Celtics crush Warriors, Story more about Boston or Golden State? | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Head Up To Boston where the Celtics embarrass the Warriors first quarter ended on 23 to1 run they were up 44 at half and at one point they were up by 56 after the game they uh said they had a good strategy of not guarding Jaylen Brown to which Jaylen Brown said good

Idea on Twitter so Brew is this story more about Golden State or Boston I I I think it’s about Boston and obviously 52 points is an aberration winning by 52 not really theyve keep doing it well I mean today’s NBA you see a ton of blowouts because if one team’s hot from

Three if the other’s cold from three it can just get out of hand but the Boston is the story because that’s where the entry I just think this the Warriors are at best a pretty good team like they’re they’re not I I know they went on a

Recent streak they won eight straight on the road and they’ve been playing well but so the Lakers have been playing well too but they’re still in ninth and 10th in the west like I I don’t think the Warriors are legitimate contenders anymore I hate to say it I hope I’m

Wrong because I’d love to see Stephanos guys make another run but I don’t see that coming Boston’s a story because it is are they this good they’ve won 11 straight games Miami they’ve beaten three three times out of three games this season they beat Dallas up they

Beat Golden say this is within their 11 game win streak they’re number one in the league in offense they’re number two in the league in defense they protect the rim they’re in the league in Block shots they got two great perimeter defenders in Derek white and Drew

Holiday the one thing they lead the league in three-point well they’re top five in three-point percentage but this is the one thing that I question about the Celtics do they rely too much on the three ball they right they shoot more threes than any other team all right and

They don’t get to the free throw line they’re like bottom 10 in the league or close to that in free throw attempts and when when the floor is that spread out and you got a guy like Jason Tatum not to mention Jaylen Brown who we know can

Get to the rim you should be getting to the free throw line more so that my question is about Boston they intrigue me because I want to see are they really this good um quickly Nick this is the you know I’m a point differential guy yeah sure yeah you’re typically just a

Wins guy but sometimes I’m also winning by a lot guy not okay sure yeah I’ll roll with it uh five teams uh here with the point differential of 11 above four of them won the title does this do anything for you the well yeah I mean

This in this regard I I think it’s clearly more about Boston the the Warriors are listen the Warriors are what they’ve been all year a round one ciling team their ceiling is getting whacked in round one and I think they probably don’t make it I don’t think

They’re I the get beaten to play yes I do really yeah I do Ian we’ve seen before the Lakers yeah we’ve seen them get whacked by Lebron in the playing before like I and if it’s not them they could play Phoenix they play Dallas we’ll see if one of those other teams

Dropped down but to me the story is Boston because Boston is if I may you know steal a phrase from Brew laab oh yeah and they they they are they are a half dozen games clear of the field in the standings East or West they have at to your point an alltime Point

Differential they have the clearly the best starting lineup in basketball like for one through five they’re their Fifth Fifth best guy in their starting lineup is right now Drew holiday like that’s pretty un he was the second best player on a champion a couple years ago so if

They don’t win the title this year and I I mean win the title not make the finals and lose if they don’t win the title this year then they’re going to make a significant change and so but right now it’s clear failure if they don’t win the champ 100%

The Boston Celtics blew out the Golden State Warriors 140-88, leading Stephen Curry to say “that’s what we used to do to teams”. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes discuss whether the Warriors or the Celtics are the biggest story following the blowout.

  1. Can’t help but be negative about the Celtics.

    Win by 50 points? Negativity

Win 11 straight in historic fashion? Negativity

    It is what it is

  2. I like when analysts talk about the NBA like there is more than one possible champion each year. Sure, the Celtics have the odds, but the playoffs are a different beast. lol It wouldn't be a failure, where they have to dismantle the team if they get outplayed by another team in the playoffs. Now if they self sabotage and crumble, you can make an argument. But we give teams such short shelf life these days and I just find it so odd. The Celtics can lose the chip this year, and still come back next season with as good of odds as any other top team. The hyperbole and insane expectations we have for teams is unfair. Only one team can win each season. And talent is for sure one of the biggest factors, but there are SO many factors beyond just talent that determine who wins the chip in the playoffs.

  3. Watch the games….the Cs haven't taken a lot less 3s the last few weeks which is what they need to do.

  4. The Celtics have had rough shooting nights from three and went straight to driving towards the basket which is the opposite of what they were doing previous years. They will be fine

  5. The Celtics are the only great team in the east this year…

Which is why it is going to be extra funny when Miami beats them in 6.
