I really dont get the obsession over Tobi’s contract.
He was a veteran signing for the same team. He was going to get a max elsewhere. He arguably outperformed the other max contracts handed out in 2019 that year that the sixers reasonably could have signed (eg: Kemba Walker).
We didnt choose Tobias over Jimmy. We chose Ben and Brett Brown over Jimmy. Ben and Jimmy make no sense on the court at the same time. When we’d made the decision to go with Ben, we were never re-signing Jimmy.
Its just the economics of the NBA. These contracts are heavily structured based on staying with the same team and service time. Tobi’s contract was just what Tobi costs in the NBA.
