The raptors are 7-7 in new year when Poeltl plays
2-9 when when doesn’t play because of ankle injury in new year
I know people are so obsessed the pick
But poetl is legit starting centre in this league
Will be for next couple of years
If we give the spurs the 10-12 pick in bad draft, that’s about the value of starting centre with Poeltl production

Being glad to have Jak and being upset we won’t have our pick when we’re bad are not mutually exclusive.
It’s just unfortunate, and no one would care if our pick was 15-20 instead of 6-10.
Less concerned about giving up the pick for a starting vs not actively trying our best to improve our odds of keeping the pick
Poeltl is great, I will eat my hat if the pick we give up in this draft amounts to being as good as Poeltl remind me in 10 years if you have to.
Trade aside, this is why making a run at Claxton in free agency makes NO SENSE
Poeltl is a very good starting calibre centre. The hate he gets in game day threads is wild lol.
Have seen numerous comments about how we should throw the bag at Claxton in FA. Poeltl is comfortably better, though Claxton is younger
He was hustling big time last game (i forget maybe game before) but i remember watching him get up and down the floor back to back. Defensive plays, runs up court someone hands him the ball for a high screen, then repeat. Dude is so necessary
As much crap as people give him he is an integral part to what we do, and what we want to do.
It is nice he has stepped up.
Poeltl is Poeltl, but a pick can be anything, even Poeltl herp derp Family guy herp derp
He has some Pau Gasol to his game. Can see him making the all-star team next year if he learns how to shoot more than 4ft away from the basket.
I was never too sore about it. Also factor in the chemistry elements of guys who want to be here. Worth a slight overpay imho.
still wasn’t worth what we gave up.
The problem isn’t Poeltl but the fact that the team could go into a proper rebuild without knowing they’d have their pick this year.
I actually think this path is better, especially since the OG trade got us 2 high caliber starters to go with Scottie and Jak. A pick might’ve been a project and another losing year in 24-25 might push Scottie out the door. This way we get to see what we’ve got and maybe try and build a competitive team.
