[Lowe] “LeBron had 51/8/8— and the Warriors were throwing everything at him, Draymond, Iguodala, switches, doubles. I dont say this lightly, and I am 46 so I did not see some of the greats in the 70s and early 80s play— that might be the best basketball game I’ve ever seen anybody play”

from the recent Lowe Post pod, Lowe talking about Lebron’s Game 1 in the 2018 Finals (the JR Smith forgets the score game)

And we still destroyed him hahahahahahah!!!

  2. PutSignificant5928

Yea honestly that game one performance solved world hunger, cured cancer, and stopped a future alien invasion

  3. EntertainmentWarm774

Didn’t Iggy not play in Game 1 of that year’s Finals?

  4. JackDangerUSPIS

Might also be one of the worst few seconds of basketball anybody has ever played by JR

  5. Sartheking

    >Warriors were throwing everything at him, Draymond, Iguodala, switches, doubles.

Huh? Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure Iggy wasn’t in that game because of his injury from the Rockets series.

  6. MitchellMuehl

Yeah I remember him getting to the line over and over

  7. DubsFanAccount

The myth making about this game is wild. It was a great game for sure but people act like JR stole a whole championship.

  8. TiredMillennialDad

LeBron would have 100% hit the game winning three at the end

  9. In some ways it’s pretty unprecedented. Definitely the most lopsided finals matchup ever. Cavs lose the series regardless of JR but I think if Lebron didn’t utterly lose all faith in his teammates after game 1 he coulda pushed it to 6 or something. 2018 Lebron was different, it’s just a shame that it ended like that

  10. When you sulk and your body language as the leader brings the whole camp down when the game was still there to be won that strikes it from the best performance list. Overtime is part of the game.

That game ending made me stop watching basketball for years. LeBron did everything to have it ruined by an idiot teammate. Felt like I was watching the 2000s Cavs again.

I didn’t watch this game since I wasn’t expecting a competitive finals. Just so happened to check the score and i saw his statline and the game was tied. Turned the game on just to catch the ending and OT. I caught a play or two before Klay sent Hill to the line. I was better off not watching it. Witnessed one of the biggest blunders I’ve seen in sports.

Ended up skipping games 2 and 4. Game 3 was a good one.

  13. Thealbumisjustdrums

Refs literally stole that game from LeBron. Even ignored a rule to do so. Will never get over it. Obviously the Warriors still win the series regardless (maybe even in 5 games) but I’ll always be mad he had his best ever game ruined by those crooks.

I think that’s what most impresses me about Lebron and what stands out the most about him: his ability to single handedly carry a team and to make it better. There are other players that can as well, but I don’t think I’ve seen others do it as effectively as he does it.

  15. Unable-Chair7975

The next year the Cavs had (as far as I remember) a pretty similar roster except for losing lebron and they won 19 games. With LeBron they were going toe to toe with the KD warriors.

  16. 1eyed_jack

I don’t know, I remember seeing Jokic beat the Lakers last year when they were throwing Wilt Chamberlain, Shaq, and James Worthy at him. They even tried Elden Campbell at one point.

  17. paddiction

It was his greatest performance, and he gave up after that because he realized he couldn’t beat the Warriors with this team

  18. Baby_Yod4

I’m gonna get downvoted but Lebron can’t have 2 points in OT. Lebron was playing perfect and JR had the worst playoff blunder of all time but you gotta move on. His body language killed all the energy in OT.

  19. bypassmorecomments

Iguodala wasn’t even playing lmao. Lowe is a shameless Bron dick rider.

  20. Critical-Adhole

It was the greatest game of the modern era and I said it at the time too. Funny to see guys like Lowe only start now.

  21. cocrivers

Imo, and this might be unpopular, but Lebron’s 43/14 in game 2 vs the Raptors was the greatest basketball game I’ve seen played. The way he just disrespected the Raptors by settling for midrange fadeaways when he easily could’ve driven to the rim or gotten a higher percentage shot… it was brutal. He broke them down as a passer in the first half, then started piling the disrespect on in the second half by nailing jumper after jumper.

Keep in mind, Cavs were a pretty big underdog in that series after they barely got by the Pacers, and that was the best DeRozan-Lowry Raptors team of the bunch that secured the 1 seed. Cavs swept them…

  22. Glowwerms

I respect LeBron but I can’t say I’ve ever actively rooted for him, I remember watching that game and being in awe, he was single handedly going toe to toe with the best team we’ve seen in the modern era only to be foiled by his own teammate’s stupidity

  23. Last_Foam_Finger

I can confirm that was the greatest basketball game I’ve ever seen anyone play

  24. ThatBigNoodle

I love how lebron has played so long that he’s made it to the era where everyone just appreciates what we’re watching.

  25. Hot_Injury7719

I preface this saying that Jordan is the best player I’ve ever seen play, but I remember watching that Game 1 and thinking it was the best individual game I’ve ever seen. LeBron absolutely dictated the game and how he was gonna play the entire night. It was insane to watch just how in control he was, only to completely lose control because JR is a dumbass.

  26. The actual best LeBron ever played was that game 1 game when Smith didn’t take a shot on a tied game. He just controlled that game against those Durant Warriors.

  27. KnickedUp

That Dub team was so damn good. Bron was nuts that night

  28. ne0scythian

That was an awesome game. What was less awesome was LeBron pouting and quitting for the rest of the series and then blaming getting swept on a “pretty much broken hand” that mysteriously didn’t require surgery.

  29. bathroom_07

Gave up in overtime though. Because of how he acted in OT it can’t be the greatest game ever

  30. alienswillarrive2024

The Cavs the 2 years before Lebron left to Miami were a 66 and 61 win team with a rubbish team, there isn’t a single player in the history of the sport who’s this good of a player, people put too much of an emphasis on rings.

If Lebron didn’t leave the Cavs initially he would have like 1-2 rings and 8-10 mvps, i’d argue that him leaving to go to Miami hurt his career and his legacy.

  31. This is why rings in the GOAT conversation aren’t the be all end all for me. Jordan never played a team like those Warriors. It was bad for the league and bad for the sport.

  32. jaysonman1

If you watched that game yiu would know lebron was literal superman that day

  33. RobotVo1ce

Dude is 46 and pretending like he didn’t see Jordan play in the late 80s/90s??

  34. I’m 48 and I would agree. That was pretty much the pinnacle of superstar play, true one-man-army stuff.

  35. Tigercat92

I still lean Game 6 against the Celtics in 2012 as his most impressive.

  36. justaverage00

That entire eastern conference playoff run is the best I’ve ever seen a player look
