How The Miami Heat Have Been ROBBING The NBA For Years
If there’s one NBA team that over the past few decades seem to constantly exceed expectations that’s the Miami Heat their level of overachievement has been occurring for some time and there’s a very simple explanation for it the heat simply have a different standard for their players than most NBA teams do
When players join the team they’re fined if their body fat is over 10% summers are not meant for time off players are expected to continue working on their craft vigorously in the offseason staff players are often seen arguing and even getting physical and this intensity is
What the culture has created it’s led to multiple players having the trajectory of their careers vastly altered for the better after joining the team certain guys go on to sign incredible deals that prior to joining Miami would have never been seen as possible and other players
Go on to sign with different teams and continue with that same mindset as their careers keep surging however what’s actually been much more common is that once players leave leave the Miami Heat the standard for their work ethic lowers significantly and these players who had just stunned the NBA with their sudden
Breakout vastly underperform what we had become accustomed to resulting in their new teams being left utterly confused about what happened to their new player this list of players is surprisingly long which goes to show that the Miami Heat have been robbing NBA teams for years back in 2016 Tyler Johnson had
Emerged as one of the NBA’s best undrafted players and an inspiring story for basketball fans after 4 years playing at little Fresno State and being drafted not by the NBA but by the NBA G League Johnson would impress Miami and signed a few 10-day contracts with the
Team where he performed good enough to sign a small 2-year deal expected for an undrafted player but as a third-year guard for Miami the 24-year-old Johnson would average 14 points and three assists on pretty good shooting not amazing numbers but Johnson was young athletic and a Do-it all player that
Checked basically every box you needed out of a young point guard for such a young player Johnson’s Main Attraction in Miami was his demeanor to join a Heat team that had just left the big three arrow with LeBron and play with the sort of confidence and belonging he did left
A good impression on the heat front office so Miami invested heavily into Johnson once his first deal was over signing him to a 4-year deal worth $50 million the contract that at the time was questioned but many believed was deserved given his upside because it was actually Brooklyn who attempted to sign
Johnson first as they thought with his own team the young guard might blossom into a star but Miami had the same thoughts and would match the Net’s offer and Johnson would return to the heat however due to restrictions on his contract Tyler would only make 5 million
Per year in the first two seasons of his new 4-year deal meaning he wasn’t getting paid a lot of money in the first half of his contract and throughout that time Johnson didn’t really improve instead his production stagnated so the heat caught on before it was too late
And eventually traded Johnson to the Phoenix Suns Midway into his third season in order to avoid paying him 20 million per season they didn’t get much in return but not paying Tyler 20 million a year was the reward they got from making that deal and the sons
Thought they might be getting a still young player who could break out with a better opportunity in Phoenix instead Tyler would shoot 37% from the floor in his first year with the team and in his second year he would score six points in 17 minutes per game Tyler Johnson would
Only play 14 more NBA games after leaving the Phoenix Suns and was out of the NBA by the age of 29 it seems like everything went downhill for Tyler Johnson immediately after leaving Miami and as we’re going to see he was far from the only one now getting to a few
Recent examples of breakout Heat players whose careers completely descended after after leaving the team we have Kendrick nun and Gabe Vincent and beginning with nun who was an undrafted player out of Oakland whose NBA career didn’t begin until he was 24 years old and that was
Because in college he played 3 years for Illinois where he was a great player but he played guilty to a pretty major charge and was dismissed from the team entirely and that was quite unfortunate because none was likely on his way to becoming an NBA player the easy way
Through the draft an efficient point guard that could score in play make at a high level would at least be taken off the board on draft night but due to his charge many thought nun’s career was over but he became College basketball’s second leading scorer in his senior year
At his new school in Oakland albeit now playing for a pretty uncompetitive program and due to his Troublesome past in age at 23 nun went undrafted in 2018 and then played a season for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the g- league but he eventually earned enough Buzz to sign a
Contract with none other than the Miami Heat this is is where everything took off for none the point guard was so good for the team that as a rookie they started him ahead of Goran dragic who was an All-Star 2 years earlier nun’s efficient scoring and reliable playmaking translated very well to the
NBA to start out and he was rewarded by being named to the all rookie first team throughout his time in Miami nun would average an impressive 15 points and three assists on great shooting for a young player and that was incredible production for an undrafted guy however
When Miami made the move to get Kyle Lowry a player they thought at the time would put them over the hump and help them win a championship they allowed the Los Angeles Lakers to sign Kendrick nun for what La thought was a steal 2 years and $10 million quite cheap for a proven
Young player that should become a quality starter however nun didn’t play a single game for the Lakers in his first year with the team as he dealt with a knee injury and when he finally recovered he was nowhere close to what he was before as his production all across the board diminished almost
Entirely to the point where he’s now playing in the Euro league for panithan iOS just a few years later and he is playing quite well there but he’s not in the NBA something nobody could have expected during his rookie year for the Miami Heat where he looked like a
Potential future star now Gabe Vincent never quite looked like a future star but after nun left Miami Vincent would go on to take Kyle Lowry’s job as the starting point guard for the team Gabe Vincent was a no-name four-year college player for UC Santa Barbara who earned only one pre-draft workout with the
Sacramento Kings before the 2018 NBA draft he didn’t get picked or signed by any team rather he played two seasons in the g-league for the Stockton Kings where he shot a very high percentage from three with impressive volume during which the Miami he took notice and
Decided to give Vincent a shot with a two-way contract and while it took some time Vincent would eventually become a part-time starter for the Miami Heat in year three with the team he proved to be a very solid NBA level point guard who passed the ball well was shot well from
Three and played with a lot of intensity whenever his name was called and he became so reliable that by the 2023 playoffs he earned the full-time starting point guard job for the heat over Kyle Lowry and was a massive part of why the Miami Heat made it all the
Way to the finals and Vincent surge led to a lot of interest for many teams around the NBA in the summer following ultimately it was the LA Lakers yet again who were looking for a reliable true point guard and fell for the same trick giving Vincent a very generous
Deal signing him for 3 years and $33 million but just like what happened with nun it’s looking like Vincent’s value may have been highly overestimated Vincent has only played in five games so far for the Lakers as he sat out most of the Season recovering from knee surgery
But in those games he hasn’t looked like his former self and while you can’t say anything for certain so early on players like him whose careers took off playing for the Miami Heat tell us that chances aren’t looking too good good heading back to 2016 Dion Waiters was almost
Universally viewed as an NBA draft bust he was taken forth by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2012 NBA draft and was a solid scorer early on with Cleveland but he was still quite inconsistent as a score and very uninvolved on defense and when things weren’t being run through
Him so despite being a 16p point per game scorer in year two typically a good threshold for a sophomore Cleveland traded him to the OKC Thunder Midway into his third NBA Seas season but at this point he was a bench player and he played like one scoring 11 points per
Game on under 40% shooting during his stint in OKC teams weren’t very high on waiters at this point but Pat Riley in the Miami Heat gave Dion one final chance to turn around his career under one condition the man had to get into nothing else but world class shape so
After signing with the heat in Late July 2016 Dion Waiters cut 5% in body fat by the beginning of the 2017 season which was very noticeable in his before and after picture Dion would then go on to have a career year scoring 16 points per game and a career-high of both four
Assists and 40% from three and For That season Dion Waiters began to look like the kind of player Scouts told everybody he could be back in 2012 all he needed was to take his game seriously and the star future would undeniably come however after a couple of injuries and
His time away from the court leading to a few distractions waiters began to disassociate with the Miami Heat culture his time away from playing brought him back to his old self he was still okay when he returned but not nearly the same player he was in his first year with the
Team so Miami traded him before his reputation was completely ruined and the team did bring back Jay Crowder in return who became a quality starter on Miami’s finals team in 2020 but as for Dion Waiters he would only play seven more NBA games after leaving the Miami
Heat and would become a prime example of a great talent who needed to apply himself to become a great player in Miami he had that chance and there were plenty of flashes but that was all gone once he left the team as he was out of
The NBA by the time he should have been in his prime at age 28 for some time Hassan whitside appeared to be on his way to becoming one of the greatest Cinderella Stories the NBA had ever seen whide was a second round pick in the 2010 NBA draft an athletic 7-footer with
A 7′ s wingspan who blocked over five shots per game in college while he wasn’t that good in college the floor was still seen as quite high for him but after the Kings drafted him in 2010 is Sacramento rarely got to see their new Big Man In Action he missed most of his
Rookie year as he was hurt and when he recovered he was relegated to the g-league where many of his weaknesses were exposed including his lack of any sort of Polish as an offensive player Hassan made 37% of his free throws in the G League leaving an impression for
The kings that he wasn’t ready for the NBA but what they didn’t consider was that what whide could provide right out the gates would translate very well to the NBA he averaged 6.5 blocks per 36 during his time in the G league but he never got to prove his worth as he only
Played a total of 110 minutes on an NBA court throughout his stint in Sacramento and just a few years in Whiteside would be waved by the team and his career as an international journeyman would begin eventually finding his way over to China but the mind heat kept an eye on Whit
Side throughout his time playing abroad eventually signing him to a minimum deal the heat gave Hassan his first ever opportunity to play real NBA minutes and pushed him to become the player they knew he could be and in his 11th game against the Brooklyn Nets he played
Above 20 minutes marking the first time in his NBA career and in that game he would put up 11 points 10 rebounds and five blocks an incredible statline for any NBA big man much less one that no NBA team wanted it just a year ago whide
Would go on to average a double double with 12 points 10 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in only 24 minutes of play in his first year with the team in his second year Hanan would lead that NBA in blocks with almost four a game and whide was rewarded with a Max contract worth $98
Million over 4 years at the time this was obviously a big payday but Hassan’s Elite defensive impact was viewed as being more than worth the deal but but what felt like immediately after signing this contract everything seemed to go downhill for Hassan whide the ones energetic and hungry big man’s career
Appeared to settle once he had been paid after a massive surge in production since Miami first signed him Hassan stagnated and over the years his game began to diminish although he continued to block an impressive amount of shots otherwise his defense was beginning to drift towards being below average for a
Center and his effort overall decreased drastically eventually the heat had no more patience for Hanan Whiteside the once’s passion fill Center had no more of it after getting his huge payday so he was dealt to the Trailblazers in a four team trade that landed the heat Jimmy Butler and the Blazers thought
They might be getting a defensive stud who would become the big man pairing Damen Lillard needed to make a deep playoff push instead Portland realized that Hassan’s box score stats weren’t helping the team win and in many cases it was the direct opposite the Blazers wouldn’t sign him after the season and
Whiteside would go on to sign year-long deals with the Kings and the Jazz but he was at this point a backup center and ultimately a player that nobody really wanted as he was out of the NBA by the age of 32 just 3 years after his Miami
Days were over in the case of Assan whide the Miami Heat tricked themselves they gave a Max contract to a player whose impact depended on a tremendous amount of effort and that waned heavily after they signed him to his big deal and every other team is signed would
Join after leaving the team would be left extremely disappointed in all the list of players over the past couple decades who either began their careers with the Miami Heat and drastically fell off after leaving or had a late search in their careers after having joined the
Team is a bit too extensive for one video and not every story is as fascinating as the ones we discussed in this video but what that goes to show is that for all the flak the Miami Heat received for creating their own culture of hard work and discipline it is
Absolutely alive and well and can truly make a nobody a good NBA player and a on draft bust no longer a bust but that’s all I got for you guys in your opinion is the Miami Heat culture a real thing do the Miami Heat really have a way of
Helping players meet their potential or is this all a coincidence thank you all for watching hope you all enjoyed and I’ll catch you all in the next one

Heat culture is real. But those jerseys are still ugly
Man youre Videos are so nice, lets make a great come Back
Best undrafted Player ist Johansen you Said… But
Isnt Austin reaves already the best undrafted Player?
The Miami Heat have a Grand Elder Guru Namekian that unlocks their players potential.
I hear you, but I hate this narrative. It's true that ex-Heat players are not as good outside the Heat system BUT that's not a reason not to trade with the Heat. I propose other teams watch and learn AND understand that Spo is Him while their coach simply is not.
Not to mention how Pat and Andy are masterminds. Pat is just that guy, maybe a little older and not the same. But still…it’s Pat Riley. Not to mention Andy Elisburg is probably the most under appreciated executive in the NBA. That man is a genius. I think Spo is next in line to be the GM in place of Pat. Spo and Andy will take the reigns and continue the culture.
