Downtown Salt Lake City on a Monday night the Wizards in to to take on the hometown Utah [Applause] [Applause] Jazz and Clarkson rightly so rebounds the last shot in Utah hands Washington their 15th consecutive loss Jordan Clarkson I’m down here to take uh Holly Rose’s job for a minute and you probably know why uh a couple of times we had a conversation and I told you to go get it

Tonight you broke the Jazz alltime record for 30-point games off the bench and you did it in front of your home fans and you know whose record you broke right yeah my man right here the guy hey congratulations man um how nice was this win I know you guys had a tough road

Trip but how nice was it to come back in front of your own fans and and get this one well it feels great just to get another win especially here at home uh young guys playing well learning quick uh you know we put a lot on on the

Defense end they scored a lot of points early uh we got towards the end and kept scoring but you know we definitely wanted to come back home to Utah get a win and show love always well you know with with guys being out key guys being

Out I I really enjoyed the lineups that were out there talk about uh Taylor Hendrick Bryce Sall uh I know Keon wasn’t feeling well but he came in and and showed up early talk about those young guys and how quickly they’ve caught up to help this Jazz team uh

They’re doing a great job learning asking questions uh biggest thing is they all got confidence uh you see Taylor uh stepping into shots knocking him in and defensively he does what he does and then Bryce on that end uh he’s moving well defensively and knocking

Down shots for us too and then keante is keante you know he didn’t feel well today came out here tried to uh rev it up for us and uh you know come come ready to play but um he’s doing a great job of controlling the team last game he

Had a really good game in Miami so um all these guys making making big stdes and uh we can’t wait to to see him keep uh progressing it was a A Tail of two halves defensively for us um the first half you know we did a really poor job

Guarding the ball and protecting the paint um gave up 30 paint points in the first half we gave up way too many of those paint points to pick and roll ball handlers like there’s no reason for us to let the person with the ball um get

All the way to the basket that’s not how we’re trying to defend I thought the team obviously made a great adjustment at halftime um we looked at a few do things as a group and you know we were able to give up 12 paint points the entire second half um you know

Transition Washington plays incredibly fast I thought the fourth quarter obviously giving up zero transition points was massive but overall the game for us really came down to our ability to protect the paint as a group in the second half um offensively you know I feel like the team continues to try to

Move the ball and play together um you know 29 assists tonight obviously Jordan had a a big night for us um you know with 38 points I’m honestly more proud of his 10 rebounds than his 38 points if I’m being very honest with you guys Colin had a great night as well I

Thought Jon’s activity all night continuing to be relentless on the glass even the ones he didn’t get um was fantastic for us so it’s a you know a good team win um clearly some injuries that happened during the game um Keon goes out Taylor goes out we’re going to

You know check on their status after the game and see how they respond tomorrow um so we ended up having a lot of lineups out there that maybe no one in this room myself included had imagined um until we were put in that situation

So um you know credit to the team I I also do want to shout out Johnny juang um I thought he played 20 like Rock Solid minutes I know you guys have played in arenas against non-playoff teams that have been pretty empty um does this crowd ever surprise you no at

This point no um I don’t know how many straight sellouts it is now it was 270 something last time I 281 now 281 282 still gone I mean it’s not surprising I’m just sad we couldn’t get them free chicken tonight honestly great dispersion great great ball movement 29 assists on the night a

Lot of good things happen in this ball game and it was close it was close to the final four minutes yeah lead CH went back and forth the Jazz pulled away uh at the end love breaking down plays with Mike Smith even better when the Jazz win

Mike you got three plays for us let’s do it I do okay first play uh is kind of a secondary break play and what I want you to watch is the spacing of not the guys who are the protagonist the two protagonists will be seon on a kick

Ahead and then John Collins but I want you to watch the run to this corner and what Chris Dunn does so go ahead and run it I might stop it one more time go ahead and stop it right there the fact that sensah is in that corner and Dunn’s

Going to bust to that corner creates this space now Collin’s got to beat a couple of guys right and Washington seems like they’re back this is secondary break kusma should be there he should be a step there here’s your one guy that’s got a guard to once he beats

This guy because of the space go ahead and he reacts then Collins does the right thing see where Chris Dunn got to in one second he got from there to there which just made everybody worried okay now great defense here by the Jazz so before you run look at the position of

Everybody they’re all aware of the ball yeah they’re going to recover to their guys but even Sensa is off his guy because this guy’s looking at the hoop here’s Clarkson in great help then TC does a great job so go ahead and run it kbur gets in trouble go ahead run that

Look at the defense stop now you get the steal okay go ahead it’s all good from here pause it beautiful like Washington is back you could have kicked it to the corner guys are busting their tail and it’s just a great job by Chris Dunn who I think is

The best guard defender in the league un doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves for that and for his passing kicks it to sens a ball and Bryce can score go ahead this is not an easy layup with traffic left hand and continue with the Sens of theme we’re going to show

You one more so not a play that’s really happening not not a lot going on but Jordan’s going to kick it the Sens and you can just tell he knows he’s open so when we run this he’s got it the three but he doesn’t settle for that three so

Go ahead spacing is good you’re seven going to give him a screen but then get out and he just takes over like that’s a play he would have made in high school and college and it’s a play you’re going to see him make many many times in a

Purple uniform or a black and white and yellow uniform the kid can really score all right did Jazz get the win tonight you just heard head coach will hardy talking about he said I got a shout out Johnny juang well let’s hear from Johnny in the locker room right

Now Johnny a back and fourth game until the final few minutes where you were actually able to keep the Wizards scoreless in the last five minutes how did you guys do it um well I think we played some great defense and we’re very together and then I mean obviously JC

Just put on a show so uh it’s a lot of fun out there but definitely connected and and just you know listen to coach and play hard you know coach praised you in your contributions tonight how did you feel out there uh it was awesome to

Be out there um you know obviously he trusted me to keep me in um to finish the game so I obviously love being in those moments um so great opportunity and I mean look you know they’ve been developing me and so obv a great program

So to get out there and you know feel that core a little bit uh play with these guys who you know a lot of them I’ve been knowing for a little bit of time now um it’s a lot of fun you see Colin’s dunk oh yeah yeah
