What shes done is AMAZING but Pistol Pete did it in like 84 games. Freshmen didnt play, no 3 pt line and no 24 second clock back then.They say Pistol Pete would have averaged 55 pts per game with a 3 pt line.

Nah….I disagree with this video's title…….she set the Women's NCAA basketball scoring record and didn't break the Men's NCAA basketball scoring record……I really don't think you can compare the two and simply shouldn't in this manner as these records were set under two very different circumstances………Had Maravich been allowed to play against women then he probably would have averaged 70 points a game and she never even comes close or if she plays against men for during her career she comes no where near the NCAA Men's record….you simply can't compare the two records….its not comparable due to the difference in gender and how the game is played between the sexes….
Congats to her but she had the benefit of the 3-point line which didn't exist when Pistol Pete Maravich played! If it had, he would have set a scoring reocrd that NO ONE would have ever challenged!

Pete Maravich played only three seasons and there was no three point shot. Not sure but I think freshman were not allowed to start. Pete Maravich scored another 741 points as a freshman on the junior varsity at LSU. Pete Maravich in death does conseed one thing to Caitlin Clark. He was not as arrogant as she is.
This is ridiculous, and incredibly disrespectful to Pistol Pete. He did it in 3 years, against men, and with no 3-pt. line. You can't be the "all time record holder" when you don't play at the highest level of your sport. Do we say LSU are the '23 NCAA Champs? No, because that would be ridiculous. UCONN are the '23 NCAA Champs because that is the highest level.
It's a fine accomplishment for her, but she wouldn't score in men's D1 bball, so how can she possibly be "college basketball's record holder?" Is my nephew "basketball's all time single game record holder" if he scores 102 points? If someone can't dunk as well, and move the rim to 8ft just for them, and they do better than the 10ft dunkers, are they the actual NBA dunk contest winner? Think of how nonsensical this is.
Stop constantly trying to compare them. They are two different sports. Let her be the women's all-time leading scorer, which is impressive in her sport, and leave it at that. She did not pass Pistol Pete. That's laughable, untrue, and disrespectful.
With those deep skills and no defensive pressure… the sky will get higher for her.

The only woman basketball player I watch
cc played 50% more games than pm (130 vs 83) to reach that point total … but she took less total shots than pm took (19 per game vs 38 per game; 2470 total shots vs 3150 total shots) to reach that total.
Lol, the false modesty as you see her forcing herself to move away from the talk about the record. She’s obviously an all-time great, an unbelievable athlete. But the ick factor with her is major. Feels like one of these people who is seething with hatred inside but is just a master at concealing it.
Haven't been this excited to watch women's basketball since Maya Moore. Caitlin is something special, so fun to watch, she shows such passion for the game. Love it.

Shes a great player and shooter. But Pete Maravich scoring recoerd will never be broken. Not fair to compare. Maravich played when there was no 3 point line if there was he probably would of had over 7000 points. He also achieved his record in 3 years. Scoring records in any sport need to look in the past .
Congrats. She totally deserves the record considering she also had to compete against top defenders like Calvin Murphy and Dean Meminger.

It's great, BUT it took Pistol Pete 3 years and 83 games compared to Clark taking 4 years and 130 games. Had Pistol Pete stayed for his 4th year he would be 2,000 points ahead!
