[Holtzman] Alec Burks as a Knick (13 games) is at 28% usage (95th percentile for a wing, above Julius Randle’s season usage), and is at 84 points per 100 shot attempts (2nd percentile for wings). Extreme inefficiency at super high volume = impossibly bad.

I was a Burks truther.. that dude is fried.

It would have been nice to have kept Grimes and given up the Dallas pick or something for just Bogi. Of course hindsight is 20/20 and no one knew Burks would be so terrible, he was looking good in Detroit.

Still, this move was made to secure backups that could just keep the ball rolling on the offensive end when Brunson or Randle sit. They’re not meant to play as many minutes they have been playing. Until I see how they play when at least Randle comes back, I’m not writing it off as a bad move.

  4. To be fair to Burks he’s mostly our bench guy so that’s Bojan, Deuce, Precious, Sims? I like Deuce but he isn’t yet automatic on pulling the trigger on open looks and when Brunson’s out Burks takes over at PG. Bojan is buckets when he gets it going but he’s been struggling when guys moved away from Sims and Precious to double him. Not much Burks can do but jack 3’s or try to make something happen in the paint and neither has worked well at all.

  5. I was feeling nauseous before reading this, and now it’s actually about to spew all over

I can’t handle this guy anymore

Once his contract is done after this season, I think his career is over. He’s got no shot at getting another role, unless it’s on a really bad team.

Impossibly bad might be my new favorite insult for a player lmao

I have no problems with him backing up deuce. He shouldn’t see a minute in the floor when the squad’s healthy though

Just want to remind everyone that the team is in a great place, and this guy just got here and was thrown into changing rotations. Give it time.

This sub is turning into r/FuckAlecBurks and IMO it’s corny. Yes he’s playing very bad, but it’s been a great year and this team is being steered in the right direction for once. (Again, injuries, changing rotations, being asked to play out of his role etc)

Let’s not lose sight of the big picture, and let’s hope for health and keep rooting for this team.

His role was to be a warm body for a team decimated by injuries.. but man the guy is cooked

Let’s wait till everyone is healthy and we see thibs rotation

  12. ClankLincoln

Too many people were high on this trade and frankly I was surprised to see it. He was always a ball hog and a way below average ball handler. Still is

  13. Vinnie_Vegas

The trade was primarily about acquiring the right contracts and secondarily trying to get us bodies to help the second unit. It’s not going to be a massive issue when Thibs is primarily using an 8-man rotation in the playoffs anyway, so they’re largely just a bonus if they can find a way to contribute once we have everyone back.

I think things will look better when he can slot into his more limited role when team is healthy. And if they don’t, he’s expiring. He has not looked comfortable at all since he’s arrived. Both he and Bojan will really benefit from easy catch and shoots with Julius on floor.

  15. My only hope is this: we traded for two role players who were put in positions that were asking too much of them. Even though they’ve been playing limited minutes, defenses can clamp on them because no one alleviates the pressure.

Stick them in a lineup with our two All NBA players and All D player and see what they can do when they’re wide open for 10-15 minutes per game.
