Love RJ. Love that he just gets it done and doesn’t give a fuck. We need more hard nosed guys like him.

  2. jamiehizzle

RJ straight up WANTS to be here. Don’t get me wrong, i’m sure RJ wanted to be a professional ball player.. but he WANTED to be a Raptor. This is his dream come true, and his stats reflect that.

Just proving it wasn’t really a fluke that he cooked us every time he was in Toronto.

Now I don’t think he’ll maintain such a Torrid pace forever, but I do think these new numbers might be a lot closer to his new norm now that he’s got a much bigger role and a new system that plays more to his strengths

  4. Strong_Bumblebee5495

Now if he could only make a free throw! I kid I kid, love RJ

  5. mcbuchho

RJ and Quickly on the return for OG has quickly proven to be an absolute coup for us!! Love to see it.

  6. NeonPlamTree

Of course playing for his hometown city and country will do that

RJ seems kind of like the perfect third option on a championship team as long as he can understand his role…he’s kind of a jack of all trades and he’s a guaranteed bucket driving to the rim when the offense stagnates for too long…whenever we’re in an offensive rut he’s generally good for a couple nice left-handed layups and a trip to the three throw line

I’m really liking the Scottie, IQ, RJ, Dick lineup…I think as Dick develops he’s going to be our #2 next to Scottie, his game fits so well with Scottie and he and IQ space the floor so well…

I have no idea what this roster will look like in 2-3 years but I’m excited!

  8. CanadaBBallFan

Excellent spot up shooter, passing, and drives to the rim. It’s just too bad he never developed a jump shot. There is some Harden in RJs game.

  9. YoungSidd

Career-low in FT% too, he truly is a Raptor ❤

  10. Giga1396

I love this because usually it’s the other way around. It’s usually people who leave that pop off

  11. JoHowFayLix

I said yesterday this may be the second greatest trade in raptor history after the Kawhi deal. Just need him to start banging home those FTs

  12. Anxious-Sir-1361

Home cooking (and some Osmows) has done him very well!

I have to be honest, coming out of HS and Duke I always felt he was overrated, but he has been nothing short of a revelation with the Raps. I love that he is aggressive, but more so maximizing his opportunities based on passes he’s received rather than isolation play.

He fixes his free throw shooting and we have a gamer… I’m team Scottie, but I’d rather go to RJ to create a last-second shot, in particular, if he can get going downhill.

  13. Love rj and his game, his bully ball was much needed and he’s been very consistent for the raptors. He looks like he wants to be a raptor and his happy to be playing for them.

  14. passiveparrot

man our rebuild is looking pretty solid

already have 3 players that are 20ppg players with upside

lets just see how we fill out the rest of the roster going forward

  15. Relative-Sherbet-532

    love it.

if dude can get his FTs up to 80%, we’re golden.

  16. _d00little

Imagine SGA’s stats with this kind of home-cooking. 40/12/8

  17. Scobesanity

I know Raptors fans LOVE him because he’s Canadian, but these stats are NOT significantly better than what he put up as a 21 year old, two years ago in NYC. That year he was also close to 25PPG after the all-star game.

Why is this so hard for people to grasp?

  18. OG_anunoby3

At 23 he is not a finished product. I still think he can be a star. Not superstar but all-star level.

  19. RJ was miscast on the Knicks as a maybe 3rd option who played more off the ball. The difference here is his level of involvement in the offense; he needed a bigger role to thrive.

Nothing he’s doing right now seems unsustainable either. He’s playing within the offense and if anything should be given a few more shots.

All of this to say that this team seems further along than I think many of us thought and if all of the BBQ squad (and Gradey) takes a step forward now and heading into next season then it’ll be an interesting/competitive team.

  20. RobertRoyal82

It feels like this team is headed in the right direction

  21. DontToewsM3Bro

Some players just need fresh start with new organizations, new coach ,new system, etc

  22. BakedOnaRock

Can we call him Maple Mamba again now , Or is it too soon ?

  23. oozingmachismo

RJ’s been great, and contrary to Carmelo’s take, I find him enjoyable to watch.

However, what’s up with his free throw shooting?

  24. Artsky32

He’s gotta guard somebody though. He’s got to be much better on that end

  25. LH-Pipewrencher

He’s gonna turn into T-Mac. His ceiling is that good.

  26. CjSportsNut

Since the trade he has increased shots in the restricted area:

5.9 attempts in NY, 7.0 in Toronto

    Stopped taking midrange shots

1.2 per game in NY, 0.3 in Toronto

    Taking fewer threes

5.0 in NY, 3.8 in Toronto

  27. kendrickplace

Okay great, not give him back to us 🥲

But all jokes aside, I’m so happy for him. Glad he gets to play up there. Maybe because he’s back home and playing for the team he grew up rooting for

  28. jaggymage

RJ is a free bird in Canada. Fly free my guy

  29. JerryBlitter

Brings a tear to my hateful eye and warms my little black heart.

  30. trinxified

Aren’t these his stats with the Knicks too?

  31. JudoExpert

He just needs to hit his free throws and we would be golden
