Lockdown Spurs hey speaking of the allstar yeah you know there was no Spurs Representatives at the main event Sunday night’s game but I think it’s safe to say that wimy will be there soon enough I you know he mentioned it quite often you know not quite often but a few times

That he would have loved to make made the squad this year in his rookie season but unfortunately it was just the numbers thing I think there was just too much talent ahead of him and but he’ll get his due so before you Spurs fans are thinking oh my God it’s going to take

Verb for a Spur to be out there on the Sunday event look Wendy will be there and look even when he was not there he was everywhere radio Allstar radio I seriously you turned on some uh sports stations about yesterday’s game they were talking about wimby yeah from from

Players uh to to the attention he was getting at the two events that he participated in it was all about him safe to say there’s a slight not a slight but a very good chance that he will be the face of this league soon enough just look what he’s doing in his

Rookie season imagine that when he gets seasoned and fills out his body more and becomes a dominant force in the league he already is getting there but oh my goodness once he gets his SE legs out of the way and gets really going we’ll see what he can do and I’m pretty sure

One judge gave him a 46 I can’t remember who it was but yeah the judging was kind of off this year um I don’t know man I mean really to be honest with you until they really make changes to the DK contest it’s a turn it’s an event that I

Kind of just turn off every now and then I was just at home last night and I other I just kind of caught it so it was kind of one of those uh I guess type in the win type stuff but yeah the judging was horrible yeah you you didn’t miss much really

I mean did everybody have to jump over somebody was that the key that theme of this year just jump over somebody I guess I mean it’s you know it’s weird because you’ve got a lot of these amature dunkers Jordan kilganon is one I’m kind of thinking if you want

Something like that you kind of got to get these guys involved they’re going um you know behind their back with one hand I mean I’ve seen crazy stuff happen so I think to make the dunk contest a little bit more you kind of go go along the

Dunk contest I I’m I look forward more to the uh Three-Point Contest because I mean it’s it’s actually a really good skill type of event to have I look forward to the skills challenge now this kind of Ages me a lot but I know you remember my favorite event was always

The uh the Legends game yeah bring that back all the old guys are out there playing and you know of course I think uh Hotrod Hunley I believe got hurt really bad or somebody got hav got hurt really bad or something so they had to quit doing that but the DK contest it

Was was a great event um we can’t forget there’s been some massively great contests but for every one great Dunk Contest you probably have like five that’s just kind of BL yeah I think the last dunk cast contest that I was really interested in was Aaron Gordon and

LaVine I mean that that’s probably the last time we had a just a jawdropping dunk contest you know is there anything I do want to give props to is Jaylen Brown know how they say the Stars don’t come out for this event at least he showed up I mean that was the

Closest we had to a superstar in the league play and he had some very power he has had out of power dunks in him but I think he screwed up the dbrown tribute I mean bad yeah bad I I didn’t honestly if we’re gonna be honest you know I I

Didn’t expect him to make it to the next round his his dunks were okay but I think what it was was they needed I really felt that it was more star driven because Jaylen Brown is an All-Star he’s a star in the league getting him into

The finals against one of the other guys was probably the whole thing ahead of time I’m not into conspiracy theories but it just kind of to me it just didn’t make sense how a lot of his dunks were you know they were getting the crowds

Were booing him so I mean that kind of tells you a little bit more how excited the crowd was to see a lot of these guys dunk anyway I thought uh toen he had a really good dunk the 360 left-handed dunk I thought that was pretty good yeah

Uh you know I I think mclung you know he I wanted more out of him I mean he’s a high flyer but I think he could have done more I I did appreciate the let go and grab in the midair thing I mean that was something that was never done before

He did it uh but yeah I think at the end of the day they got to do something with it and I think you’re right just open it up to anybody and if you can if you’re even a street a street baller go ahead go ahead you can wow a judge and make

Yourself in and know why don’t they have this Rudy have like a nationwide dunk contest for the dunk contest you know like like a tournament I think it’s cool I mean something like that you know what’s cool about the NBA also our weekend if it’s for the fans is what it

Is so I mean if you involve the fans in any way possible that could probably you know draw even more crowds and probably get more eyes and the stuff I’d be interested in tuning into a DG contest where you know yes it’s about the NBA

Allstars and all this stuff but I mean n none the same man they they have their days on Sunday for the All-Star Game there’s other events that these guys can participate in if you want to make the dunk contest a little bit more maybe

Pair them up an NBA an NBA player with a amateur type guy and they both get a couple of dunks and you know some just something to change it um I know we’ve discussed it and to be honest man there’s really not much you can do to

The dunk contest to make it to make I’m more concerned about changing the allstar game rather than changing the duck contest yeah yeah I mean they dunked over I mean they even dunked over some kid I never heard of some social media influencer I like yeah I’ve never

Heard I don’t know who these kids are you know I don’t know this reflection of our age Rudy but I didn’t know who he was I don’t think anybody really know and I didn’t get what was going on with that Dominique thing remember that guy came out with Dominique yeah was that

Dominique was a judge but why he was in full Dominique uniform I got no I it had nothing now it was kind of a Dominique dunk back in I believe it was 88 or ‘ 87 where he had the windmill twoand but Jaylen Brown didn’t even do the

Two-handed windmill it was onehanded so again I it was just another I guess another waste of an opportunity for them to do something with yeah and and it feels like Allstar Saturday night is the preferred night versus the Sunday game uh you know I mean okay sure would let’s

Not know crap all over the Sunday game I mean Hal Burton came out strong in that first period hit some deep threes really getting the crowd going okay here we go Curry came in hit some threes all and all you know it’s just it just feels like there’s something missing

Like in the last three years it feels like there’s something missing you know maybe it’s just that we we could it be just that we aged out Rudy like we just aged out we like we’ve been there done that already the days of you know actually defense playing in All-Star

Games you know Michael Jordan Magic Johnson Larry Bird those days are gone man I doubt we ever get him back and that’s kind of one thing that I talk a lot about is how do you fix the All-Star Game you know me I I proposed hey there’s 12 players we’re putting $12

Million every winner gets a million dollars and the losing team gets zero okay so I mean a million dollar bonus would make you want to play and win this game people were saying well do it like the MLB allstar game where the winning team gets you know homec court advantage

In the finals but to me that’s kind of crappy because it’s 82 Game season if you bust your butt for 82 games and you get the best record in the league you you deserve to have you know at least home court advantage in the finals but I

Mean I know Derek gin also mentioned maybe an NBA versus the world type thing I I think that’s that could be the key right there I think that would be awesome to see uh again like Luca and you know yok Jer yeah yeah a lot of

These guys think about it too wmy would be on that team World exactly you can you can kind of open it up to the rosters um you know you’ll have Giannis and those guys I mean Shay gilr Alexander who was having a good allar game you know he having a good allar

Game as well I mean you’ve got so many international players that now it’s kind of like NBA versus the world something like that would be good but then again you go to the players Jeff and you’re like can we at least play some defense like don’t TR like an All-Star Game you

Gotta find something to get these players to compete and to be honest what I think it was Kenny Smith that said it you know the best thing to do is treat it like summer league you’re not gonna go get hurt but you’re gonna compete for a roster spot right that makes more

Sense to me exactly yeah I mean look allar Saturday night was fun the Three-Point Contest was cool you know the dunk contest it wasn’t horrific as we’ve seen it years past but it definitely lacked some spice uh you but all in all look you know it was another

Each other so that was kind of a bummer I think that was a missed opportunity that would have been great for Spurs fans to see soan and wimy uh go at each other but shockingly the team g-league which was debtless shrimp they beat the T what what was it the the all rookie

Team that was with wimy and and whatnot but I was a little stunned by that I did not expect that to happen yeah I did not expect the uh the team debt left to Win In fact when we talked about it on sweep the league we we had team Deb left in

Last I mean uh I mean you got a lot of G League guys in there but I mean surprisingly you saw LZ Williams playing good M you know Sam Dunk champion was playing good and it just seemed like they had a better team all around compared to you know wy’s team which is

Team pal I mean Brandon Miller was a noow in that you wouldn’t have ever expected that with the way he’s been playing and really the three guys that you kind of expected to show up were W haime wz and P Pinsky and they actually did I mean case Wallace had a good point

A good showing as well but yeah very very shocking to start that night yeah yeah soan it felt like he just was riding uh the way of winning I mean he didn’t he went scoreless for the first two games you know his team team jayen

Rose they did win the uh the whole thing and I think uh I think soan pocketed about 25k for pretty much just uh playing what about nine minutes total is give or take but you know soan didn’t really make a a statistical impact on the court he was a starter but

Nevertheless uh you know as far as stats are concerned not much to really I think he had a couple rebounds in game two but again it was you know I really thought wmy was going to dominate and but I look back at that game I don’t think anybody

If you want to do like hindsight 2020 thing nobody should be surprised because these are g- Leaguers that have been playing I guess NBA Style ball longer than the rookies were Ry yeah so you know the one guy that was circled for team thatl was ammani Bates I mean ammani Bates has

Been you know as well and that was one guy that they figured would give Victor a lot of trouble didn’t really have a really good game Amman Bates but like I said you know the guard play was Stellar for team DF with ales Williams and M mclung um matz boues you know he’s

Another name that gets thrown out uh in the G league and he’s also another name that a lot of you know a lot of organizations are looking at you know to call up and to I believe is going to be the draft this upcoming season if I’m

Not mistaken this summer so yeah I mean G that’s not be wrong the g- league is obviously the minor league but right these guys are still capable of playing NBA basketball at points I mean they get called up all the time Jeff so it’s not

A surprise to me but again it kind of goes to show you that you know again it’s a fun weekend it’s a great weekend it’s for the fans but you know you can’t sleep on any team that’s no matter what absolutely and you know you just felt

Nevertheless wimy uh day uh day one was kind of a bust onto day two two uh which well Allstar Saturday night that was Friday to Saturday excuse me yeah um it was a skills Challenge and only Wy played and again came up short they did not win any of the series they amassed

Zero points do you blame Anthony Edwards for messing around because that’s pretty much what he did he was just messing around openly said that he was going to try to shoot left-handed this and that didn’t really take it too seriously you know I know it’s supposed

To be fun in games but yes I kind of had some Choice words on Twitter or X for Anthony Edwards and I I I kind of I mean I’m not even gonna say I kind of I do blame him look I I get it it’s a fun

Weekend man it’s for the fans you’re supposed to have fun you’re able to relax but as a competitor and you know everyone that competes in advance man you want to take it serious to a point throwing up these three-point shots left-handed was just wrong man I mean

Here’s the thing Jeff if I’m getting a participation trophy or a ro a ribbon even if we win all we get is a ribbon you know like we used to get in the bike rodo back in the day um then fine cool do what you want but these guys pocket

Money at the end of the event so if you win you get money for that I mean yeah sure hey 25k 50k doesn’t you know means doesn’t mean a lot you know to these guys but I mean it some of these players actually do really want to win for that

Reason alone so I felt bad for uh for wmy and I believe it was Paulo as well but yeah Paulo um I felt bad for them because they still had a chance to possibly win that event and see Anthony Edwards do that that that’s just a joke

Man that to me that kind of made me uh maybe a little less of an Anthony Edwards fan after that yeah again uh know team top picks which was with Anthony Edwards and pal ban Carol they did not like I mentioned they didn’t Advance they didn’t win any

Points just I mean nothing they they were bounced fast so again wimy was on the losing side of things on Allstar Weekend and that was it for uh Spurs representation but not really because on Sunday Don Barlo played uh in the g- league next up game unfortunately it was

One and done for him too his team team strictly lost in the tournament I got the score here G me two seconds uh yeah they lost 30 to 27 so the G Le tournament was first to 30 that was it uh but Barlo yeah didn’t really you know

Just came up short at least well team strictly did not Barlo uh he played um he shot 33 for four from the field he had one three-pointer he had a rebound he had a steal so I mean there you have it you know he did some impact but a

Very quick exit for him to I spoke to Barlo before he went out to Indianapolis and he had told me Rudy that he had never been to an All-Star game not even as a fan not even as a player you know some just players just go to hang out

Antonio the backto back and quote is that all it’s going to take for wimy to surpass Duncan just to defend a title something Duncan never did man you know I remember if y if they go back to listen to sweep the league you and I and everybody had the same argument for a

Good amount of the time and it to me it’s kind of hard because a back toback would be so amazing for San Antonio um definitely puts him in the conversation I think it definitely puts him a ahead of David easily easily yeah happens but

When when I when I talk to you about it you know the last time it goes still for me the back toback is huge but what if he goes let me post the question to the fan out there what if he goes back to back but he only makes eight playoff

Appearances in his entire career I mean you gotta remembery Timmy was 20 plus you know 20 plus playoff appearances he has what the five titles in there never back to back and we can blame Ray Allen and a couple other incidences that Ka back back Kawai one there was an

Opportunity where the Spurs could have probably threee somewhere in there so again backto back is is huge but how big is it if he only makes eight nine playoff appearances in his career yeah but you’ve got Timmy who dominated his entire career playoff appearances year after year for me it still holds water

Jeff that 20 plus year playoff Creak means a lot to me if you want to be the goat of the San Antonio Spurs yeah yeah yeah look I think backto back pushes him past Manu and Tony right he’s I think he passes Manu and Tony regardless titles

David David too or do you think he has more meat in the bones let’s just say he gets a back toback and doesn’t really have all that other extra stuff like maybe like the the dominance like Duncan had like for 20 years in a row of playoff uh appearances what if he has

Like eight or something like that if you know what if it’s a back toback is all he has then he’s second I mean right behind Timmy okay I could not put him I could not put him ahead of Tim Duncan okay for that for that aspect right

There man it feels like we’re sitting the bar low though for D Rob though and that’s sad because I mean Rob and see that was the other thing Robinson came in and did a what 30 plus game turnaround I mean we’re not seeing that from wimy so you’re gonna have the sides

Then you have the same people arguing well Devin’s good Kell’s good you know Jeremy’s good I mean why is he not winning the arguments are back and back and back I think that it’s gonna take it’s gonna take a back toback to put him above David yeah I think so but if he

Has a title here and a title there I still put David ahead of him exactly because David had playoff appearances even before Tim Duncan they had to run a playoff so it’s those playoff appearances if you want to be a goat you’ve got to lead your team to somewhat

Of a Promised Land yeah and David took them uh to the Western Conference Finals uh what how many times once or twice uh was twice okay the Portland CH Blazers was one thank you Rod Strickland and then was it the same was it the finals when Barkley closed
