Yeah, just watched this myself. Kind of pathetic. Dallas?! lol.

  2. NorthStar-Wolf32

Yeah idc I’d rather everyone count them out then everyone crown them and then they get dragged through the mud if they dont win it all

  3. organized_meat

As others have mentioned, until this team proves something in the playoffs, they aren’t going to get much respect from national media.

  4. Robbie_hummel

Mavs is interesting. He’s a great analyst in general his discussions on JJs podcast and the All NBA pod are super enjoyable

  5. LazyTemperature3064

All he had to do was replace the team currently in the play-in with the team currently in first place and no one would have an issue. The other four are all legitimate playoff threats. The Mavs entirely missed the PLAY-IN last season and have proved even less than the Wolves. Makes no sense, the national obsession with that team

  6. Trash-Panda917

It’s weird he always hyping us up in the all nba podcast, saying we’re super legit and now this?

  7. JustSeriousEnough

Idk about disrespect…on the All NBA pod, Tim Legler follows the Wolves quite closely. He’s specifically cited that he can’t consider the Wolves or OKC as title contenders because they haven’t been deeper into the playoffs. The usual model is that good teams need experience in the playoffs to usually be considered title contenders. Tim Legler certainly believes the Wolves are legit this year, but when giving reins late in games to a 22 yr old kid without any playoff series wins under his belt, hard to say title contenders.

Like look at that list of teams. The Mavs were in the Western Conference finals with Luka 2-3 years ago. All those teams have had playoff success.

And I completely respect that take. I think the Wolves are a title contender in my eyes because I think defense can translate to the playoffs. But on the outside looking in, Legler’s position is easily defensible. Let’s not get it twisted, Tim Legler is one of the gold standard national NBA voices.

  8. Slight slander aside I love this man as a analyst

  9. Ozzietheparrot

Guessing he likes the Mavs and Suns over us only because he played for those two teams, because objectively they are clearly not better than the team that has led the West all season, and only a fucking idiot would say so.

  10. kanokari

At least he’s consistent and didn’t put the thunder in

  11. goingtothegreek

Everyone is riding the Mavs after a 6 game winning streak against a soft schedule, with a statement win against OKC. All that said when the Mavs are healthy they are a really good team, but to have them on there and not the Wolves is disingenuous pandering to the Dallas/Luka market.

In general I do like Tim Legler though, the All-NBA Podcast is one of the better ones out there imo.

  12. kingkongkeom

Wolves finished 8th last season, because they hadn’t figured themselves out. This season they finally did, but there is no evidence that it translates to the playoffs yet.

Have a good playoff run and you will be considered next year. I think it’s a reasonable take, especially from Legler, who is better than almost all analyst on TV. And he is a big supporter and hypes the wolves, but not having them as a top 5 contender this year is fair.

  13. We haven’t done shit in the playoffs so it kinda makes sense. Haven’t won a playoff series since 04, we gotta prove it.

  14. No_Cow_8702

Lol. They put the Mavs over us? 😂😂😂😂😂

  15. kingcityskate

ima mavs fan and i’m happy to see them up there but timberwolves should be up there too

  16. Andy_Wiggins

That’s weird; he’s been very positive about the Wolves on his podcast (The All NBA podcast).

I understand having the Wolves lower than their current standings (2nd best record in NBA), but I’m hard pressed to see them behind both the Mavs and Suns, although I do understand both as talented teams that could beat the Wolves in a series. But Dallas’ defense seems suspect as hell, and Phoenix just can’t string many wins together despite playing the easiest schedule in the NBA so far.

  17. BonelessBabies

Not exactly hate when each of these teams have been to a conference finals in the last 5 years. Meanwhile we have yet to get out of the first round.

  18. Willing-Body-7533

Looks like probably top 5 nationally broadcasted teams this season (besides Lakers)…which airs largely on ESPN…which employs Legler…

  19. Willing-Body-7533

Mavs and suns don’t belong here.

  20. Sam7sung

It’s his opinion, so I’m not gonna get upset over it. Considering that none of our major players have made it past the second round aside from Conley, I’m not surprised either.

Mavs is interesting, though, with their defensive issues. They do have an MVP caliber player so I can see some logic to it

  21. aSc4rYGh0sT

The inclusion of the Mavs/Luka on the list makes it very obvious that this is just clickbate for casual fans.

  22. TangoYankee13

Keep sleeping on the Wolves. That’s ok. The real ones know better.

  23. fetchingcatch

To be fair, I’d rather have our team be there with a chip on the shoulder than have status with expectations

  24. Gbaby245

Until you’ve done it, you haven’t done it. I believe in this team, and love our current roster. But, I’d be lying if I didn’t also acknowledge I am nervous depending on our 1st round match up. I think we can make a run for sure, but a bad matchup, injury or just refball vs the lakers or warriors can all happen.

  25. Broseph_Bobby

Tim Legler is a doofus and one of the most naturally ugly people on the planet earth.

They all say oh “all teams have to do is play small”…

Why don’t they do it now? We whooped the Clippers butt twice. Why didn’t they “just go small” on us?
