GOATs talkin’ GOATs – Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain Interview with Ahmad Rashad (1997)

I felt [compelled to share what may be one of the greatest sports interviews ever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N71Pv48erIc). I smiled and laughed the whole way through listening to these old GOATs discuss their own personal GOAT list (as of 1997). Milwaukee greats like Kareem and Oscar getting much respect. Bill & Wilt paved the way for our very own Greek Freak, Jokic, Embiid, you name it, including the rising French Freak Wemby and countless generational big men including Olajuwon and Shaq.

I also love the fact Bill & Wilt were such wise, articulate spokesmen for our game. Wilt died early at 63 two years after this 1997 interview, and Bill passed away 23 years later in 2002 at 88. If you have a chance, look up interviews with one or both of them on YouTube as a serious student of NBA history and basketball, but also just for goofs, grins, and giggles. These two giants of the game are both entertaining asf for sure, but also tremendous intellects in their own right.
