Chuck on the Lakers & Warriors: “I’m sick of these fools on other networks talking about the Lakers and the Warriors. We don’t brag about any other play-in team, do we? I understand Steph is great, LeBron is great; ain’t nobody worried about the Warriors and the Lakers in the West.”

Barkley’s pure hatred of the Lakers is so funny

  2. honditar

Eh I think a few of the higher seeds might be a little worried by a Warriors/Lakers 1st round matchup

  3. mMounirM

cause networks don’t wanna hype up the international guys who are leading better teams.

They’re gonna ride the Lebron/Curry boat until they retire

  4. yapoonyapoon

Id be worried facing the lakers/warriors in any match up, especially in a 7 game series.

Ass backwards take from Sir Charles.

Good performances should be celebrated so when Curry and Lebron perform as they have, as all time greats, yeah they’re gonna get chatter and a lot of it is going revolve around the teams they’re on. They don’t have a problem mocking them, Chuck especially, when they do poorly. But now its a problem to actually talk about them when they win? Especially after a phenomenal comeback from the Lakers last night against a significantly better team (yes, the Clippers are better and you’re on acid if you think otherwise).

I know damn well Chuck don’t give a shit beyond the surface and he’s doing his part as a media member but you still gotta have some substance to what it is you’re saying. Be consistent; if it’s not a problem put these teams on blast when they suck, it sure as hell can’t be a problem to celebrate victories when they’ve earned them.

    Rare Charles Barkley L.

He said the same thing last year, yet the lakers made it to the WCF.

  7. goingtothegreek

I love the take, but as a Wolves fan it feels like he also doesn’t care about us lol

  8. He said this last year and then they both played eachother in the second round and forced networks into talking about them anyway lol

  9. Moist_Walrus5413

I’d love to say that he’s right but we literally saw a 7 and 8 seed win last season, one of those teams being LeBron’s Lakers so I’m not counting out LeBron and Steph at all.

  10. man I swear Chuck gripes about this every year. fact tho.

  11. Because they have the biggest fanbases.

No-one really cares about the other teams unless they’re their home team.

Once Steph and LeBron retire there are gonna be a lot of fans who stop watching the sport.

The only issue is when the Lakers (especially) are penciled in for a segment on every show, every day

Then the media cries about not having a new superstar or bad ratings, but imagine if the NFL media focused 60% of all coverage on the Dallas Cowboys, regardless of how they were doing?

  13. oceancools

Barkley says stuff like this but never tries to learn about players from smaller teams

  14. JabezMakaveli

I wouldn’t say nobody is worried about the Warriors and especially the Lakers, but he’s right about the media coverage.

  15. heardemsay97

He’s still mad that the Lakers won in 2020 and Warriors won in 2015/2022 after he was so adamant about them not taking it.

  16. Awanderingleaf

Lakers were in a similar place last season and made the conference finals with an injured Lebron.

  17. -crackhousebob

First Take devotes the first half hour of the show to the Lakers every day. Stephen A even spent 20 minutes talking about Bronny James the other day ffs

  18. Denver would love to play the Warriors or Lakers in the playoffs

  19. classacts99

Nobody is worried about playoff Lebron? They still haven’t leaned after all these years lol

  20. I agree but these 2 teams are also infinitely more interesting than other play-in teams. Sorry but true.

  21. HorsefacePakusa

He’s probably just mad that they made him turn off the hockey game to talk about the NBA

  22. The-Pharcyde

Im taking the team with steph or lebron over the thunder and wolves in a first round series until proven otherwise.
