Apply and there should be terms and conditions for being a Brooklyn Nets fan doug because as they fall one 128 to 112 losing in Detroit and effectively ending any glimmer of hope of making that play tournament at least in our minds my goodness did this team just absolutely
Dumpster themselves tonight and the fan base effectively well when you make a list of the worst teams in basketball uh by record uh we can talk about who the have lost to among this group Pistons lost Hornets lost Wizards lost sure Blazers lost Grizzlies lost the only
Team that uh has stuck around in the not lost category are the Spurs the fighting Spurs everyone else in that group the Nets have lost to over the course of this season and it just it’s really not that surprising at this point right like at this point it’s you struggle to sort
Of see some hope with this team I mean we’re going to continue podcasting obviously all the way through the rest of the season we’re we’re ride or die here but uh this is another one in that list of things that’s happened with the nus season that really kind of makes you
Question both the shortterm and the longterm unfortunately like it’s you the short term fine like if you have if you could see some kind of Clear Vision but it get with losses like this it gets increasingly more difficult to see where that is yeah cam Johnson’s out yeah cam
Thomas is out I get it they’re missing some other guys every team has lost guys this season yeah like every team has lost players this season go through the players go through the teams just about every team has had good players Miss significant time yep and there so you
Just can’t use that as an excuse and at some point you just you have to it’s like look in the mirror time and this team just isn’t good and and the way you know they’re not good is by the record and the fact that they’ve lost all the
Bad teams this year Troy Pistons get to their 10th win of the season now a bow 10 and 52 here yeah tip of the cap to the uh Detroit Pistons really what this comes down to for me there’s a lot of stuff inside of this game but as we’re
Talking about who they’re playing against and what’s on the line for them and the fact that they start this game down 26 to eight and then have to have a 41 Point second quarter just to make this interesting only to end up I I mean this game it was Keystone Cops in the
Fourth quarter for both sides here you understand why Detroit is bad you’re seeing what’s happening for them and the Brooklyn Nets could do nothing to command this game and take care of it and for you and I both it comes down to in my opinion male Bridges right this is
Another troubling performance for him and I wanted to assert the question because I think we all we’ve talked about this before when you look at the the Nets when they take on any team in the league you go okay how many Brooklyn Nets would start for the other team rank
Male bridges on on both sides of the floor tonight where would he be in the hierarchy of Talent on the floor I think I was trying to push for him to be seventh in terms of guys that I would draft coming out of the Nets Pistons game tonight there’s obviously a lot of
Young toal on the side of Detroit that has high upside but when you look inside this box score and the Nets trying to claw their way back it wasn’t about it was about Dennis schruder going off in this one and M bridg is giving you 43
Minutes four of just 11 from the field three of seven from deep and a 13-point game it’s been terrible H there’s no other word for it I it’s been 3 game was such a mirage the other night you know Rel yeah and terrible compared to expectations right like supposed to be
Going to the season borderline Superstar gonna be the guy that other superstars want to play with told us over and over again right peram with some other guys in its champ Championship level and maybe that’s still true over the last uh month since February 1st is where I look
Back to uh since February 1 this is before this game ended it’s going to be lower now I just haven’t rerun it he was 61st in the NBA in points per game scoring 61st since and but you’re like okay is he getting into play well yeah
He’s played the 20th most minutes so uh like and he’s taking the 30 second most shots so he’s had plenty of shots and he’s had plenty of minutes and this just can’t score like you just can’t score anymore and I don’t know some of it’s scheme but no one even extra schemes
Against him like right like there’s no he doesn’t get trapped he doesn’t get doubled none of that stuff happens oh you want to say maybe there’s not a point guard that kind of like you know can run the offense I could probably hear a little bit of that sort of not
Really it’s just that he just has I don’t know if this is just like a wall because of how many minutes he’s played over the last almost all of his career you know played over the summer he’s tired he’s played a ton of minut this year there’s a lot of expectations he’s
Not meeting them there’s just a lot of like little warnings like little signs to me you know missing the free missing the free throw tonight right like a in a time where they could have gotten back into the game there’s just like it’s just been based on expectations bad there’s
Really no other way around there’s no other words for it it’s it’s really been one of the most disappointing parts and it’s been a really disappointing season overall for the team and I kind of in some ways hate to like put it all on his shoulders here because I think like I
Said with Bob we Bob windram we talked about with the other day and you know I’ve talked about many times I he’s just miscast like that’s the biggest problem he’s Miss he’s miscast in a role that he just looked for a little bit like he might be suited for but it’s just
Increasingly showing that he’s just not and you know the Peter Principle is you send to your level of high most incompetency or you know the first level of of incompetency and like that’s just where it is like he’s just not a first option on an okay team in terms of
Scoring and that’s really what we’ve seen over the last month 25 and 38 is are the Brooklyn Nets and and whether or not this is just about his performance whether it’s the fatigue Factor you mentioned about all the minutes that he’s played Doug had already said going
Back multiple weeks ago that they needed to be monitoring and curtailing his minutes down the stretch played 43 tonight but just to your point you know your point two listen there’s a fatigue factor I think if you’re male Bridges and and what you thought you were coming
Into in Brooklyn you’re a part of that problem you know quote unquote collectively and what what’s gone on here but I don’t think Mel Bridges thought that when he was tra in the trade package for Kevin Durant that he and his twin cam Johnson were going to
Come to Brooklyn and be a 25 and 38 Team Missing the playing tournament and staring down the barrel of what could be a very tumultuous offseason so I think he does become the poster child for this but it’s just indicative of of where this franchise is right now and it’s an
Absolute mess and I’m gonna bang this drum until the cows come home anybody that thinks you’re just going to walk into the off season and go get your Superstars and this thing’s all going to turn around I if I had to bet my I’ll stop betting Doug’s life if I had to bet
My life right now why why why would anybody make the active choice to come here and why if you’re the Brooklyn Nets in the front office would you make an active choice to sacrifice all the draft Capital that you have right now to go get a star to make yourself at best a
Mid-level team so honestly too I get a little concerned I get a little start interrupted here but like I know we’re going to talk about Simmons shortly but I do actually get a little concerned that this run is like hurting his overall value too like like that we’re
Just like that even if you re hierarchy him even on a superstar driven team you have to say well he’s a number maybe you thought he was number two now he’s a number three and and and a limited number three in terms of rle and expectation too right like this stretch
Has been really really rough and I and I just wonder if I mean NBA he still has tons of value so I I’m really not going to say that but the part where you’re turning down massive packages like are those going to go walk come back walking
Through the door I’m not sure about that and sometimes can get Overexposed and ever and like sort of like you know the if there you get Overexposed or you just start to figure out a little bit more because you know death by exposure can mean that you just
Hey we just saw too much of it now and we just kind of know that it’s not it’s not happening right we You’ given given ample opportunity and so I don’t think it’s all that and I do think fatigue has as a problem here I think it’s fatigue
Plus like just sort of like mental wear down this The Season’s been bad and you’d be it you’d be hard pressed to like have a really super positive attitude night in night out walking you know knowing all the stuff that’s happened with his team and at the same
Time he just has to be better and he hasn’t been and it’s just been a really disappointing stretch that being said coming up here in a second there was some other news for the Brooklyn Nets and that’s the Ben Simmons injury update guess what he’s not going to play any

Doug nor is not too sure he wants to go back down again maybe we’ll dive into it over there weot nets.com free ebook sign up today Ben Simmons let’s talk about it Doug this is always fun per the Brooklyn Nets Ben Simmons Medical Update Ben Simmons will remain out for the
Remainder of the Season while he consults with Specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back Simmons along with his representatives and the Net’s medical personnel excuse me as I get this fully up here along with his representative next medical personnel are currently in discussions with
Numerous experts to determine the course of action that will provide him with the best opportunity for long-term sustainable Health now you had mentioned his agent going back I think in our bonus episode on the last postgame taking a lot of responsibility around maybe what’s gone here gone on here for
Ben Simmons and pushing him to get back but just point stop it’s not that we’re surprised about it I’m gonna get into the way fans and people seem to be reacting to this on a personal level towards Ben Simmons but it’s obviously deflating on every level because now I
Think we are as fully entrenched in the reality that he may never step on the court again for the Brooklyn Nets let alone maybe a basketball court at this point yeah could kind of see it coming as late as Monday night uh when Bernie Lee talked to Ian bigley or maybe it was
Tuesday morning and had said like and this before the Nets made an announcement but came some like not so cryptic remarks about like sort of failing Ben Simmons and and not you know not getting all the treatment he needed or like whatever well I can’t remember the exact quotes but it was something
Like that but as soon as you heard that you’re like oh this is probably kind of know where this is going and lo and behold they announce it Thursday morning that he’s going to be out for this season so really not a surprise on that front if you’ve been following the Ben
Simmons piece at all this season about sort of just like how this was going in terms of injury timelines and things that kept C creeping up and you know the inj even the injury reports would kind of change recently it’s like oh it’s the leg it’s the knee it’s the back like it
They would change the injury reports not to say they were like Cloak and Dagger I think that there was just confusion or it’s just a lot of different stuff happening so really disappointing news um want to be really careful here because we’ve seen a lot of people do
This even like high profile people I find it pretty gross is to sort of conflate injury with um ego maybe I would call it or and it problem with the way that this is being discussed at the highest course of course yeah it’s and
And or or will to play or all this other stuff like people now it might be the case I don’t know like I I we try our hardest here to speak in the things that we know about for sure we know that he has been reported to heavy back injury
Right like we know that I do not want to and I think it is very poor form to be begin speculating on things that have not been reported about the W the ifs or the wise around his injury Y and it’s way too easy and people had an ABS with
Simmons especially have an absolute dunk contest on like why he’s not playing it might be maybe he doesn’t want I don’t know I don’t know like we we really don’t know but I think it’s really kind of gross to you know put someone’s personality in line with an injury
Because here’s the thing even if it’s true like what does it serve like I I like I’ll never understand what it serves and so long story short I guess we can talk I just want to get that part out of the way we could talk about the
Logistics of the Simmons thing and like sort of what it means for this team but obviously if you were still sort of riding on the hope that he could come back and and be sort of a gamechanging force for the Nets and be kind of a guy
They needed I think that’s pretty much gone like I we held out some hope I think you and I probably trended on the left side of pessimism with that right like about like never really believing it but I think this even if you were holding out any hope I think this is
Probably pretty much the end of the line and just on the way that it gets discussed as well like and we we’ve talked about this when it comes to performance of any player the value of a player relative to contract right always always look at the contract if you took
Away the the the status of Ben Simmons early in his career right the All-Star caliber player if you took away the fact that he’s making $40 million and you just talked about him as a player who has gone through this run of injury history over the last couple of Seasons
You would you would never have the discussions the way that people have been discussing it on a personality level on a the desire and all those things that you mentioned so could it couldn’t be any more lock step on that part of it and that shouldn’t be
Surprising to anybody if you listen to the podcast now the two sides of it are and this will probably extend into our closeout segment in the short term what I would say is for For Better or Worse not having been Simmons in terms of what it could mean for the team over the
Remainder of this season at least it’s no longer a factor or question now he’s not going to play the rest of the year we saw nolani get some minutes tonight Dron sharp is still dealing with injury right okay like we we we’ve advocated for young players getting more run
Already now you get to lean into that even going up the chain of veterans whether it’s Dorian finy Smith right the roles can now be cemented for this final run we just finished having a conversation they lost to Detroit and the season May effectively be over but at least from a developmental standpoint
You don’t have to do this jockeying anymore and that would be true for any player coming in and out of the lineup with injury because it just does create upheaval and specifically with Ben Simmons skill set you know that it can be disruptive to how your offense is
Going to run and and the acquiescing that kind of needs to go on there which seemed to be creating issues in more recent games relative to early in the season or when he first came back for the injury for this four game sample size yeah I suppose it’s better to know
From that standpoint just from a stability standpoint and it just really I mean we at a point now where it was very unlikely even if this wasn’t the thing that like there wouldn’t have been some other thing again only using track record to inform that opinion right it’s
Been the track record he’s played way less than he’s not played over the last two three years like he’s just he’s hasn’t played and I I you know even if we go back because then early on we got some push back because we were like really I we were really on the
Pessimistic side of Simmons um early on just from a availability standpoint going back to the summer I was like you know we were like hey it’s gonna it’ be great but you can’t rely on this at all right like we were very clear about that to the point where I mean some people
Get acly mad about it when you would say this it’s like hey how can you trust it um but the thing is if you go back you know he didn’t play it all in 2122 and he didn’t play it all he played 30 42 games last year and now he’s gonna
End up playing 15 but that 2122 season does count when you had to like try to like figure out how much he was gonna play because anytime you sit out a whole season that counts in the predictive nature of like how much you’re going to play going forward it just does like
When you don’t play it goes into the prediction so I think from that stand Point having it just be answered and done with probably allows for more just like understanding for the rest of the team and I think that’s fine with the understanding again that it was just probably going to happen anyway
Right like just give it give it five give it five more date games and it probably would have just happened because that’s basically been the track record no 100% and it was you mentioned over those three season 57 games played 189 games missed and so when you’re
Think it’s not a victory La piece it’s just being informed by what the data tells you and and that’s what it would have suggested that it was more likely that he would not play U at the over under when he initially had his injuries over the remainder of the Season more
Likely he’s going to miss more games than he’s going to be available for coming up here will not only highlight the play in tornament aspirations that we thought this team was going to cling to and why those feel effectively dead but also the off season and how this Ben
Simmons injury and the timeline going forward is going to be even more impactful for the Brooklyn Nets we’ll get into that in just one moment all right before we get to that we’ll tell you about our friends over at LinkedIn jobs when you’re hiring for your small business you want to find

Before we talk about let’s just Bri very briefly here in terms of the playing tournament you know we said this about the opportunities that this team had and the soft schedule here when you lose to the Memphis Grizzlies and then you lose the Detroit Pistons with a win against
The depleted 76ers sandwiched in between it it it just feels DOA now the the Atlanta Hawks are going to you should be disqualified you should be disqualified like like they should be like it doesn’t even feel DOA you should be disqualified if you lose to all those teams you don’t
Qu you guess what it doesn’t matter what your record you don’t get to make the playoffs sorry like we by the way we just had this conversation in our NBA channel meeting that we have with Nick angad who runs it you know locked on Mavs and a whole bunch of other hosts
And I brought this exact point about when you look at the back end even just the Eastern Conference I was like at some point here we talk about the playing tournament it’s going to become a problem when it’s the 28 and 34 Atlanta Hawks they’re be below 500 the
Chicago Bulls are under 500 right now the Nets 25 and 38 and we’re still talking about them being capable of making that play in tournament or at least up until tonight because they’re not mathematically limited like the NBA is gonna have a problem on their hands
To your point it’s like you perform this bad you don’t deserve it like you don’t deserve to have this manufactured way to maybe make it into the playoffs so with that loss and with Atlanta even though they have their own issues with Jaylen Johnson he went down with an injury they
Don’t have Trey young but they’re going to play Memphis tomorrow night what’ll be tonight if you’re listening to the podcast on Friday they get that win the Nets will be a full four games back I mean you know they are now four and seven over their last 11 so you can’t I
Can’t manufacture massage my way to a world where this team is going to win enough games because part of my whatever level of optimism it was was purely embedded in the fact that you looked at the schedule and said okay I can point out five six games against very bad
Teams you go in you give it everything you got you get a win because you’re more talented on paper and then we take it from there they took those games those winnable matchups and dumpstered them they dumpstered every the two of the three critical games here absolutely dumpstered themselves to go along with
The ones that you mentioned at the top of the show losing to Portland losing to the Hornets right like you just can’t string those together and as we mentioned before you can do it earlier in the season you don’t get to do it late you don’t get to do it now when the
Losses are are incredibly compounding relative to what the objective is here yeah it’s just like I I I actually just I want them to make it because it’s more fun and like but make it yeah but I’m just it’s deserve it is one of those things where if you like wrote the
Resume it’s like ah I don’t know it’s you know reading the resume you’re kind of like ah are there any other candidates because I want to be your representative for the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs I’m just gonna see and wait if more resum they submitted
Right they put the I’m G to see if more applications come in through our friends over at LinkedIn jobs like I’m just going to go ahead and see if more come in um and I you know if I use LinkedIn I know they’re going to yeah I just can’t
It’s just so you can’t make the case um you want to talk let’s talk a little offseason yeah so that that being said we’ll of course continue to cover the games and and when the Nets rattle off 10 straight wins in a row it’ll be the
Greatest moment of our lives uh the Ben Simmons injury then it was already a problem the money the contract next year $40 million $40 plus million dollar already going to be coming off the books but now that combined with the poor recent performance of male Bridges as we
Said maybe him coming down a little in the pecking order Cameron Johnson has come down in the pecking order in terms of what we thought he could be now you get to this off season you start looking around what were you know not bad contract well they’re not great
Contracts and then you have Simmons on the books now too and this I think brings us right back to the top where the where the the inspiration for Shawn marks if he’s still GNA be the GM for Joe Sai should be sell sell sell sell sell sell because like you’re what are
You going to manufacture this off season you have between male Bridges Cameron Johnson and Ben Simmons what almost a hundred million dollars tied up into them whether or not you think Nick Claxton should be a part of the long-term future can you even make an informed decision about him in this
Offseason what are you going to do with Cent Thomas like all these pieces and it just ties me back to that rebuild that we thought they should have been committed to at the trade deadline they’ll still have the option to do it but we’ve said this before about Shawn
Marx when it comes to the decision-making process it has felt like several years over he has been a trade deadline behind or an offseason behind schedule on some things and it doesn’t look like it’s getting any prettier as they head to this off season yeah I mean
I guess you really have to pretty pretty much look at 2025 like I actually don’t even know how you can look at this next year you know the summer of 2025 I mean um like I don’t know how you can look at next year this next year with what the P
The deck chairs they have that currently aboard the Titanic and think about how you’re gon to move them around to to get the ship to stop sinking like I I just don’t you know they’ll make a decision on Claxton Bridges is clearly staying like they’re not gonna trade him and
Simmons let I’m just going to say this as clearly as I can um and I’ve don’t really have another way to say this there’s no Val be kind Doug but be kind because the biggest thing everyone says is not everyone the biggest push back that you hear with Simmons is well
He’s an expiring contract so the contract has value okay that either means we have different definitions of value and I’m using the Webster’s Dictionary definition of it so someone else has like a different definition I was using the new something that is worth something basically um there’s no I get everyone
Wants to say well it’s expiring contract EXP exping contracts don’t just magically produce Superstars that come back in yeah sometimes expiring contracts have some value when you can buy the player out right that’s not gonna happen he’s never gonna get bought out um when that player can actually take the court for
Your team for a few minutes over the course of he doesn’t play right and so and then not to mention the pr hit that your team will take by trading for Ben Simmons like sort of no matter what yeah right because you’re like we’re Trad and the
Amount that you would have to attach to the contract to even get another team to consider taking it as an expiring to me is beyond what most GMS would have the appetite for I think right like because there’s just so many things that go along with it so anyone that wants to
Say well the values in the expiring contract please point to me the the I’m being serious about this point to me the expiring contract of a player who didn’t play right that was worth this much money that brought back anything of value that there are there aren’t they
Don’t those examples don’t exist they don’t exist like there are contracts that are expiring that get that bring back guys those guys all still play right like they’re all still taking the court or they’ve agreed that they’re going to get bought out because they’re
Going to move on to like a you know a playoff team or something like that yeah those examples happen this this isn’t that this isn’t that he doesn’t play he doesn’t play and so I’m I love the example because I would love to be able
To use that as the the you know the lamp post at which I lean when I’m trying to shine light on like this situation but I just cannot find an example of a like legit zero at this much money who got traded for anything and the only the only little minute
Footnote that I’ll put to this is how much money of his contract at next year’s trade deadline will already have been paid by Brooklyn right so you’re not going to be talking about sending out $40 million it’ll be whatever’s remaining everything else that you’re indicating though I agree with and by
The way if his contract was $5 million it would still create the right circumstances for another all you’re just taking the money that’s what you’re taking and it would still it let me let me rephrase this it could help facilitate something yes but you are going to have to pay yeah to facilitate
$100 on the dollar to get to to to move it like that’s what I mean so like yes it might help the the calcul you know it might help the columns match up to make sure the money can go but you will have to attach extra to have that be the
Money that’s what I’m saying and let’s do and let’s let’s uh let’s walk through an example of this before we close out it be the let you know everyone says male Bridges right uh sorry uh Donovan Mitchell right let’s bring him in this summer and let’s just say let’s say that
It’s five first round picks out of the nine that they have lined up for them right now add another one and maybe more to use Ben Simmons in a sign and trade scenario you know all that stuff to help facilitate it right so now you’re the Brooklyn Nets and you’re going to be
Making that type of choice to say anybody Donovan Mitchell or otherwise are we willing to attach even more to put Ben Simmons money into the mix for that to bring in a player that we think can help this team and then be staring down the barrel of not having control of
Any of your own draft picks going forward basically probably not have really any remaining of real high value at least in the next couple of years and then the roster is the roster and I actually think that that’s you and I have often talked about how you can’t
Double spend the assets right and maybe they’re gonna ask for male Bridges and to trade a team if you want to go get a superstar anyway but this is the other part of it you’re the Nets have are going to want to move the Ben Simmons
Money if they’re going to bring in a superstar because they already said they’ve already said it by the way like Brian Lewis or I think Brian Lewis said it they’re like hey they might look into doing that this summer okay you can’t have1 million doll on your books to
Start and then bring in another 3545 million player on top of that and then fill out your roster Etc so it’s going to become all of your draft Capital to get rid of Ben Simmons and bring in a superstar effectively like I I can really see that being the kind of death
Nail move that they would need to make in order to get Beyond this and they seem like they’re committed to that to your point before about like Mel Bridges by all indications it’s not going anywhere so if he’s not going anywhere then that’s the next move here that the
Nets are going to make in the off season to go get a star and probably deplete almost all of what they’ve built up through the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving trades yeah and look ways that I could be wrong about this for sure would be like he does agree to a buyout I
Don’t I’m saying I don’t think he will he he could I don’t think he will I if I was his agent I would advise him not to but like um because we might be entering the medical that that medical um territory like the Chicago Bulls with
Ball in terms of the Brooklyn Nets and what has be such a bad injury it has to be so bad to get there like and I’m not sure this is going to qualify and so or you’ll get clarity on it until well through the off season as well right
There’s there’s the wave and stretch provision um but then you you you keep that money on your books over five years and I don’t know if the Nets really want to do that like it might just be better to let it expire right than like over five eight million a year over five
Years right to like just have that sit on your on your cap for for the next five years right um so I don’t think that I don’t think that’s and you have to agree to do that in like a window I believe like during the summer um you
Can maybe do it at the trade deadline too but I think they wouldn’t want to do that because like on the probably faint hope that he comes back or something like that right so I to not to not have but you just you don’t want to have the
Money on your books over over five years for sure yeah and so like I think you wouldn’t do that um and look I there’s and there’s one more version of this where they could trade him but it’s not something the Nets are gonna want to hear so like it’s going to be something
Like the money coming back is even worse potentially like like like an example like this would be like Zack LaVine like hurt Zack LaVine on a foot surgery who makes 50 million three years from now the Bulls might be like okay we would do that but would the Nets want to do
It we walk through the scenario months ago about how and this is why so now to your point you’re trading another another potential injury problem that now prolongs how long you might pay that player that’s the silver lining of Ben Simmons like well at least we we know
When the end is it’s one more my only Point here is that okay so my final point I’ll wrap this up because we’re gonna keep going long but like my point here is I’m not saying that it can’t happen mhm I’m just saying it’s not valuable that that’s all like like
Calling it a value because it’s an expiring contract is just missing the forest for the trees as far as I’m concerned like you don’t and I took us I took us down a more detailed Rabbit Hole there but at that very high this is a narrative that but to your point it’s a
Narrative that is getting put out there it Val value Again by the definition of the word something that has worth like no it does not it can be a part of something they do but you’re never going to look at that $40 million this offseason for Ben Simmons contracts next
Year and say oh thank goodness now because we have that we can go do this amazing decision that we want to make so right exactly like it just right so I just it’s it’s good to be clear about that okay we’re gonna get out of here uh much appreciated everyone you know kind
Of rolling through the rest of the season look doesn’t win lose hurt injured healthy coaches GM whoever’s here whoever’s not we’re going to be here every day that we’re here we’re here that’s that’s all that matters we’re going to be here every day does not matter what the outcomes of the game are
We are going to be here make sure you grab that free ebook over at we got Nets make sure you like And subscribe over on YouTube too uh I haven’t said that in a while so let’s just get those YouTube numbers continuing to climb over 7,000 just in case anyone’s wondering yeah
Come on there you go so like And subscribe over on YouTube such is an actor’s life we must ride the waves of every film barfing occasionally yet maintaining our dignity even as the bulk of our Herculean efforts are Keel hauled for our very eyes why that is Bruce
Campbell oh Evil Dead one of the alltime great poets we’re back again next week talking more Brooklyn that’ss basketball basketball basketball basketball basketball basketball basketball basketball yeah
Mikal Brdges has beed miscast as the number one option in Brooklyn, and in a must win game to keep their play-in tournament alive – the Nets looked as bad as their 25-38 record would suggest.
The brutal loss was only further compounded by the injury update for Ben Simmons who will be shut down fo the remainder of the season.
Doug and Adam dicuss what it means in the short term, and how it will shape the Nets offseassn.

Iām not even mad. Iām honestly just looking ahead toward the offseason. Ben Simmons is full of shit and he will be out of the league within 8 months or less. No team will want his ātalentsā. As far as the team as a wholeā¦come on. We werenāt making the playoffs. If we make the play in it would be a miracle. Iām done with Mikal. Heās averaged 15ppg on 37% in the last 10 games. Heās obviously not our star we projected him to be. Canāt wait for what Sean Marks has to give us this offseason š
BKN shouldve traded mikal to HOU when they had the chance
We went I 2021 having a super team to 3 years later dennis Schroeder being the most reliable player . Bridges looks bad looks like spencer did earlier like he checked out he rather be with his friends brunson hart on the knicks he looks depressed.
Cunningham got hot as nets played their worst 1/4 for the year. Bridges looks like he wants out.
I don't understand why NOW everyone thinks that bridges is "not him". What changed??? Houston TRIED to give y'all the moon for him and you acted insulted?!? The nets continually make bad decisions
Iāve said this earlier with plenty of experience in this field. Lower back issues donāt ever go away. Surgery can only relive nerve impingements until the next impingement. Ben was traded with no proper due diligence done with MRI scans (disc protrusions only visible via MRI). He is not going to get better ever. This is career ending.
No chemistry, thank god we got rid of JV. :/
Well no more nets game for me until next year. Which is sad, I've literally built my schedule at time around the games, not to mention consuming content around the team. At least ill get ~10 hours a week back, time to focus on studying so I can get a promotion. Trying to become a sys admin this year, wish me luck fellas. I'll still hop on to listen to you guys while I'm working out though.
No way Clax and Lonnie will re-sign now. Tragedy. We will dig out of this, Bridges needs to take a few weeks off.
Only Ben could go from Max Deal to out of the league. Benny has no heart he will keep collecting dem checks then retire in his 20's once the deal is over
Ben asked to be traded to a California team when he was in Philly. He just doesnāt wanna be in Brooklyn š¤·
I'd like to split 10 milly between Adam and Doug and I'll keep the rest of the 20 mil, to distribute to the real Nets. Any objections?
I love mikal. Great human being. But I knew well before this trade deadline that he does not that āH1Mā leader type build. And itās okay, I wonāt ever hold that against him. He aināt ask to be here but my frustrations with marks is growing sooo fckn much. I would much rather lose with picks than lose with nothing. You going into billy king territory marks

Seasons officially over
This team is 5+ years away at least from making the playoffs again
Doug; expiring contracts have value. For example, using Ben's expiring contract as salary filler in a trade. Also correct me if I'm wrong couldn't we create a trade exemption with moving Ben's expiring contract?
Adam do you really believe it would Take "5 + 1" First Round picks?
The Nets goose is cooked for now and for some time to come. There is a lesson to be learned here going back to the Kyrie, KD, Harden era. When you invest everything you have to obtain a group of superstars, you have to do everything you can to keep them happy and together, otherwise you end up where we are right now. If you are not willing to do that, then build with what you have. At a minimum, the Nets should have let Kyrie play in all the away games during the vaccination year. That may have made a difference, I donāt know.
Se la vie.
I donāt see anything to be gained by keeping Sean Marks as GM.
Our chances to make the playoffs are not over, not even close. There's plenty of basketball to be played. Bridges has been and was last night very disappointing. I don't understand why he has to guard the other team's best player and then be our number one option on defense also. Let Finney Smith guard the other team start player so bridges can have more energy on offense.
Most disappointing part of season for me is Dariq Whitehead. I had a lot of hope for him. I thought he'd bring in youthful energy & 3 pt shooting at the very least. Now who knows what to expect.
Ben deserves to get sent to Ohio to finish his career next season.
No way Sean attaches any picks to get rid of Ben. Heāll just let him expire
Sick to my stomach over this team. Kevin Ollie is not going to be the coach next season.
So happy we didn't get that massive pick package in the Bridges trade.
I believe if the Nets waive Simmons via the stretch, it would be double the length plus 1 year, so 3 yrs at over 13 million a year. I could be wrong though
1 rebound in 43 minutes for a starting SF and a "core" building block is downright embarrassing. DFS and Bridges, the Nets starting 3/4, had a combined TWO rebounds with about 7 mins left in the 3rd quarter
Is it me or is Bridges not clutch at all? It seems like he missed free throws at critical points late in the game ALL the damn time like WTH!! Not a cornerstone player at all.
Finally admitting there was never going to be a a run to the playin.
Nets should have blown it up. Expect shawn marks to be fired come offseason. Trade claxton. Sign shooters. Get younger
I also told them he came to us without proper diagnosis and tx for his back. Every impingement every person is different. I don't want ppl being cruel to him about this again. Nor should we make assumptions. Let it be.
