Interesting KAT Stats

“Tired concept that KAT should “get in the post” bc he’s 7ft tall. Shooting 42.3% on 5.3 3PA/g—if anything, should be shooting more…

KAT’s issue is sloppiness & blinders when he puts the ball on the deck, 10.3 TOV% on drives, worst in NBA. Passes on 19.6% of his drives—3rd least”

He needs to play like Lauri Markkanen

KAT has actually had a really effective post game many times throughout his career. It kind of comes and goes in waves for whatever reason. Yes, he’s shooting great from beyond the arc, but you said it yourself. He’s sloppy and turnover prone when he drives to the basket and he’s often out of control and falling to the ground which allows the opposing team to push the ball down the court. Because of this, his game has become a bit more one dimensional which is a problem. Right now we aren’t seeing a ton of versatility from him on offense and he camps around the 3pt line. And then when he does catch the ball beyond the arc, half the time he does an unnecessary pump fake when he could have just pulled the trigger right away

It’s the league worst 10% Turnovers when he drives that is so surprising…

He needs to slow down in my opinion. When he was being guarded by centers he could cook them off the dribble when they’d play up on him. But with him typically seeing wings now they’re much quicker and can stay in front of him pretty easily. I think if he just slowed down and utilized his length more, much like what SloMo does, he could add another element to his game and make him harder to guard. If he can use the quick drive, along with a slow paced drive combined with his 3 point shot I think he could be lethal. But you never know, the turnover rate on drives are pretty concerning though considering how often he drives

  5. People want kat in the post more but theres gonna be 2 guys down low if rudys in the game so our spacing is way way better with him at the 3. It also opens slashing lanes for everyone too idk why people yap about this statement so much

On 9.7 drives per game he’s getting 7.6 points per game which is 4th best points% on drives behind only Embiid, JJJ, and Jason Tatum. When he drives he scores more often than a bad outcome.
