How The LA Clippers Collapsed Yet Again In The 4th Quarter
What looked like a second straight win or actually a third straight win for the Clippers ended up being another fourth quarter lapse that reminded me of the Laker game through three quarters right there hadn’t fully closed the door though and Milwaukee without Giannis and Chris Middleton hit the Clippers with a
Run that would cause them to lose one of their wor probably one of their worst losses of the season going to be talking about it all on today’s locked on Clippers you are locked on Clippers your daily Los Angeles Clippers podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every Day yes sir you are locking in with the clips thank you for making locked on Clippers the first listen of your day your team every day I’m your host Darien vizeri born and raised in LA and in my 19th season as a Clipper fan you can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram

Your biggest takeaways from this game what was your biggest reason as to why the Clippers collapsed yet again and we’re going to be talking about all that how much accountability and blame the Stars should have everybody else tyou and the decisions that we made at the
End of the game CU this one should have been a sure thing really should have without Giannis and Chris Middleton before we start talking about it this episode is brought to you by FanDuel America’s number one sports book just visit fanduel.com lockon and shoot your shot all right let’s talk about this one
Second night of a backto back going into this game we had actually won four straight on the second night of backto backs and we had the news before the game just a couple of hours before the game that Giannis was warming up and he didn’t feel very good he was out with
Achilles tendonitis apparently so get well soon yanis but the second I heard that I was like we got to get this done we got to win this game make it two out of two and what was supposed to be the toughest backto back maybe of our entire
Season playing at Minnesota and then at Milwaukee on consecutive nights and We Come Away with two wins and it did not end up being like that but it it wasn’t a terrible start and I thought one thing that was interesting about this game was that the starters were all guarding each other
Um Paul George was guarding Malik Beasley and vice versa and and Brook Lopez and aat zubot you had Terrence man and Damen Lillard then Patrick Beverly and James Harden and then who am I forgetting oh Kawai of course Kawai and Jay Crowder Patrick Beverly oh God it is so annoying when we
Play against Pat I mean he always makes it seem like it’s the biggest game of his life although that’s kind of how he was all the time but when he plays against the Clippers now for whatever reason not whatever reason he used to be one of us he has so
Many pre-existing relationships on the team you know Paul George Kawai Zoo Harden he even played with Russ Ty’s been his coach he’s played with Terence man I mean he’s played with air coffee he’s played with damn near our whole team so it makes sense why he goes a little bit harder
And you know of course we didn’t pay him and we saw the way he felt to a degree even though he still shows love from time to time on his podcast we saw what he how he felt when he exploded like they won the championship when he was in Minnesota
And he started switching onto Paul George like when when I say switching I don’t mean switching on a possession I mean starting out possessions guarding Paul George and Malik Beasley on Harden towards the end of that first quarter and not going to lie Paul got off to a
Pretty good start eight points in the first quarter James Harden also was very solid in the first quarter he ended up having 11 points so between Paul George and James we had 19 points in the first quarter uh Lopez was in drop coverage zubats was in drop coverage and you know
When you look at that starting lineup for the bucks it’s pretty small Malik Beasley Damen Lillard and Pat Bev all starting but one thing they were doing to start the game hitting some threes you got one from jakay Crowder you got one from Brook Lopez and three from Dame
The Bucks were 5 for 10 from three in the first quarter but overall we LED them 35 to 25 after one Kawai played the entire first quarter and he was the only one who did and he was two for three with four points we didn’t shoot very
Much and I got to give the Bucks some credit and I hate that I’m saying this but in the last couple of games they’ve been doing well with Glenn Rivers as coach and their biggest problem this season was that their defense wasn’t good and what I saw in this game was a
Team from the jump that looks like they’ve been playing harder defense because it was team wide you know their ball pressure their ball denial at times how in tune they were to whatever their scheme was there was a difference and you know defense is very largely effort and when you flip that effort
Switch it makes a huge difference as a team of course big time so you know they wanted Adrien Griffin out it was very clear took a while for Glenn but it seems like he’s finally integrating himself now zubot I thought in the first half was pretty quiet when Daniel Ty
Came in he was actually hedging on the pick and rolls not dropping but I think after that initial stretch where Zu was in drop and Dame was kind of cooking us Tai was basically like over that and he was basically asking the centers to show every single time on Dame don’t let
Him just come off for an open three now of course this is the second game where we’re missing Russell Westbrook and Bones Highland came in and he had five straight points to end the first quarter including a buzzer beater where he went Coast to Coast he made the shot with 0.1
Seconds left so as far as bones Highland I mean pretty quiet game in terms of the minutes but remember it’s a true backup situation right now where he’s playing whenever James Harden isn’t and Bones had five points for the game on two for four shooting in 11
Minutes and still still solid you know Clippers go into the half up 55- 48 so the Bucks were still kind of hanging around and a large reason is because Damen Lillard had 19 points at halftime he’s a star he’s still a star no doubt about it 19 points for him as
Far as Paul George and James Harden Paul had 15 at halftime and James at 13 so those two were leading the way for the Clippers scoring wise um as far as Bobby poris he caused us a bunch of problems throughout the night he was hedging and recovering on the bone screens when or
Should I say when bones in the controlling the ball in the pick and roll and then blitzing Paul George but as I said PG was really cooking in that second quarter there was one time where he even told noran Powell to go up to
The wing to pass him the ball in the mid post and he scored on Pat Pat conon it was awesome but we were getting cooked by Bobby poris throughout the game and that would be foreshadowing uh to what would happen in the fourth quarter uh Norm he didn’t
Have a very good game in this one two for eight from the field it was not like the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves but defensively he was actually pretty active got a couple of steals and blocks uh let’s see what he finished with in the game two steals in a block six points
For Norman two for eight shooting zoo in the second half and in the second starting in the second quarter actually started to show on Dame or basically Blitz Dame so we were like let’s just get the ball out of his hands and that was allowing open threes for
Other guys but it didn’t fully take off till the fourth quarter as far as the Clippers James Harden good throughout the game first half start started from the first half making plays knocking down shots how a floater or two um but the only Annoying Thing one of the
Things that was keep kind of keeping the Bucks in the game Pat Bev had nine points at halftime two for five from three so he was on Pace for 18 points he ended up finishing with 12 so he made he only made one more three uh
The rest of the game but it was a really big three to tie the game in the fourth now in the third quarter the Clippers actually went up by 15 it started with kawh Leonard hitting two threes from the top of the key and then and also I
Thought he was playing great on ball defense one-on-one hustling there was that one time where Kawai uh saved the ball for us or knocked it out of a Milwaukee Bucks players body and we got the ball back that was just pure hustle that was in the third quarter Zoo
Started to get offensive rebounds and when they started you know Lopez was playing drop all night but against Harden and Paul George he was kind of in that high drop so it was allowing them to make those pocket passes put zoo in that short rle and I thought Zoo made
Some really good reads in that third quarter and that is represented in the stat sheet because he had three assists he played 6 minutes and 20 seconds in that third quarter but he had three assists in that quarter alone four in the game now we were up by
15 bucks made a little push towards the end of the Third to cut it down to eight overall Clippers won the third quarter 26 to 25 the fourth quarter the Clippers lost 40 to 25 doesn’t it sound familiar sounds just like the Laker game Clippers going into
That Laker game this is courtesy of clipper beat Rider Justin Russo were 31- one when they went into the fourth quarter with the lead this season now we’ve lost two in the last week when we had the lead going into the fourth it started out with us missing four straight solid
Looks to begin the quarter Norman pal little elbow kind of floater Paul George wide openen 15-footer James Harden step back three but I’ll tell you what really caused it and I Gotta Give Glenn Rivers Credit as much as I hate it he went to a two3
Zone and the Clippers just kind of kept running pick and roll basketball they generated open threes and they didn’t make them they didn’t really put somebody in the middle besides a couple of possessions later in the game and they didn’t really get the ball inside the paint and what was frustrating about
It was the Bucks were over the limit for a while you know they committed see how many fouls in the fourth quarter eight fouls in the fourth so we had time and chances to go to the basket and time and time again you know a Zone
Keeps away from the basket but we kind of played into their hands and in the fourth quarter the Clippers were 35% from the field 36% from three but 14 of their 20 shot attempts were threes there you go and that’s what the Bucks wanted to do they kept us outside
We ended up going cold we still ended up generating Some solid looks but the ball movement wasn’t that great and that’s really disappointing that against a Zone you don’t move the ball very well I’m going to get into the dick of that when we go to the Tai lose segment of this
Episode so please stick around for that but coming up going to be talking about the stars and what went so wrong in that fourth quarter cuz what I mean you could say whatever you want about the first three quarters but the fourth quarter is where the Clippers completely collapsed
They allowed the Bucks to have a 10 run to begin it and Bobby poris and Damen Lillard just went ballistic Dame had 10 points in the fourth poris had 14 in the fourth and as for the Clippers James Harden and Paul George shot well in the fourth I would say James Harden
Played well Paul had just a couple of inexcusable moments but Paul had 11 points in the fourth James had 10 they had 21 of our 25 so very similar to the first quarter 21 of our 25 points in the fourth Kawai was 0 for four and we’re
Going to talk about the zone and everything and the stars in particular coming up this this segment of locked on Clippers is brought To Us by our sponsor better help sometimes we all need the opportunity to get something off our chest big or small certain things can
Really start to get to you it’s important to let that out especially to someone who’s unbiased on your life so today I want to say how I really feel about something you might be even thinking about the same thing this week I don’t know if the Clippers are true
Championship contenders due to their age and being such a jump shooting team it’s been the same issue since we got Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and James Harden against the elite defenses I don’t know if he’s going to have much juice off the bounce therapy can be different for everyone

10% off your first month that’s betterhelp hp.com lockon NBA all right Clippers losing this one 113 to 106 against the Bucks get outscored 40-25 in the fourth quarter so brutal let’s go in more depth about this fourth starting with who played in it Amir coffee Norman pal and
Paul George played the entire quarter James Harden basically played the entire quarter 11 minutes and 12 seconds so bones and him you know bones was in when James was out and that was about it they didn’t share the court together so the bugs started the quarter
On an 80 run and something that was hurting us was we were basically blitzing Damen Lillard getting the ball out of his hands and the other guys are making threes AJ Green Bobby poris these guys were hitting so when the the Clippers were up 898 and the Clippers were not hitting on the
Offensive end we were up 8984 we take Zoo out with 8 minutes and two seconds left in the game we put in Kawai for the rest of the game now we have a lineup of kawhai James Paul Amir and Norm Amir and Norm at this point aren’t even playing that well but he
Tries to go without Zoo so we can switch everything we start struggling to be a Zone and part of that is not getting the ball to the middle of the floor not getting the ball in the middle of a Zone then becomes a lot of swinging on
The perimeter and we try to you know set a screen on the outside man at the top of the Zone get in and then drive and kick so it was basically very similar to what we do against man and man and we just went cold from three I mean they
Had us take 14 out of our 20 shots from Beyond The Arc in that fourth quarter and that was their goal and I got to give Glenn rivers and them credit I do it’s unfortunate we started missing kawhai went over for four in the fourth let’s talk about Kawai he had a very
Good stretch in the third quarter defending and made those two threes from the top of the key but 16 points four rebounds five assists four Steals and a block his defense was very good but and even guarded Dame a lot in this game as primary Defender and just one
Turnover but six from 19 from the field two for eight from three two for three from the line including a Miss in the fourth quarter in in a close game when we were down 99 to 105 or I’m sorry 100 to 105 it’s not good enough and Kawai you know I thought he
Wasn’t good enough in the fourth quarter of that Laker game either I thought through three quarters he was fine in this this game but not a good fourth quarter kawai’s really struggled and again against the Wolves he was awesome player of the game but in the fourth
Quarter he was a little suspect he just hasn’t been a good enough closer for the clips there’s no other way I can put it that was really disappointing and then Paul George starts out the quarter by missing two free throws misses three in the quarter one on a defensive 3 second violation that
We needed and then he throws that weak pass when the defense is loading up to James Harden and James Harden doesn’t catch the ball with two hands and then they score and take the lead and the crowd is roaring these are the kind of momentum killers that everyone says Russ
Does and to be honest I think we actually missed Russ in this game I think we missed the guy that could get to the basket because we consistently settled consistently and the thing about Russ is he’s going to bring the energy for four quarters I don’t think the Wolves game
Was W for Russ but I think this one was and James and Paul I think they were still pretty good in the fourth mainly James I thought James was good Paul was okay he still had that mistake and those Miss free throws they scored in the fourth the
Other guys didn’t they scored 21 out of our 25 points Paul had was three for five three for four from three in the quarter although I remember one of those threes was in garbage time then James you know he was looking like he was
Going to take us home hit a three got to the basket got an n one But ultimately our offense against that zone was really bad and we couldn’t stop them and what I felt was interesting was when we came out of the timeout we were down I’m sorry we were up I believe
9693 oh so sorry when Brook Lopez came back in we were up 9693 Pat Bev hit a three to tie the game right I thought the whole purpose of going small was to switch everything but we started blitzing Dame so I guess his thought process was we’re going to
Have more quickness out there to run them off the three-point line and make them go to option C and D you know that didn’t work they were making all their threes this dude AJ Green pulled up from like 30 Bobby poris was making turnarounds contested they were hitting everything
And to close the game I mean six for 10 from three in the fourth but the stars for the Clippers weren’t good enough to close there’s nothing else I can say Paul George was 10 for 17 6 for 10 from three 29 Points five rebounds an assist and two steals
But he had three turnovers and you know the killer three for seven from the foul line that is unacceptable when you want to win a game just in general just in general James Harden TW I think he was the best Clipper 29 Points for rebounds eight assists one
Block still turn the ball over three times 9 for 16 from the field 5 for 10 from three but six for nine from the foul line still in the fourth quarter again dribbling way too much of the clock out before we get into stuff and Kawai as I already mentioned
The stat line just very disappointing game from him he hadn’t had a bad shooting game since the Sacramento won so we just they just needed to play better but coming up let’s talk about what tyo did and some of the decision that he made what he could have potentially done

Partner of the NBA all right Clippers losing this one very pointing fashion 113 to 106 in Milwaukee blowing a 15-point lead we had a 7459 advantage and we lost it 39 and 21 on the season for the clips now 18- 13 on the road we’re five- six since the Grammy road
Trip Amir coffee had four points on two for six shooting in this one our bench didn’t really give us much 20 points over overall I’m sorry 22 points overall Norman Powell two for eight one for six from three just six points Amir Coffey two for six on the
Field 0 for two from three four points Terence Mann only had four points but that brings me to the first of Tao’s decisions Terrence Mann didn’t play at all in the fourth he had four points and three rebounds and one assist on one for four shooting two for two from the line
Amir Coffey only had four points as well and played seven more minutes defensively I don’t think anybody did a good job on Dame Terren included but I I think as we’re seeing time go on and I always think this because Amir always has these moments where he challenges
Terren and gets that conversation going about who’s better and you could argue he’s having a better season but I think Terren is better I think he’s a better cutter I think he makes better passes on the drive better attacking Closeouts although amir’s mid-range jumper is pretty solid attacking the close out
It’s been a little colder since post All-Star break but but I just think Terren has slightly better instincts he’s a little more consistent um this season maybe you can argue no but over the course of his Clipper career he’s been more consistent and he’s played in bigger moments I
Don’t think teren men not playing the fourth quarter is the reason we lost but I think that’s very questionable and it reminds me of last year he should not be sitting the entire fourth now on the zubot decision to go small I get where he was coming from because we were
Getting burned on the pick and roll but why would we do that if we’re not going to just switch everything and Trust our one-on-one defense if we’re still going to Blitz Dame I get he wants to you know he doesn’t want Zoo closing out hard but
Then go with Ty because we’re just a little small but then again if the threes go in we’re not even having this conversation my biggest issue is that like against the Zone we just can’t we we can’t just Chuck threes my bet would be to put Kawai in the high post
And just leave him there you gotta account for him but here’s the thing right when you don’t have somebody in that dunker spot which is like you know right around the basket you don’t get any of that high low action so let’s say Brook Lopez is the bottom of the zone
Right and kawhai gets the ball at the foul line now Brook Lopez has to come respect kawhai and come out and guard him that leaves somebody open right under the basket if someone sinks from the wing then that leaves the corner open but now you’re playing inside outside basketball right Pal Gasol and
Andrew bham because I got the pleasure of watching them here in La for a while they had great big to Big passing Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were fantastic big to Big passing but I remember specifically seeing them teams go zon sometimes against that Laker team and they would destroy them because pal
Could just turn and shoot so having Kawai in that high post or Paul I think would be the best bet I just think it’s we still generated good looks but it took too long to get into everything again and that’s I think on James Harden
To a large degree but that being said I would probably blame him the least of any player for this loss lo tyou I mean you know he’s going to get crushed in these comments I’m already knowing but and he should definitely get some heat I mean that was very
Questionable not to play Terren at all I don’t think that the Zone thing that shouldn’t be large I think for whatever reason every team in the league does this stuff I don’t know if that’s the coaching that every team’s coach is like that or the players just forget what
They’ve done in youth basketball their whole lives or growing up I mean a lot of these guys didn’t play that long in college and you see zones a ton in college but it’s it’s just ludicrous to me you don’t put somebody in the middle of your Zone and then when we did we
Failed to capitalize on one-on-one matchups and missed a lot of Threes the Bucks were clutch we just got to be clutch sometimes it just comes down to that but yeah as far as Tai should he have put zuo back in the game probably probably because he was starting to put
His imprint on the game in the third quarter you know couple offensive rebounds making really solid reads in that short role so questionable decisions indeed but I definitely blame the Stars more it’s a players League Paul George makes a couple free throws changes the momentum
Of things but you got to give the Bucks credit too the other guys were just making shots AJ Green pulled up from the parking lot and Bobby poris just went nuclear but yeah I’m surprised we didn’t go with Ty he wanted the close out speed but those guys didn’t pay cuz
Here’s the thing when you have Norman James out there not to say they had bad defensive games at all but that’s not the strongest defensive lineup when you have those two out there you’re banking on the offense James brought it in that fourth Norm not so much but I still
Think James at the same time he wasn’t Flawless either you know you got to be able to get into our offense a little quicker you know and Tai call that out after the game not specifically on James but he’s our point guard right now without you know point guard largely no rust he’s
Already our main point guard this season but I’m saying without rust that’s even more responsibility for him now he’s probably going to be playing even more minutes which we wanted him to play a little bit less winding down into the playoffs and you we’ve got a tough
Schedule in March a lot of backto backs from what I from what I remember and this loss is terrible it really is now I’m really curious to see your guys’ comments about tyo about the stars and what they did and just another fourth quarter collapse because oh it was
Disappointing is there anybody stat line that I’m forgetting zubot Six Points 11 rebounds four of those offensive four assists two turnovers on two for four shooting in 24 minutes uh 6 and 11 in 24 minutes is pretty good but h i mean another thing we don’t go to
Zoo at all in terms of getting him the ball close to the basket and having him try to create some offense and that really in my opinion hurts cuz we struggle to create easy baskets and in this game you know the Bucks are over the limit for a while we’re not getting
In the rim we’re not Brook Lopez blocked kawhai once when he tried to attack that zone cuz there was that time where Brook Lopez came out and picked up Kawhi Leonard when kawhai got the ball on that high post kawhai tried to drive at a moment of tunnel vision got blocked and
That was just a great defensive play but I don’t like how we just went away from that it is what it is I don’t even know what to say Clippers lose it 113 to 106 Damen Lillard dropped 41 bat Bev was talking a whole lot of mess Bobby poris at 28 and
16 and yeah we come up with the L let me know what you think though you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram at Dime dropper pod subscribe to my own YouTube channel dime dropper for even more LA Clipper and LA Sports content and lock on Clippers is free and
Available wherever you get your podcast including YouTube the good news is OKC lost to the Lakers so they took an L that keeps us still in position to potentially get that one seed Minnesota and OKC now have 19 losses but so does Denver Clippers have
21 so still just two back in the loss column at in the number to the number one seed so take that for what it’s worth the age old proverb continues go Clippers
The LA Clippers blew a 15 point 2nd half lead against the shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks to collapse 113-106. It was all about the 4th quarter where the Clippers were outscored 40-25.
In this episode, die hard Los Angeles Clippers fan and Host Darian Vaziri talks about the collapse and what led to it, the performances of the stars, and Ty Lue’s decisions.

Thank God I was working and not actively watching, for my own sanity
With just one loss against one of the top teams in the east after a back to back game, we are already hearing our beloved Russ fans coming all out again in saying how important Russ is to the team, and how he will be sorely missed with his leadership and defensive skills…
we’ve heard exactly the same thing when we first traded for Harden, where fans trashed Harden into pieces for the 0-5 record and blamed him as the main problem. And when Russ was benched, Russ fans came all out and shouted out for harden to be benched instead. Thereafter, they all shut up as the team started to click and harden started to produce, while Russ could barely shoot at <30% from 3 and delivering close to ZERO plus minus since then.
we are now having another major tweak in the team rotation again where we’re replacing Russ, potentially by Bones or Bones and committee. It will take some time to figure that out for the team to function with a different tactic.
I’m not sure if they will be able to do that. But The irony is, they were silent when the team beat the number one team in the west (wolves) just a day ago without Russ, after failing twice earlier in the season with Russ.
Let’s see for how long Russ fans can shout this time around. They did that for 5-6 games when Hardrn got traded. My worry is, Russ’ absence in the rotation with the clippers is not only a temporary one, but very likely a permanent one with the FO seeing how Bones and committee can do well if given a chance after 5-8 games.
Hyland is unplayable when the game is important. Russ’ low iq play isn’t missed, get well soon. George’s low iq play will always hurt the team. Missed free throws and kawhi’s poor offensive play aided the loss. This is not a good team. The center position is nonexistent. Not looking good, losing winnable games is who this team is. Go clippers!
Ty is inconsistent
Like I know we had that game but come on…..we had a hard game b4 that where KL almost played the whole game like I was shock when we had a 14 point lead…. so we act like dame never carry a whole team….. now if dame wasn't there then ok we should win hands down but a back to back and your 1st game is tha number 1 seed in tha west come on…. like come on and tha 1st game was early as sht come on man in my boosie voice
Back to back game, wolf won, and Clippers lost?
you don’t know ball if you think Mann is playing better. He had 3 games hot and cooled off again
Zubac left in the third up 12 and came back up 8. When Zu left in the 4th we were up 6.
Any everyone is jumping off a cliff whenever there’s wins n loses but it’s a long season and fandom is real. The Clips are banking in April,May n hopefully June.. with the talent.. can you beat us 4 times in a 7 game series. None of the top teams are without flaw.. and even a team like Denver who is closest to it.. if anyone of they cogs go down.. which is possible in the playoffs ..I don’t think they are the same team. Boston is a younger us.. overstacked talented team that rely on way too many jump shots. Milwaukee was struggling defensively n to come up with games where lillard n Giannis both have great games together. OKC got one bonified superstar n great pcs like the Dallas Dirk team 2011 but that team was full of vets n this one is kids. Minnesota struggles scoring in the halfcourt. Lakers lack shooting.. Goldenstate got pedigree but lacks size. Pels can’t stay healthy. 76ers best player is rarely available when it matters most.. Miami lacks the A level superstar. New York have a great team n identity but it’s 2024 not 2004.. u gotta put up points to some degree. I just think the league is wide open. So I’m not panicking. Just waiting for us to correct our poor tendencies and maintain our health n focus come playoff time
I felt like around the 6:25 mark in the 3rd up 15 was crucial and it seemed like it all pretty much just kept gradually dwindling from there.
I try to give PG credit then he does some ol dumb shit like that pass in the corner at that time that threw the rhythm of the set play off. He threw a chest pass as opposed to bounce. Porter deflected but he got back. That’s a bucket for Harden and we’re up 18. He also compounded it by hacking Connaughton instead of doing his work early on the box out, he just pushed him outta bounds.
Harden knocks down another 3 and maybe PG too but PG went 3 pt crazy along with Norm. Kawhi seemed tired every shot was short to start off and then hard because he was overcompensating.
We have to learn from these mistakes. We can’t go 3 pt crazy, push pace trying to beat them back before their defense is set because we’re actually really good in the half court. We have to be able to play that way come playoffs because the game slows down. There aren’t a ton of fast break opportunities. We also don’t rebound, or get to the rim. You know it’s a problem when Harden is going to the cup getting and 1s and no one else is outside of Kawhi. Whistle wasn’t too kind either last night but we compounded it by missing 9 FTs. Can’t happen and from our hood FT shooters on top. Garbage ass game but we move on.
Good shit Dime👊🏽
Cannot believe we lost that!!! It was on our control! Harden should’ve been the person to go to during the 4th, Kawhi was soo bad, he should’ve stopped shooting and found Harden or PG.. smh! Ty Lue did t call any time outs when needed and he didn’t rotate at all! Terrance should’ve closed, Norm was cold! SMH idk why Ty took Hardeb out when he was on fire! Also, I don’t trust the line ups when PG is the o my star in the floor, the other team always catches up smh!
This was a great breakdown of the game. It ultimately came down to those last 3 minutes. The reason I don’t think it was a big deal is because this is a make or miss league. Our guys simply just didn’t hit shots and bucks didn’t miss. It happens. No reason to overreact after the clippers played a solid game away from home. Also, kawhi is usually by far the most consistent. For him to have an off game every now and then is not a big deal. Clippers are still in a great spot to get the 1st seed. They have proven they can beat any team in the league.
I’m officially off the clippers. I like Kawhi but I do not trust this team. Never trusted Paul George or harden and they should’ve made a move at the deadline. They need a athletic big mainly a PF. This team has no heart. I hate to say it but it’s the truth. They’re the same disappointing clippers unfortunately.
They lost against them without Giannis then when they see them again with Giannis It's a guarantee loss for the clippers.
PG played okay overall but man does he make some of the dumbest mistakes in clutch time.
This is why you cannot trust the clippers they are not clutch under pressure see PG missing free throws.
Kawhi has been our closer all season and it's unreasonable to ask or expect him to always get the job done every game. Sometimes it's not gonna go his way and we need our other players to step up and pitch in
I was hoping the Clippers would still have a shot at the top seed, but after watching the last 3 games, I'm not counting on that anymore. Right now, I'm just looking forward to them being healthy come playoff time.
Solid game just think the back to back kinda caught up with them and shots stop falling and they stopped trying to get to the line started to shift in the third once we was over the bonus and kept putting them on the ft line
We lost all our heart when Westbrook got injured smh. Our offense looked like a shell of itself in the 4th and everybody seems to be too cool on defense. We have to play ALL 48 minutes!
Ty lue doesn’t motivate his team to dominate the competition
Each game we lose like this one just be hurting a lil too much. No Giannis and still L. Guys get lazy when they are up need to juice everyone up on that lebron juice at this point
you know what its easy to counter the clippers. we have been playing the same minuites for kawhi. teams have new gameplans for us and it starting to show.
Belt 2 A$$ Baby #StayFr34ky!!!!
We needed Russ to guard Lillard
Good recap.
Even tho Kawhi & Norm had subpar offensive games Clips still should have won this game. In the 4th they had the penalty for 9 minutes and only shot 9 free throws! Too many perimeter, shots, almost all were 3’s.
It was a defensive game down the stretch yet you have no rim protection or rebounding, Your point of attack defender on the bench.
Zu & Theis combined for
13 pts 17 reb yet they didn’t play down the stretch.
IMO that cost us the game, as well as shooting 3 pointers almost the entire last 8 or 9 min instead of trying to get into the paint and creat fouls & free throws. These are all coaching mistakes.
TY LUE IS THE PROBLEM.
He cannot make appropriate in game adjustments. It’s not always about offense, you win with defense & stops. How do you not have 2 of your better defenders (Zu & Mann) on the court in a close game?
As far as the comment about Kawhi (a proven champion) not performing in the 4th quarter, he scored 7 pts in 7 minutes in the 4th vs Minn and made several big defensive plays in both games, as he always does. Even when he’s not shooting well, more time than not he still gets to the free throw line & plays like the best player on the court and gives any team a chance to win.
All the russ haters take a long hard look. ITS MORE EASY TO LOCK UP A SLOW PACE TEAM THAT GET STUCK IN THE MUD. Clippers are now a half court team. Clippers HAVE SHOOTING what happens when the shooting is just average. Russ brings speed pace passing and LOW POST SCOREING.AND DEFENSE.
Dudes played at 3 pm the day before then traveled to another state and played a few hours later, so you guys understand how grueling that is? They had an early game, no rest in an airplane and then another game that started in the evening. I didn’t expect them to win. The scheduling is brutal, Clippers have the worst schedules and the most mikes traveling in the nba.
The clippers took a nap at half time then Paul George decided to wake up 11 seconds left in the 4th quarter ready to ball but by that time game over
Watching it. I cut it off start of 4th, I already knew we were gonna lose.. this teams plays like an old man, only gets excited for the good games.. I’m not worried but I do wanna see them continue to build good habits
Lets be real… Clippers soft and blow leads. They will be a second round exit at the very least
I didn’t see the game. But did they not put Kawhi on Dame or have PJ to harass Dame? Because when Kawhi was put on Ant in the 2nd half. He shut him down. Too many games lost we should have won.
Tough loss… I don’t think there’s a point I can make that you didn’t. PG Not attacking the paint and jacking up untimely 3s. He continues to make bad momentum killing plays. Missing those 2 free throws was huge. Got the crowd in it. Pat And Bobby always feed off the crowd. Kawhi just looked tired on the second end of a back to back and it was evident late in the 4th when he couldn’t score in the paint on a couple possessions. Norm had an characteristically bad game. Theis should have played minutes down the stretch and Mann instead of Coffey.
We need to get Seth Curry to replace Russ as of now and sign Boogie to get a center with pride
Im not going to lie Kawhi, PG, and Harden vs Damian Lillard, and we lose smh this is starting to get annoying. This is why i was not ok with this stacking up stuff. They need to get a complimentary squad around Kawhi not other superstars and we need a legit big Theis is too small and Zubac he isnt good enough on a title contending team.
Tough loss on a back to back. Beat Minnesota and made a competitive game against the bucks. It's not all doom and gloom.
Last thing about this. When Kawhi is getting double teamed as good as he is you dont see him dropping 41 so im trying to figure out how we give him 41 points that actually crazy same thing with Lebron wr keep letting one star beat us alone especially in the 4th. They gotta be better you were able to double him because no Giannis. The point of a double is to force others to score yet Lillard still went off and we let Portis drop 30 that is horrible defense. We let him beat us and everyone else. Lakers complaining about their coach look at ours he doesnt motivate these guys to play defense nor does he reset things when he sees we are about to blow a big lead Ty Lue is starting to become Doc Rivers 2.0 this has been disgusting basketball for like the past 2 months what happened to that 9 streak team this the same team just shows the effort or sense of urgency is there. They cant when a chip this season if they not going to play with heart they got no chance at all this was a must win so was that Lakers game yet they showing old tendencies of those blown leads and losing to teams with less talent. Remember Kawhi said they dont know what to do after huddles. Tells you alot about the coaching.
PG chokes man, take him out in the fourth, esp as he defends like my grandma now aswell
I’ll be honest, this one stings. There’s absolutely no excuse to lose a game where you’re up double digits for most of the way especially with the WAY we lost in terms of not being able to break down the zone, Ty’s questionable decisions and Kawhi’s sluggish offence.
With that being said, I understand why we lost. Not to make any excuses but we coasted the whole game. We were on auto pilot it seemed like just cruising by expecting the bucks to just give up at some point. Coming off the win against Minnesota I feel as it the only focus going into this back to back was to win against Minnesota and let the chips fall where they may. Every game in hindsight is a must win game but Minnesota was literally a MUST WIN. It took everything to beat them and I guess Kawhi and norm was just gassed and PG wasn’t mentally there in terms of FT shooting. It’s not the end of the world
Russ’s pace changing would’ve seriously helped us. Now we don’t have that grit and grind guy to rally our players.
Why t man was benched?
