Draymond on 2022 championship: “That was the toughest one. [The Warriors] weren’t favorites, like everybody was calling us too small… and we went and made it happen. So that one was my favorite one, and then also I told [Kevin Durant], ‘I’m gonna win when you leave here’”

“2022 wasn’t really a championship team.. but that’s also when Steph took that next step of like ‘nah I’m really one of them GOATs’ and he carried us,” said Green. That was the toughest one. [The Warriors] weren’t favorites, like everybody was calling us too small… and we went and made it happen. So that one was my favorite one, and then also I told [Kevin Durant], ‘I’m gonna win when you leave here.’”

Why Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship is Draymond’s favorite

Warriors were tied for [3rd preseason favorite in betting odds](https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2022_preseason_odds.html) prior to the 21/22 season

For comparison the Nuggets last year were [9th with roughly twice as long odds](https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2023_preseason_odds.html) and I don’t think anyone would consider them any kind of “underdog story”

There’s a bit of a tendency to take one or two loud media members such as Nick Wright as the consensus opinion and say “NO ONE BELIEVED IN US” but the Warriors are pretty much one of the preseason odds favorites every year since 2015/2016 other than 2020

The Warriors were favoured in every single series they played that year and 2/4 teams had serious injuries (Ja for Memphis, Murray for Denver)

Had they lost any of the 4 series they played it would’ve been viewed as an upset by the other team. What is this new narrative lol

Wasn’t Draymond awful in the finals?

  4. BruceBrownMVP

Dray is like that one dude that begs and begs and begs a girl to go out with him.

Then when they break up he’s all yea I didn’t need that bitch man I’m better off without her.

  5. walterdog12

They were literally tied for the 3rd best pre-season odds behind the Nets and Lakers lol.

People forget the Celtics were 4 minutes away from beating the Warriors in game 4 and going up 3-1. But Steph refused to let it happen and had one of the most dominant performances I’ve ever seen. Sucked as a Celtics fan but you’ve gotta respect greatness

This is how I remember it: No one really predicted the Warriors to win it all…but that’s because no one gave a fuck about the West period. All eyes were on the Nets and the Bucks.

  8. Vexing_Pie

They started the season like 12-0 or something

  9. Street-Common-4023

Celtics were close to being up 3-1. They also won on the warriors home court. So honestly he isn’t wrong

  10. sergechewbacca

We almost lost that series because of Klay and Draymond. They were both awful, yet they’re the ones always going on about “rings”. Never hear it from Steph.

I will not stand for this jordan ‘michael jordan’ poole erasure

  12. MinesweeperGang

I remember SO many people had the Celtics winning it. Thought it was crazy then and still do now. People were way too confident in Boston that finals. Way too many basically wrote off GS. Insane.

“Enjoy y’all last win” -Wardell Stephen Curry II

  14. JarekBloodDragon

Draymond talks like he’s on kd or curry’s level. Good it’s annoying

  15. > weren’t the favorites

To be fair…Warriors were 3rd in odds to win it all at the beginning of the season behind the Nets/Lakers.

    – Lakers were fully injured

    – Nets self destructed from vaccine mandates

    – Nuggets had Murray and MPJ both injured

Steph came in clutch in game 4 against the baby Celtics. 23 year old Tatum had a James Harden ‘12 Thunder moment, was not ready for the big stage.

This was the first championship where Steph truly carried the Warriors. He was amazing. It cemented his status as an all-time great, and no one can ever take anything away from him.

I do want to see the Celtics get back to the finals. They were a very young team, and I almost feel like they over accomplished even making it there in the first place.

They were not ready for the moment. Next time, they will be ready, imo.

Boy couldn’t leave KD name out his mouth if his life depended on it

    > then also I told [Kevin Durant], ‘I’m gonna win when you leave here.’

I will never support the warriors as long as draymond is there. He is a drama queen and everything wrong with nba discussions today.

  19. aFishintheLake

When the Celtics went up 2-1, didn’t Steph tell someone from the Celtics team to “enjoy your last win”, then Warriors proceed to win the next 3. Cold blooded.

  20. Lovethatdirtywaddah

Draymond sounds like those army wives that demand to be called by their husband’s rank.

  21. goobywoobies

Steph’s greatness will always be remembered and appreciated but man.. guys like draymond are never gonna stfu about their rings like that 08 Celtics team

  22. realfakejames

Draymond was literally a non factor for that ring to the point even GSW fans were calling him washed and useless and saying it was time to trade him and move on, I don’t know why he’s talking, Jordan Poole and Wiggins contributed more than he did

  23. Draymond almost lost them that finals series. Steph saved his ass and so did Poole, who he ran outta town. KD won them 2 chips after Draymond barged him to join them, and he also ran him outta town. This dude is an ungrateful front running clown. Him and Klay really let this shit get to their heads when their both mid af now while Steph and KD are still primetime players but you never hear them talkin bout rings. I wanna hear his pod content when they get bounced outta the play in
