Wizards well they made 163 six of them came in the fourth quarter when they went 6 for nine Miami scored 62 points in the paint got 27 Off the Bench but the heat fell behind by 10 with 2 and A2 minutes left in the game they would
Score eight straight points they had a Jimmy Butler look at three to win it but it bounced off and missed and the heat loses a game you can really not afford to lose at any point in the season but especially in the month of March at home where the heat haven’t played well
Enough all year to a Wizards team that ends an eight-game losing streak and John here here’s the thing on my mind this is the third straight loss it’s the third straight game the he’ have been outscored uh by a pretty good margin in the second half the third straight game
They’ve given up at at least 60 points they gave up 62 points to the Wizards in the second half yeah I thought the defense was the issue and you heard me say that throughout the broadcast you can’t play um basket and exchange basket with basket with this team this team
Will lull you into that game uh you know they’re a really poor defensive team so they’ll almost at times gift you some baskets but you got to dig in and and once they got comfortable this is playing with fire with these poor teams uh with bad Records who at the end of
The year playing loose and free you let them hang around all of a sudden they catch fire and they get hot we saw that uh in the fourth quarter uh being able to knock some really important shots down so this is one that really is magnified right now because it’s one
Loss but it feels like it’s even worse than that it feels like almost two or three because this is a game when you look uh at the schedule you got to win I mean you know they’re so bad right now uh from A standings perspective uh
They’re in a tank typ mode you got to win these games you you mentioned the defense tonight being lacking I’m going to mention the offense because the Wizards are the worst defensive team in the league they give up on an average 100 24 game the heat only scored 110
Just not good enough on either end and John the fourth quarter for Washington you let an underdog smell it and they sealed it going six of nine from downtown on the final 12 yeah their three-point shooting was Tor and they got comfortable as I talked about now you see the confidence growing they’re
Feeling it they’re moving the basketball well their spacing was was really good they got some quality looks uh and were able to make six more threes overall than Miami but six in that fourth quarter alone uh was huge 29 Points to me in the fourth quarter you can’t give
That up um and defensively to a team of this stature and letting a team like this hang around you just never know what’s going to happen well there you see Miami outscored in in the fourth quarter by three outscored in the second half by eight 62 to 54 the wizard shot
53% in the second half and had 11 of their 16 triples the first thing I want to do is give Washington credit they just ended a 16 game losing streak on on Friday and you know we we listen to their coach Brian Keef before the game
Say hey we we fought through that losing streak we’re just trying to focus on improving this is going to be a big test for us against an organization we respect but John the heat just did not have enough to to beat a team that came in with the League’s worst record yeah I
Thought I thought Washington to their credit really shared the basketball well space the floor as I referenced uh the quality of the shots they got was was great uh we talked about and touched on uh tyus Jones I mean this is the guy who’s got the best assist turnover ratio
In the league he was orchestrating the offense in an incredible clip uh the 16 assists one turn and one turnover I mean this they played very efficient they were able to get quality looks and and again hang in there and then get to a point where in the game if they started
Making shots at the end they were going to get the win and that’s exactly what happens and this is just the the greatest example of a game where when you look on paper and you say this should be a win you have to play the games from start to finish the players
Are too good in this league if they get hot if they feel confident they can rip off shots at the end of the game and and beat you any night John you played point guard in the league for 11 years you know a good one when you see one tus
Jones one of the most underrated point guards in the league and speaking of ball distribution they had 35 assists until they play again and John you you you’re thinking about got to get the the ones you’re supposed to get well Miami has lost 14 of the last 16 regular
Season games against Denver eliminated by the nuggets in the NBA finals last year four games to one in rolls Nico yic and a Denver team that just beat Miami within the last 10 days work a tall order on Wednesday night very talented team yic just incredibly special the way
He puts his uh imprints on the game scoring passing assisting and boy they got great size and athleticism in every position so it’ll be a real challenge for Miami on Wednesday night yeah it’s a tough one the he going to have to live with this with a day off Monday and
Tuesday as they prepare for the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night we still have one game left with the Wizards that’s later this month in Washington def Ron’s going to rewind for your eyes Amy’s working on her angles and we will continue our celebration of our colleagues here at 601 BC boulev
It’s women’s history mon here’s Ron I’m Jason and uh that one stinks and stings all at the same time it’s not to have full disrespect for Washington obviously they’re coming off their first win in 16 games on Friday night and so feeling good about themselves uh but the heat uh
Had deemed this an important week and it’s definitely not the way they wanted to start it a couple of things hats off to Washington and uh you play these teams late in the season they have nothing to lose they’re coming in free willing and this is a good
Offensive team they’ve been a good offensive team all year long uh even though we held them under their number they and they’ve been but they struggled defensively so mightily but tonight we just couldn’t we we really struggled offensively we can say what we want about our defense um it wasn’t
Terri it wasn’t good but our offense really struggled we had a very hard time tonight and then we gave them some life down the stretch and uh they made those two big threes and got that 10-point lead and made it stand up if it was only
Just those two though coach ex a handle let’s go to the arrer stars of the game and take a look at exactly how it all went down for Washington yeah the Stars the fact they hit six of nine from the edges in the last four minutes coach and
That will break anybody’s back even though that he had that 80 push back at the end this was just too much to overcome yeah three those threes at the end would look it was a four-point game with a little over about three and a half to go and it turned into a 10-point
Game in a minute and uh there just wasn’t enough time left at the end we had a couple of decent looks but I never felt we had Rhythm offensively all night long and one of the things that’s dangerous I mentioned this at the the timeout break right right before the
Halftime when you get into a game against a team like this who simply they want to outscore you they they don’t want to defend that much we could even be harsher that’s all they can do well they they want just not trying to defend they just want to go up and down it’s
What I call a windshield wash kind of game okay and what happens is you get so many gaps in their defense you get you what look like a lot of easy shots early in the shot clock and they’re not bad shots but you’re playing their game and
They get a rhythm and they get it going and look they had 35 assists tonight uh they averaged 28 a game which is pretty good number and tyus Jones with the 16 assist and one turnovers were spectacular so um you know it was a little bit all of it was a little bit
Too much for us to handle take us two of those plays late all right here we go uh so now it’s you know closing in on a three and a half minute Mark we’re down four I a double okay this is KM via here’s Cris bit roll
It so we get to switch hold it we get to switch right here okay that’s a tough matchup but anyhow this is not what what hurts us now see Jones sees bam up a little bit maybe a little bit too high watch the pass roll it stop see bam took
Another step up as soon as he took that other Step Up concerned about this penetration now look where he is all right roll it stop there’s the pass this guy right here he’s a 40% three-point shooter iidea this kid can shoot the basketball and Bam doesn’t really close out with a
Sense of urgency watch it now roll it he stops short now he challenges it’s too late run it back so the shot clock is running down the shot clock is at 11 okay when the pass is made roll it stop right now you can’t stop see bam
Hops stops and then reaches you got to run right into his top shoulder right there take away the three if he drives put him on the B Caleb sits down in here so what happens now is Jimmy is pre- rotating towards ad right here he’s worried about
This pass right there Watch What Happens roll it Jones picks up his dribble he stop see he sort of pump fakes and TRS Jimmy right here that’s a pre-rotation and what happens when you pre-rotate if the next guy doesn’t pull with you on time this is going to be open now this
Is not an easy three don’t get me wrong but Duncan is going to come and it’s going to be too late roll it he’s going to just raise and let go with the shot clock running down and he buries that three and that made it 110 100 with 241
Left to play only two of seven threes went down for kzo it was the one that they needed he Fore Oh oh e For for For spee Fore Foree M For Fore spech speech looke For Ch for
