DC For Three: Brandon Miller and Nick Smith Jr. shoot around with Dell Curry

Hurry for Three Fires to Curry shot at the buzzer go for win hello I’m D Curry welcome to another edition of DC for three I’m joined by two the Hornets rookies Nick Smith Jr 27th picking the draft Brandon Miller number two picking the draft fellas probably the best shooters that I’ve had

Don’t telling your teammates yet we’re just going to talk shoot some threes and talk Hoops as we do it all right both you guys one and done in college was that your goal going into college or what what went into making your decision to go one and done I think one and done

Kind of came during the season uh not really going in hey I’m going to be one and done I think it kind of um developed during the season so as the season kept going it was just getting better nick uh I knew knew he knew it I say I say it

The probably probably the process started you know when I first got to uh campus cuz that was always the goal and um you know I made that very clear in high school you know when I went on my recruiting so you know I felt like that

Was the best plan for me and um you know I wanted the college experience as a kid so you know I went with Arkansas by the way we call him nsj we got some Knicks we got some Smiths NJ let’s shoot let’s shoot one see if the old man still still

Got it okay okay all right they hot I I think it’s really cool you guys got to play on the same AU team mhm what was that call like when you found out you were going to be on the same team in the NBA I was lit I

Was in the back I’m like oh we’re going to Hornets so we in Char together let’s get it proud my man right here U kind of grew up together um just seeing him accomplish all his goals and dreams come true it’s kind of you know a blessing it

Was kind of surreal because uh you know we played on the same a team then we played each other in college then the NBA it was like we F to play on the same team and it was crazy because we already know how that can get you know when we

On Flor at the same time who got the best of who a you and college I don’t know cuz in college we have the same stats exact literally ex same stats but all right let’s try to make one more okay there we go there we go there

We go all right next spot here we go you guys come from competitive families your dad played football mom ran track your dad played college football my boys a competitive families is that or your household competitors I know board games we we were just as competitive no matter what what it was I

Think growing up as a kid just always outside um competing with my brother and sister it’s kind of like you never want to lose to you know your older sibling know you’re going to hear about it for right two weeks growing up around my dad um I was always around a game of

Basketball and I was always around older guys so you know when I go outside or go play basketball you know in the neighborhood or go down the street go uh to the community center I was always playing with older guys so I feel like that’s you know help me in a sense

Because you know I’m young I’m still young now so I’m 19 so I don’t really feel any any discomfort of playing against you know older guys at all so I mean I’m kind of just used to it so you I feel like that’s where just the competitiveness came from I remember

Having that NBA moment I was in the game Dr J was my idol I’m guarding Dr J I’m like oh I’m in the NBA what was that moment you guys have a moment like that I I didn’t play against my guy but you know of course PG my guy I didn’t play

That game but um I was definitely on the bench watching they come here they come here you got I’m be ready for him when we get here I say Brad Brad bill yeah yeah yeah Brad bill for guy all right they got to come here too so you got a

Couple more shots all right let’s make one oh miss there it is oh it’s put online Brand number two pick you going play in the in the rising stars game how’ that make you feel I’m going to go out there you know put on for the home

Team you know Charlotte Hornets and you know my city of course I think just going out there having fun and you know just taking you know every moment where I can as a rookie you’re playing 30 minutes a game do you like that or you think it’s going to help you obviously

It’s going to give you experience faster definitely uh I think like you said just experience playing 30 minutes against you know the greatest guys in the world so um I feel like if I can compete 30 minutes with them I can compete with anybody in the country and SJ come off

The bench I was a bench player six man a year I know how it is how difficult it is to come off the bench but you one of the best three-point Shooters as a rookie what was the transition you probably never come off the bench in

Your life you come here you come off the bench how was that transition it’s been it’s been tough but easy at the same time because you know you know just coming off the bench you know that kicks in and you want to play the game that you love just playing against the best

Players in the world butterflies start to come in your uh come in your stomach so you know I was always ready um just ready for my name to be called and you know just try to you know learn as much as I can and you know just try to help

The team win let’s hit one more side side three defense shifted boom Oh I found something oh that might be good that might be good right there we talked about same a team is there anything that you can bring from your a team to when you’re playing on

The court um I know Nick is going to bring you know 110% every night if I tell him to go guard the best player he’s definitely he’s on it well like you said just the competitiveness I feel like us being young us being hungry double team Corner three by

I might mess I miss this one you don’t like this one I lied actually I lied you know I’m a quarter shooter you guys played one college year what’s the toughest part about the league so far in your rookie year I say the toughest part is probably probably

Travel and um just knowing what you’re doing and how you’re doing it each game because you know every team is different every team got their own little stuff going on I mean it’s kind of like the same but you know everybody got their you know got that got they got their

People and you know you got to you know figure out a way to win yep yeah just learning new terms new plays um schemes um you know guarding you have to guard Kevin Durant one night Tatum the next night talking about that game routines do one do you have a game routine for

Home and road or do are they different and and what are they and J take a nap on a bus well if I’m at home if like when I’m eating I’m GNA get salmon and grits or if I’m like at the hotel Cheesecake Factory there you go for sure hey guys I

Appreciate you foundation of the Hornets we thank you for hanging out with us and good luck the rest of the rest of the year rest of your career appreciate it all right thanks for joining Us

  1. Nick Smith Jr. could never play for the Miami Heat. You think Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley gonna let him eat at the Cheesecake Factory during the regular season or playoffs. Per Miami Heat requirements all Heat players are only able to have like 13% or less Bodyfat on them during the season. They get checked every week by the team.

  2. We are lucky to draft these guys and you can tell they love the game of basketball. The future looks bright in Charlotte
