Group was really able to create separation at the end of the second and the start of the second half what did you like about your group’s effort coming at a halftime to to really put this one away I mean it says a lot about them being prepared uh you have to you
Know give credit so much credit to our coaches uh playing a team four times is not easy uh to win four times um they play hard they they’ve they’ve adjusted some things as they’ve gone on but our ability to sustain our effort uh and continue to play together was something
That I’m very proud of this group and and our coaching staff for how they’re getting these guys prepared for what they’re going to continue to see coach can you talk about marel um still working his way back but led the scoring off your bench so talk about the night
That he had I thought he was great I thought he pushed the pace at the right time uh he was able to get below the defense those guys found him you know for finishing around the basket uh he just kept coming at them and I and I
Thought that was great for him with that with that unit who would you have liked to seen differently from the second unit in the fourth quarter you had to put the starters back in the game for a little bit when Detroit made it 13 points just what would you have like to see
Differently you got to give you know you got to give Detroit a ton of credit for how hard they play you know they’re not going to lay down uh and so that was a product of some of that uh you know we turned it over a few times uh they were
Able to get a bunch of e a couple of easy baskets but again you know that part of it being a game of runs our ability to keep Our poise um find a good action to get into offensively but then being able to string some stops together
Kind of building off that point PA another 29 Point performance how how much of a calming presence is he to have that that that ability to just kind of get the ball to him and and he’ll make something good happen well more than 29 Points was what you just said his Poise
And his ability to create for others and I think that’s one thing that we’ve talked about with him what he registers and recognizes our coaches did an unbelievable job in the film session the other day talking about what he’s creating and and that start you saw that
The other night with those two skip passes to Jay in the corner uh him finding Gary underneath the basket tonight on a cut just little different situations that he’s recognizing and that the guys around him are recognizing so it’s about trust does that feel uncommon for for a player as young as he
Is especially since he has so much responsibility on him for this well he’s continuing to learn and he we’ve said it from the moment he got here is about how much of a winner he is and now he’s finding different ways and recognizing different defenses and knowing how he
Can play that chess game from the beginning of the game and and it says a lot about him his IQ but again I always go back to how hard our coaches work to prepare these guys and these guys were prepared for this tonight prior to the matchup tonight you talked about slowing
Down Kate Cunningham who’s been on a great stretch as of lately you guys held him in check tonight nine points in just under 23 minutes can you just talk about the job you guys did on him defensively tonight I think you know Jaylen started that you know he’s he’s the head of the
Snake for us when he is locked in defensively which he has been uh it’s hard to score on him uh we wanted to to get the ball out of his hands make it tough on him but I I’m going to keep going back to the game plan that our
Coaches put in place I think they do such a tremendous job of getting these guys prepared because it’s not easy to beat a team four times and these guys did the right thing by understanding what that game plan was from the beginning to end Coach I wanted to ask a
Question about some of the X’s and O’s on one of the plays um there was a side out inbounds in the second quarter you asked Gary to go to the Baseline uh Corner near side and uh he came up got the ball at the top of the key ran a
Screen and roll with Wendell Wendell had an N1 and you looked like super like excited with what Gary did on that play and it looked like you just called like kind of the right thing with what you were seeing well no that was Wendell and Gary that’s not coaching that was them
And what this is what we’ve always asked them to do and be so we basically called a single pin down for Gary they recognized what the matchup was if you notice Paulo and Wendell Switched at that moment and the moment that they switched it took the big and brought it
Over to Gary so now the G the big big has to help uphill he dumps it off to Wendell for the and one that’s their communication that’s what that we’ve asked them to do on the Fly because as we get into these tight games it won’t
Be my voice all the time they’re going to have to continue to communicate with one another which is all we’ve asked them to do thank you coach moley thank you guys your group was really able to create separation at the end of the second quarter and at the start of the second
Half what did you like about your group’s ability after halftime to to gain separation and put this one away uh I think we were just really able to get stops uh thought we did a good job playing defense forcing them in tough shots and then not letting them get uh
Many Second Chance opportunities so then the offense just I think uh fed off of that Marco you didn’t miss a shot tonight um just what was working for you and how are you feeling after that feel good obviously man anytime you can go without missing a shot but um
Just going out there playing hard man like I said I’m not not really worried about makes or misses so um there’s other areas that I wish I could have been better at tonight especially with that second unit you know all those turnovers um trying to control that but
In all be all all I care about is the win so um I’m happy we got the win Mar’s obviously been kind of an up and down season for season for you healthwise having you know have coming out of the All-Star break do you do you feel freser
Seems like the the dumers got a little bit more lift on it see seems like you’re kind of finding finding that Groove again definitely just you know managing every day you know whether that’s recovery whether that’s working out whether that’s um sleep you know just trying to maintain you know around this
Time everybody kind of gets you know a little tired trying to push through so uh just trying to find that groove of doing what works and sticking with it come last three games is that something that matters to you no I don’t care all I care about is helping this team win
Any way that I can do that if I’m on the bench you know cheering my guys on bringing them water if I’m in the game playing as hard as I can but um I don’t really care about that man I care about winning in any way possible Paulo uh per magic PR you’re
One of only four players in the last 40 years to average 26 and four uh with Michael Jordan LeBron James and Luka donic you hit those numbers again tonight what does that mean to you to kind of be grouped with those guys and and do the things you’re doing at 21
Years old um I mean yeah when you say that with those names it is kind of crazy hearing that but I think just one just when I first got here just wanted to just win I think that was the biggest part doing whatever it takes to win um
And just you know playing having fun with these guys you know they always encouraging me to you know be aggressive do me you know and so when I hear that you know I’m always on go so just always you know trying to play play my game and
Do whatever it takes to win I think it’s been my my uh biggest um thing these first two years this question is for either of you uh last season 34 wins tonight 35th win of the Season what does that mean for this what does that Milestone mean for this
Group I think it’s big but um we got a bigger picture you know we kind of talked about it a little bit today about staying locked in you know and our expectations you know so again I think we just got to continue to take it one
Game at a time and um we’re going to be good you know I think we have a really good team everybody has the same mindset everybody’s locked into winning everybody wants to win so so um we definitely are are are aware of it but uh we have bigger goals within our our
Team and within you know higher standards for oursel Paulo uh coach has talked a lot about this team’s Poise o over the over these over these games you know being able to extend the lead out in the third quarter coming back you know coming back in with 13-point lead and extending it
Sending it back out to finish the game where where does where does this team and where does where does your Poise come from to kind of thrive in these moments yeah I think the biggest thing uh is that we can count on each other you know um Joe Joe right before I came
Here was joking around told me make sure to tell y’all that you know uh the bench the bench we we gave the bench a break this time instead of us the other way around so like us being able to count on them you know when we’re not playing as
Well to lift us up and you know take a lead or bring us back and then you know today same opposite you know we you know they might have came out slow and then we’re you know they counted on us to come back and and build that lead back
Up so just having that trust in you know throughout the whole team you know whether it’s the starting group The Bench group like you know we all trust each other and trust that you know we can all go out there and and win the game you know for this team so I think
That’s where it starts this is a question for both you guys U how important is it to kind of build a full head of steam and be you know pretty much completely healthy as you you know make your way down the stretch run and and into the playoffs here like that’s
Got to be super important just to build momentum and right like kind of get those habits going down the stretch uh I think it’s huge for us um especially you know with our schedule being able to play home a lot I think it’s going to be good for us just to F
What that’s like to be at home you know build a win streak um try to continue to take one game at a time but for everyone to be healthy and just keep building that chemistry going the playoff is going to be huge you know cuz in the playoffs every possession matters you
Know you got to know your teammate better than uh anything so um for us just continue taking one game at a time continue building continue getting better I think the sky’s is the limit thanks guys
