Do Not OVERLOOK The New Orleans Pelicans When It’s Time For PLAYOFF BASKETBALL

We are in the month of March of this year’s NBA season which means we are getting closer and closer to playoff basketball and when I look at the Western Conference and I look at the standings I can’t help but get excited for this year’s playoffs in that

Conference when we look at the number one seed and we look all the way down to the 10th seed which is the last seed that you could qualify for to potentially get into the playoffs from the number one seed all the way down to the 10th seed it is completely um packed

Tight like the standings are extremely close losing one or two games could mean a lot in terms of your place in the standing so going down the stretch in the playing tournament it’s going to be extremely fun watching these teams in the Western Conference but we look at

The team um number one and we go all the way down to the temp seed the temp seed in the Western Conference has a positive record and they have a record of four games above 500 so that just goes to show you and that team is the Golden

State Warriors and that just goes to show you how competitive it is over there right now for it to be this stage this deep into the season and to be four games above 500 but you’re still the 10 seed I think that’s pretty crazy but nonetheless um looking at the Western

Conference what we hear about as far as contenders the noise that we hear when we look on when we turn on the TV when we get on social media of course we hear a lot of noise about the two young and upand cominging teams that’s the top two

Seeds in the Western Conference the Oklahoma City Thunder and the uh Minnesota timberwoods which I think they deserve all of that buzz whether they’re too young or not if they could actually win a championship you also have a lot of noise about the defending champs which makes a lot of sense you can’t

Write them off um nicolea yic and the Denver Nuggets and then also you hear a lot of noise about teams like the Los Angeles Clippers who have been extremely good since they figured things out with James Harden and also you still have a team in the Western Conference that’s

Extremely scary on the offensive side of the board with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker but but one team that I think that I think gets severely overlooked and I I was really fixated on this team last season and that team is the New Orleans Pelicans I think this team has

Been getting severely overlooked and I actually have a theory a theory on why that was on why that’s happening um I took a look at the New Orleans Pelicans we all know they didn’t send anyone to allar weekend this year uh nobody on this team is putting up crazy eye

Popping numbers and I think this is is plan until I think this is planned into them getting overlooked and I took a look at the New Orleans Pelicans I looked at their player stats and I looked at the minutes per game and their minutes per game is a lot different um

Than a lot of other teams or at least at the top with the best players so you look at a team like the Minnesota Timberwolves and a team like the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets their best players are playing like 35 Plus minutes per game Kevin Durant um on the Phoenix

Suns plays 37 minutes per game Devin Booker 35 minutes per game Ant-Man joic these guys are playing 35 minutes per game and we take a look at the New Orleans Pelicans the highest minutes played per game on this team is by Brandon Ingram and it’s only at 33

Minutes per game so um I think this play I think this has played a role on the way that the numbers looked for the New Orleans Pelicans but we also got to remember that this team has a different goal um they have a different goal onl I

Think their biggest goal right now is to get everyone into the postseason health because we saw them two years ago take the Phoenix Suns I believe man I can’t remember because I was watching that I believe it was a seven game series between the first and the AFC uh we

Watched them take take the Phoenix Suns who was a really good team that year all the way to seven games without Zion Williamson we saw them last season be at the top of the Western Conference before they got um the injuries to Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson so right now

I don’t think the coach Willie Green the players and the New Orleans Pelicans I don’t think they care about getting those that that um they don’t think they care about getting those numbers with come with playing that their best players at high minutes their Focus right now is getting to the playoffs

Healthy because they want they know if they can get into the postseason and they have a healthy Brandon Ingram a healthy Zion Williamson and a healthy CJ McCullum and this Supporting Cast that they have around these guys if they can get in there if they can get into that

Postseason healthy um they’re going to be giving a lot of teams a a a run for their money and for a teams who best players minut it seems a little bit limited I think the New Orleans Pelicans they’ve been extremely good so far this season we just talked about how

Competitive the western conference is right now the the New Orleans Pelicans they ranked fifth in the west they’re 12 games above 500 with a record of 37 and 25 and they’re coming off an impressive blowout win on the road against the Toronto Raptors and we look at the New

Orleans Pelicans where they rank in some categories as a team team it seems like they’re primed for playoff basketball they have both a top 10 defense and a top 10 offense when it comes to defensive rating they ranked 10 they ranked 10 um in offensive rating and

They ranked six in the NBA in defensive rating also they ranked third in the NBA when it comes to three-point field goal percentage so not three-pointers made per game but three-point field goal percentage they do a great job a um knocking down their open three-point shots which is very important for

Playoff basketball and then another thing that another thing I saw that was um that was impressive was that they’re third in the NBA in Stills per game and they’re also seventh in the NBA in total rebounds per game so the New Orleans Pelicans they’re they’re excelling at a

Lot of things that could be very pivotal and playoff basketball rebounding um playing defense uh forcing turnovers and then getting high quality looks on the offensive side of the ball so they’re playing really well as a team and then I also have some guys and I want to use

Cam Cam Newton’s I want to use Cam Newton’s um analogy here I think they have some guys at the top of their rosters who aren’t game managers but when it comes down to playoff basketball these guys will definitely be game changers and I think the biggest game

Changer on the New Orleans Pelicans as of right now because I’ve seen it with my own eyes and that’s Brandon Ingram um a couple years ago when he was in the playoffs against the against the Phoenix Suns when the Pelicans was in AFC and the the Phoenix Suns was the number one

See it um for majority of that series Brandon Ingram looked like he was the best player on the court so I think this is another reason why um another reason why you you cannot overlook this New Orleans Pelicans team because what um what Brandon Ingram did in the playoffs

Um a couple of years ago I definitely think he can he can replicate that and he’s proved that he’s one of those players um because when you’re a good player in the NBA something that you have to be able to do um and this usually happens it usually goes one or

Two ways players usually don’t don’t stay the same when it comes to playoff basketball we either see a dip in the numbers or we see elevation in the numbers and that year from Brandon Ingram he took his game to a whole new level and um um you guys I can’t tell

You much about Brandon Ingram that you don’t already know about tremendous size tremendous length but he he plays the he plays the game like a guard he’s a elite thre LEL scorer he can handle the ball get to any spot he wants to um his midi

Pullups is um ranks with the best of the best in the NBA and then he’s a like he’s a sneaky good finisher around the room layups dunks he does it all and then he’s also a very very solid playmaker so Brandon Ingram I definitely think he’s one of those guys that’s uh

Underrated and I also want to say underappreciated and it’s because he’s one he’s a very quiet person he’s not he’s not all over social media he’s not all over commercials so it’s just really a marketed a marketing thing with Brandon Ingram I think if a lot of

People tuned in and watch him more they’ll see how good um that he really is so Brandon Ingram him being at the top of this team with Zion Williamson I think that’s going to make a huge difference and speaking of Zion same thing with him I I also think he has

That ability to be um a game changer right now Zion Williamson um he’s only playing 30 minutes per night and he’s still putting up 22 23 points per game and I think by the time the postseason comes around um his minutes are definitely going to get ramped up but he’s just like Brandon

Ingram he’s also a he’s not he’s not um he’s not a guy that manages a game he’s a guy that can wreck a game and take it over simply due to the fact that at times and and when he wants to Zion Williamson can be unstoppable and he can

Beat you in so many different ways um he can beat you on the low block he’s he’s stronger than about 80 90% of the players in the NBA and not only is he stronger but he has some very underrated finesse to his game he has a soft touch

Around the rim he has great footwork on that low block um he can finish with both hands he has great hang time in the air so we see some crazy acrobatic finishes from him and then also he can also take bigger guys off the dribble um

His ability to handle the ball and his quick first step I can’t go into dep about it right now because um we still have some other things to talk about but Zion Williamson’s ability to handle the ball paired with his quick first step makes him a lot harder to guard on the

Ball than a lot of people think and then also just pin him in two man games um whether he’s the ball handler looking for that mismatch with a uh um with um a player bringing a smaller player screening for Zion Williamson he gets that mismatch or having him work in the

Twan game I love the Twan game with Brandon Ingram as a ball handler and Zion Williamson as a screen roller I hope we get to see more of that now the stretch of the season and in the playoffs just get your two best players in the action and go to work so Zion

Williamson and Brandon Ingram these are two guys and and Brandon Ingram has already pro has already proved that he can take his game to a new level when when the pressure is there so and then having Zion W some with them this year in the playoffs I think that’s going to

Be um outstanding as well so you have those two guys at the top and then um one another thing that’s going to be very important this is kind of what’s been um keeping the New Orleans Pelicans steady this season is that this team has they have a lot of depth on this team

They have a lot of guys who who play their role um play the role that their acts really really well one player we can look at is Herb Jones another guy that’s that’s very very underrated one of the best if not the best um one of the best perimeter defenders in all of

The NBA one thing that’s going unnoticed with herb Jones so far this season is that he’s shooting that three ball at a very high level um him um him being more accurate from the three ball this year he’s shooting 42.9% from the three-point line that’s

At the top of the NBA and it’s led to him averaging 11 points per game this season so herb Jones um he’s everywhere on the defensive side of the ball um he just recently put on a defensive Master Class against Tyrese halberton holding him to zero points and three assist H

Burton averages 20 points and 11 assists per game so um they call him not on herb for a reason he’s an elite Defender all over the place on the defensive side of the ball and then offensively he’s just getting better and better and that’s exactly that’s all that was talked about

Um since he’s been since he’s been drafted can he develop that three-point shot can he become a guy that you cannot leave wide open and that’s exactly what um what herb Jones has become 42.9% from three is insane um another guy that they have on this team CJ

McCullum who’s a veteran who has seen countless countless countless playoff battles we seen him get all the way to the Western Conference Finals with um with um with Damien Lillard when they lost in the third round against the Golden State Warriors you have neones valent Tunis who can um still be a

Monster on the boards you can throw him the ball on a low block and he can go to work and get a bucket and we take a look in that second unit the New Orleans Pelicans have some high quality role players as there as well tra Murphy who

Can stretch to floor knock down those strees from deep and also get downhill and finish around the room they have the Energizer Bunny Off the Bench as well and Jose Alvarado who can ignite the crowd ignite the team deflate the other team’s um crowd with his ability to

Playmake get steals um score the basketball so this just got me thinking like like damn you know you got Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram at the top who’s kind of been um being conserved all year long I think it’s crazy that the um the player that leads the league

I mean leads the team in minutes for the Pelicans is Brandon Ingram but it’s only 33 minutes per game compared to some other contending teams in the Western Conference they have their their best players playing a lot more minutes than Zion Williams and and Brandon Ingram so

Them being a little bit more concerned by the time the playoffs come around I think it’s going to be um it’s going to benefit the New Orleans Pelicans a lot but um that’s going to be it for this video it feel really good to talk about
