Gotten into Malachi late um I think the benching was pretty big um you know pop pops done that with with Malachi with um uh did it with Kellin did it with Jeremy Jeremy and all three of them reacted really well to it did it with wmy too

Yeah it’s true with wmy too wmy W up having a great um what B started second half and came back and great um with Malachi I think it was Malachi always plays with a lot of energy he always help muscles but I think pops kind of

Talked about it with some of the other guys they always play with a lot of energy always play with a lot of effort but it’s about being smart uh you know with that energy I think Malachi was sort of uh you know taking some shots that weren’t all that great uh going a

Little too fast I mean you know you can you can do um you know you can hustle and then do the fast break and try to get to the rim but you got to be smart about it you know at times and I think at times he was a little too Reckless I

Think I think when pop benched him I think sort of got him to think hey you know uh let me kind of reevaluate what I’m doing and since then his offensive game has just been really smooth and he’s uh doing well defensively he’s not not a PR Premier Defender right now but

He’s doing enough to where you know he’s causing a problem defensively especially you know when he’s with Wy you know he’s able to you know kind of um steer people toward Wendy what what I like about what I’m seen from him he’s scoring at all three levels he’s getting to the free throw

Line he’s getting in the mid-range he’s connected on three shots we’re looking at uh we’ll take the last game versus Rocket sure it was a loss but you know he shined brightest in the fourth quarter he goes three for five uh from the field one for

Two in that game versus Houston then you look at what he did in the third quarter three for six two for three from the three line and then that second quarter two for two from the field he makes all he makes one three-point shot really was impactful again you know connecting on

Threes hitting field goals getting to the free throw line I like what I’m seeing at that he openly admitted that yeah you know maybe the the benching was good for him after the loss versus Houston but it was interesting R when papovich weeks ago was asked about

Brandham and getting on the bench he said something to the fact of you know I’m paraphrasing here like yeah you know they got to realize they Malachi gotta realize you know this is a game you know this is not just you know this is serious um it’s almost alluded that

Maybe Malachi wasn’t taking it too seriously yeah you know pop always um has those little turns on the mic where he’ll sort of direct a little message you know but you know usually when Pop does that it’s usually not directed to one player you know he has a tendency to

Do that and sort of include a lot you know other people in it as well uh perhaps with Malachi I don’t know I don’t know of anything that’s that was going on but you know pop obviously saw something and and um you know typically rookies and first year second year

Players usually don’t get a lot of playing time in the past with the Spurs you know because of their the rebuild a lot of these young players are getting a lot of playing time early so you know I think it’s good for pop every once in a

While sort of sort of pull the ring back on them and say Hey you know I know you were getting playing time but but you need to continue to work uh to get better and do smart things on the court and do the right things you know G playing time is not guaranteed

Regardless of whether what the record is so you know pop definitely well let me say Malai definitely heard Pop’s message yeah he’s scored in double figure uh well outings in five of the last six games 20 points um I think that was a a season high for him right it maybe may

Have been a career high as well um but season High okay yeah yeah 20 points again in Houston and again really connecting on his three shots four for seven against Houston uh you know you’re looking at uh you know he’s now a great piece at least for now a good piece

Coming off that bench uh well I believe he’s starting I think he started in the last game because champeny but do you think he’s earned his way back to the starting lineup because I think champen can be switchable keep him off the bench and put Malachi in I I think he’s better

Right now Off the Bench um okay I think they need that scoring off the bench because uh as we’ve seen here lately whenever wemy goes to the bench they they struggle offensively you know that’s why they put Kellin there that’s why they put Zach there and if Malachi

Can score like this it it’ll help them because with that starting lineup you know you have um you know wem’s obviously gonna score uh K I’m sorry Devon’s obviously gonna score Jeremy’s you know um showing that he’s his offensive game is just getting better and better but that second unit you know

They’ve struggled scoring so I I think that would keep Malachi on the bench for now I think I think Julian Julian doesn’t need shots as far as like he kind of has his little role like he doesn’t demand the ball you need you need someone like that with with Devon

And Wy in in the starting lineup yeah let’s take a look at Malachi so far this month and granted it is a small sample size two games in the month of March but nevertheless you know he’s getting 19 minutes in the last two games average average 2.5 rebounds 4.0 assist and he’s

Connected on 56% of his shots he’s taken about 13 and a half he’s made seven and a half and uh almost hitting 50% of his three shots at 46% again very small sample size I get that but you’re looking at February I mean my goodness that

Was you know hopefully he can keep that Trend up because in February 12 games 18 minutes by the way he’s gotten a big spike so far in the two games so far in mark he’s up to 28.4 minutes per game uh so with obviously minutes you get production and you’re looking at last

Last month February 8.4 points per game this month so far 19 a game so he’s really upped his game and you know ra a lot of Spurs fans had him pegged as the guy that was going to take the next leap of the of the young young young young

Guys on the roster and I don’t know if he has this year I think he’s showing something right now but it feels like that big leap or that that leap what we’re waiting for is still out there I don’t think he’s there yet no he’s he

Um not his game but uh he sort of reminds me of of Devon as far as his development I think it’s going to be three four years out before he really you know becomes who he is I think he’s going to show signs of it but it’s not

Going to be might not be might not be all the way maybe next you know next year I think it’ll be a lot better for him uh the one thing I say that’s really good with him is he he seems to realize more or um you know he’s going to the

Spot on the three-point you know he’s not running around and you know trying to to get to Drifting spots on the on the floor uh it’s like he knows where his best three-point shot is sort of like you know Bruce would Bruce Bowen would do sea Elliot would do you know go

That little corner or you know go the that little spot that’s his spot so it seems like he knows hey I get the ball here you know I’m probably gonna make that three-pointer rather than sort of running around you know trying to find something yeah yeah he so far has been a

Nice spark plug off that bench perhaps the reason why the Spurs are playing better I’m not saying they turned to corner I’m just saying they’re just playing a lot better okay sure you know Houston game was a loss but they hung tight for most of the game until uh you

Know getting wimy in foul trouble doesn’t help and of course um you know Houston playing Bonkers at home for some reason you know they play at home home that’s like they’re the next Champions of the NBA yeah but nevertheless for Malachi I like where this is going to go

And especially because this fa it R the team is in a roster evaluation moving forward in the rebuild so Malachi could be auditioning for a spot you know a larger spot or maybe the same spot or dare I say packaged you know so I think

He is somebody to look for as far as re the rebuild that this team is still going through r M yeah I mean when when they drafted uh Jeremy Malachi and Blake I thought you know these three guys have a really good chance to have a big

Impact you know I didn’t think all three of them would be starters but I thought you know at least one or two of them would would be starters or you know be really solid players uh Jeremy’s been that you know I know obviously struggled being a point guard

You know that’s not his position but you know he’s he’s come back and he’s doing well uh Malachi sort of on The Descent Blake man Blake is just uh the way he’s been playing lately I mean he’s just um I mean he I think he finally realize you

Know if I if I use my speed and my athleticism you know no one can stop me getting to the rim so right that’s good I think you know he’s eventually going to start developing I think more of a mid-range game um or needs to maybe some

Floaters but Blake’s uh Ascension is is really really promising for the Spurs yeah and the last three games for Blake Wesley uh 25 minutes per game 14 .7 points per game 2.3 rebounds 3.3 assists and he’s connected on 53% of his shooting and then 43% from the three

Line so a really good significant leap uh from uh from Malachi but again you know for me I don’t want to neede jerk too much again you know he’s just starting to come on I want to see how he is as the season winds down because they

Still got to have a hitters um on the RO on on the schedule they got Sacramento tonight they got Dallas they got Houston again so the the rough the the road is still rough so let’s just see how how Malachi is doing as the season progresses but so far at least the last

Sample size as very small sample size he’s looking a lot better hey and you know R you know that but I agree with you that shakeup that pop gave him by not playing him benching him deep in the bench I mean there was like a string of

Games where it was like dnp dnp I think it got to him and I’m glad that pop is doing that too like about time pop you know you can only coddle these young kids for x amount of time but you you got a light a fire on them and playing

Time seems to be the way you can light a fire on them look it happened to even Kellin kin got benched and he played like four minutes I forget what game it was but um yeah you know so kudo’s on papovich but so far it looks like

You know typically it was usually like the smaller players that would do it he put a smaller player on him he sort of pushed him in the chest or whatever you know uh you know kind of Le into him a little bit um trying to think who else

You know would do I think goar did a little bit to him so it’s not so much a blueprint I think everyone in the NBA sort of thought hey you know let me push him around a little bit to see what I can do um you know so I don’t think it’s

A secret I think uh sangon just had a a great game and um Wy got into some foul trouble early you know that obviously helped uh bar rocket and sangon uh but the other thing was and this is just me just kind of watching I thought maybe

Wmy maybe his shoulder was hurting more than he on he looked a little Gass like he just didn’t look the same as he did in those two wins didn’t seem to have the same energy um you know he he um wasn’t going for as many blocks or

Wasn’t quite going up I don’t know maybe that was his shoulder or what or maybe he was you know once he started getting the foul trouble that obviously limited what he could do but even before then he didn’t seem he didn’t seem as active uh trying to block shots as he had before

Yeah yeah and you know what okay yes wimy was saddled with fouls immediately I mean I think he only put like four minutes in the second quarter U and I was out yes he was dealing with a shoulder injury I was actually surprised the Spurs played him I was really

Surprised I thought nope it’s their it’s their pride and joy it’s their franchise player they ain’t gon to take any risk because we saw we’ve seen that throughout their the Spurs history when it comes to their star players but they let him plate me thinks Raul that maybe

Wy had a little say so in this I think maybe he wanted to play uh so he kind of forced his I am your Star Card uh on the Spurs but not only okay fine so singon got the best of wmy but let’s not forget the last game uh prior to couple nights

Game versus Houston wmy got the best of uh singun he had a massive poster dunk on him as a matter of fact after the game singon said that yes he was motivated to play against Wy because of how he he felt he didn’t play great against wmy in the previous previous

Game that they had played but not to take anything from wmy sure maybe there weren’t wmy numbers he had a double double 10 points 11 rebound but he had seven blocks and guess what about four or five of those were on singon because sangon was not backing down so I mean

You you you it’s like you’re being a boxer you know you you’re if you want to go for The Knockout you’re gonna take some hits you know and I think that’s what I was seen good he was taking hits but he was just Relentless just going at

Uh wimy so and by the way Wy still cre made NBA history with he has an ex I forget the name the number but he is on a on a block streak right now uh five or more that hasn’t been done for a while you know so he’s he’s set that history

Uh again he got the best of singon in the previous match up before this week’s game and wiy will get a measure of Revenge and quick because they play the Rockets again next week in San Antonio role yeah you know one thing I was when you’re talking about that one thing that

I was kind of looking at I was looking at numbers and uh uh when is only averaging uh 4.8 uh free throws per game um the same numbers as Carl Anthony towns and you know uh Carl Anthony towns you know is a guy that I think is pretty um a lot of

People talk about how he doesn’t get enough FES called for him you know and again wem’s right there with him uh I almost kind of think that maybe remember how Shaq wouldn’t get calls because he was so big I think people thought you know they could beat on him and hey you

Know it doesn’t really affect him maybe it’s a little bit the opposite with with with Wy he’s so thin that maybe when people push him say oh you know if he was Stronger he’d be able to take it but a lot of guys are pushing him a lot of

Guys are sort of bumping him and he’s not really getting a lot of those foul calls um I was watching the Houston game and saw a couple times you know Dylan Brooks was grabbing on them by the shirt and kind of you know yanking on them

Which is smart of Dylan you know if you’re gonna get away if they’re not gonna call it continue to do it but you know I think as maybe as Wy gets a little stronger as he gets in the league and gets a little bit more Prestige and

Respect you know those he’s going to start getting more of those calls yeah I know that’s part of the game the bumping but at the same time like if you’re pushing him to where you know W’s thin but he’s still pretty strong but you push him and yanking him to the point

Where he’s you know falling backwards you know typically that’s a a call but right now it’s not and again I wonder if if it’s the reverse sha thing where you know they think oh you know he should be able to take this so yeah um but you

Know I think when he comes back to San Antonio have the crowd behind him I think he’ll do better um you know and then plus Houston and of course the rockets and their fan base were so upset with wmy I think it was he smiling or laughing or nodding his head when

Houston want him getting the fourth pick so it’s gonna wind up being a great rivalry uh eventually you know with sangon and Thompson and the Spurs wmy and the Spurs uh it’s going to be a great rivalry I think it’s going to be like some of the

Old battles with the rockets and Spurs but Rockets definitely get up for playing the Spurs and you know I think the Spurs need to match that sort of uh it’s almost like a hatred so yeah now collectively the Spurs did get punked versus Houston Houston was just been

Very physical with them and the Spurs couldn’t overcome that but as far as wimy and singon that’d be a nice little kind of mini rivalry to see how that plays out you know every’s looking at Chad and wmy and I get that but sangon and I mean they’re only what they’re

Almost about the same age right I mean s’s gotta be like 2021 so um so that’d be something to watch for yeah and then when he was drafted you know sangon was the guy that I thought uh you know SP would get and I thought it was one of

The ones I hope then they got primo and I was like hey you know Primo’s a pretty good pick you know that at that time I thought Primo had a ton of potential you know guy that could be a superstar at the right situation and of course that

Other stuff happening you know and obviously they wish probably wish they had instead but you know you can’t there’s no way of knowing what that that’s gonna happen but uh sangon is a great player if he was playing for the Spurs you know I know bands would love

Him because he hustles plays hard uh but it’s gonna be a great rivalry I think between sangon and wemi because obviously sangun just doesn’t like uh to lose yeah but overall I I I think this is just a bad night for wimy it’s all it

Was I expect him to use it as fuel moving forward you know he’s very competitive I can definitely see him saying yeah s you 45 on me but check this out so I’m I’m anticipating just a whole lot of hurting waiting for singon in San Antonio and by the way Houston

Sucks on the road so should be a win for the Spurs yeah um you know it should be a you know great game uh you know Spurs fans you know have rocking fans have never liked each other um you know this should be a great game an exciting game

Having wmy obviously sort of Ratchet it up you know Rockets fans are still upset by wy’s reaction so it’ be a great game you know sanon’s gonna want to prove that you know it wasn’t a fluke W’s gonna want to prove that he you know

Sort of got lucky uh so I think they’re both gonna battle um I think Jeremy’s gonna have a big game that game I think jerem’s gonna remember what happened I think jerem’s gonna have a big game so it’s definitely a uh record-wise it’s not you know doesn’t look like a great

Game but it’s a game that I think fans should definitely go to because it’s GNA be really exciting sangon you got lucky you got lucky we’ll see what happens in round what three I guess or round four whatever round it is maybe wimy will get
