And then Sunday evening the LA Clippers unable to return the flavor down missing Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and yet the Bucks were still able to come out on top 124 117 the win prior to that without Giannis 113 106 let’s start there Camille what did this team show us

In that win against the Clippers without Giannis in the lineup without Giannis in the lineup they show that they can put it together get stops and make timely buckets in that first game without Giannis it was really the Daman Lillard show and he got a lot of help from Malik

Beasley along the way but you saw Dame take control of that game down the stretch and in comparison to today’s game against the Clippers where you’re seeing the chemistry with Dame and Giannis develop uh the first matchup was really like can Dame can you help carry

This team and that’s part of why you love to have a Damen Lillard on your team why you make that type of trade so that if your top dog is out or maybe playing injured just not feeling like himself you have someone else to lean on and Damen Lillard is really the answer

Uh to how the Bucks were able to get the win the first time without Giannis and he’s a big part as to why they were able to get the win today again with yanis on the court alongside with them they’re now 11 and nine in the Doc Rivers era a

Bit of a rough start than then really hot right out of the All-Star Break um kind of and one of the things we’ve seen some some of the reporting some of the discussion around the team that doc was a little surprised at some of the things that they that they really weren’t doing

To kind of put Dame and Giannis in better positions to be successful under previous head coach Adan Griffin so kind of what’s the impact been like so far from Doc in kind of unlocking or maybe stabilizing this Buck team a little bit the biggest thing has been on the

Defensive end with this team and making this team be a higher communicating team than what they were previously like Doc came in and he was like he asked the team hey in your opinion would you say you’re a low communication team kind of in the middle or a high communication

Team and all the players were like we’re a low communication team so that was one thing that he really did decide to work on with this team team in addition to that uh just making sure that guys understood and knew what was expected of them what their roles were and what

Their responsibilities were going to be on the defensive end of the Court you see a lot of times when guys don’t speak on defense and lot a lot of times it’s because they just don’t know what’s expected or where they should be so they don’t feel com comfortable speaking and

Now you see guys pointing out where people need to be because the Bucks have been switching a lot more under doc as well and they switched a good amount under Adrien Griffin but you’re seeing them switch more and to pull that off successfully you have to talk and you

Have to be aware of your assignments you’ve seen them do that dcus also just came in and kind of cleaned up some of the lower hanging fruit with this team helping them be better hey get back in transition defense I don’t want to see guards above the three-point line

Crashing for boards like just get back uh seeing that effort with them has been a big piece of it as well they’ve been better defending in the paint uh better with rebounding just a lot of the little things that you would look at like hey why didn’t you like this is you didn’t

Know to do this before and it’s like they just needed some clear Direction on what their roles were and Doc also came in and told guys like one by one here’s your role and what is expected of you and now guys can really star in that

Role and one thing that I’ve Loved with Doc coming in which again if you would told me in May when the Bucks fired Mike buher that doc was going to be the head coach I would have said we got Doc Rivers at home why are we doing

This when you see the team under Adrien Griffin and now under doc you understand why that is and one thing he’s been really hammering home is that Giannis Dame Twan game because he’s like this should be way more lethal than what it is and Dame said that the team has

Actually had times where they’re laughing at Dame and Giannis in practice because Doc is forcing them just by themselves just Dam and Yannis on one end of the Court hey run this action over and over now you shoot now you pass run the action over and over so they’ll

Spend like five minutes every practice the two of them really working on on their chemistry and now you’re starting to see that payoff in game with Doc Rivers now kind of kind of at the helm and and obviously still there’s still you know some transitional kind of bumps

And you know learning curve and all that from going from Adrien Griffin to Doc especially in midseason it’s always tough to make a coaching swap mid-season but do you feel like this team is better equipped or Worse equipped to deal with the pressures of of of playoff

Basketball or the jury still kind of out right now at this point both is that an acceptable both if you can explain your both answer then we’ll see we’ll see if it’s an accept no I’m just messing with you all right so both what why both so both because I

Mean one of the the critiques on Doc Rivers coach teams is playoff performance and if he’s going to be able to make enough adjustments at this time we don’t know if that is going to be the case for this bugs team we won’t know until we get to the playoffs to see

Exactly how things look but when you see how this team is currently constructed and how they’re playing I’m not going to lie to you earlier in the season I thought they didn’t have the Personnel to play good defense doc has come in and you’ve seen the changes that he’s made

And they are playing good defense with largely the same Personnel that they had to start the season outside of the addition of Patrick Beverly who of course uh you bring him in he gives a lot of energy to the team at Edge to him and during his minutes on the court he

Is effective defensively but it’s not as if Pat be has come in to play 30 minutes a night for this team it’s largely still Malik Beasley Damien Lillard at the point of attack and the team has just been more connected on defense so a little bit of both I feel better about

This team seeing them under dock than I did under Adrien Griffin but the jury is still going to be out until we get to the playoffs to really see how all of this comes to be and if the proper adjustments can be made in game time in

Talk about postseason basketball we have to kind of address a bit of the elephant in the room here which is obviously Doc Rivers has had his postseason struggles and even last season this Bucks team was embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs how much pressure is there on

Giannis and the kind of the the repeat members of this Bucs team the guys who were there in that locker room last season to kind of exercise their playoff demons this go around I think they have they know they’re playing with pressure and they’ve mentioned that throughout

The season where coming out of the break or around the break I can’t remember exactly the right time frame there but it was mentioned that Jan said hey guys like let’s focus on now like we know where we’re trying to get to but we need

To have fun and live in the moment now if we’re just worried about the Final Destination like it’s not we’re not going to actually get there like we have to put in the time enjoy the steps day by day but they are fully aware and that’s the thing when you’re playing

With expectations you can even feel it within the fan base of the Milwaukee Bucks where for the large churches of the Season there were fans saying like I’m not having fun watching this team because I don’t think they can win a championship which is a complete change

In mentality for bugs fans after the championship before that I mean you think of the Brandon Jennings years where it’s like hey we can make it we can be an 8C like that’s a that’s a successful season that’s no longer the case here in Milwaukee where now it’s expected championships that’s what we’re

Playing for and the Bucks make that very clear uh the level of urgency they have to get that Championship given the fact they paying Mike boser Adrien Griffin and Doc Rivers right now uh three head coaches when only one can coach her at a time just goes to show the level of

Urgency the organization has and the players obviously feel that as well last thing that I have well side note is the is the equipment manager doing a better job washing the clothes yes J did shout him out he said he’s been great they need a raise he said that’s incredible I

Love that uh last thing for you here Camille what’s the latest update on Chris Middleton and ideally you know what would you like to see hopefully from him you know if he can get back into the lineup before the postseason actually arrives yeah he’s close he’s close what we keep hearing we’ve heard

That he was close for about a week week and a half now but now it seems like he’s really really close at this point uh Eric named from the athletic a do rivers on Friday uh when do you think we might see you know Chris and Doc

Mentioned that Chris was going to be going through a very hard workout on Saturday which was yesterday of this recording and when asked about the workout today Doc Rivers said that Chris had a really great workout looked really good looked great so he’s getting closer and as I mentioned close to what we’ve

Been hearing but it does seem like Chris Middleton should be returning to the lineup within the next week or so would be just a healthy guess based on uh Doc Rivers mentioning that we’ve been ramping up practices he looked good came out of it really well he’s on the road

Trip with the team right now they have one more game to finish this four game Road Trip in Sacramento so we might see him then but if we don’t see him in Sacramento I would think that we’d see him sometime uh when the Bucks return home to Milwaukee how will the Bucks
