And we we played against physical teams all year and we’ve handled it better than we did tonight um but in the first half um defensively we were okay we forced them to play into late clock situations they got to an ISO ball or a late pick and roll and they just cut us

You know we’ve been saying the same thing all year against this team you got to defend the cuts the cuts just killed us in the first half we calculated it was at least 10 points and we were down nine um after not shooting the ball um

Well at all we were only down nine after all those cuts um but defensively to their credit their defense was really physical did we get filed some yeah but the physical teams that are consistently um putting forth that identity typically get the benefit of the doubt because they play a certain

Way every night and so I I didn’t think we handled that well at all um the physicality and and and not getting a call that we thought we should we spent too much time talking to the referees and I addressed that with the guys just now it’s taken away from how

We can play and how competitive we can be the second group came in and they just play competitive basketball got the lead to 13 that’s what a bench should do and kudos to them because they they didn’t do it that well um in the last game I thought tonight they played the

Way we wanted them to did you like the shots you were get qu uh I got to look at the film on the ey test I didn’t I didn’t mind them it wasn’t like we were just jacking up shots off the dribble we got a lot of

Open looks tonight we just couldn’t make a shot um and that’s happened a few times this year um we we typically generate uh good shots the shots that may bother me is when teams go under on us early in the clock and we just jack

Up a three off of one pass you’re not making that team work you got got to make them work you can get that shot anytime so you got to make them work and this is a part of our growth understanding against a physical team you’re going to have to move them around

And we got to be that physical and we have been we just weren’t tonight go back to the cuts you kind of mentioned this as something that’s happened against this team before but is it is it just like a lack of attention to detail knowing like you said you know

They should know what’s coming but is it late in the shot clock and people just get caught ball watching oh character right I think so I mean it it boils down to me teaching it better that’s what it is I mean I have to do a better job of

Allowing or helping our guys understand that once you play good defense for 12 seconds sometimes 15 seconds now that guy’s got to guard the ball and you got to defend the cut it’s just that simple and I I haven’t had our guys ready um two of the four games we played them

Three um he gave us some physicality in the paint um we we just didn’t shoot the ball well as a team to to Really punish them for how they were playing Us in pick and roll um but I I like the the ability to go back and forth um cuz Tech

Can guard you know he’s not afraid to guard guys like B Caro uh palalo is a really good player so you’re going to have to have a guy that can compete and fight against a guy like that and so the ability to bring Tech in and take Stewie out and then bring

Stewie back um is something that we’re going to look at and that doesn’t mean wise is out of it um because you you need need three bigs in this league to to be effective so I like the juice that he brought when he got into the game but

We’re going to look at different combinations uh to try to generate some more efficiency we just couldn’t knock down a shot um in the first half I mean the team has a getting back under probably I mean he’s been out for you know a week or so

And he hasn’t really he hadn’t played five on five that was the first time he played that level of five on five when you’re scripting against the coaches I mean anybody can you know do that uh but but we didn’t shoot the ball well I me we generated some decent Shots tonight

We just didn’t knock them down and um give them credit they rebounded and they got out and and did what they do I I thought it was a there was some contact down there but I I keep telling our guys you can’t look for fouls you can’t

Look you got to play through all that this is the third team I’ve coached that’s been young and and um concern themselves with that and until you overcome that mentality of you know somebody bailing you out you’re going to be in this position I just told the team

That there was a lot of physicality down there did I think he got filed a few times yep I could see it um I’m not one to complain about stuff for no reason I have great respect for the referee so I saw fouls but that’s not how you win games you win

Games with great execution and competition consistently and we we have to do that we have to overcome if you ask Mel Bridges and Devin Booker and Anthony Davis and Drew holiday when they were young and I coached them I told them the same thing you’re not going to have an

Officials group bail you out it’s just not the way it is and when we focused on the game and competed we look much better
