Brandon Wright and Joe Kim Noah who would have been a perfect fit for a Larry Brown system but again this move was unexpected and expected at the same time as someone
Like Jason isn’t exactly fit for the mold of a very demanding Larry Brown system especially defensively but this move was made so the Suns can get a new backourt partner for Steve Nash and these suns were offloading Mike Danton Pieces away for their new era by the way
Steve CER was GM at the time for the Phoenix Suns and he was looking to make the Suns a different team than what dantony created but this works perfectly since rajel and Boris fits perfectly in Brown system next on February 7 2009 Michael Jordan’s worst draft decision yet finally gets dealt away Adam
Morrison and Shannon Brown will be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vladimir Rd donovich in his sophomore year in the league Adam was once again not good in the slightest and with Larry Brown being a less lenient coach than the former coaches Adam was soon moved
To the bench as a bench warmer for his lack of defense and severe lack of offense at the NBA level we won’t forget about how how bad of a draft selection he was but that torn ACL basically Zapped whatever potential he could have have as a player who was already
Unorthodox in the NBA level so just like a few years ago Jared Wallace took over the scoring duties averaging 16 points a game and average a steal and a block per usual former MIP winner Boris di was a great piece added as I said before from
The trade putting up 155 and five being a near perfect Larry Brown system player Raymond Felton still hasn’t figured out how to score consistently at the NBA level but he served as the third leading scorer and finally EMA okaf for didn’t exactly live up to anything major as
Expected as the second overall pick of a draft class but averaging 13 points 10 rebounds in a block and a half per game is still good no matter who you are and actually too at the same time after that huge injury he got into sophomore season
He played 82 games and finally the draft picks of the 2008 class impressive enough TJ Augustine despite being the wrong pick took took the toage of Larry Brown and made himself a pretty good rookie scoring 12 points a game off the bench and contributed to be a knockdown
Three-point shooter and for uh Alexis aena yeah we don’t talk about him but while their defense was near top That season again the Bobcat season was very polarizing and was very Larry Brown influenced fourth to last in PAC fourth to last in offensive rating last in
Points per game and lost games by an average of 1.2 points per game it’s crazy to to think about how the Bobcats with a few more fortunate circumstances could have been a playoff team if the average game for them ended in a one point loss if you want to hear something
Even more funny they had eight games going to overtime two into double overtime and lost 22 games by five points or less really brutal season but I couldn’t imagine a team this bad at offense being a playoff team strictly off their defense and slow pace alone but it was an improvement from last
Season season but how do you really improve upon the next season well like I said earlier if they could find a way to turn that defense into WIS and be better in clutch situations this team could squeak out more wins and be a playoff team where they were only four games
Away from the eighth seed this season the first year of the Larry Brown hiring has shown some interesting returns as a defense first coach he can make a lot of things happen with this Bobcat’s team if can just get the right players around him so going into the
2009 off season it was up to Michael Jordan to put a squad around the legendary quach that will bring immediate returns to this team but first as always the Bobcats due to them being in the realm of mid received the 12th pick of the 2009 NBA draft of course in
Retrospective we know of this draft for being one of the best at the time and producing multiple Hall of Famers but if as all those players were drafted by the time the Bobcats got to their pick as usual like clockwork Jordan perceives to hit the NBA world with another potential
Miss the Charlotte Bobcats select Gerald Henderson from Duke University with the inconsistent logic of draft picks we witnessed so far we now get another heads scratching pick from Michael Jordan and the front office credit or credit is due Gerald had worked himself up as a prospect at Duke
Playing 3 years there but the upside according to scout was very minimal just being a decent scorer and then that was basically it there wasn’t much said online sources wise outside of the shooting guard spot being a hole that they needed to fill on the roster so
We’ll just go with a positional need with this being said they missed out on Drew holiday NCAA Champion Ty Lawson and Darren Collison but since he’s obviously the tallest out of the bunch and fits the shooting guard mode I guess you can consider this an okay draft selection
But only a few days later the front office was strike again in an interesting fashion on June 28th 2009 the Bobcats would trade their first ever pick in Mecca okaf for away to the New Orleans Hornets for Tyson Chandler a center for Center Swap and an interesting one at that with both of
Them being nearly the same player outside of Tyson being taller well the Hornets at the time were trying to get rid of Tyson for the longest time who is having health issues of his own primarily to his foot that kept him out of games but when he did play he was a
Force of Nature and a real threat defense ly and a top athlete at the center position while on the other side while mea was getting healthier his concerns was he was no match for top centers in the NBA a great shot blocker but as a post Defender at the NBA level
He had his weaknesses so according to GM Rod Higgins in this ESPN article quote we looked at this trade as an opportunity to improve our team Tyson brings that level of athleticism in a seven-footer that puts us in a position to compete night in and night out with
Other quality centers in the league so that ends the amecha okaf for era in Charlotte being traded for a risky commodity in Tyson Chandler to this day amea is the franchise leader in rebounds in total and in average so his legacy will live on for a long time but at the
End of the day the NBA is a business but at the start of this next season the Charlotte Bobcats came in with a new look to their roster and unfortunately a royal ass beating losing to the Boston Celtics 59 to 92 in this game alone the
To shoot a terrible 31% from the field went all of 10 from three and turned over the ball 18 times now however would this be a foreshadowing for things to come it definitely looked like that as they start the season 3 and S and are now coming off of a five game losing
Streak their remain weakness they can’t score worth anything and they get demolished for not being able to score so in a string of Genius GM Rod Higgins came through again and on November 16th 2009 a trade that would totally toally turn around the Bobcat season would happen the Warriors are done with
Stephen Jacks and they send him to Charlotte let’s talk implications welcome to all of you I’m Lauren shahadi kenberg our NBA columnist joining us now can Golden State s Jackson and AC law to the Bobcats for Raja Abell and Vladimir radmanovich was this a deal that happened
Quickly well quicker than a lot of people expected including in in the to start with the Warriors last week it looked like there really wasn’t anything out there of any value that they were going to be able to get because everybody in the league knew that they
Had to trade this guy um and in reality they didn’t get much back talent wise and with Kena asabuki probably after the year with that horrific knee injury he suffered the other night uh Raja Bell will be able to help them right away on the wing it was said that Jackson
Originally wanted to play for a contender he named Cleveland New York and Texas as a few will he be okay with Charlotte well apparently he’s okay with it I mean he was so miserable in Golden state that that he was just looking to get out of there um you know when I
Spoke with him last week he was he was intent on going to a winner and clearly that’s not what he’s what he’s going to but he is going to a team that’s one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA and he’ll help them they might uh be a team
That’s kind of on the cusp battling for the EC with the Golden State Warriors and total disarray dealing with injuries all over the board and he disgruntled step jacks they knew they’d had to get rid of him in his massive threeyear $27 million contract remember this contract was in9
By the way but the Bobcats took the chance on the extra two-way versatility he would bring and traded him to help fix this sinking ship offensively and while it took a bit the Bobcats would find themselves back at the driver’s seat and winning games while locking down teams and with Jackson now serving
As the true scorer of the team with Gerald Wallace by the hotway point they fixed their season up ever so slightly and became a 500 team with a 21 and 20 record and while that doesn’t scream Contender it was an achievement that the newly formed Bobcats have never seen in
Its franchise history and the cats were awarded for it with Gerald Wallace becoming a firsttime Allstar as a reserve and is the Bobcat’s first ever Allstar in franchise history but there is even more news surrounding the Bobcats on February 18th 2010 the Bobcats would AC law Ronald Murray and a
2014 unprotected first round pick we’ll get to that later for the Chicago Bulls Tyrus Thomas the Bobcats wanted him for his versatility as a Defender his athleticism and to add more dep for them off the bench while the Bulls get the pick with a lot of value in the future
Again we’ll talk about that pick later on in this video and finally as the Bobcats start to fail financially as a franchise Robert Johnson would sell the majority stake of the Bobcats to minority own owner Michael Jordan making him the first ever NBA player to ever be
A majority owner of an NBA franchise but the rest of the season for the Bobcats would be something they never see before ending the season after the All-Star break 18 and 13 for a total record of 44 and 38 the best they’ve ever earned and got them the seventh seed in the Eastern
Conference playoff bracket the Synergy of coach Larry Brown and the GM staff made for a perfect combination of giving the coach what he wanted and allowing him to cook up what he was advertised to do bringing a playoff bir to the Bobcats for the first time ever and it only took
Him two seasons and a lot of Trades but what made this Bobcats team so formidable well they owned the best defensive rating in the league at 102.8 had the best opponents points per game average at 93.8 points a night and were top 10 in blocks and steals per
Game the bad made sure to Tor you on defense and had just enough offense to squeak by the weaknesses stayed the same though having a bottom five scoring offense and only winning games by an average of two points but unlike last year they had the people to be able to
Win these games with their offense ever so slightly speaking of which Stephen Jackson averaged a career high in points per game and Charlotte with 21 a game and led the team which made the trade a great success as he became the closer offensively for them at the end of games
Jordan Wallace put similar numbers to last year and made all defensive first team for the first time in his career Raymond Felton has his most efficient year as a scorer Tyrus Thomas came in and average 10 points per game Off the Bench while providing top tier defense
And for the Tyson Chandler risk well he struggled with all of his injuries just like last year and only played 51 games so the Bobcats use nazer Mohamad as their starting center for most of the season but again the Bobcats finally did it they made the playoffs off their
Coaching of Larry Brown the defense of the team and some clutch moves from the GM office and as the seventh seed they avoid the Juggernaut Cavaliers who don’t MVP LeBron James by three games and instead play dpoy Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic who just made the finals
Last year yeah this isn’t a fun way to start this the Bobcats were obviously not a favor even considered a threat to the magic and for many reasons the main reason they were a top 10 team in both offense and defense that immediately means they outr the Bobcats if they
Simply lock them down and also this is many of the players first times on this team ever being in a playoff scenario so I guess I’ll go on and ask you do the Bobcats even stand a chance well in game one the Bobcats played from behind the
Entire game and lost by nine off of a jir Nelson’s 32-point master class and Dwight Howard blocking nine shots game two was more of the same losing by 15 and only scoring 77 points as a team getting again locked down and while going back to Charlotte for their first
Ever playoff game the Bobcats knew they had to win to keep this series alive and not go down 03 and at home they did defend home court but with three minutes left in the game the magic were trying to inch their way to Victory but as Stephen Jackson missed a three-pointer
With 24 seconds left down by three points the Bobcats played the free throw game and lost by four points and finally in game four the Bobcats were once again competing up into the fourth quarter where they went cold offensively and the magic outscored the Bobcats and lost by
Nine to complete the sweep of their first ever playoff appearance while this team was great defensively you at least need to be able to do something on the offensive end to keep up and considering the magic were great defensively themselves and great offensively they can do as much damage as the Bobcats
Could but after losing that game there was still some optimism that they could do it again and repeat the same success but in what possible way can they make this team better and not just be stagnant especially when you consider a lot of the these guys are already at their
Peak we rarely ever see something potentially turned so sour in such a short amount of time in an NBA team but leave it to the Charlotte Bobcat to somehow turn a playoff team and one that could be one for years into something so bad in one short season to start off our
Story of the 20101 Season we first see things in the summer after making the playoffs and of course getting Sweat by the Orlando Magic the Bobcats do not have their pick in the 2010 draft class which would have plac them at 16th in the draft and by the way the reason they
Don’t have that pick is because they moved up in the 2008 class you spoke of earlier which became Alexis ajena at the time that pick would have became Kentucky Eric bledo Texas’s Avery Bradley or even a few other standouts but instead they took a risk on trading
For a Jena and it didn’t work out as we know speaking of which on July 13th 2010 the Bob catch go on and move on from him after his short two seasons with the Bobcats also someone else is alongside that trade oh it’s Tyson Chandler they traded a Jena and Chandler for Eric
Danier former Bobcat Mike Carol welcome back at w Nara and cash considerations the reason for this trade cap space quote you have to consider that contract is probably one of the most valuable contracts in the league the flexibility is the beautiful part of having Eric steel maybe not so much for Eric himself
As a player but for the franchise itself end quote the GM Rod Higgins was trying to take advantage of the fact that Eric Daner 13 million was able to be wiped off of the books If released and opened much more opportunities for the Bobcats I just want to mention real fast that
Chandler was a huge reason the Mavericks would make it all the way to the finals and beat the heat in this soon to be season and of course as we know after the fact he soon be a DPI winner in New York but sure trade him to open up C
Space in the now anyways first interesting move of the season over and done with and after that we go about signing sha Livingston a quame brown and seeing Raymond felt in lead for the Knicks the Bobcats were ready for another season of potentially competing
For a playoff spot but after a 9 to 19 start the Bobcats came out with another huge move and the second major blow to the Charlotte Bobcats franchise on December 22nd 2010 the Bobcats and Larry Brown parted ways due to the team’s performance and being very much
Dissatisfied with how the team acted he finally had enough Coach Brown was known for outburst but him leaving the team in this fashion was something you rarely ever see happen in the NBA but his replacement would be former coach of the Hornets at the time Paul Silas who at
One point was able to lead the then Hornets to three straight playoff appearances but this downfall was only the beginning because after going 25 and 32 the Bobcats seemingly had enough it it was time to move on and start from scratch on February 24th 2011 onetime Allstar and all defensive member Gerald
Wallace will be traded to the Portland Trailblazers for Dante Cunningham Shawn Marx Joel pris Billa and an unprotected 2011 and 2014 first round pick as the season started to get worse and worse Michael Jordan and crw saw the riding on the wall that this team had no future to
Win games or even compete in the slightest and with no stars in your top player being at his Peak and the farthest you was able to get was a seven seed there is no way the Bobcats would ever go anywhere near a Larry obrien trophy so a team looking to win now that
Shery blazes were happy to take him and give up a lot in future draft capital and considering that Gerald would start to become a victim to the injury bug in his final days in Charlotte Rod Higgins and MJ made a smart move trading him away for all of that so what now the
Bobcats have made their Vision clear it is time to be a part of of another I guess rebuild because it wasn’t like they were all that successful in the first place so let’s consider this a back to the drawing board moment but by season’s end the Bobcats were back at
The basement of the NBA world with a near exact record for 2 years ago 34 and 48 the rise of the Charlotte Bobcat was very shortlived and while there wasn’t a lot to build off of there was a very fun team with a very old school style was
There anything to look forward to in the future though well the Bobcats were guaranteed a top 10 pick in this year’s draft the young players in Tyrus Thomas DJ Augustine and Gerald wenderson have a lot of time to develop and outside of that it’ll truly be up to the front
Office to give hope to this team that fell off so fast and one short calendar year going into the summer of 2011 the Bobcats had to change things up for the better and it all started from the people up top making the decisions on June 13th 20 Michael Jordan stepped down as the
President of basketball operations and gave his spot to Rod Higgins while the new GM became Rich Cho the former GM of the Portland troll Blazers ever since his hiring MJ has created one of the biggest Messes in the NBA drafted bust after bust after bus and despite them
Making the playoffs off of a few good decisions whether it was getting Larry Brown and trading for Tyson Chandler and Steven Jackson his legacy will be known as one of the worst Executives and GMS of all time and the Bobcats can finally move on and attempt to fix this mess at
Least hopefully though and they went to work immediately in the 2011 MBA draft and due to their record they got a top 10 pick at the ninth spot and after Kyrie Irving was drafted with the first pick the usual thought was that the rest of the lottery was pretty hit or missing
You really didn’t know what you going to get long term and every team started picking their poison on who they wanted to help build their team around or thought would at least be a good long-term investment at the nice spot the the Bobcats had their pick and with
Their first pick in this new no Michael Jordan era they picked the man who would lead their franchise for years to come with the ninth pick in the 2011 NBA draft the Charlotte Bobcats select kembell Walker from the University of Connecticut where everybody in the top eight were choosing young products from
Or even overseas the Bobcats s their sights on the national championship winner from Connecticut Kemba Walker we all know his story but his rise to this selection came from an amazing Junior season where he led a very underwhelming husky Squad that started off unranked
Made it as a top 10 team in the nation won the Big East tournament and then won the entire big dance against Butler he was doing this as one of the best scorers in the NCAA at 23 points per game and the Bobcats chose him to see if
He could do that exact same thing at the the NBA level of course we know who they missed out on but at the time this pick made sense as someone had to take the risk on the scoring Phenom and see what he can do not being much of a project
Player just someone who has to get used to NBA defenses and try to score at the NBA level because as we all know the NBA and college two completely different games but if it wasn’t for that run his chances of making the NBA or at least being drafted in the lottery would have
Been very slim to none and the bcats were hoping that play from his Infamous Junior season was not a flash in the pan the Bobcats however were not finished on the day of the draft they traded away products of the past stepen Jackson Sean Livingston and their 19th pick from
Portland a year ago that they got from the Gerald Wallace trade to the Milwaukee Bucks for Cory mgti and received back the seventh pick from the Sacramento Kings in a three team deal and in this case they traded for bismack bomo the 19-year-old center from the Congo not much known about bismack at
The time but at that time before he came to the NBA he played a singular season in the Spanish ACB League only playing 14 games and averaged six points five boards and two blocks a game and 17 minutes a play after drafting the older and experienced Kemba they now have a
Young and raw bismack meant to be their rim protector of the future and fun fact they paid half of a million dollars for him to be released from his contract in the Spanish ACB this is how much they wanted him to play immediately for the Bobcats the two players would serve as
The stepping stone for the Bobcat’s basketball team and dumping the old era of stagnation where they were headed into if they were to keep up what they were going into last year but with a very quiet off season talks around the association was that the Bobcats were in
For one of the worst seasons in the association with no leader to speak of scoring wise this team was headed for an interesting situation especially if they were trusting a rookie kber Walker to lead the team but with the NBA lockout happening we’ve have to wait until
December 26th of 2011 to even see the Bobcats play but as we all know this season would be one of the worst of all time for any NBA team ever but with a game one victory over the Milwaukee Bucks it may not seem to be the case at
Least originally but after a four game losing streak then a win against the Knicks then a six-game losing streak and again another win against the gold to State Warriors then a depressing 16 game losing streak at this point the NBA knew what they were dealing with one of the
Worst teams of all time this team was full of awful basketball from top to bottom and there was no saving it and as the rest of the season passed on they would only scrape together four more wins and earn the third worst single season losing streak of all time with 23
Games lost in a row which lasted from March 17 2012 to April 26 2012 I won’t drag this team through the mud as there are many of people who talked about this terrible team in a lot more detail but we have to at least talk about the
Highlights okay maybe the low lights of the team this team put up the least amount of points for game master team gave up the fourth most points per game as a team shot 29% from three as a team and shot 41% on the field as a team it
Had a margin of Victory of3 which as you can imagine is one of the worst of all time and it’s a real team effort here their leading scorer was Gerald Henderson who averaged 15 points per game and was one of the most efficient scorers on the team but as the list goes
Down it becomes absolutely unsightly Cory mgti only played half of the Season due to injury and put up 15 points per game himself but shooting 37% from the field rookie Kimber Walker averaged 12 a game and was one of the worst volume scorers in the league shooting 36% from
The field and DJ Augustine would follow suit as he’d average 10 and you guessed it 37% from the field all I can say is burn this team down all of it there is no Foundation to even speak of and I’m not sure anyone is going to a Bobcats
Game that season and was expecting a win from them and taking advantage of some pretty cheap tickets I’m sure maybe they even be there for the other team but as the season ends they lose 23 straight games in a row to end it Paul Silas will
Be fired a second time funny enough and due to the lottery absolutely hating the Bobcats even more they get stuck with the second pick of the draft and end up missing on top college player of the year Anthony Davis and now they have a really important decision to make that
Will end up defining their franchise for a long time they can’t screw up here but we all know they will as I mentioned in the last season the Bobcats earned and I mean it earned the worst record in the NBA and the worst win percentage of all time but the New
Orleans Hornets moved up from the fourth spot to the first spot and the Bobcats moved unfortunately back to the second spot of the draft and the 2012 draft class had a lot of standouts from all over but the main prize the Bobcats wanted was the 6’10 star from Kentucky
Anthony Davis and with him gone you can imagine that Bobcats fans all over were pissed all uh five of them I guess but there is always the second best to choose from whether it be three Lev score Phenom freshman Bradley Beal another guard and Damen Lillard Connecticut big man Andre Drummond or
UNC Product Harrison Barnes which if Michael Jordan was in charge of this operation he would definitely be the pick for this team but the draft boards had many different people going at twoo but most said it would be allamerican and paint monster Thomas Robinson from Kansas but the person who was picked was
Someone everybody knew was very very polarizing with the second pick in the 2012 NBA draft the Charlotte Bobcats select Michael kid Gilchrist of the University of Kentucky and Summerdale New Jersey Michael kid gilchris McDonald’s All-American Gatorade Player of the Year in his State Kentucky Wildcat and in
NCAA champion and now the second pick of the 2012 NBA draft with sky high expectations but was it warranted at Kentucky he was a beneficiary of having a big frame at the college level being listed at 6’7 230 lb and using the same strength that he used in high school to
Bully opponents now in college get easy points in the paint and be a formidable Defender and it showed as an all SEC Defensive team member but as I said plenty of times some players are made more for the college scene than for the NBA and that was most people’s opinion
On Michael kid Gilchrist mkg was thought to be a project player who needed to gain an offensive game and then he could be a two-way machine similar to a Ron arest which was his comparisons okay more like future comparisons at the moment now who knew what he was going to
Be I can name the many faults in this game but I will just leave it to this one main criticism that me as a basketball player just hate seeing on the court he plays like a football football player using his sheer size over everything else to overwhelm
Defenders and with no regard to any other aspect of the game of basketball but when you are genetically bigger than everybody uh who’s going to stop you even at Kentucky you got away with it but now in the NBA he can’t get away with it unless he improves and that is
The Bobcats risk making Michael kid Gilchrist into a proper NBA player and perhaps helping him gain a proper jump shot also so as the draft ends and all 60 players are chosen the Bobcats were satisfied with their selection and to clear out some space to allow mkg to
Play as much as possible two days before the draft Cory mget was traded for the Pistons for a unprotected 2014 first round pick and Ben Gordon a trade I talked about on my Pistons Deep dive that you should check out later Link in the description but to talk about it
From the other side MTI was a depreciating accet but Ben Gordon was a even worse ass set on the side of the Pistons so the Pistons were willing to add a pick and use meetti while the Bobcats were now dealing with a very disgruntled Ben Gordon but hey a free
First round pick is a free first round prick and he’ll be off the deal after 2 years unlike mgti who was on expiring going into this new season speaking of the new season the Bobcats now have their new coach Mike Dunlap a St John’s assistant coach a very weird hiring for
Sure especially when they had interviews from Quin Snider Jerry Sloan and NBA assistant Brian Shaw but at the end of the day Dunlap gets the job two his credit he was a former assistant for George Carl and the Denver Nuggets back in the day and was a national
Championship level coach at the D2 level but his new project here was going to be something more difficult than he could ever face and with some more veteran help signed in Brendan Haywood and Ramone sessions it is time to see if the Bobcats can now improve upon their last
Year blunder which is pretty hard to do if you can’t improve past seven games is a problem but it all starts the same the Bobcats won their first game of the season against the Pacers and at home too by one single point and it all falls
Down from there to their credit they did start the season 7 and five which isn’t a spectacular feat but considering the team I am covering here give them some slack they have a young team and a brand new head coach but after an 18 game losing streak following that it was back
To the basement they went the Bobcats were back but not in a good way however at the end of the tunnel there is light at the end of the day there are positives the first one being that Kemba Walker is finally learning how to be a point guard in the NBA boosting his
Averages the 17 points per game and was even fifth per game in steals per game with two starting center bismack biombo while not being a scoring threat in the slightest showed his promise as a shot blocker averaging 1.8 a game which put him top 10 in the league in that
Category and honestly that’s what the positives end for me because this team would end up being the second worst record in the NBA with a 21 and 61 record on the worst defense in the league and we a bottom three offense oh and by the way Dunlap got fired after
The season why the players did not like the coach straight up players reportedly didn’t like his heavy-handed coaching style usually mixing College coaching with NBA players doesn’t work out that well shout out John Bine if you know you know but lastly we have to talk about the infamous second pick of the draft
Michael kid Gilchrist his rookie season was what people expected from him he has a lot to figure out but for now he is playing to his strengths and putting up nine points five rebounds and almost averaging a block in a steal per game but uh it did earn him NBA second team
And he even won Rookie of the month in November crazy enough and if you look at his numbers during that month you can argue it showed a lot to be desired but overall it is up to the Bobcats to turn a football player into a basketball player over time and once again their
Cruel mistress called the draft lottery moved them back from the second spot to the fourth spot showing that even Lady Luck doesn’t like the Bobcats 10 this year the Bobcats quickly moved on from Dunlap and found themselves in a similar situation a few years years ago wanting
To hire a veteran coach to help make an awful team less awful this time around they hired Steve Clifford at the time a Lakers assistant to Mike Danton and a longtime NBA assistant in the league so while they risk the franchise to another unknown product this coach has a lot of
Experience in the league while not actually being the head coach and was ready to make something happen the next year so as the curtain closes down on another Bad season is there any way the bobcast can turn this ship around and make things better in the NBA draft
Coming up in a historically weak last uh I guess we’ll see with a new coach and a better feel of what this team can be the 2013 draft isn’t as important as the last mainly because this class is one of the worst of all time and even draft experts knew
This would be the case so instead of overanalyzing it let’s just right into it because no one knew who they wanted and there were no guarantees that was made to be the case mainly when Anthony Bennett was drafted first overall to the Cavaliers as Victor Oladipo the defensive minded Guard from Indiana and
Big East Player of the Year Winner auto porter goes third the Bobcats are in the same position as last year was supposed to have a better pick but got move back so let’s just make the most out of it with no real positional need it’s safe
To say that they went with the best player available in their mind and that player was well with the fourth pick in in the 2013 NBA draft the Charlotte Bobcats select Cody Zeller from Indiana University again I don’t have much to say about this draft in general but we
Have to at least talk about this selection to be fair to everybody else Cody Zeller at Indiana was just your normal productive Center at a major School in Indiana that showed out game by game but you’re going to have to hear me say this over and over again at the
Span of this video some people are just able to excel way more in college than they will ever be able to do in the NBA but they picked him up as a successful College product that can potentially do the same thing in the NBA or at least at
The bare minimum be a good role player for them in his time in the league because as you scroll down the rest of the draft outside of a few players there is only so much positivity to speak of but also to add on to the confusion of
This pick they already have bismack bomo starting at the center position last year so was his trust level from the front office falling just a lot of things to think about here but after the draft the Bobcats went to work in the free agency pool where they signed their
Best player in franchise history and as sad as this will sound he really was a big pickup for this team on July 10th 2013 the Charlotte Bobcats would officially sign 9-year NBA veteran Al Jefferson and this pickup would be a major move for them as an automatic big
Man scoring threat who can come in and score at will and will be a good paint presence defensively at only 29 years old he still had some good years left to give and with a three-year $40 million deal the Bobcats were committed to making something happen with them
However there was a slight criticism to the signing from others mainly being that the Bobcats were jumping the gun and trying to win games and not trying to go after a top pick or at least a young player to carry the franchise I wouldn’t call what they’re doing tanking
At least at the time they just outright suck and needed someone to be a leader for them in the future but with Jefferson on the team they have an automatic leader on offense who can actually win them games on his own oh and also during this time DJ Augustine
Was not picked up from his rookie deal as he become a perennial role player around the league for the rest of his time well in the league so another pick added to the list that never worked out your days are absolutely numbered Michael Jeffrey Jordan going into the
2014 NBA season though optimism for this team wasn’t all that high Al Jefferson immediately gives them more win to their total just being there and by the All-Star break the Bobcats were actually staying above water they owned a 27 and 30 record which by no means is good but
League’s better than what they did before and you guessed it Al Jefferson was hard carrying this team averaging a 20 points and 10 rebound double double and taking the second most shot attemps per game in his career being the star of the team and while being one of the most
Underrated bigs in this time in the league he showed that he can actually win games as a number one option however he did fall short of becoming an Allstar that year despite the great play but something else that helped them win games was the fact that once again the
Bobcats played amazing team defense having the fifth best offensive rating in the NBA and keeping opponents to only scoring 97 points tonight but they still were under 500 by the All-Star break and had 23 more games left to make any type of noise well after a three-game losing
Streak right after the All-Star break the Charlotte Bobcats absolutely turned the season around winning the last 16 of their 22 games which became some of the best basketball UDA able to see the Charlotte Bobcat play in years once again Al Jefferson will level up his play carrying this team hard averaging
23 points and 12 rebounds in that span this run gave him the seventh seed in the NBA with a 43 and 39 record which would be nearly identical to the record they had when they made their first ever playoff appearance and this team had a nearly identical story to them they
Brought in a new player to help them carry their offense a top five defense to help shut teams down and their team offense unfortunately being near the B and I mean near the bottom kampa in his third year would have a huge drop off averaging the same exact points as last
Year 17.7 but shot a terrible 39% from the field but at least for his efforts Al Jefferson was named to the all NBA third team in the 2014 NBA season and he deserved it for sure but this is one of the few times ever where a player didn’t
Make an All-Star team but made the all NBA team but like I mentioned before the Bobcats may have owned a top big man in the league but he can only do so much with this team in the Bobcats that were rushing a much needed rebuild but who cares in Steve Clifford’s First season
He made a bottom tier defensive team into a top defense in the league with minimum roster changes and the Bobcats are officially back in the playoffs and this was one of the weirdest starting lineups in the NBA Kell Walker Gerald Henderson Michael kid Gilchrist at small Ford Josh McRoberts remember that name
You you probably don’t remember that name at power forward and of course Big Al at Center looking around this team though the only only positive was Big Al because this team was still bad on paper as you’d imagine in this case though the only reason they are doing good is
Because they are being coached very well by Steve Clifford and again the offensive play of Al Jefferson Michael Kick G Chris didn’t improve one bit Kemba again slit from last season bism biombo got pushed to the end of the rotation and Cody Zeller did not have
The best rookie year and for their sin of overachieving their reward is going against the Miami Heats with LeBron James Dwayne Wade and Chris BOS who are fresh off of winning a championship last year and are going for their third championship in a row there is no way
The Bobcats are going to stop them with just Al Jefferson by himself but to their credit though kiml Walker did show up in his first ever playoffs appearance in his career leading the team and scoring and doing it well averaging 19 points per game and shooting 47% from
The field rising up from his terrible regular season but when LeBron James is averaging 30 points per game and no one on the team can guard him it’s safe to say this series was a watch game one saw the Bobcats lose by 11 and only scoring 88 points with LeBron and D way
Combining for 50 game two was a comeback from behind with the Bobcats were down by as much as 15 and were consistently down by 10 the entire game but did come back in the fourth quarter to lose by only four in that uphill battle in this game though Bobcats fans would see
Michael kid Gilchrist score 11 points in the second quarter alone and score 22 points overall which would be his season High all year game three would be a game where Charlotte would control the entire game up until the Midway second quarter point where they hits Blitz them and
Took a huge 21-point lead which they then lost by 13 at the end and the fourth and unfortunately final game the Bobcats would again be outmatched losing by 11 as LeBron would end the series in his usual fashion scoring 31 points with a score of 109 to 98 meaning the Bobcats
To this day at least in this video haven’t won a single playoff game to their name and have been swept for the second time in the row the expert’s fears from the preseason would be met once again the Bobcats tried doing too much and it ended up with them making no
Traction in the playoffs being a move only made to take him to mediocrity quicker with that series loss the Bobcats at least now know that they can make the playoffs again the next year but there needs to be a level up from somewhere to make this team into a
Consistent threat will come from Michael kid Gilchrist kber Walker maybe one of the big men they drafted will show out but who knows but a ghost from their pass in the form of Gerald Wallace and Cory mgti would come to bless them as part of those deals those trades came
With two first round picks in a 2014 NBA Draft and even with them dealing their own pick away in the bisb bio trade a few years ago the Bobcats were blessed with a top 10 pick due to the Cory MTI trade and the 24th pick from Portland
This could be a huge blessing in disguise if they pick the right young talent to add to this weird rebuild they got going on and with the 2014 class having a lot of upside according to experts it’s almost impossible to whiff here right it is time for a new age of the Bobcats
No Hornets basketball Michael Jordan put in a bid to change the Bobcat’s name back to the Hornets after the New Orleans Hornets turned into the New Orleans Pelicans so why not it’s a reunion to Old Times and potential good times if they ever get better so with
The bid being approved the Bobcats will now be the Hornets in this upcoming season with a brand new logo with a modern look but even with that great news confirmed there is still the 2014 NBA Draft where the Hornets have been blessed with the ninth and 24th pick and
For a playoff team that just means more Firepower and potential for the future if they keep making the playoffs and turning that young Talent into something but does that mean they have the opportunity to pick big with consensus top picks Andrew Wiggins Jabari Parker and Joel embiid all being picked up I
Mean there’s a lot of great players to choose f with that ninth pick and with a big need of scoring and efficient scoring at that players like NC State TJ Warren UCLA Zack LaVine and even a kraton legend and Doug mcder there are safe picks for them to go with that
Fixes their needs so Charlotte fans have to witness who the Hornets will pick to help this team right here and right now with the ninth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft the Charlotte Hornets select Noah vonle from Indiana University for the third year year in a
Row the Hornets have drafted a big man this time around it’s Noah Von leay from Indiana Von lay had NBA potential written all over him being a top high school product and having a decent season Indiana with his main job being that he can stretch the floor people had
Him listed as a stronger Chris Bosch which is really promising but the team’s needs in the now is scoring and he does not fit that immediately so we’re just going to have to see how he turns out oh and uh about that 24th pick yeah they
Traded it the pick was used on kemell Walker’s teammate shabaz Napier who led a very similar career at Yukon winning a national tournament in the senior year and then moving on to the NBA he was traded later that night to the Miami Heat on draft night for PJ Harriston the
26th pick of the draft shamash Christian who barely even did anything in the NBA and cash considerations some of us know the story behind this trade but for those who don’t LeBron James was very vocal about how much he liked shabaz Napier in college during his run to the
NCW title but with LeBron potentially leaving in free agency that summer the heat used that opportunity to trade for shabaz as a way to keep LeBron on the heat which then created this trade to get PJ unfortunately though Heat fans absolutely hated this move because LeBron James would leave anyways but PJ
At UNC in his sophomore year improved as a score and can be a great shooter at the NBA level for Charlotte and of course being at UNC you can imagine that uh Michael Jordan had a little bit of influence in that pick but while they were taking anage of teams in the draft
They got taken advantage of in the free agency period the main criticism of this team once again the Hornets are not building any type of foundation for the future to make this team absolutely as good as possible they just keep paying players to help them immediately and
That does nothing with all these draft picks that you keep coming in this time around signing Lance will make him Dan Stevenson away from Indiana paying him two years and $19 million sure it will help him in the now but will event 24-year-old Stevenson going to improve
Much more as a starter for the Hornets well I guess we’re just going to have to see but if you thought that was bad the first time how about a second time because they would also sign second overall pick of the 2005 NBA draft Marvin Williams to a 2-year $14 million
Deal himself adding more vets to this team is not what this team needs this roster has young players who need opportunities to shine and I guess management thought it was an opportunity to make some noise in the playoffs adding pieces who have been to the playoffs before themselves and have been
Pieces of that playoff team and what I said earlier would come true with a day one lineup of Campbell Walker Lance Stevenson Michael kid gilchris Marvin Williams and Big Al Jefferson this is a team that gets the eighth seed at best and now the young Talent is regulated to
Bench minutes if even that but the goal is to make the playoffs so this move can be excused if they just make the playoffs and at least compete somewhat I don’t know how they would compete but getting a bottom playoff seat is easier than ever in this time period in the
Eastern Conference as we all know so after a 4 and 15 start to the season just like the year before after their first playoff appearance it is back to the basement they go this time around this team had zero cohesion in the system that they did last year just did
Not work first red flag though Kimber Walker was now officially the main scorer on this team without being able to prove that he’s worthy of that responsibility and taking over what Al Jefferson did just like last year he’ average 72 points a game but on the same shooting percentages last year
38 piss poor and if Al Jefferson is not going to get the shots that he was able to get last year that made him an all NBA product I don’t see how they expect to win games at all speaking of which Al Jefferson will miss 17 games in that
Season I said before red flag number two Al Jefferson was not prioritized lack last year taking three less shots per game but what was even more alarming red flag number three Lance Stevenson and Marvin Williams were terrible in their roles being newly signed players is meant to help this team be better and
They were not doing that at all Lance was an early starter before being regulated to his natural position as a six-man averaging eight points a game on get this 37% from the field while Marvin Williams was mainly regulated to a stretch big roll and not being very good
At that role himself this team was a mess from top to bottom but not bad enough to tank because they still create a 33 and 49 record which was only the ninth worst in the league but if you want to continue about how this off season made their regular season worse
For the team Noah Von leay the ninth overall pick was regulated to the G league and only played 25 games that season and garbage time minutes most of the time which on one hand shows what he’s supposed to be made of in the G league but at the end of the day the
Best place to show off your skills is in an actual NBA setting PJ Harrison would go through the same fate and recently drafted members in Cody Zeller and bisb bio would be fighting for bench minutes and finally Michael kid gilchris would suffer a season ending shoulder injury
That would weaken the team even more ending his third season prematurely a lot of development time gets taken away for the services of NBA vets not helping the team do anything the fourth and final red flag due to this the Hornets still own a top 10 defense in the league
Sure but their offense was ranked 28th out of 30 and they’d only average 94 points a game the problem I spoke of at the draft was ignored and the Hornet struggled to do it once again and are there any positives to speak of during the season from hell as the Hornets make
The same mistake they did only a few years ago absolutely not the Hornets again absolutely fumbled this next season where they should have stayed at least at the same level but just like last year they got the ninth pick of the 2015 NBA draft and it’s safe to say this
Team never had a serious success story drafted by them outside of Bea okaf for and Gerald Wallace from the expansion draft but eventually the Hornets have to pick up the right guy and get something going in the right direction somehow someway as the Hornets go into the summer of
2015 they are fully invested in going in full send to try and win with this core and bringing in more talent to help around from all angles their positional need a new Wing why because why not on June 15th 2015 the Hornets would send Lance Stevenson to the Los Angeles
Clippers for Matt Barnes and Spencer hos Lance was a terrible signing for them and the Hornets wanted to part ways for him as fast as possible and the Clippers were happy to take him and soon wave him and take the hit from his contract but the Hornets would soon double down on
This as only nine days later they trade Gerald Henderson their pick for the 2009 NBA draft and Noah vanon leay their recent pick in 2014 to the Portland Trailblazers for Nicholas Batum the Frenchman so already they are done with Von Lane I guess using his potential as
A trade crutch giving him up and trading him for a decent role player and hence erson for the Swingman in Baton only problem the only reason this trade was made was because Nick baton was going to put the Blazers over the salary cap and
Use this move as a way to save money but with batum’s $12 million expiring coming up he is looking for a nice little payday after The Season’s done so already the Hornets have traded for a solid Do-it all Wing who is in its prime and barely gave up anything for him good
Move for the Hornets for sure even though it goes against what they already should be doing speaking of which the 2015 draft once again is filled with the brim with Talent all over but unfortunately they’re not bad enough to get those type of guys in Cary Town
Jillo oaf for or D’Angelo Russell but the ninth pick is not a bad spot to be in it would be safe to say at this point the Hornets are still needing more scoring to help their piss poor offense but with this team is getting older and
Older some youth can be much needed so who did they take at the ninth spot with the ninth pick in the 2015 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornets select Frank Kaminsky from the University of Wisconsin once again for the fourth time in a row the Hornets pick up another big
Man in the draft a spot they are very much loaded in already having Cody Zeller and Al Jefferson starting a very head-scratching pick from a lot of angles and I’m sure Hornets fans are just as confused as I am as they get Frank Kaminsky from Wisconsin Wisconsin
Oh my Lord I can’t pronounce that who was the NCAA Player of the Year taking over the college game as a three-level scoring Center who can put the ball on the ground stretch the floor and be a shot blocking threat and can even post up alongside that and with his amazing
Tournament run where it was cut short by Duke in the finals it was only boosting his stock more and more and according to reports the Celtics at the time was offering the 15th and 16th pick of the draft alongside the 2018 Brooklyn pick and and another first for that ninth
Pick just so they can draft Justice Winslow good thing they didn’t do that on both sides but hey it would have been nice for them have that but if this is true they retracted that proposal just to take Frank the tank but as I mentioned before this draft selection
Made no sense at the time and continues to make no sense even right now as I’m writing this video but the Hornets were still busy making moves to stop this rebuild phase Matt Barnes will be traded to the grizzly for Luke renh hour and soon he will be swapped to the Thunder
Another kampa Walker teammate Jeremy Lamb who I guess will be serving as the fix to the scoring issue that I’ve been mentioning for years and years on end but the Hornets will continue to double down more and more so quadruple down the Hornets are no longer in rebuild mode it
Is time to win a championship somehow and someway and once again July 9th 2015 Jeremy Lynn will be signed to the team and add more Firepower offensively coming off his lone season in LA and his interesting tenure in Houston but luckily it was only a 2year and $4
Million deal so the Hornets got here for real cheap and lastly signing UNC Legend Ty hansboro to a one-year deal the Hornets were serious about trying to make something happen with this Jerry rig team but NBA fans everywhere would just have to wait and see how this team
Would work out without owning a top player in the NBA or anything even mimicking that but again something weird would happen with this team and I mean really weird this team was winning games and cons consistently by Christmas 2015 this team was 16 and 13 and an actual
Formidable Squad in the NBA the reason they brought back their defensive identity headlined by coach Steve Clifford and most importantly on offense they were actually scoring points and with that it was with threes mainly in the 2016 season the Hornets shot the fourth most threes in the NBA and hit 10
A game while shooting it at a 36% clip think of this team today like the Boston Celtics this year shooting a huge amount of their shot shots in the three-point range and not taking too many shots inside of the arc where they ranked 28th in the league attempting two pointers
Per game you can argue this was a byproduct of the Golden State Warriors current dominance in the NBA but either way it was winning them basketball games at the All-Star break though they start to slip a little bit having a record of 27 and 26 but there were some changes
Made to the team Michael kid Gilchrist returned to the team healthy and played his first game since that labor room Terror in early February but on the 10th of February Seven games in he’d once again injur that same shoulder and tear his lab room a second time which ended
His season for the second year in a row and only 6 days after that in a move to make this team better in the aspect of the three and D strategy the Hornets would be in a three team deal with a trade PJ Harriston a 2018 second and a
2019 second for the services of Courtney Lee at this time Courtney was still a respected top three in the option in the league and with the Grizzlies grit and grind eror falling apart the Grizzlies were Open Seas when it came to trading their depth for draft capital and the
Hornets were happy to take him and just like two years ago this would create a huge post All-Star break run where they would end the season 21-8 and in the season with a record of 48 and 34 which gave them the six seed the highest standing they’ve had in this video but
What’s even funnier about this is the fact that from seeds 3 to six all of them ended with the same exact record so if they just could have won one more game that would have gave him the third seed and homecourt advantage in the first series in a very weak Eastern
Conference but again it all started from their additions of Nick Pon the second best scorer on the team Al Jefferson who got moved to a six-man role as he got older averaging 12 points off the bench and even Jeremy Lynn who averaged 12 points a game off the bench himself but
Most importantly the person who should receive the most credit should be Kimbell Walker who once again rose up to the occasion and average a career-high 20 points per game to lead the team and officially make the Charlotte Hornet his team also as expected rookie Frank Kaminsky didn’t do much and couldn’t do
Much in his first season in the league due to the people in front of him so we just have to wait on that development just like every other young player I’ve talked about on this team for the most part however while many have judged this team for the risky way of creating a
Roster and how it doesn’t have the most upside especially in the future the coaching of this team plus the veteran experience created a nearly 50- win team and a top 10 offense and defense Yes you heard that right the Hornets this year for the first time was a top 10 offense
And a top 10 defense which is usually a great indicator of a contender historically but as they go into the playoffs their matchup will be once again against the Miami Heats this time minus LeBron James and Chris Bosch but still have the older remnants of dwade
In a three seed versus six seed matchup and as expected the people consider these two teams very much evenly match with no clear advantage but as the Hornets would go into the playoffs for the third ever attempt the Hornets look to meet their maker once again losing
123 to 91 due to a Lu Dan 31-point master class and Hassan whites side putting up a 20po double double game two would see them losing in similar fashion by 12 points due to dwe scoring 28 points and the entire team not being able to miss in general if this Hornets
Team was going to win games they would need to step up on defense and quickly as they search for their first playoff win ever since becoming the Bobcats then we finally see it the first ever Hornets playoff win in over 10 years winning 96 to 80 keeping the heat down to a team
Field goal percentage of 34% and Jeremy link coming off big From the Bench leading the Hornet and scoring with 18 points to their first playoff win and the beginning of a potential comeback game four at home was the same struggle to score from both sides but the Hornets
Ended up winning the game 89 to 85 and game five in Miami they would serve as the true momentum shift as they won that game 90 to 88 off of a game-winning three from Courtney Lee the man they traded for at the deadline to do exactly that provide defense and shoot
Threes 32 seconds left Walker the stick back off the ring tra down by Lee just like the fourth quarter the other night Lee offers it up oh he hits Courtney Lee from long range charte up by two and with that game winner the Hornets are up 32 won three straight playoff games and
Only one game away from continuing this playoff run to go against the Toronto Raptors back in Charlotte for game six we’d see again to remember from Kimber Walker as he tried to end this series with a 37-point master class however we be met with d way turning back the clock
To his prime putting up his own Master Class scoring 23 points going two a two from three and stealing the ball twice and blocking three shots while Lu alang was nearly perfect from the field scoring 21 points of his own with this in a dager three and mid-range shot from
D way the heat was able to escape the Hornets and force a game seven at home but I won’t hold you I’m not even going to be dramatic about it the Hornets got absolutely destroyed in game seven where they had an opportunity to win at home
In game six losing in this final game 73 to 106 a 33o loss to end off the season and from all over no one can make a shot with the main Headliners of this problem being kemell Walker Going three of 16 in the game seven and Frank the Tank being
Moved to the starting lineup in this series going three of 15 while the Hornets loose here and start to sulk on their own failure the good news is that this team is legit they showed they can be a consistent threat in the NBA and with some improvements things can only
Get better the front office made the Right Moves to put this team in the position they are now and with a few more they can go even farther so as they celebrate this 48- win season the goal for next year should be to build upon this and hope someone on this roster
Improves next season too just like the last time the Hornets made the playoffs the next offseason would be a very important period for them to either bolster their roster even more or hope for some summer development from someone well the Hornets went to work once again to try and repeat
Similar success if not more with their 22nd pick of the 2006 NBA draft they drafted Malachi Richardson a freshman Phenom from Syracuse who helped lead the orange to the final four of the National Tournament but soon after would trade him for a veteran as they usually would do this time around getting Marco
Banelli from the Sacramento Kings to add more shooting to an already dangerous three-point shooting team but where their main headlines came in for Charlotte was the infamous 2016 free agency period where the salary cap got increased and absolutely everyone paid due to it I can make an hour long video
On the effectss of that summer alone and what it did for everybody involved but that isn’t the time for that right now instead if you want me to see that do that in your future leave a comment I’ll save it as a future idea but for the
Hornets they be victims like every other team first things first we have to say goodbye to Al Jefferson who would leave a free agency for the Indiana Pacers to end his career and be a backup center do the injury slightly do railing his place now the Hornets are without a backup
Center or at least a reliable one because now bismack is gone and he’s signed with Orlando the year before and all there’s left is Cody Zeller and incoming second-year player Frank Kaminsky with that they’d signed former Indiana Pacer and allar Roy Hibert to a one-year $2 million deal he’s been
Slipping lately in his career and his value has fa alongside that so he’ll be a solid big man for only $2 million next the expiring deals of Nick patum and Marvin Williams Marvin himself was easy enough to deal with not demanding much money even during this cap increase
Getting him for 4 years and $54 million 13 million a season is kind of high for an underwhelming stretch big but where things fell apart was retaining Nick patum who was guarding interest for the Dallas Mavericks the Washington Wizards the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York
Knicks but the Hornets knowing what they were dealing with the other teams having a lot more money to seal the deal well they had to seal the deal themselves on July 7th 2016 Nick patum accepted a 5year $124 million deal meaning the Swingman was making 20 $4 million a year an
Absolute disgusting overpay considering his middling production last year despite his defensive impact but everyone was doing it so I don’t bash the Hornets as a lot of teams deserve to be bashed for similar sins but again if you want something like that in the future say something in the comments
With signing St rone session and some guy named Christian Wood the Hornets are ready to repeat the same success as last year and go farther into the playoffs off the play of Kell Walker and uh I guess whoever else will show up I guess well the 2017 season started the same as
The 2016 season but the halfway points with a record of 20 and 21 and it was due to the Hornets going back to their old ways after another playoff appearance from Charlotte they once again don’t improve as a team and fall off and become inconsistent and even
Worse by the All-Star break they are 24 and 32 completing their usual Trend but there is one singular positive kampbell Walker once again excels as a guard after ing a career-high 22 points a game and shooting 39% from deep and on that route being an efficient scorer for the
First time in his career for that reason he actually earned a spot in the 2017 All-Star game as a reserve and it was welld deserved for sure and it means he becomes the second ever Allstar since they became the Bobcats and since Gerald Wallace became one years ago after that
Point though the Hornets were completely collaps as a team ending the season 12 and 14 for a total record of 36 and 46 a 12 game difference from last year and the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference so what happened well honestly this was probably a natural end of their strak
They had from last year due to them not having the Firepower they hired that made that team a threat last year Al Jefferson and Jeremy Lamb moved on to different teams and the only person that could even serve and even do anything similar to that bench reduction was
Jeremy Lamb and Marco bellelli who wasn’t as good as those two last year mkg recovered from his shorter injury and put up a well I’m not going to lie a all defensive team worthy season averaging a steel on the block of game but as usual his offense was just not
Out the par in any way as he started 81 of 81 games and to add along more salt to that wound in Frank kaminsky’s first season where he became a primary rotational piece he showed that the NBA was not a place where he could Thrive being a negative both offensively and
Defensively he may have put up a third best 11 points a game for the Hornets but as a 7f footer shooting 45% from two-point range and shooting 32% from three Kaminsky showed that he was the wrong pick for the Hornets two years ago as everybody was saying overall this
Team was the epitome of mid 14th in the NBA and offensive rating and 14th in the league and defensive rating and what’s even worse they went away from their system last year three-point shooting in defense opting more for Kima Walker to win them games as the primary guy but if
You want to add more disappointment to the season the Hornets were also first in turnovers per game as a team and also fou the most per game creating the third most free throws per game in the association for the other team as a franchise this isn’t where you want to
Be and where they are is in the middle of the pack not good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to tank for a prime time pick so what now you’re mid and you got to make the most of it what’s worse now they are stuck with a
Bad contract in Inon so the Hornets are now in a really bad position for the foreseeable future and there isn’t many ways to get out and as the season ends once again the Hornets have a lottery Pick and can find a way to somehow get themselves out of this horrible spot or
They potentially mess up once more you know that cuz that’s always an option if there is something I can never fault the Charlotte horn is of doing it’s taking advantage of a situation when it reveals itself we saw them doing similar things when it came to trading
Gerald Wallace to a desperate TR Blazers team trading saas Napier to another desperate team and taking Nick Paton from the TR Blazers this time around though starting off the off seon strong they trade Marco bellelli miles plumbley in a 2017 pick in this upcoming draft for Dwight Howard and their 2017 second
Round pick at the time Dwight Howard was on a wild decline in the public space as NBA player and it ended up with him going back to the city of Atlanta for a homecoming Reunion where he grew up but even after Atlanta couldn’t stand him for one season while he was there he
Would be traded to Charlotte where he is now and seeing how that trade look and this is all they got for a former DPI winner yeah you can say they wanted him in his threeyear sem million dollar deal gone so now he’s Charlotte’s problem but honestly he is definitely an upgrade to
Cody Zeller but the contract might not be worth it in the long run but once again the Hornets are back in the lottery win the 2017 NBA draft class with a real need of a shooting guard or a small forward just a new Wing in general is what the Hornets are looking
For mainly because if Michael kid gilis wasn’t going to work out that would be an easy way to play said person alongside Kima and move Nick Paton to the three but we know of this class today to have a lot of great players all angles and even before we knew what they
Would be this class overall gave them many Praises too bad they wouldn’t be able to get any of these automatic stars but all they needed to do was just get the pick Right One Singular time to set this franchise up for years and with workouts yes I was finally able to find
A list online to Donovan Mitchell from Louisville B out B from Kentucky Tony Bradley from UNC John Collins Wake Forest Kyle kman from Utah and Malik monk from Kentucky and many others we are now at draft day to see who they decide to pick up to make this team
Better at least hopefully with the 11th pick in the 2017 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornets select Malik monk from the University of Kentucky SEC Player of the Year all American second team member and Jerry West award recipient as a freshman at Kentucky Malik monk was an absolute
Demon in college and was already on the road of being in the NBA in the first place but his amazing season at Kentucky was just the chry on top averaging a nearly 20 point per game season shooting the ball at a 40% clip and most importantly showing his potential
Scoring 47 points against North Carolina the only criticism was was his lack of overall game all around and not being good at much else especially on the defensive end but obviously that can be learned in his career as we’ve seen many of times with people with similar
Archetypes this pick was loved by many as this can be the perfect backcourt partner and make a future dynamic duo alongside Kimo Walker and I ain’t mad at this pick myself as an alabamian and sec enjoyer I thought Mal would be pretty good for sure so it was all in
Charlotte’s hands to make something happen with with this dynamite offensive player and after a Qui off season where their main Freight agency pickup will be 2014 Rookie of the Year winner Michael Carter Williams the Hornets would go into the 2017 season and start off again looking mid as ever eight- n start again
It’s not like this team is good or bad just painfully painfully average on paper they look like they could be a lower playoff seated team but on the court you never knew what the product would be and there would be some achievements in history being made at
Least to make this a little bit more positive on February 4th 2018 Kell Walker become the alltime leader in three points made for the Hornet franchise breaking dell Curry’s 930 and only a week later Kell Walker will be named to his second ever All-Star appearance after Chris D
Porzingis toward his ACL earlier in the week so that at least adds a positive to the Hornet season however the Hornets themselves were 24 and 33 at the time and it was looking just like last year again painfully average in fact let’s just go on and get to the end of the
Season the Hornets ended it all with the same exact record as last year which just shows again no improvements were being made and this team was stuck in purgatory hell mid absolutely mid and there was a lot of stagnation from all around the roster and there were many things to take account here
Like clockwork the rookie in Malik monk was being underutilized and playing only 13 minutes a game and never got a good role in the rotation because when Jeremy Lamb MCW and Trevon Grandma all get more minutes than you and due to that get regulated to the G League yeah there’s
Going to be some issues according to Steve Clifford the man himself in a quote about his minutes he says with Malik monk then it became do we play him over Jeremy when lamb is playing so well for Malik to be an every night starter which he has the talent and potential to
Be he’s going to have to play both spots to be an every night starter you have to play at both ends of the floor unless you can score 26 points a night you have to be able to guard your position he is undersized so to say he’s going to be a
Shooting guard every night against every player is a stretch I do think he can play both spots but I don’t think it’s in his best interest to use him the way that I did Steve Clifford’s main problem with monk was the fact that he couldn’t play defense and he was going to play
Players who can play both offense and defense at least decently so Malik’s offensive heavy game will not be prioritized unless it was on the level of kembell Walker and when you add the fact that the coach wanted Donovan Mitchell to be drafted and not monk you
Can add that as F to the flame on the positive side though kembell Walker continues to ascend in his role as the primary scorer recording a career year scoring 22 points a game but outside of Dwight Howard being a reliable anchor on defense and doing his usual routine of
The paint and Jeremy Lamb being a nice off the- bench scoring option there was stagnation in the roster and no improvement at all Michael kid gilr at this point has been given up on and he continues to average the same numbers year after year Frank kaminsky’s only NBA level skill is three-point shooting
And from the aspect of Youth it was being drained due to more and more vets joining the team every year the Hornets while being middle of the road in this case 13th best in offense and 16th best in defense are now directionless alongside that not having any identity
In it shows so again the same old same old happen Steve Clifford would be relieved of his coaching duties and owner Michael Jordan Will relieve Rich chose GM’s position something has to give eventually and it’s either going to be becoming a playoff team year toe or tear it all down and speaking of
Stagnation they get the 11th pick once again so it’s going back to the drawing board for the good old Charlotte Hornets for another year of trying to figure it out with another coach gone and another GM fire the Hornets are without the two main components that can lead a team to
A championship but leave it to Michael Jordan uses connections from his time in the league to try to at least make something happen first he hired a GM known around the league and a veteran at making teams and that would be Mitch cjack for those who don’t know he was
The GM of the Los Angeles Lakers during the Kobe and Shaq era and made many moves that brought Kobe his other two rings post Shaquille O’Neal trading for Pal Gasol getting runer test keeping Kobe on the team in the first place when he wanted to go to Chicago on top of
Many other things he has experience to get things done but as I said for the other coaches and GM before him this will be his hardest challenge yet but the second thing they would need is a new coach and they went about finding someone immediately after firing Steve Clifford the interview included David
Fdale ma udoka Ator Masina and Portland Char Blazers David vanterpool but the person who won the job was James bgo a San Antonio assistant coach that has been around the league since 2010 according to this ESPN quote from an article the Hornets were sld on bgo strong credentials as one of Greg
Papovich is longtime assistant including his abilities and Player Development devising game plans of both offense and defense and building relationships with players but also something of note bgo had a plan to turn the Hornets into another San Antonio Spurs when it came to their culture the winning part might
Take a while but creating a culture similar to theirs will do wonders for the franchise at least with the right people on the team but anyways as we know at this time the 2018 draft is seriously looking to be one of the best drafts ever seen at the moment multiple
MVP candidates Allstars and many high tier role players and the Charlotte Hornets have a prime time pick to use in this draft of future Hall of Famers and all NBA Talent with the 11th pick in the 2018 draft though they’d have to see top prospects after top prospect being taken
Pick after pick but at the 11th spot they did do their homework to see who they draft in their workout period they look at Jerome Robinson for Boston College Robert William from Texas A&M maau Bridges from Villanova Lonnie Walker from Miami miles Bridges from Michigan State and mo bomba from Texas
So who will again be The Faded person that will be chosen to potten help the Charlotte Hornets with the 11th pick in the 2018 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornets select Shay gilis Alexander from Hamilton Canada and the University of Kentucky oh wait U I actually been told
That this pick has been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers okay never mind here is their real pick with the 12th pick in the 2018 NBA draft the LA Clippers select miles Bridges from Michigan State University just like the shabaz Napier trade a few years ago the Los Angeles
Clippers found themselves really W to Kentucky guard Shay gillus Alexander with the 14th and 15th pick respectively they couldn’t guarantee themselves to get them and in the same way the heat were willing to give up something for him the Clippers did the same giving them miles Bridges the pick they
Actually wanted and two second round picks in the future another trade W for the Hornets even if it is a slight w but for their pick in Miles Bridges he would find himself in a very fortunate situation at Michigan State as a day one starter his freshman year and returning
For his second year where he would put up similar numbers but when the NBA is calling your name you answer it when I was watching this live and saw his highlights in the draft when I was younger I remember thinking that he was exactly what they wanted Michael Carter
Williams to be an athletic freak of nature built like an NFL player who can put the ball on the floor and shoot a three-point shot which he was very willing to do and at 6′ 7 230 lbs he would be the exact height and weight as Michael kid Gilchrist coming out of
College so it might be safe to say that mkg’s experiment timeline is coming to an end for someone who will be more of an automatic hit and someone who has more upside in the beginning than someone that they would have to teach from scratch but another gutsy move the
Hornets made was trading their second round pick in 2019 and 2020 to the Atlanta Hawks on draft night to receive the rights to Kansas guard Devonte Graham as you can imagine being on the shorter side as a guard in senior in college it was pretty hard for him to
Get drafted in the first place and create a role for himself in the NBA but the Hornet saw something in him enough to trade for him and to give up pick Capital to do so honestly all things considering a really good draft for them they got a tweeter Ford who is a top
Athlete in a willing three-point shooter with a lot of potential and a dynamic point guard who is a good playmaker and shoots the three ball really efficiently but even after the draft the phone lines of the Hornet stayed busy as they were making deals first Dwight Harold will be
Traded to the Brooklyn Nets for Hamad Dio who will be traded the same day Tim mozgov and a 2001 second round pick to keep it simple Dwight was on an expiring and obviously didn’t want to lose him for nothing while mozgov has been being passed around like a girl at a college
Party because of his horrible contract in 2016 and lack of production alongside that so both teams were doing each other a favor but only two days later MZ goby passed around once again to a new team the Orlando Magic in a three team deal where they dealt mzc off to the magic
For bismack biombo Welcome Back by the way and two future second round picks bismack himself had a horrible contract signed in 2016 but I guess they’d rather deal with bismack and use him sparingly than mozgov and hey two free second round picks is two free second round
Picks where they lost me is in the free agency period because their main signing of the summer was four time NBA champion one time Finals MVP and four time all NBA player Tony Parker AKA I cheated on my own wife with my teammate’s wife but anyways by this point Parker was 35 and
Wasn’t willing to take a cheap deer from the Spurs anymore so in one final attempt to make some bread signs with the Hornets and reminder the coach now was a former Spurs assistant so I’m sure that sweetened the deal for him but on a lowly twoyear $10 million deal I can’t
Hate on it too much but what I do hate is that this means for incoming rookie Devonte Graham’s second year play of Malik monk another veteran is coming in who will be playing over them and taking away valuable minutes but at his age it
Would be best for him to be a mentor on the team rather than a player bad signing aside the 2019 season is here and NBA experts all around have them predicted to be mid again in at best a 500 team if even that it is up to James
Bgo to make the most out of this roster and perhaps surprise us like Steve Clifford and Larry Brown did themselves earlier in this video and by new year end I hate to make this sound so positive they were a 500 team at 18 and 18 but don’t get your hopes up because
It was due by a otherworldly start of the season from season NBA Allstar Kell Walker who was a man on the mission and with the keys of the offense belonging solely to him it was going to be up to him to win games as he would ball out on
A nightly basis Kell Walker would go out and put up his best season the date averaging at this point 26 points per game and six assists alongside that but what was even crazier was the performances he put up this year 41 points in the first game of the season
Against Milwaukee which they lost due to Giannis and free throws at the end of the game and Kell Walker missing a game-winning shot a career high 6 points against the 76ers which was sent to overtime because of clutch Kell Walker free throws but they still lost in three
And overtime because of a game-winning shots from Jimmy Butler then two nights later he scored 43 beating the Boston Celtics and to end off the year of 2018 on December 31st he scored 47 against the Washington Wizards and unfortunately a loss if you can’t tell the fate of
This team was entirely in the hands of the six-foot Guard from Yukon kemell Walker because outside of his 25 points per game the second option was Jeremy Lamb who only scored 15 which would be enough to earn him a spot in the 2019 All-Star game as a starter the first
Time in this timeline anyone in this franchise has done that but his team at this point was unfortunately 27- 30 because there’s only so much you can do folks I don’t really know what to tell you but even with being a starter in the All-Star game while it’s in your city
The same problems persisted for this team and negatives would come with it and what’s worse the only way you’re winning is if does well however with more pridee kber Walker master classes after the All-Star break scoring 40 and a loss to Houston 47 against Utah and 43
Against the Orlando Magic in the final game of the season well you guessed it uh they also lost at the same time reality had to set in the Hornets were not a good team but a oneman show led by the man himself Kell Walker ending the
Season with a 39 and 43 record and more depressingly only two games out of the playoffs being the ninth seed being beaten in the race by the Detroit Pistons who are only 41 and 41 a 500 team and the crazy thing is they swept the Pistons 40 in their meetings that
Year they just failed to win enough games no actually Kemba failed to win enough games I’m not even saying that he’s responsible for all this because this team just couldn’t help out but even being able to win this many games with the season that he’s had and how
Bad this team was is still mightily impressive and for this Kell Walker will be named to the all NBA 13 for his first time in his career and it may have been an exciting season for Hornets fans everywhere as I remember but at the end
Of the day if no one can help this Allstar level player at best you’re getting a first round exit but as usual the Hornets did all this for no reason and with no end product in James bargo’s first season at least to his credit he played rookie miles Bridges a prominent
Role Off the Bench and would see his potential as a scorer in the NBA with time but just like Steve Clifford James burgo did not play Malik Monk and had him off the bench in spot minutes and just as predicted by fans everywhere Michael kid gilr become an afterthought
In the rotation as soon as miles was drafted getting less minutes than the rookie and losing his starting spot to Jeremy Lamb who would become a full-time starter and as predicted the Hornets were mid once again 12th in offense and 19th in defense and just like last year
Second in turnovers and third and fouls committed a new age of hit basketball in eventually needs to come because I’m just going to keep saying it they’re going to be in the middle of the pack with an Allstar kber Walker with no help and with veterans taking minutes with
Young guys with them not being a contender is there any real reason for this team to be valid in the way that they’re doing things at least they can say they got the 12th pick instead of the 11th pick like they have been getting the last two seasons so uh
That’s got to count for a tiny Victory joking aside are they ever going to change because as we all know as Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results if you’re a charlot Hornets fan you really
Hope they’re making a change in some type of aspect in another unfortunate draft Circumstance the 2019 NBA draft class was considered very underwhelming from the perspective of Scouts and experts in the NBA space obviously the main prize was Duke Zion Williamson but just like the New York Knicks that day it was not
Like the Hornets will be taking them the Hornets are just going to to keep adding young talent that will be drowned out most likely so let’s just see what main players receive a workout to potentially be a Charlotte Hornet this list includes Brandon Clark from Gonzaga Nick Claxton
From Georgia nille Alexander Walker for Virginia Tech Nazar little from UNCC PJ Washington from Kentucky Kobe white from UNCC and cam reddish from duke and yes just for the people that want to know Taco Fall even got a work out alongside them but when it came to the needs I
Can’t say there is a clear-cut need on this team so whoever they pick is someone they really want to see work out on this team with the 12th pick in the 2019 NBA draft The charlot Hornet select PJ Washington Jr from the University of Kentucky PJ Washington a stretch big and
A good one at that in his two years at Kentucky he could have easily been a 2018 class member himself but seeing how mid the 2019 class ended up becoming he made the right choice waiting the extra year showing some more of his skill sets and then coming to this class his only
Main hit to his game was his short frame at the power for position being 6’7 and not being much of a perimeter Defender which as we know in this current Day game of the NBA isn’t the best detriment to have unless you’re planning to be a
Small ball five but the pickup of PJ Washington wasn’t even the headline for the summer for them it was actually what would happen in free agency for the Hornets the day has finally come for Kell Walker he is now a free agent and wants to return to the Hornets but he
Wants his money alongside that but Michael Jordan was very reluctant to give Kell Walker a max deal that would have been a 5year and $221 million contract this became national news and a two-sided debate one-sided people knew he deserved the money if he stayed and the other side
Knew this was a tactic to get him to leave so they can finally tank but he if he were to take a cheaper deal then at least they would have saved some money in the end though Kimber Walker would accept a 4year 140 million doll deal a
Max contract however in a sign and trade deal with the Boston Celtics where the Hornets would simply get Terry Rosier the hero of their last Conference Finals postseason run in Boston and a 2020 second round pick in some people’s eyes this was Pennies on the dollar for an
Allstar and all NBA level player but it was quite the opposite Mitch cjack was able to deal with with Kemba who would have left for nothing and get back a player in Terry Rosier who had similar potential and showed it by replacing Kyrie Irving in that playoff run last
Year who was injured so at least both parties get what they want in the end but yes this does mean the end of The kembell Walker era in Charlotte where he played his first a seasons in the NBA and became a household name now he can
Help a team better than his own team and Charlotte attempt a playoff run with the best score he has ever had in his career but we’re focusing on the Hornets here for them though uh they finally get the tank in peace something they’ve never been able to do due to their front
Office’s attempt to make something out of nothing so it’s safe to say there is a new era coming to Charlotte but who will lead it well the 2020 class is looking pretty good but we’ll talk about them later for now though we have a very quiet off season and a very quiet start
To the season and the Hornets were very deliberate about their plans of tanking with a day one lineup of Terry Rosier Dwayne bacon miles Bridges PJ J Washington and Cody Zeller they are doing something we’ve been waiting for them to do for years develop young talent and simply letting them cook but
What I wasn’t expecting is for the vents in Marvin Williams and Nick Pon to be out of the rotation in general the Hornets were going full rebuild mode and it was a youth movement for sure obviously there weren’t many good things happening from it from the aspect of
Winning but at least Hornets fans can see who the new leaders of the team will be in the future as you can imagine though it came with a lot of losing and when you include the NBA bub in the closure of their season a weird season just turns even weirder but let’s at
Least talk about what they found out about their team from the weirdest season in NBA history to end their year they went 23 and 42 and owned the worst offense in the NBA and a bottom 10 defense let’s not focus on the outcome how about the players in general first
Off their acquisition Terry Rosier in his first season of being a primary scorer on a team showed out averaging 18 points per game while shooting the ball at a near 40o clip Terry at only 25 years old has plenty of time to become better and in hindsight the trade to get
Him from the Celtics isn’t all that bad and could be a better version of him with time in kemell Walker however he wasn’t even the main scorer no it was actually 2018 second round pick the guy that they traded for Devonte Graham however in his experience he went back
To his college waves at Kansas scoring 18 points per game and did seven assists but outside of shooting 37% from three he was a bottom tier finisher inside the arc only converting on 39% of his two-point shots again another good find and a move from the Hornets but he’d
Served better as a six-man in the future for sure next we have PJ Washington who started off his rookie season with a bang scoring 27 points in his debut and averaging 12 points on the season at a near 40% clip from the three-point line he was a very quality fine and a very
Lackluster rookie class that gave him all NBA rookie second team honors the youth movement is here once again and to show how serious they were about the next generation of Charlotte horners Ballers on February 8th 2020 the Hornets would wave Marvin Williams to let him find another role in the NBA and they
Would also wave Michael kid Gilchrist after eight seasons with the Hornets and no improvement to speak of the Hornets finally had enough and decided to let Michael kid gilchris go a lot of people even myself were surprised for sure but like I said last year he was not a
Priority anymore and after drafting PJ Washington and seeing the progress of Miles bridges in the sophomore season Michael gilchris and only 26 would be wav this team has potential all around and it was good that they finally decided to pull the plug and create a new team after so many years of being
Stuck in the middle and after a long off season we finally see it lady look is finally blessing the Charlotte Hornets in the draft lottery with the eighth worst record in the NBA the Hornets in a perfect world would have the eighth pick but due to the lottery odds and finally
Getting a break they jump from eighth to the Third pick in the entire draft the best draft selection they’ve had since 2012 when they drafted Michael kid Gilchrist and in another class that is considered topheavy they have a prime time pick to choose one of the best prospects in the class hopefully this
Time around they don’t mess it up but this pick can seriously set up the Hornets for years to come the 2020 NBA draft it has been eight years since they even had a pick this high but last time it was used it was on a perennial bust however now they
Have the opportunity to make up for that with a Clear Choice out of three players however they get the lesser of the three since they are at the third pick at least it was the thought though this top three was Anthony Edwards from Georgia James wisman from Memphis and lamelo
Ball from I I guess Australia all three of these guys could be plugged in immediately and could do big things with each of their teams having skills that could translate to the next level and having potential that is Sky High but as Anthony Edwards and James wisman went 1
And two it was obvious who was going to go to the Charlotte Hornets with the third pick in the 2020 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornets Select lamelo ball from Chino Hills California lamelo ball I don’t even know how to talk about him because of his wild upbringing and even wild a couple
Of years to this point from top player in his high school class playing in Lithuania playing back in high school for Academy and then graduating to be denied playing college so he played in Australia for a year just to become draft eligible as a point guard he was
One of the best point guard Prospect some people have seen with a real knack for playmaking and shot creation then when you add on the fact that he’s 6’6 he’s a living mismatch for his position so with that lamelo is given the keys to the franchise as the clear-cut future of
Hornets basketball and everyone is excited to see how this internet sensation would do in the NBA but as I mentioned a few seasons ago the Hornets are a very willing team in the aspect of taking advantage of situations around the League this time around we be seeing
Them hitting up the line of the Boston Celtics for another trade in an attempt to clear up cap space to make room for others on November 29th 2020 the Charlotte Hornets would trade for Gordon Hayward and receive a 2023 and 2024 second round pick and all they had to
Give up for this one time Allstar was a singular second round pick in this sig trade deal as you remember a few seasons ago Gordon Haywood would suffer a horrific injury on live TV to his leg that would end his season as soon as it started 5 minutes into the season after
That he would see his role diminish especially as Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown would get better as players but what was weird about this trade was the fact that Gordon was a free agent and went to the Hornets on the Sonage trade deal three years removed from that
Injury and this contract would be for 4 years and $200 million I’m guessing the one has found it easier to sign him and bet on him getting back into All-Star form and instantly giving mamelo a good teammate than to keep tanking but this signing had a lot of critics myself
Including putting themselves back in the same position as they were with Kemba potentially the honet can’t go one year without making a decision that will potentially ruin their future can they but they did offset an aad by waving Nicholas patum on the same day again at
Least this allows him to go about his career his own way as he’s now in his late 30s but he’s also describing that experience as the reason he almost retired from the NBA and I do kind of feel him on that but now it is time for
The 2021 NBA season and it already starts off with an interesting headline lamelo Ball third overall pick of the recent draft is not a starter instead being a six-man to Terry Rosier and Devonte Graham sounds like a very spur thing to do there from James morgo but
Everyone was waiting for lamelo to be released into the NBA wild and even Off the Bench he would show what he’s able to do if he was a full-time starter in only his 10th game of his NBA career he recorded a 22-point 12 rebound and 11 assist triple double that would be
Immortalized nimba history for being the youngest player to ever record one and again this was off the bench in 31 minutes of play you know it did take some time though but after 21 more games off the bench he’d finally get to be able to be a full-time starter due to an
Injury to Terry Rosier and never look back as a he averaged 18 points and six assists per game and off the bat he’s already one of the best players on the team easily translating his game into a productive manner with the Charlotte Hornets and when he gets better the NBA
Will be in trouble but this season would be very interesting all around Terry Roser become a 20 point perame scorer Charlotte would probably come to regret the Gordon Hayward signing as he only played 44 games in his first season and with lamelo on the team the team went
From a bottom 10 team when it came to aist per game to a top five team so immediately the lamelo ball effect is felt and with that would win Rookie of the Year in a near unanimous race with number one overall pick Anthony Edwards the future was bright and Charlotte and
Everyone can see it with lamelo ball at the helm controlling the ball and his band of Misfits alongside him but while it came with a 33 and 39 season in the short in 2021 NBA season due to the NBA bubble the NBA would implement the playing tournament to give the ninth and
10 seeds a chance to make the NBA playoffs and guess what the horn with a 10 seed and got a chance to make history however against the Indiana Pacers they get absolutely obliterated 117 to 1144 in regulation so I won’t even waste my time talking about it just know the
Hornets don’t play defense and gave up the most threes in the NBA that year which translated into this game so as the season ends what do we learn about this team in this season first off lamelo ball is legit and he is the future he may have had some rough
Patches in his rookie season but what rookie doesn’t once he gets his shot going consistently he gets more touches as the star of the team he’ll maybe be able to Le Charlotte somewhere in the near future we also see that this team is on the rise with Gordon and ball
Adding 10 more wins to their team than last year so we can potentially see this team the playoffs super early in this new era some say that is a good thing and some say it’s bad but with the 11th pick in the next year’s draft this can potentially add another piece to a
Surging team with a future top point guard candidate and a roster who is hungry to make some noise in the NBA back to one of the most important events in the summer for the Hornets every year the NBA draft again with the 11th pick in the draft they’re in a valuable spot
To pick up a potential Game Changer but you know they’ve been pretty bad at picking those said players over the years but all they need is just one good hit last year they were automatic bow Ball but there is no positional need this time around having solid players
From all spots outside of the center position where they have a lot of veterans so a younger option there to to develop could be nice but let’s just see who they choose in the 2021 NBA draft class with the 11th pick in the 2021 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornets select James
Book knight from the University of [Applause] Connecticut the Hornets must love their Connecticut players don’t they because again they choose a another Yukon guard in James book Knight coming off his sophomore year in the shorten 2021 season where he only played 16 games however he did show himself to be one of
The best young scorers and shot creators in the NCAA and Big East averaging 18 points per game his main issue though was the fact that his shot wasn’t the most consistent but when it came to shot creation skills and finding his spot he was second to none in that class so once
He starts seeing the ball go in it is wraps for the defense but this selection does raise some questions and will answer those soon some of you who are watching or listening can imagine what that question was just like the many watching the draft that day but after
The draft day trade of getting Texas big man Kai Jones by trading a lottery protected first New York the Hornets came out pretty happy with their night but what would happen later would finally answer that question I asked earlier the tenure of 2017 firstr draft pick selection Malik monk in Charlotte
Has forever been a frustrating one dealing with two coaches who wouldn’t play him due to his defensive deficiencies and not giving him any type of role on the team in the last 2 years he finally seees minutes finally eclipse the 20s but after getting suspended by the NBA due to breaking their drug
Policy that involved some uh booger sugar and his tiny addiction to it the Hornet would then not extend a qualifying offer to the then 22-year-old Malik Monk and let him hit unrestricted free agency so now book Knight would be the replacement of what could have been
The Malik monk era out of all the pcks they’ve had monk was one of the few that I knew had a great chance of working out the NBA but due to coaching he was kept down for four straight years and I’m sure the feeling was Mutual on both ends
Of wanting to end this relationship but this free agency period for the Hornets didn’t end there they were busy trying to rush towards mediocrity once again Devonte Graham who would be a nice f for them the 2018 class has been signed back on a 4year $47 million deal however he’d
Also be included in a sign and trade deal with the New Orleans Pelicans in a three team deal with a Hornets received back Wesley a Windu and a 2022 first round pick from the Pelicans obviously the prize possession of this was the first round pick and Mitch cupak was
Already making the most out of the value of the players that he had he’d want again do the same thing taking advantage of a salary dump trading their second round pick in the 2021 draft for Mason plumbley and the draft wres to JT Thor Mason plumbley had a pretty eye-opening
Season with the Pistons where you see his all-around game getting career highs in rebounds assists and points and he even get two triple doubles in Detroit last year that just made him much more viable as a center who can pass the ball the Hornets wanted him to do the same
For them and with a few more signings in journeyman is Smith and Kelly UB Jr Mitch cjack actually made a pretty allright team in only one summer period so now this season begins you have a rising star in lamelo ball a rising shooting guard in Terry rir a steady
Small forward in Gordon Hayward the ultimate lob threat in Miles Bridges and one of the most underrated centers in the league right now in Mason plumbley the Charlotte Hornets were going to be a fun team this year and everyone was excited to see what they do but I think
This Hornets team far exceeded expectations with a 13-8 start the Hornets one of the hottest teams in the league and it all started with their top tier offense that ranked fifth in points per game and top 10 in offensive rating and again it starts with two people
Lamelo ball will become the primary ball handler of the team and take over the system the way we all expected averaging 20 points per game and seven assists a game at the time he’d be exactly what was advertised of him on draft day but the thing was he wasn’t even the leading
Score that below belonged to Miles Bridges the person everyone wanted to see Michael kid Gilchrist turn into miles Bridges would totally transform into a true off ball score with mow ball at the helm catching lobs and getting open opportunities from his gravity and if you’re a Hornets fan watching him on
The court would sure to get the announcer Eric Collins out of his seats and yell his signature phrase picked up by Plumley Here Comes roier he’s got my yza hum didly D that man seriously has the best job in the NBA and I’d exactly would be what he is if given the
Opportunity God bless Eric Collins but anyways it was seriously a good time to be a Hornets fan you have two players under 24 years old averaging 20 points per game Terry Rosier continues to be efficient and it’s almost averaging 20 points himself Kelly UB Off the Bench is an absolute flamethrower lighting up
Teenss as soon as he checks in and Mason Plumley would translate well in his role after his career year in Detroit they were seriously one of the most fun teams in the NBA to watch with with their nearly Unstoppable offense and the Highlight re combo of Miles Bridges and
Lamelo ball however by the All-Star break they started to slip ever so slightly with a record of 29 and 31 but they be met with some more good news first on February 10th 2022 The Hornet would trade Vernon Cary ish Smith in a 2023 second round pick to the Washington
Wizards for the services of former six-man of the Year winner monre Herold Mitch cup again strikes while the iron is hot and takes another valuable piece for seemingly nothing to help bolster this roster’s offensive identity and considering that montre is known to do a lot in such a short amount of time
With his role on the Clippers he’d be perfect for this Hornets team and speaking of short amount of time Lamela ball in only his second season will become an All-Star for the Hornets making the third in this timeline and also the youngest as he replaced Kevin
Durant due to his injury and just like in the seasons of old the Hornets would come together after this All-Star break with a fresh start and finish the season 14-8 and have have an overall record of 43 and 39 good enough for the 10 seed which means once again they get another
Opportunity to make the playoffs through the playin tournament but first this team in a short amount of time with the help of coach burgo and Mitch cup check at the GM rooll has achieved so much they even went and signed Isaiah Thomas for the rest of the season just to add
Some more depth to their scoring after trading away is Smith in that montre Herald deal we see lamelo ball become a star in the making Bridges become a valuable offens the piece Rosier become worthy of the kemell Walker trade and much much more unfortunately due to that mid-season drought though they would
Have to fight their way through the playoffs in the playin and it starts off against the Atlanta Hawks who they would lose to 132 to 103 I can’t keep defending this team the way I am but I also did fail to mention that the Hornets own a bottom five defense once
Again and allowed the second most three-pointers in the NBA that year eventually the Hornets will have to address that but Rome was a built the day for now we have to enjoy the Hornets making great strides and winning 10 more games than year before lamelo ball becoming an Allstar and now in this
Year’s upcoming draft owning two lottery picks the future is bright again in Charlotte and all they got to do is make a few more great decisions to become a real threat in the Eastern Conference and a real threat in the NBA landscape itself to immediately start the 2022 off
Seon seon the Hornets in the NBA fan base is met with some interesting news on April 22nd 2022 8 days after losing to the Atlanta Hawks to play in four-year coach James Bargo will be fired from his position as the head coach but the person who wanted him
Fired and made the final call was Michael Jordan the owner himself reports speculate it was due to his constant short leash to young players which drove Malik monk away caused a certain incident with James book Knight on the bench earlier in the year and even having a short leash on Allstar lamelo
Ball while being more lenient to the vets and letting them play over the young players and obviously I’ve been saying this this entire time they’ve been making this rebild period go way too fast and bgo sped it up even more with his coaching style but also he
Didn’t get too much respect for the locker room itself again the book Knight situation is one main example people speak about and lamelo ball being very vocal about his coaching style in involving himself so with that you can either say bgo was in the wrong with his
Style or call him a scapegoat but it would take a lot to fire the man who only made the team Garner more success year by year but what’s done is done Borgo is fired and they go back to their old hired coach in Steve Clifford so let’s hope things turn out better as
They go back and hire the coach who got his first big break with this franchise with a new culture in place and a new coach hired we have the NBA draft once again and with the 13th and 15th pick they are now able to once again make the
Most out of a solid draft class and with a real need at the center spot they will finally address their biggest problem from last year their lack of rebounding and a real defensive anchor with the 13th pick in the 2022 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornets select Jaylen durren from the University of
Memphis Jaylen Duran is the most perfect fit for this team and when I watched this draft live I had him on my own personal draft board going to the Charlotte Hornets as I knew he would be the missing puzzle piece in this team but unfortunately guess what he was
Traded soon after the perfect Energizer Bunny and athletic center who would be the perfect lob threat for lamelo ball was right there and he was traded as soon as he was drafted this deal to the Knicks would send him over for a 2023 first round pick and four second round
Picks I am not kidding five picks in total for Jaylen Durant so now technically they only have one true pick in this class and well they still need a center so take number two with the 15th pick in the 2022 NBA draft the Charlotte Hornet select Mark Williams from Duke
University okay let’s try this again Mark Williams the 7 foot and 250 lb center from Duke be clear center of the future for the Charlotte Hornets and while Durant is more of an active and mobile center for a size Mark Williams is more of a traditional Center size
Wise and more solid as a center defensively he for sure gets the job done averaging 11 points and seven rebounds in the sophomore year at Duke but what really made him stood out in this draft was his 2.8 blocks a game with a 7 foot6 wingspan which ranks
First in the whole entire draft combine that year so that shot blocking potential is going to be really needed for the team was one of the worst defenses in the league and the team who gave up the most offensive rebounds in the league so now they have a young
Talent at every position and this potential rebuild can get rolling at all angles and with the coach who is open to having young players being the future of the team unlike James morgo we could see some youth thrive in Charlotte North Carolina it may not come with a lot of
Winning but we’ll just have to see about that in the free agency period all they would sign is Dennis Smith Jr a former draft bus in the 27 class and with another quiet period in free agency done it is time for another season of Hornets basketball oh wait I I guess I still
Have to talk about that don’t I oh boy okay um on July 29th 2022 miles Bridges the budding star of the Hornets would be arrested on domestic assault charges to his then girlfriend and mother of two kids oh boy while they were unfortunately watching this happen not
Good due to that he was charged with one f count of causing harm to a parent of a child and two counts of child abuse that could have put him in jail for a long time but he pleaded not guilty to set charges and due to these charges and
Incoming Court battle he would step away from the team with no timetable of return for both his NBA career and possible Freedom as an American so off the bat miles bridg is going to be on the team and they’d be missing their leading score from last season this
Would be a huge trend for the team in general as lamelo ball would miss the first 13 games of the Season play three games to start off the year and then get a turned ankle due to stepping on a Fan’s foot which took him out for
Another 11 games this was the trend of the 2022 season injuries and a lot of them whether it was lamelo ball having his lower body issues that caused him to only play 36 games this entire season Gordon Hayward only lasting 50 games rookie Mark Williams only playing 41
Doing his Myriad of injuries from a bum ankle to a thumb issue and even Kelly UB injuring his hand that took come out for half of the year the Hornets this season started 14 different players and there was plenty of instability due to it and with that instability the tank was
Coming for them and hard so to fully embrace the tank they traded Mason plumbley to the Los Angeles Clippers for Reggie Jackson a 2028 second round pick and cash considerations with Mark Williams being the center of the future it was time to finally do away with
Mason and it made sense and as expected Reggie would be waved to continue letting the young guys get opportunities and let Reggie find a team that will actually use him overall though this season was a huge bust but with the injury history all over this team All
Season it was excusable to have a record of 27 and 55 the fourth worst record in the NBA that year but were there any positive to speak of of this injury riddled season I can’t really say so a lot of the players stayed the same development wise despite PJ Washington
Playing the most games out of everyone that season there was no improvement from him and he was looking for a big payday after this year tooo but considering his baby mama situation and the person he’s dating now he’s going to need as much money as possible again
Though this season was a wash and due to it being just so sad they get a prime time pick in this next draft with the fourth best odds at Victor wiimin Yama but Lady Luck blesses them once again for the second time in four years unfortunately though they didn’t get the
Number one pick but they would get the second best option with the second pick in the 2023 NBA draft but what’s even better this time around just like when they picked up lamelo in 2021 they have a clear top three choice of players they can choose from that will automatically
Change the trajectory of your franchise so even though this season was a washed the positive in this is they get blessed with the second overall pick and can really turn this franchise around having two stars on this team in the future and now it is the modern day even
Though the record may not indicate it being 10 and 35 right now as I record this video which is insane for me to say I know the future is still very much in the brighter side for the Charlotte Hornets as of right now they are super satisfied with their second overall pick
In Brandon Miller who is definitely showing major potential in his first season and for how rocky it was in the beginning as he gets more used to NBA defense as it gets bigger I know Brandon will become his offensive star like his Idol in Paul George with this record the
Wers continue to embrace the tank just like last year recently trading away Terry Rosier to also open up more opportunities for someone younger add on to the fact that Michael Jordan’s reign of terror is finally over selling a majority steak of the Charlotte Hornets
We are truly about to go into a new age of Charlotte Hornets basketball in the future lamelo ball while doing with injuries just like last year once he gets back and healthy he’ll become a top point guard of the future as the older ones retire out and will become a duo
With Brandon Miller who already has the tools to be a tops scory Wing in the NBA unlike the Pistons when I talked about them I actually have faith that the Hornets can turn it around in a few years and if their current season stays at this rate that it is they will get
Another top pick and make a true core that will carry them for years but what did we learn over these years of me talking about the Charlotte Hornets well for one Michael Jordan owning a team was a huge mistake him making final decisions on draft picks and trades did
More harm than good and honestly most if not all of the decisions in the first decade and some change was due to the goat so I’ll just say it like this the Charlotte Hornets have a good thing going for them and like I said earlier there are a few good decisions away from
Going back into their ’90s form and being a perennial playoff threat just keep Michael Jordan away from the franchise and maybe just maybe try to get the young guys to stop making dumb decisions and you got something good in the future and if they don’t then this
20-year timeline full of misery and bad decisions can expand to an even longer period tell me what team timeline you’d like to see next and your thoughts on the video and until next time
The Charlotte Hornets, once a respected upstart Franchise starting in the 1989 NBA Season was at one point a team who had alot going for it in only existing for 14 seasons. From the duo of Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning that ended prematurely, trading for Glen Rice and Anthony Mason who had their time in the sun. And playing soon to be cult hero Mugsy Bouges and one of the best shooters of the 90s, Dell Curry. But as the Hornets became riddled with controversy, which we’ll get into later, the Hornets moved to New Orleans, and rebranded as the New Orleans Hornets. However, after a 2 year hiatus of no Charlotte Basketball, the Hornets came back as the final expansion team becoming the Bobcats in the 04-05 season. And as Charlotte sports fans reveled in reliving the good ole days, what they didn’t know is, the Bobcats and soon to be Hornets, would become the most disappointing Franchise in the NBA spanning 20 whole years. Whether that is making horrible draft selections that aged like milk, owners making moves that hinder the team, and or signings that push the team back rather than forward. These are the many types of blunders we will talk about that creates the Charlotte Hornets only making the playoffs 3 times in 20 seasons, going through 8 coaches, drafting only 3 All Stars, and of course, owning the worst record in NBA History at one point. This is The Eternal Rebuild of the Charlotte Hornets, a 20 year NBA Timeline! But hey, atleast they have Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller to look forward too.

Thank You Alvini my hate for Jordan summed up story needs to be told
Jordan really played for one of the most greediest, ruthless and flat out incompetent owners ever who won the lottery with him and Scottie and failed upward thereafter.
And Michael really said, "Bet, that's exactly what I wanna do. Just gotta buy a team and hit the lottery in the draft."
Hopefully times will change for my Hornets sometime soon. Ive been a fan all my life, minus that time period they left Charlotte but i quit watching basketball entirely during that span
you should do the vancouver grizzlies/Memphis grizzlies
um how’d marquesse chriss get on that list of great college players 💀
Man, this just shows that great players dont make great GMs or coaches. Yet, some people get upset when you point this simple truth out.
MOM NEW ALVINI LINGUINE DOC JUST DROPPED 🗣️🗣️🗣️
I'm just going to say it in the best way possible: This franchise was better off as the Charlotte Bobcats.
Can it even be called a rebuild when this iteration of the team has never actually been built?
This isn't the same team as the old Hornets and didn't have the assets the similarly frustrating Pelicans had. And that team was bad. Very bad. That's like the worst possible start for a franchise as you could imagine.
As a Hornets fan, this hurts. Sincerely
Charlotte Coliseum Was Built In 1988 Not 1998
Can you do the process era sixers? 8:29
After all my years watching the NBA in general, Charlotte has never catch a break. Great documentary on them Alvini! 💯🔥💪🏾
Clippers before lob city please
What’s the sound in the background at around 1:32:17 and like the 30 seconds before that? Shit slaps fr
it is genuinely surprising that the hornets haven't been re-located again, i wouldn't be shocked to see them moved if they continue to be this bad
ALVINI MUTHAFUKKIN LINGUINE!!!!
AD pelicans 2012-2019 would be interesting for a video as they only made the playoffs twice with him mostly the fault of the pelicans organization surrounding him with garabge role players
Fuck!!!! You didn’t have to do my hornets like this 😢 😭 I’ll be back to watch all 2hours
Dumb video can tell you are just like the media that dont watch Hornets but make dumb statements. The knew franchise is not the same as the one first established in 1989. The new Hornets was an expansion team that start off as the Bobcats. Like all expansion teams they struggled. The old Hornets move to New Orleans then years later changed their name to the Pelicans. Then new Bobcats got took back the name of the Hornets and NBA gave the new Hornets all of their old records. When Jordan took over the team was old and was an 8 seed that got sweep. So the Bobcats at the time tanked and got Kemba Walker with the 9th pick. That was a great move by Jordan and the last pick he made. Jordan hired a GM Rich Cho and he made bad moves and could never build around Kemba. Jordan fired Cho hired Kupchick tanked again and got LaMelo, Rozier and Hayward. The problem was they all stayed injured which only lead to one winning season since LaMelo has been drafted. Jordan sold the Majority of the team for 3 Billion but is still part owner of the Hornets. Jordan last move as Majority owner was to draft Brandon Miller. Do your research before posting dumb videos
1:13:06 man I almost forgot about him god damn it 😔😔bad time to be a Cavs fan
alvini linguine vid the length of the nolan batman movies? sign me up
melo is 6-7"
We need a downfall of the bulls as a franchise
Get this man more subscribers goddamn he deserves it
Jordan really screwed up lmao… But even without him, i doubt the hornets will be better anytime soon unless lamelo and miller go ham next season…
gotta do a wizards timeline
‘San Francisco’ as background music for any part of this was an ironic, and hilarious, choice…and as the background choice for ‘12-13 section IN PARTICULAR…glorious
Do the Chicago bulls and the Knicks next
BABE ALVINI JUST DROPPED A NEW DOC !🗣️🗣️🗣️
You should do the Bulls since DRoses first acl injury. Pretty much the same with bad draft picks, bad trades, and stuck in mediocrity.
