What are your thoughts? Because the stats don’t backup him being awful. And please let’s not mention the contract. We get it, he got paid a lot of money a few years ago.

$40m a year for a bum. Doesn’t rebound well enough. Doesn’t defend well enough. Doesn’t shoot well enough. Doesn’t do anything well enough to justify his bloated ass yearly salary and also generally disappears in any sort of situation where you would want him to step up.
Empty stats, doesn’t turn up when we need him in big games/when Embiid is out. Doesn’t shoot enough 3s, passing up open shots to drive in for a contested mid range or post up. Not a good rebounder for his size – I swear he thinks boxing out illegal.
Just doesn’t fit what we need on our team.
Haven’t watched many games this year but when he is on the floor when it comes to boards etc he doesn’t seem to “want it”. He could easily have 8-10 boards every night from what I’ve seen. There was one playoff game last year where you could see the effort akin to PJ offensive rebounding levels of efforts but it only lasted the one game.
Fan hate is at an all time high. Theyve been ready for years to get rid of that contract
What’s the opposite of catching strays 😂 because we are gunning for this man now that we know he’s on his way out
As a Tobias sympathiser, I really do think his style of play is just outdated, and he’s stubbornly not changing his game to suit the modern NBA.
The most frustrating part is that there have been multiple stretches over his 5 years here where he decides to shoot 7 3s per game and stops bodying guys down the lane for a turnaround 8-footer. And when those stretches happen, the entire fanbase loves it, the team plays better, and he looks happier. And then… for some inexplicable reason… he just… goes back to his old ways. It’s brutal.
I like him as a person, as a leader, and I respect him for constantly changing roles to fit our revolving door roster. But I just don’t like his style of play, and I’ve come to realise that he’s holding the team back so much that it offsets all the good stuff he brings.
C’mon Tobi. If you’re reading this, **please** just go out with a bang and start launching 3s for the rest of the season. You’ll be gone soon and you won’t have to hear us crapping on you all the time. If it helps convince you, just know that you’re being as stubborn as Doc Rivers, and **no one** wants to be in the company of that dickhead.
Empty calories. Harris is legitimately bad at most things a role player should be good at. He’s terrible at closing out on the perimeter and switching. He avoids contact at all costs. Agonizingly slow decision maker on both ends. Low b-ball IQ. Low energy when he doesn’t have the ball. Too often flat footed. Refuses to move with force.
Even if averages are high he’s been as bad as he’s ever been since embiid went down
Even if having above average stats means you are an above average player, there would still be the even bigger problem of how much he’s paid. Watching the game last night I was thinking we could have 4 Donte Divencenzos for his salary. The problem with Tobi has never really been talent IMO, it’s been the fact that we tied up too much salary to pay him. And now that Josh Harris has his NFL team he’s not gonna be going over the cap for the sixers (and it was unlikely he would’ve in the past either)
17 points per game every game would be great. Unfortunately that’s not what he’s doing. He’ll give you 32 points, then 14, then 6. And more times than not, that 32 point game is a game we still lost or barely scraped together a win.
Yes and Dak threw for almost 400 yards in the divisional game. Garbage time players
He’s a slow player and slow decision maker which doesn’t fit into Nurse’s system
Stats don’t tell the whole story with him
Embiid is out and there’s a void to fill. You’d think our second highest paid player would be able to do that but when you’re unable to step up there’s a problem
Tobias ?
The people who defend him are the same people who would say Joel embiid is a FT merchant because they don’t watch the games. Stats are not the be all end all. He slows down the pace of the game. He takes away space from Joel embiid because he thinks he’s prime Melo. He has no idea what he’s doing on defense and shows no heart or hustle.
And the worst part is that Morey is gonna look at his stats and bring him back. He rejected Bojan and Burks for Harris. He loves tobiAss for some reason. And I’m never watching another game if he’s on the team next year
Averages don’t tell the story. He’s either James Harden or Adam Morrison. No inbetween.
Because only putting out slightly above average play for a top 10 contract in the league is hurting the team. We could have real depth behind Embiid or a third star on the wing with his money being spent elsewhere
His best skill is scoring and he’s tied for 55th in the NBA in PPG. 17.5 ppg isn’t anything to brag about in the year 2024, especially when he is playing 34MPG.
There are only 37 players playing as many or more minutes per game than Tobias this season, and here are Tobias’ [ranks](https://www.nba.com/stats/leaders?StatCategory=PTS) in each major category:
PPG: 33rd out of 37
RPG: 18th out of 37
APG: 34th out of 37
He doesn’t actually give good production compared to the amount that he plays.
Stop defending this clown.
HE. NEEDS. TO. GO. PERIOD.
He protects his numbers and seems to hide if he isn’t playing well. Last night when he came in after the sixers got within striking distance he wanted no part of trying to score.
How would we not mention the contract? In baseball where there’s no cap sure, but his lack of production with respect to the portion of cap space he’s taken up has clearly hampered their ability to make improvements the past few years
He needs to go
I don’t think that Tobi has ever been the right fit alongside Embiid. When he was given the big contract, his downhill style of play and tendency to position outside of rebound range made him a *perfect* compliment to Ben Simmons. And we all know how that worked out.
He should be averaging 20+ per game with Embiid out
