He was an assistant with us under Thibs. If I recall guys like Randle loved him. He’ll probably come back to the staff.
That answer was pretty bad lol

I always thought it was Jhonnie Bryant

The coaching rumours around this franchise has been dogshit reporting from the local media over the past 20 years. Every time the spot opened the locals went back to their same old list of JVG, Mark Jackson and John Calipari.
I remember one time every paper had Mike Fratello locked in as our next coach and 2 hours later it ended up being Lenny Wilkens lol.

Payne never was a serious candidate at any point. If the Knicks moved on from Thibs, it probably would’ve been Johnnie Bryant. At this point, tbh, with how many HC jobs are likely gonna be vacant after this season, I’d be surprised if Bryant wasn’t on every team’s shortlist of candidates, both playoff teams like Cleveland, LA, or Dallas, and rebuilders like Brooklyn, Chicago, and Portland.

Bryant for sure is the next coach after Thibs.

*“When I walked into the program as the new head coach, I talked about, I needed everybody on the same page. We sort of forgot that. I talked about how I’m not going to let you blame me. I’m not standing up here by myself. I need all of Louisville with me. We sort of forgot that,”* *Payne said*. “I talked about it’s going to take time, and I’m going to watch and see who jumped on and off the Titanic. We sort of forgot that. I gave a specific time. I said three or four years. And I’m good with that. That’s what I believed at that time, and that’s what I still believe it takes to fix this program.**
*“Whether I’m the coach or not, I can look in the mirror and say I gave it everything I had to help this program.”*
Wow that is an insanely bad response

Kenny Payne is a solid assistant coach. Works really well with players at the individual level. Love to have him back.
