Wembanyama on why he thinks the ROTY race isn’t over

Part of his post-game interview that was in french so here is the translation for those who are interested:

Q: You were just saying that the [ROTY] race wasn’t yet finished. We, [the media], have the impression that it’s already over; so concretely, what do you think could prevent you from winning the award, according to you?

A: To me, the great players, especially today, when you see Embiid, Shai, Giannis,… They don’t score 30pts, and then 15 and then 20. They score 30 every night. Success in this league is performing during the 82 games, you must have it at every game. They aren’t satisfied of performing only a few times. I’d like to follow their example. Also, I don’t even ask myself the question if this race is over or not, because I want to win games and we have 22 remaining. So I have to keep performing.

I wish they’d add translations for these French questions, half of every post game interview is in French, at least when he’s in San Antonio.

I want him to be the best ever simply because of how bad he wants to be the best ever

pop created wemby in a lab after the ’03 championship then burned the lab down

    get fucked league

The ROTY race is over and Chet Holmgren is ROTY

  5. He’s not being humble, just like he said there are still 20+ games. If he goes back to his first 20 game then chet or the others have a chance.

Honestly though, I think he got this roy almost locked. Chet is efficient and I assume has found his role for okc already, but he’s more a “role player” than a star that wemby is on track of becoming. Wemby is using his alien physique to get those new steal, blocks, and rebounds combination

It was over at the start of the year. ESPN and the NBA has pushed this since the beginning. Thia also happened with LeBron as no one else was going to win it if he had a decent year. Before the downvotes in not saying that Vic isn’t worth it but how many times has a losing team been on national TV so much. Whenever Vic does something unique it’s plastered everywhere. Yet when Chet, B Mills, Podz, Either Thompson twin, or Jamie have done something there isnt that much attention.

Love this guys mentality. Quite the competitive guy.

Could cause some issues for Spurs cause its clear the man is already comparing himself with the best of the league.

It’s because he knows Podziemski is coming for it.

Bro named dropped Shai, I’m not even mad about the loss anymore.

Wemby: *I am not the Messiah*

Media: *Only the true Messiah denies His divinity!*

that answer is precisely why he’s so good. loved watching the competitive fire against us, it’s what makes basketball great

  12. SandyMandy17

I mean it’s true, if he suddenly went back to averaging 16 on 50 ts% for the rest of the season chet would cover ground

    I don’t see that happening

He didn’t even mention future GOAT GG Jackson

Pop’s mad scientist lab created Kawhi first, never forget. Luckily the second iteration was even better, hopefully this one sticks around.
