Regardless how you feel about Tatum, awesome to see Mazulla have his guy’s back.

The Celtics have hacked the secret to having excellent front office and coaching staff.

Danny Ainge, Brad Stevens + <insert any coach> turn into a superpower.

26 on 9/23 shooting, 2/8 from 3 against the tanking blazers as a supposed mvp candidate and he’s being compared to tyrese maxey when all the media tells me is that he’s supposedly better than kawhi

most coddled star in the league

  3. indoninjah

Love Maxey but feel like Tatum should be held to a higher standard lol

  4. RylanKura

Tatum went 9/23 Fg with 2/8 from 3 in a blowout vs tanking Blazers. We’re going to hold “Mvp candidate” Tatum to the same standards as Tyrese Maxey!?

  5. Nsfwaccount123xd

Comparing “MVP candidate” to Maxey now 😭

People just box watch when it comes to Tatum , and don’t properly understand his impact. The Celtics are winning at a historic rate because of him sacrificing his numbers. It’s clear when he consistently scores at worse efficiency  than the other all nba guys he gets compared to, when his decision making and playmaking skills are constantly under par for a ball handling heavy wing, it’s just him allowing his teammates to thrive. Impact metrics might not show Tatums but we do.

26/5/8 on 49% TS. That’s a terrible day for Jokic Giannis or Luka but a pretty good one for Tatum. That’s why he’s not in the running for MVP

  8. dafire123

Lmao I’m so sick of this shit. Just get me HCA and to the playoffs. Tatum won’t get any credit till he wins a chip. So this is all pointless talk.

  9. Wentzsylvania13

Mazzulla seems to have a lot of really snarky responses to questions he doesn’t like.

Kinda reminds me of Doc when he was with the Sixers. Don’t like the question? Just insinuate that the reporter is an idiot for asking it.

  10. Xekshek33

Classic Joe vs Gary Washburn back and forth

  11. A-Confused-Comet

For non Celtics fans, this isn’t even abt Tatum or Maxey, Mazulla has a beef with a local reporter named Washburn, and arguing against Washburn in anyway is a good thing, he is almost like McMohan is to Mavs, creates too much controversy

  12. Accurate-Albatross34

I respect having his players back, but this is pretty absurd lol. Does he think we should hold every single player to the same standard?

  13. AuroraPo

Joe Mozzarella defends Jayson Tomato. They do go hand in hand after all.

  14. Tatum internet defense squad in full force the past week lmao

  15. sickfalco

Bro plays too soft. He needs to bully people inside more.

  16. TheLeoMessiah

It’s him being snarky specifically to Gary Washburn. Washburn had some kind of snarky question/article earlier this year when we lost to the Sixers, that’s what Joe is referencing specifically. Not a dis at Maxey, it’s a dis at the reporter

  17. all4whatnot

Tyrese Maxey is the happiest fucking guy on the plant. Don’t harsh his mellow Joe Mazzula.

  18. No-Equipment-20

I don’t understand what he’s saying, can someone explain it in “The Town” terms?

  19. veerkanch489

Who is calling Maxey an MVP candidate lol?

  20. Below avg game after beating a team by 20+, non-story

  21. Bellerophonn

Hey, Tatum had 26, 8, and 5 we should give him the MVP

meanwhile, Jokic has 35 17 12 6, and Luka probably dropping 30+ points triple-double somewhere else.

  22. tshawytscha

Maxey’s our sweet boy! You be nice now!

  23. SoupyLogan

Tatum MVP propaganda is almost as bad as Embiids from last season

  24. Joe will not tolerate slander of his players. I like it, but you can keep it real too

  25. bootyholebrown69

I mean Tatum obviously is capable of more

But a few bad games don’t mean shit. Tatum will be fine. He’ll be better than fine.

  26. bootyholebrown69

26 8 and 5 is not even bad. Efficiency was low. Who cares. Tatum will be fine.

  27. CommunityGlittering2

in what league is Tatum a legitimate MVP candidate, come on

  28. Ok_Zombie_8307

It sounds like he’s saying Maxey is an MVP candidate, is that what he’s saying?

  29. 1. Nowhere does Mazzulla call him an MVP candidate, that was OP who added that in.

    2. You guys are actually mad his coach defended him ?

    3. Washburn is a known dickhead in Boston Media, who’s most famous for intentionally trying to create issues with the Celtics. Mazzulla is only reacting this way because it’s him specifically who asked him that question.

I don’t know a single rational Celtics fan that thinks he deserves to be MVP this year

  30. Patient_Bar3341

I love Maxey, but he ain’t no MVP. If this is the best his coach could do to defend his case then it’s Joever for Tatum’s MVP case.

  31. Drawing_The_Line

Oh man, this comment section is amazing, like a heavyweight fight… The Haters of r/NBA vs the Thin Skinned Celtics Green Teamers!

  32. bmanley620

I like him defending his player and also being sassy. Keeps things interesting

  33. Nuclearsunburn

Tatum is as much an MVP candidate as Kanye was a presidential one in 2020

  34. livefromphilly

I kinda see his point I guess but 26 ain’t “unstoppable” for Maxey, either. Dude had two 50 point games this year alone.

He shoulda just thrown Tobias Harris under the bus instead.

  35. Winter_Corner7254

Where is Will Smith to tell him to keep Maxey’s name out of his mouth

  36. Manic-Finch781

Stop it with the MVP candidate (this coming from a C’s fan)
